Police Arrest Abuja Bomb Master-Minds

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase on Tuesday announced that two masterminds of the recent bombings in Kuje and Nanya towns both outskirts of Abuja have been arrested.

Some 20 persons died and 21 others were injured in the blasts in the two satellite towns.

He stated this during a conference with strategic police managers held at the force headquarters in Abuja.

He said the arrest of the suspects Abdulazeez Muhazab and Isiaku Salihu foiled another attempt by the terrorists to undertake another attack in the FCT.

Arase said 12 already prepared and primed Home Made Explosives (HME) concealed in 12 Fayrouz soft drink cans, 28 pieces of electronic detonators and huge quantities of IED making materials were discovered from them.

Senate Wants Families Of Abuja Bomb Victims Compensated

The Senate on Tuesday, condemned Friday’s bomb attacks in Kuje and Nyanya areas of the Federal Capital Territory.

This followed a motion by the Minority Whip, Philip Aduda (PDP, FCT), who said that the attacks were fresh calls for increased security consciousness and equipment of the military.

The upper chamber, which observed a minute silence for those who lost their lives in the attacks, urged the Federal Government to compensate the families of the dead and cater for the injured.

It also urged relevant security agencies to increase their intelligence gathering and embrace new technologies of combating terrorism, including bomb detection.
