The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Information and Strategy has confirmed the kidnap of an aide to Governor Seriake Dickson, Captain Henry Ungbuku (Rtd).

Ungbuku is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Aviation.

He was abducted on Sunday within the premises of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Light House Parish, after the Sunday worship service.

His abductors had reportedly laid siege to the church located in Iwofe, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, very early in the morning, waiting for their victim to attend the service and come out of the church.

Ungbuku’s abductors were said to have asked him to open the door of his vehicle while one of them pointed a gun at him.

The gunmen, according to the source, drove their victim away to an unknown destination after forcing him into a waiting vehicle.
