Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has dismissed the statement credited to him on the travails of Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu, in the hands of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The governor’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, blamed “desperate political spin doctors” for linking him to the development.
“Kindly disregard any press statement being circulated purporting that I made on Prince Buruji Kashamu. I have not made any press statement on the travail of Buruji Kashamu today both on Twitter and Facebook or any social media platform,” Olayinka stated.
He added that the comment being referred to was generated by unnamed political figures with ulterior motives. “Their motive must be to drag the governor into what does not concern him.
For all intent and purposes, the issue relating to Prince Buruji Kashamu is not political and I, as a governor, do not have anything to do with it,” Fayose was quoted as saying.
Kashamu is facing extradition to the United States for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking in that country some years ago.
