Eight cattle rustlers arrested with 159 cows in Kaduna

Eight cattle rustlers were arrested with 159 cows by Operation Yaki Surveillance Patrol Team in a joint operation with the Lere Divisional Police Patrol Team following a distress call received at control room of the Operation Yaki Headquarters that a group of suspected rustlers and animals were seen migrating from Doka Lere heading towards Yadin Garu in Lere local government area of Kaduna State.
Samuel Aruwan, spokesperson of Kaduna State Governor disclosed this in a statement. 

 

The Patrol Teams who were alerted immediately arrested the suspects and recovered the animals. The animals comprise 129 cows and 30 sheep. Meanwhile, the suspects and the recovered animals were handed over to the Divisional Police headquarters, for onward delivery to owners while preliminary investigation is in progress to establish the criminal profile of the suspects for possible prosecution. 

 

In a related development, three suspected cattle rustlers were also arrested with 33 cows by operatives of Operation Yaki Surveillance Patrol Team in a joint operation with the Lere Divisional Patrol Team in Wartsi Piti village in the local government.

 

The teams acting on a tip off acted swiftly and arrested the suspects while on transit. Those arrested include Michael Musa, Adamu Haruna and Musa Tambaya Musa and upon interrogation they disclosed three names of their accomplices that include Auta Musa, Dogo Babangida and Haruna Abubakar and efforts has been intensified to arrest them. 

 

Meanwhile, the suspects and the animals recovered were handed over to the Lere Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation to establish the criminal profile of the suspects for possible prosecution.

 

Also, 194 were recovered from Auchan in Kubau Local Government area of the state in a joint operation by Operation Yaki Surveillance patrol team and the Divisional Police Patrol Team Aucha, following a tip off on Saturday 28thNovember, 2015 at about 2:00am.

 

The recovered animals have been handed over to the Zaria Area Command for onward distribution to their bona fide owners after satisfying the procedures of the distribution committe
