Dear Mr. President, It is not too late – El-Amin Yusuf Alronawy

How are you, my dear President? I hope you are fine. Don’t worry about me; I am very fine. I am now a strong young man you know. How are these wonderful friends (aides) of yours? Extend my greetings to them.

How is Patience doing? I heard that she’s going to lay a foundation of female hostel in UNILAG; I believe some photo journalists would be allowed in to share the scene with us. It’s been a long time since I saw her and heard of her in the newspaper. I believe she will be more beautiful, more beautiful than during the Amaechi- rift. I hate hearsay, but I was told that she fatally emaciated- as if sick- during the chasm between herself and Rotimi.

Mr. President, I am sorry that I am addressing you so informally; it’s not because that I am disrespectful to my president. I hope this will not provoke you to forward this letter to the SSS, even though it’s not their work to deal with “immorality”. They can suddenly change the subject and accuse me of money laundering while I am not in the government; who knows!

The purpose of writing this letter is to alert you on the national on-goings which, if you don’t act quickly on, can ruin your 2015 presidential quest. You shall not blame me, your friend, if you lose because they said “forewarned is forearmed”. An African proverb goes: Advice is a stranger; if he is welcome he stays for the night; if not, he leaves the same day”. Mine is to advise you, before it’s too late.

Mr. President, I believe that every newspaper in Nigeria has Federal Government permission to carry-on: Daily Trust, The Guardian, Leadership, Vanguard, The Nation, Blueprint etc. And I think that at least two, if not all, reserve a daily copy for the presidential villa.

The newspapers and radio stations reported that hundreds were killed by the Boko Haram fighters in Borno state: Konduga, Bama, Izge and many more. One resident of Konduga said that the gunmen came in large number of about 400 men, with sophisticated weapons and vehicles. They drove all the way from their hiding place in the forest to launch these attacks. Nobody repel the attack. In fact, when the soldiers realized that the extremists are more equipped, they ran away leaving the civilians been slaughtered and abducted. They even abducted some teenage girls; I don’t know what a Mujahedeen will do with women he’s not married to. The governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima told the world that Boko Haram fighters have better weapons than your men, you asked Doyin Okupe to deny the governor’s claim. You are surprising me. I don’t know when you’ll stop asking Okupe, a man with no name, to speak on your behalf; he said last year that “If APC survive a year, say my name is not Doyin Okupe again”. I just wonder what we will now call him.

In this February, if you could remember, a reputable Islamic scholar, Sheikh  Auwal Adam Albani Zaria was brutally murdered alongside his wife and son. Just yesterday Boko Haram leader, Imam Abubakar Shekau appeared in a video and claimed responsibility for Albani’s murder. Heaven! the man said he’ll kill you; they’ll bomb Niger Delta and its refineries; they’ll kill the emirs of Kano and Borno; they’ll kill Buhari, IBB and many others. I don’t know why your aides are only good at replying your political adversaries. Take this threat serious and do something. These Boko Haram men are cruel and must not be treated softly when they’re on daily basis killing innocent people. You must act fast. As Kashim said, you shall deploy more soldiers to the region and you must equip them. I suggest drone strikes, if you can afford it. Don’t wait, Mr. President. People are getting killed every day. You must restore the security in that region, before it’s too late.

I am not that talkative, and you know it. But I will like to remind you that the unremitted funds from the sale of crude oils are yet to be accounted for. I want you to sit down and find out who’s responsible for the “swallowing” of these notes; and bring him/her to justice. That only can clear you of the blame. They said, and I am forced to agree, that you’re incompetent. Tambuwal too didn’t spare you when he said that your body language encourage corruption. As far as I know you, your body language doesn’t encourage corruption, but your heart and actions does. May be Tambuwal is saying all these because he wants to run for the 2015 presidential election. But I tell you, you must think over this and bring anybody involved in the plunder or explain to the nation where the money went, before it’s too late.

I will not be a fair and just friend if I don’t acknowledge and commend your recent sack of some ministers. I don’t know what other ministers did to you, but I know Stella Oduah deserved it. What you forgot is probing them, because I am sure they must take something with them. They’re not fools, they won’t starve to death. I believed Stella will fly to the U.S, may be to settle for her PhD. I urge you to investigate the matter and check whether they’ve stolen before it’s too late.

Lastly, ASUP have been on strike since October, 2013. We are tired of staying at home. Do something, please. We beg you.

My regards to Patience. Also, don’t forget to greet the vociferous Labaran Maku for me. I Know that I am a key figure in your administration; been your friend. I can decide if you get a single vote in my ward, so be careful.
