Aisha Buhari Restructures Governors’ Wives’ Forum

Aisha Buhari has restructured the Governors’ Wives’ Forum, GWF, to encourage cooperation and constructive partnership.
At a meeting with the 36 governors’ wives at the Presidential Villa, the forum was restructured into Northern Governors Wives Forum, NGWF, headed by Zamfara State Governor’s wife, Asma’u Abdul’aziz Yari, and Southern Governors’ Wives Forum led by Imo State Governor’s wife, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha.
The president’s wife said the two fora would have distinct programmes of activities that would address the peculiar and numerous issues of both regions. According to her, it would also create better opportunity to complement each other’s efforts in solving those common national issues. She noted that the restructuring of the fora would encourage networking, cooperation and constructive partnership.
While noting that as wives and mothers, the primary role was to support their husbands, she stressed that private efforts must be geared towards programmes and projects that would impact positively on the lives of citizens, particularly the less privileged members of the society.
Aisha Buhari stated that with their privileged positions as wives of political office holders, there was need to impact positively on the lives of people.

Forum Urges FG To Empower Security Forces In Pipeline Monitoring

The Chairman of the Producers’ Forum of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Emmanuel Onuorah, on Monday urged the Federal Government to empower the security forces in the monitoring of oil pipelines.

Onourah made the call in an interview in Lagos. He noted that the spate of oil theft in the country had become worrisome.

Onourah said it was time modern technology was employed, instead of using unconventional methods through award of contracts. He advocated the need for sound pipeline integrity to enable safe transportation of crude and refined products in the country. “Pipeline installation can now be done using state of the art technology in a manner that will not be accessible to vandals.

“We expect that the managers of the pipelines can imbibe the culture of regular maintenance.

“The enabling legal instruments for sanctioning violators and defaulters should also be reviewed,” he said.

He urged the Federal Government to develop the political will to nip in the bud pipeline vandalism and oil theft in the country.
