Federal Government yesterday declared it was ready to give Yeye Oodua and the late matriarch of Awolowo dynasty, Hannah Dideolu Awolowo, a befitting state burial if the family would consent to such arrangement.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir David Lawal, who led a Federal Government delegation to the Awolowo’s Ikene home, dropped the hint while delivering President Muhammadu Buhari’s condolence message to the family.

The delegation, which visited the Awolowo family, included the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Gen. Abayomi Olonisaki, Chief of Staff, Abba Yari as well as Ambassador Babagana Kingibe among others.

Speaking further, the SGF stated that President Buhari instructed the delegation to inform the family of the readiness of the Federal Government to give all necessary support for a befitting burial of the late First Lady of the old Western Region.
