Sokoto LG Polls: NSCDC Mobilises 799 Personnel

Mr Adamu Soja, Sokoto State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC ), said on Thursday that the corps would mobilise 799 personnel to provide security during the polls.

 

Soja said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that that the corps would provide adequate security during the March 19 election.

 

He added that the personnel would work in collaboration with the police and other security agencies to effectively monitor the 3, 035 polling units across the state.

 

According to him, concrete security measures have been put in place to ensure peaceful conduct of the polls.

 

The commandant stressed that the NSCDC would not tolerate any act that would truncate the election or cause violence.

 

“We have deployed intelligent officers in and outside the metropolis for intelligence gathering that could aid in dealing with any security threat.”

He urged politicians especially those seeking elective positions to avoid hate speeches and promoting bitterness.

Soja also appealed to residents of the state to support security personnel with vital information that would aid in apprehending criminals.
