Former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Governor, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, are among prominent Ijaw leaders that will attend the event as the incumbent Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, declares for second term ambition next Tuesday.
Others expected at the event include the national leadership of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governors and National Assembly members.
The declaration will put an end to insinuations on whether Dickson, whose current first tenure will end on February 14, 2016, would be seeking a re-election in office.
The governorship election has been slated for December 5, 2015.
With his expected declaration on September 8, the governor will have to contend with other aspirants for the candidacy of the Peoples Democratic Party at a primary election to be held in October.
Commenting on Dickson’s declaration, Alamieyeseigha described the governor as a good product, that would be easy to market for a second tenure in office as Governor.
Alamieyeseigha stated this when Dickson paid him a courtesy visit on Wednesday at his country home in Amassomma, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.
The former governor, popularly known as the ‘governor-general of the Niger Delta’ said Dickson had performed well and deserved a second tenure.
He said re-electing the governor would enable him to consolidate on the gains of the restoration agenda, stressing that it was only a man like Dickson, who had performed creditably well that could bring victory for the PDP in the December 5 governorship poll.
Party faithful, supporters of the governor from across the state as well as friends and well-wishers are expected to also attend the event, scheduled for 10am on Tuesday, next week.
