My Son’s Death A Relief, Says Mother Of 23 Year Old Who Died Struggling For Gun

A vigilance group commander in the Oke Aro area of Ogun State, Quadri Adesina, has been arrested by the police after an alleged accidental discharge from his gun killed a 23-year-old man, Yusuf Azeez.

Azeez reportedly wanted to wrest the gun from the suspect when a bullet hit him in the thigh. He was rushed to a hospital in the area, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

It was learnt that the deceased’s mother, 42-year-old Toyin Akintayo, had invited Adesina and his colleagues to her residence on CAC Street, Oke Aro, around 8pm on Tuesday to apprehend Azeez, who allegedly threatened to kill her.

It was gathered that Azeez had arrived at home on that day at about 6pm and requested his dinner. The mother was said to have explained to him that she didn’t have enough money to prepare a meal.

Trouble started after the mother, who sells confectionery, gave him N200 to buy food, saying that was all she could afford. He reportedly smashed a bottle on the ground and vowed to kill her.

The mother said, “I wanted to break my fast on that day with garri when he arrived at home. I said there was no kerosene in the stove to prepare food for him and his younger brother. I gave him N200 and the brother N70. He said the N200 was small and threw it at me.

“I explained to him that it was all I had and that we wouldn’t have been in the situation if he did not steal the compressor of my freezer, which I used to sell ice blocks. I also advised him to find a job. He became angry and started threatening me with a knife and the shard of a bottle. He said he would not allow me to sleep at home that night and vowed to kill me.

“I sneaked out to call members of a vigilance group beside our house. They followed me home and tried to pacify him. He fought them and fought for the control of  a gun that one of them carried. The gun exploded in the process and he was injured in the thigh. He died at a hospital near here.”

Akintayo described her son’s death as a relief to her, saying she could no longer endure the shame his notoriety for “stealing and street fighting” had brought to the family.

She added that his son’s gang members stormed her house on Wednesday and threatened that she would pay for Azeez’s death.

She said, “I enrolled him in three different secondary schools, he dropped out. I took him to five different furniture experts to learn the work, he absconded. He went into barbing; I gave him N85,000 to rent a shop and furnished it for him. He didn’t go to the shop until the rent expired.

“His death is a relief to me and the family. He was too troublesome. There was a time he beat up an Oodua Peoples Cogress member while we were living in Idimu (Lagos). I spent a lot of money on the man’s treatment.

“A few weeks ago, he fought in Agege. He was seriously injured. He had been arrested many times by the police for several offences.”

The suspect, 48-year-old Adesina, who is in detention at the Agbado Police Division, said Azeez had beaten the two security guards that accompanied him to the scene, adding that he only wanted to prevail on him from causing further havoc when his gun exploded.

He said, “There was no light when we entered the building. He attacked us and two of my boys fled. I told him that I came to make peace. He said he didn’t fear my gun. He descended on me and wanted to snatch it. We were dragging it with each other when it exploded. I didn’t kill him. He would have killed me and his mother if he had access to the gun.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The Divisional Police Officer of the station, CSP Abioye Shittu, led operatives to the scene and the suspect has been arrested. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta.”

This American Woman Waited 90 Years to Vote for a Female President, Then Died After Casting Her Ballot

For the first time in U.S. history, a woman is the presidential nominee for a major political party — something many never thought they’d be able to see in their lifetimes.

In a post to the National Pantsuit Day Facebook group on Wednesday, member Scott Harris decided to share a photo of one of these very people: His 90-year-old mother, Anita Harris. In the photo, Anita is all smiles and holding her mail-in ballot for the election. As Scott reveals in the post, she died just days after the photo was taken.

“My mom. Voting for HRC. She waited 90 years. She passed away last night. She’ll be cheering from above Tuesday [night],” the caption read.

As Scott explained in an interview with the Huffington Post, his mother had been in hospice care for about eight months before the photo was taken. He added that he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support he’d received after posting it.

“What is amazing is that human kindness still exists within this contentious election,” he said. “Just shows ‘Love Trumps Hate.'”

In a follow-up post to the Facebook group, Scott went on to thank everyone for their condolences and well-wishes, and to assure fellow group members they would be fighting hard for Hillary for the remainder of the election in Anita’s honor.

To everyone who has taken a moment to send condolences on my mom’s passing after her vote: My family is intimately involved in the HRC campaign. We are spread out over the nation with family and friends. I cannot express how my family is overwhelmed by the responses. We are utterly shocked that you all have taken time to simply make a condolence. Mom was a “Roosevelt Dem” as she would say. And damn proud of it. You all have eased the broken hearts of a family and given mom the greatest gift of going viral with her simple statement. Thank you all. Onward and upward!

She insisted that the doctors should not give her injection or drips as prescribed.

“While we were in the hospital Wunmi refused to disclose why she was given the concoction. According to her, the deceased later died in the hospital and was buried on Sunday in Ijare. “It was after the burial that people came to me and narrated what really happened to my sister

How Pilots, Toddler, Officers’ Wives Died

Hours after the ill-fated Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Donnier-228 aircraft crashed shortly after it took off, it was exclusively gathered that three of the civilians on board were wives of Air Force personnel and a toddler.

The aircraft, with call sign NAF030, had on Saturday morning crashed into a house at Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna killing all seven people on board.

Before the plane crashed, the Abuja-bound aircraft, which took off from Kaduna military airfield at about 6:45am, was said to have floundered in the air and then crashed on top of a residential building.

While the pilot was identified as Squadron Leader Adekunle Suara, a flight instructor at the NAF 301 Flying School in Kaduna, the co-pilot was Flying Officer Kehinde Oluwatosin Olaniran.

Although only one civilian, Hassana Usman, a mother of two, was identified, the names of four other persons remain shrouded in secrecy.

However, it was gathered that the passengers on the plane were made up of two pilots, an airhostess, a technician, two women and the five-year-old child.

The two women were members of the Nigerian Air Force Wives Association (NAFOWA), a group which is the exclusive preserve of officers’ wives in the NAF.

Although they were not part of the mission, it was gathered that they were allowed on board as passengers because it is one of the perks military officers and their spouses enjoy.

In an interview, a senior NAF officer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, debunked claims that the aircraft was hired by civilians.

He said: “Contrary to claims, the aircraft was not on charter service, rather it was going on a mission to Abuja.

“The civilians on board were wives of our officers. They only joined the aircraft because they were on the same destination with that of the pilots.”

Prostitute Burns Client Alive After He Refused to Pay For ‘Services’ Rendered

A 28-year-old housemaid, who is believed to have started a fire in the flat of a man that resulted in his death, was charged with murder and arson in court on Monday.

The woman is believed to have accompanied the deceased to his flat for paid sex.

The victim, who was in an intoxicated state, died after inhaling smoke.
Z.A., a Bangladeshi, allegedly set a couch in the flat on fire and then closed the door and disposed of the key, taking advantage of the fact that the victim was unconscious.

Z.A. is also accused in the Court of First Instance of prostitution as she is believed to have had sex with the victim’s friend (referred to the Court of Misdemeanours) for Dh1,000.

She also allegedly stole the deceased’s mobile phones and jewellery (two rings and a gold necklace). She is also charged with consuming alcohol without a licence.

An Indian maid, 45, is also on trial on the charge of sexually exploiting Z.A. and another Bangladeshi woman, 25. The latter is facing the charge of working in prostitution.

A police lieutenant said the fire was reported in a flat in Muhaisna 4 in Al Qusais around 11pm on March 3. “The body of the victim, which was in the corridor leading to the bedroom, did not bear any marks of assault,” said the lieutenant.

The police also noticed that the door of the flat was locked, which raised their suspicion that it was arson.

Footages from the building’s CCTV cameras showed the deceased returning to his place around 4pm. “There were two men with him. About one hour later, two women were also spotted entering his flat. Around 7pm, the two men left with one of the women while the other woman stayed with the victim.”

At 10.20pm, the other woman — the defendant — left the victim’s place. “She was caught on camera shutting the door quickly. Few minutes later, smoke began to come out from the flat.”

During interrogation, the two men, who were with the victim earlier, reportedly admitted to visiting him and calling prostitutes.

Z.A. reportedly admitted in the investigation that she had sex with one of the men and stayed with the victim on his request to have sex with him.

She claimed the victim was not sober and that he was upset due to the number of calls she was receiving on her mobile phone. They also reportedly had an argument over sex.

The defendant stole the deceased’s belongings and set his clothes on fire before throwing it on the sofa.

The victim’s belongings were recovered from Z.A.’s place. Khaleejtimes reports.
