I Did Not Tear My PDP Membership Card- Obasanjo

News  emerged  on the alleged tearing of the Peoples’ Democratic Party membership card by  former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Sources who spoke recently to the aide of the former President of Nigeria in Abuja, Nigeria said  Chief Olusegun Obasanjo did not openly tear his PDP membership card as widely reported by the Nigerian press.
Recall sometime in 2015, the ex-president while speaking at the Global Education and Skills Forum, (GESF) in Dubai, the United Arab Emirate, said he did not tear his PDP membership card adding that he is not aware, maybe somebody else did it if the story that made the rounds then was anything to go by.
According to the former President, ” “I didn’t openly tear my PDP membership card; somebody else tore it because I said to him, ‘Here is the card, do whatever you like with it.
“If you like keep it; if you like tear it, if you like burn it. Here it is because they say it is giving them concern and they don’t know what is happening.
”I did that to prove to them what is happening; I could not have torn the party’s membership card.”
This is in wake of the alleged threats made by Nigeria’s literary giant , Prof Wole’s Soyinka to tear his American Green Card if Donald Trump wins the US presidential election.
Obasanjo’s aide faulted the threat adding that it amounts to a criminal offence which is not only actionable but also punishable that is capable of earning Soyinka a custodial sentence if the threat is by any act of omission or commission carried out.
Speaking further, our source produced a photograph of the former president where he publicly displayed his PDP membership card saying that Obasanjo though no longer an active member of the former ruling party did not tear the party’s property knowing full well what it would amount to.
On the contrary, pictorial evidence in the photograph below shows where what looks like the card in contention was actually torn. What is being called in question here, however,  is if the damaged property belongs to the former President.

I Did Not Lobby To Be Vice President- Osinbajo

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday, disclosed that he never lobbied anybody before he became Vice President.  He  also declared that the country had moved forward as it turned 56 years and would continue to move forward.
He made the declaration in a speech at the service of the Olive Tree Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos. He asked the congregation if they knew that God made a promise to the nation which was that the nation would be great and made the same promise to them as individuals.
The vice president said a lot of people are confused and asking if the promise will ever come true.
He said “this country has gone forward and it is going to keep moving forward.”
Osinbajo recalled that while he was praying recently, the Lord reminded him of something he asked him to do on the eve of the 2015 Presidential election.
He said that God asked him to take the communion because he was crossing over and when he did (take the communion), God took him through the journey from Egypt to the Promised Land.
Osinbajo said God reminded him of what happened in that journey.
He added that the first thing that happened was that God Himself said if He took the children of Israel through the path where the Philistines lived, they would be afraid and would be asked to return to Egypt.
He said God rather took the people thr0ough the Red Sea.  The vice president explained that by the time they were about crossing the sea, there was a fight back from where they were coming from as Pharoah chased them and wanted to bring them back.
He said the incident got Moses confused as he did not know what to do as God never told him there would be a Red Sea, a difficulty, in the journey. The vice president added that if God was with us, no one would be against us. “The reason why I, Yemi Osinbajo, without asking for a position, was given the Vice Presidency of this nation is because God’s hand is in this business. And so, I am completely confident that despite where we are today, it is the dawn of a new beginning.

Wike Did Not Inherit N7.5bn From Amaechi- PDP

Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has denied a recent claim by former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi that he left N7.5billion Internally-Generated Revenue, IGR, with some banks for Governor Nyesom Wike.

The party said there was no such amount in the state treasury on Wike’s assumption of office on May 29, 2015.

In a statement issued yesterday by state PDP chairman, Mr. Felix Obuah, the party described Amaechi’s claim as “false, unfounded and indefensible,” and pointed out inconsistencies in the former governor’s statement.

Obuah said: “By the time you pull all these (accounts) together, we are looking at readily available cash in the region of N8billion to N10billion left for the Wike administration.”
