We Will Deal With Pipeline Vandals Like Boko Haram Insurgents- Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has issued a stern warning to vandals and saboteurs blowing up oil and gas installations, saying the full weight of the law would be unleashed on them should they continue in their nefarious acts.

The President said the fate of the Boko Haram insurgents in the hands of the Nigerian armed forces would be their lot. Speaking at a meeting with members of the Nigerian community in China, President Buhari said he would not relent in the fight against corruption. According to him, corruption is an arch-enemy of the nation, which has destroyed the lives of many Nigerians.

He said: “I ask for your support to make our vision of stamping out corruption a reality in the shortest possible time. Whoever is caught will not be spared. The government is still being dared, but those who are sensible should have learned a lesson. Those who are mad, let them continue in their madness.

“I am aware that in the last two weeks, the national grid collapsed a number of times. I hope this message will reach the vandals and saboteurs who are blowing up pipelines and installations. We will deal with them the way we dealt with Boko Haram.”

President Buhari assured the Nigerian community that the Federal Government was working very hard to overcome current national challenges and deliver on its promise of a better Nigeria.

We Are Committed To Jonathan’s Deal With China- Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his government remains committed to contracts signed by his predecessor Goodluck Jonathan with Chinese firms on railway, roads and hydroelectric dam projects.
Buhari said this in an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency ahead of his 5-day state visit to China starting today.

China has the technical and financial capacity and the experience of development while retaining the goodwill to help Nigeria, said Buhari. “Really, this is an opportunity Nigeria cannot afford to lose,” the president told Xinhua in Abuja.
Buhari said Nigeria and China enjoy vast opportunities in cooperation in such fields as agriculture, mining, electric power generation, and railway and road construction.
He said Nigeria stands ready to expand the development of industries, especially in manufacturing and textile industries and speed up infrastructure construction, which presents huge opportunities for both China and Nigeria. “The opportunities that present themselves for us … are virtually limitless,” he said.

‘The N4.6billion I Received From Dasuki Was For Spiritual Purpose’ – Ex-Sokoto Governor, Bafarawa

The alleged diversion of $2.2 billion meant for arms purchase by the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan continue to generate more revelations as former Sokoto State Governor Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa denied receiving any money from the embattled former National Security Adviser (NSA) retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki.

Controversy has led to arrest of Dasuki and some prominent Nigerians by the Department of State Service (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

A statement in Abuja yesterday by one of his aides, a former Special Adviser on Youths and Students Matters during his term as Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Akibu Dalhatu said Bafarawa has no deal
with the former NSA nor collected any money from him for any purpose.
Besides, Dalhatu lamented what he called deliberate media campaign aimed at tarnishing the image of the former governor saying it appears that the media was being used to play out a script that has been written long before now.

“The truth is that Governor Bafarawa went to the EFCC to honour an invitation made to him by the agency while he was abroad. He had informed them through a letter by his lawyers that he was abroad and would honour their invitation on return. Governor Bafarawa went to the office of EFCC with his lawyer and an aide,” he added.

However, Bafarawa had stated that he received N4.6 billion from Dasuki for “spiritual purposes.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) also added its voice to the matter calling for stringent punishment for those found guilty.
NLC president, Comrade Ayuba Wabba told journalists yesterday in Abuja that capital punishment for offenders cannot be ruled out to stem the tide of corruption bedeviling the country.

Wabba noted that the mind-boggling revelation by the erstwhile Director of Finance to Dasuki, Shuaibu Salisu, should be commended and should be well protected as a whistle-blower.

Termination Of Oil Swap Deal Will Save Nigeria $13.8 Million Daily

The termination of the controversial offshore dispensation and oil swap agreements by president Muhammadu Buhari, may save the country an average of 230,000 barrels a day. At a market price of an average of $60 per barrel, the country would be saving about $13.8 million of crude oil daily.

Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) data show that the corporation allocated just over 79 million barrels (or roughly 218,000 barrels a day) to swaps in 2011 alone. This accounted for nearly half of the Domestic Crude Allocation (DCA) and around a tenth of the country’s average daily production.

At a media briefing in his Abuja home late Monday, Ojougboh, reacting to what he described as “the show of shame”, which he said Anyim sponsored against him on Monday,  accused the former SGF of acts of desperation “to cling onto his loot and spoils of office without putting into consideration the millions of Nigerians he is depriving of the dividends of democracy”.
