The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Tuesday raised the alarm that fraudsters have created a fake face book account with the name of the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mike Okiro, with the intent to defraud innocent applicants of their money.
In a statement signed by Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Media, which was made available to journalists in Abuja, said the fraudsters are already demanding for money from applicants on the on-going police recruitment by the Commission.
According to the statement, the Commission had concluded the various states’ screening and would soon begin the second phase of the process leading to the recruitment.
The statement further stressed: “The Chairman of the Commission said that he has no Facebook account and has never operated such account.
“He advised unsuspecting applicants to beware of the fraudsters and restrict themselves from being desperate for recruitment into the Force.”
Okiro in the statement added that the recruitment will be transparent and based on merit.
Okiro, the statement said, will resist any pressure to undermine or compromise the integrity of the process and its outcome, warning that the fraudsters would soon be rounded up.
