Buhari Should Compensate Kwara People, Group Demands

Muhammadu Buhari Legacy Foundation (MBLF) has appealed to the President-elect Muhammadu Buhari to compensate the people of Kwara for massively voting for him.

The appeal is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, by Olabode Towoju, the North-Central coordinator of the group.

Towoju said that Kwara, hitherto the strong hold of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), massively voted for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the 2015 general elections.

He added that the people of the state under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Abdulfatai, Bukola Saraki and Alhaji Lai Muhammed worked tirelessly to see that the PDP was rooted out of the state.

Towoju added that such efforts should not be left unrewarded, adding that this would make the APC stronger in the state.

He said that the build up to the election witnessed a lot of violence and intimidation of APC members, adding that the APC members dared the PDP and secure victory.

According to Towoju, encouraging members of the party through patronage would strengthen the party ahead of future elections.

He said that the APC in Kwara was aware of the anti-corruption stand of the president-elect; hence it would support the president by choosing credible people to help serve in his government.

He commended the efforts of party leaders in the state like Governor Abdulfatai, Senator Saraki, and Muhammed for ensuring that the party remained united after the elections.

Towoju, however, reiterated the group’s support for the candidacy of Senator Bukola Saraki for the senate Presidency of the 8th National Assembly.
