The trial of the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, before an FCT High Court has been stalled.
At the commencement of trial, counsel to the EFCC, Mr Rotimi Jacobs told the court that he made correspondents to his clients for onward transmission to the Department of State Services, which is currently detaining the former NSA.
He, however, said that the DSS said the release request was late but that efforts were ongoing to produce him in court.
He, therefore, asked for a stand-down or an adjournment till Wednesday, February 3.
Counsel to Colonel Dasuki and other accused persons rejected the application made by Mr Jacobs on the ground that there is a pending application before the court seeking to stop his trial until he is released from detention.
According to his lawyers, his continued detention has made it impossible to prepare for the various cases against him.
He, therefore, asked the court to stop the trial or make an order releasing him from detention.
This is the third trial that has been stalled as a result of Colonel Dasuki’s detention.
The court adjourned till February 26, 2016 to hear the application.
