Reports reveal that a college student named Mohamad Azman, 20, has been charged with involvement with al-Qaeda in Malaysia

He was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment by a high court in the country on Monday.

The suspect who had been studying in Egypt had pleaded guilty on Sept. 27.

The judge, Mohamad Samah, ordered that the sentence runs from Azman’s arrest on Dec. 7, 2015.
