Ondo 2016: Buhari, Osinbajo, Tinubu, Aregbesola absent at APC rally

The crisis rocking the Ondo State All Progressives Congress came to the fore on Thursday as top officials of the party including President Muhammadu Buhari were absent from a scheduled rally.

 

The rally was organised by the Ondo APC to flag off the campaign of Rotimi Akeredolu, its candidate for the November 26 governorship election in the state.

 

As predicted by PREMIUM TIMES, apart from Mr. Buhari, other notable absentees were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Lagos governor Bola Tinubu, and governor of neighbouring Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola.

 

The event commenced on Thursday morning at the Democracy Park in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

 

Introducing the dignitaries present in order of protocol, the National Organising Secretary of the APC, Osita Izunaso, said Mr. Osinbajo was represented by his Chief of Staff.

 

Some serving ministers are also present at the rally.

Okrika Uproar: Amaechi Accuses Patience Jonathan

Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has blamed Dame Patience Jonathan for the attack on members and supporters of the APC, in Okrika, Rivers State, during their rally yesterday.

Speaking to  journalists in Abuja after the enlarged APC leaders’ meeting at the Shehu Yar’Adua centre in Abuja, Amaechi condemned the attack on the APC campaign Rally.

The rally was disrupted by gun shot sounds that surrounded the rally vicinity, also with reports of explosions within and around the Okrika Secondary School area.

There are reports that there has been an explosion around the venue of the APC rally in Port Harcourt. The rally which is being held at Okrika Secondary School is been said to have turned sour after the explosion went off.

More so, there are reports of random firing of gun bullets at the rally’s vicinity. Party faithfuls have been running for their lives, while it has  been reported that the Party officials and leaders are yet to arrive the venue.
