NIS Recruitment Tragedy: FG Gives Automatic Employment To 105 Candidates

The Federal Government has given automatic employment to 105 candidates and relatives of the botched 2014 Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment as compensation for those that died and sustained injuries during the exercise.

 

This is contained in a statement signed by? Mr Bassey Akpanyung, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior and made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja.

 

The statement said that after due verification, employment was given to? three family members of each deceased applicant from the aborted exercise, of which fifteen families were identified, and a total of 45 family members selected.

 

It said that 60 others who were injured in th?e exercise were also given employment after verification by relevant government agencies.

 

“After verification, 15 families were identified, and a total of 45 family members selected from the deceased families.

“Similarly, approval was given for those who were injured in the same exercise to be employed.

“After due verification by relevant agencies of government, 60 of those affected were considered for appointment?,” it said.

 

The statement said that the? two categories of beneficiaries are now undergoing training at various camps of the NIS in compliance with the presidential directive.

 

It said that the recruitment conducted by the Special Presidential Committee constituted in the wake of the aborted exercise of March 2014 was being looked into.

 

The Ministry advised all those affected in the exercise to remain calm and observe decorum while the Ministry resolves the matter.

Ondo Employs 18 First Class Graduands Of State Varsity

Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state has offered automatic employment to all the 18 first class graduands of the state-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Akoko.
Any of them that is willing to take the appointment would be absorbed in the state civil service.
He made the pronouncement during the 6th convocation of the Institution.

 
Dr Mimiko said the state is proud of the graduands and was ready to give them automatic employment.

 
The governor lauded the institution and the students for going six years without interruption of the academic calendar due to strike action.

 
He assured that the state government would continue to make education affordable to the people of the state.

 
The vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Igbekele Ajibefun said the institution ultimate desire was to accommodate its over 14,000 students on campus compared to less than 20percent that are now accommodated.

Automatic Employment To Corps Members Who Marry State Indigenes- Gov. Al-Makura

Gov.Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state on Tuesday, promised automatic employment to any newly deployed corps member who marries an indigene of the state. He made the pledge while addressing 2015 NYSC Batch ‘A’ corp members, during their swearing in- ceremony at Magaji Dan Yamusa permanent NYSC Orientation camp in Keffi Local Government Area of the state.

He said that inter-marriage by corps members would not only foster unity, also promote peaceful co-existence among the people of the state and others states of the federation. He congratulated the corps members for the successful completion of their academic programmes at their various institutions of learning.

“I urge you to use the lessons and experience you gained during this orientation course to develop yourselves, your host communities, the state and the Nigeria at large.

“You should see yourselves as agent of positive change in the society. “I want to advise you to discharge your duties without fear or favour, and relate freely with your host communities. “I promise automatic employment to any NYSC Batch ‘A’ corps member who marries an indigenes in order to promote peaceful co-existence among the people of the state and others states of the country.” Al-Makura said.
