Yobe Police Parades 3 Suspects Over Illegal Possession Of Firearms

Police in Yobe State yes­terday paraded three sus­pects in connection with cases of extortion, crimi­nal intimidation and ille­gal possession of arms.

Parading the suspects at the Police Headquar­ters, along Gashua road in Damaturu, the com­mand’s public relations officer, PPRO, ASP Toyin Gbadegesin, said 40-year-old Kachalla Bukar was cut in possession of fire arms, in contravention of Sections 292 and 397 of the Panel Code Law of the country.

The PPRO said the fire­arms in his possession was English-made double-barrel gum with seven cartridges of live ammu­nitions which he used as instrument of intimida­tion to extort money from victims.

ASP Gbadegesin also said the suspect has alleg­edly extorted N2,155,000 from 22 victims.

The offences of illegal firearms and criminal trespass with intent to commit felony, the PPRO revealed, is a join act in­volving Mustapha Mo­hammed who was caught armed with a locally-made short gun given to him by Buji Alhaji Liman, the prime suspect.

The act, according to the police spokesman, contravenes CAP “F” 28 fire Arm Act Sections 344, 95 and 207 of the Panel Code law of Nigeria.
