Senate Sends 4-Man Burial Team In Honour Of Ooni

Senate paid special respect to the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade, as lawmakers took turns to pour encomiums on the royal father, whose death was reported about a fortnight ago.

Senators also observed a one minute silence in honour of the late Oba. Senator representing Osun East, Senator Babajide Omoworare, brought the attention of the death of the Oba to the Senate via a motion pursuant to order 42 and 52 of the Senate standing order on matters of urgent national importance.

The lawmaker took time to reel out the resume of the life and times of the late Oba. He said: “Oba Sijuwade was a great family man and highly revered in Diaspora, especially in Cuba, Dominican Republic and Trinidad and Tobago. He received many national and international awards and decorations in honour and recognition of his various achievements.”
