FG Declares Bumper Packages For Nigerian Teachers

The federal government has announced series of incentives that are expected to booster the morale of Nigerian teachers and enhance increased performance and productivity, as part of the activities marking the ongoing world teacher’s day, which will officially kick start on Monday, October 5th, 2015.

The acting Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Hajia Hindatu Abdullahi said government recognises the fact that no nation or society can rise above the quality of her teachers and the education system.

She said, ‘’the federal government has accorded the development and welfare of teachers a top priority. Our focus is to equip teachers with the required skills, knowledge and competence to meet the varied needs of the 21st century learners.’’

Mrs. Abdullahi, who further acknowledged the theme of this year’s celebration titled, ’’Empowering the teachers, building sustainable societies’’, as being apt, maintained that it was in line with the effort of the ministry to reposition the education sector so as to meet national aspirations.

She further unveiled government’s plan to host National Teacher’s Summit, which will among other themes, focus on the implementation of teacher’s salary structure, the challenges associated with their career growth, including status improvement ,remuneration and condition of service.
