Former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Rowland Owie, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate the allegation that members of Ekiti State House of Assembly were given $1 million by the Department of State Services, DSS, to impeach the state governor, Ayo Fayose.
He reminded the President that such actions endanger the nation’s democracy if encouraged, stressing the need for thorough investigation so as to avoid such an act.
According to him, “President Buhari must not turn his eyes away from the on-going recklessness by the operatives of the DSS “Buhari should direct the Inspector General of Police to investigate the allegations by members of Ekiti State House of Assembly that some DSS operatives offered them $1 million to impeach Governor Fayose.
“If it is true, all those involved must face the music. Buhari should note that the legislature is the arm that gives any regime in the world legitimacy, because under any regime the executive and judicial arms are always there. Therefore, the legislative arm in Nigeria must be respected and not rubbished,” he stated.
