Known diva Mariah Carey isn’t used to sharing the spotlight with anyone. However, the “Fantasy” singer had to accept a co-starring role on Wednesday, when her 4-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe (aka Roc and Roe), took center stage as Carey was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Really, you’re melting my heart,” Carey, 45, said to her adoring fans. “You’re making me cry, and that’s why I’m keeping on my sunglasses. But I cannot thank you enough. This is a huge honor.”
“Dem babies” — whose dad is Nick Cannon, the husband Carey split from last year — did not care about the formalities. They plopped down on the sidewalk for cameras right along with their mom. At one point, Roc even sidled up to give Carey hugs and kisses during her historic moment. Eventually, he was pulled away, although he was very unhappy about it.
Even through Roc’s tantrum, Carey did her best to maintain the Old Hollywood glamour. Her black sequined gown and the kids’ coordinated white outfits helped.
Carey explained in a May interview with the U.K.’s Daily Mail how important her children are to her.
“They’re the greatest experience of my life,” she said. “They’re my best friends. They’re everything.”
