Adekunle Gold Wins ‘Best New Act’ At 2016 NEA

YBNL singer, Adekunle Gold was crowned “best new act” at the 2016 Nigerian Entertainment Awards which held on Sunday, September 4 in New York, United States.

The “Ariwo Ko” crooner edged out Niniola, Ycee, Humblesmith, Mz Kiss and Toby Grey to win the comeption.

While receiving the award, Adekunle Gold expressed gratitude saying:

“Thank you very much guys, this means a lot to me. To everybody that voted for me, thank you.”

Gold had in his recently released “Ariwo Ko” musical video, indirectly lashed out at Nigerian musicians who lacked content.

“Ariwo Ko”, is a Yoruba phrase that means it’s not about noise. Adekunle’s message in the video is noise should not be equated with music.

Swiftly following the release of his buzzing debut album Gold , YBNL toaster Adekunle Gold unveils a music video for one of the banging songs, “ Ariwo ko .” “Numbers don’t lie and i don’t shout/ topping every chart and i don’t make mouth/ Oluwa lon se yi emi naa ko o,” he sings. Shot in Lagos, the clip was directed by Adasa Cookey and Plugged by MuchMusic LessTalk.
