The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Rivers State, has alleged plots by the Rivers State Police Command to transfer the suspects arrested in connection with the alleged fake election result sheets printing syndicate to Abuja.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of ALGON in the state, Hon. Samuel Nwanosike, who made the allegation while speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the motive behind the plot is to water down the allegations against them and release them.
Nwanosike said, “We are aware that there are pressures to transfer the matter from Rivers State Police Command to Abuja, to enable them water down the evidence and release the suspects.
“As ALGON, we have met and looked at all the issues and we insist that the matter cannot be swept under the carpet. We call on the Commissioner of Police to know that the voice of the people is the voice of God.
“No matter the pressure from Abuja, he must do justice to this issue that has to do with the will of the people of Rivers State. Emma Chinda, the former commissioner for Agriculture under former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, does not have immunity. Dakuku Adol Peterside, the director-general of NIMASA does not have immunity.
“The commissioner of Police should arrest them immediately. Let the public see that they were arrested, investigated and tried. We, the people of Rivers State are saying, enough is enough. We want these men arrested.”
