Before Fayose Buries Buhari Alive By Ameh Comrade Godwin

It was a popular comedian who once cracked a joke that he went to the ATM gallery one day to withdraw money but (un)fortunately, a Yoruba lady was there before him. He said, the lady, after receiving her money, knelt down and told machine ‘ese gaan’ (thank you very much). Funny right?

The message in his joke was to tell anyone who cares to listen that the Yoruba ethnic group has respect for both animate and inanimate objects. It is widely believed that the most respected and cultured ethnic group in Nigeria is the Yoruba.

I am from north central, born in the eastern part of the country, breed in Lagos (southwest) and ‘married’ to an Edo woman (South-south). I must confess, the most respectful among these people are the Yorubas.

However, the latest bullets coming from Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose’s arsenal is beginning to make me think otherwise. Is he a true son of Ekiti. In Nigeria, politics is all about throwing of salvos at opponents. If it hits you hard, you reply with your own.

As a political writer, I’ve been monitoring happenings in the nation from the social media angle. I am not unaware of how pro-Buharis are trying to change February to Febuhari, an affirmation that the month of February which has been slated for the general elections would favour the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari.

Of course, I am quiet aware of the counter attack by those in the camp of Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP, known as GEJites that its rather FailBuhari, an assertion that the Peoples General would fail or fall again. Interesting! But while we are trying to show love and support for our candidate, there’s need for us to maintain decorum. We should be careful so we don’t chew the dried up ‘ichikebe’ before rainy season.

Lately, Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose has been gaining political relevance, all thanks to his crude and inciting comments against Nigerian past leaders.

His first target was the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo who he once described as a ‘wolf in sheep’ clothing for saying his boss, President Jonathan’s government has failed.

An overzealous Fayose, who was apparently trying to show how much he loves ‘Jonathan’ hit back at OBJ, calling him names. Trust Baba Iyabo, he simply replied him, ‘you will beg again.’ Don’t forget, what an old man sees while sitting, if a child climbs the tallest tree, he can’t see it. Baba has spoken, let’s wait for the manifestation.

Not yet done, Fayose threw his dirty shroud on former head of state and the presidential candidate of the APC, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, asking for his disqualification over issues bothering on age, health and certificates.

The same Buhari vied for the seat in 2003, 2007 and 2011 respectively with the same ‘fake’ certificates and failing health. Yet, Fayose was mute. Was he on exile during these eras?

The governor in an advert sponsored with Ekiti State money in two national dailies on Monday warned Nigerians not to vote for an ‘about-to-die-Buhari,’ 72, because he’s closer to the grave than the Aso Rock.

Fayose went as far as using the pictures of late former leaders who died in the office -viz Gen. Muritala Muhammed, Gen. Sani Abacha and the late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua with a question mark on the image of Buhari, an indication that he’s the next to go. Oma she o!

Prophet Fayose has even concluded that Buhari would bow soon out like his fellow northerners and Nigerians are tired of ‘state burials’. I am sure when Obasanjo and Buhari were fighting the civil war to keep Nigeria as one, Fayose was still learning how to crawl or perhaps still in his mother’s womb.

An Idoma adage says you don’t feed your child to death because your mother reincarnated her. If democracy has given us freedom to express ourselves, we should not abuse the privilege. I think Fayose is gradually taking this too far. He should not forget that Government House is not his father’s palour, one day, he might fade away just like the sun flower.

Fayose should not forget that men’s extremity is God’s opportunity. You don’t conclude on a man that is still breathing. If an ex soldier like Buhari who fought the civil war is alive and still vying for the highest stool of the nation’s political seat, then a baby ‘Fayoshame’ should bury his head in the red dust for concluding on him.

Fayose should rather pray to attain such feat rather than attacking someone whom the Lord has blessed with old age. I am not supporting any candidate, I don’t even have voter’s card but the truth must be told, enough of Fayose’s constant attacks on old men.

Just like my friend Enenche, I supported Buhari in 2011, but I have my reservation about him in 2015. His non patriotic and nationalistic stance during 2011 post election violence, leaves less to be desired. I think Yoruba elders should call Fayose to order before he gets a casket and bury this son of Daura alive if he refuses to die.

Oga, you better focus on how to revive a decaying Ekiti State in stead of meddling into national politics which is outside your lane.

Fashola Signs N489.690 Billion 2015 Appropriation Bill Into Law

Governor Babatunde Fashola - February 2014 - BellaNaija 01
Gov. Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Sunday signed the state’s N489.690billion 2015 Appropriation Bill into law.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor’s assent to the bill followed its passage by the state’s House of Assembly on January 6.
The budget comprises N247.713 billion capital expenditure and N241.977 billion recurrent expenditure.
Assenting to the bill at the State House, Marina, Fashola said the budget would focus on the completion of on-going projects in the state.
The governor expressed the confidence that the budget would not only deliver life impacting projects, but would also impact massively on the lives of residents.
Fashola said he chose to sign the budget on a Sunday to enable him attend the National meeting of the All

Progressive Congress APC in Abuja on Monday.

He said the decision would enable the ministries, parastatal agencies and others to commence implementation of the budget while he would be away.
The governor said there is no excuse for any government to delay the passage and signing of the budget because of the ongoing electioneering campaigns across the country.
Fashola said: “When we presented the budget, there were financial challenges, but as you know, our revenue has been based largely on our common contribution; that is how we build our common wealth here.
“We need to be innovative, inventive and hard-working and that is what we have given in the last eight years and we won’t give anything less and with the support of the people of Lagos.
“They are the owners of this government and all of its service delivery programmes and I think as difficult and challenging as the revenue issue may be, we will consolidate and finish as many possible projects as we can”.
He urged residents in the state to ensure that gains of his administration are consolidated by voting the APC governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode during the general elections.
Meanwhile, on his part, the state Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ben Akabueze said approximately N248billion would be spent on capital expenditure and N241billion on recurrent expenditure.
He said that the fall in the global oil price might not likely affect the state government and the performance of its budget.
According to him, the pace of ongoing projects will be intensified with the signing of the budget into law.
“The projected fall in the oil price has already been factored into the budget. The truth of the matter is that oil prices are always difficult to forecast.
“Since I started following those forecasts, everybody who has forecast oil prices over the years has failed. They haven’t got it right.
“For us, thankfully over 70 percent of our budget is financed through our own Internally Generated Revenue. There are some linkage even between IGR and oil but it is not a direct dependency in that sense.
“This also challenges us to explore additional avenues to enhance revenue. That will be the major focus this year,” Akabueze said.
A breakdown of the budget showed that Economic Affairs has the highest allocation of N146.305 billion, followed by General Service, N107.69 billion, Education, N82.14 billion; Housing and Community Amenities, N49.033 billion, Health, N44.619 billion and Environmental Protection, N34.953 billion.
Others are: Public Safety and Order, N15.547 billion; Recreation, Culture and Religion, N3.118 billion; Social Protection, N1.589 billion, Planning Reserve, N2.26 billion and Contingency, N2.448 billion.

“Attend Jonathan’s Rally Or Forfeit Your Salaries” – Governor Fayose Tells Ekiti Workers

This is not the best of times for Ekiti workers as they face the test of choice over a presidential election marching order to attend President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign rally tomorrow in Ado-Ekiti, failure of which they should be prepared to forfeit their January salary.
And so as Nigerians grapple with the tragedy of leadership over the years and the opportunity presented by the February 14 election to support the leader who they believe is best suited to lead them out of the woods, Ekiti workers may not have the luxury of that constitutional liberty to support a leader well placed to lead them to the Promised Land.
The Monitors gathered that the maximum ruler in Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has sent out a circular ordering all state public school teachers, civil servants and their local government counterparts to attend the presidential campaign of PDP’s candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, tomorrow. Attendance is compulsory and those who absent themselves do so at their own risk. A register is being opened at the entrance of the venue for workers to record their presence. Those who fail to turn up should be prepared to
forfeit their January salary. It is now so bad that civil servants are compelled to attend political rallies such as the Jonathan Presidential campaign rally!
