Ex-Delta Government Officials Have Fraud Case To Answer

The former Executive Secretary of Delta State Scholarship Board, Peter Amromanoh, and Chief Accountant, Andrew Boji Nkwor, will again appear in court at the end of the month to answer to charges bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

This follows the Delta State High Court ruling it had jurisdiction to preside over the case and ordered the accused persons to take their plea.

On the last adjourned date, the duo had challenged the jurisdiction of the court and the proof of evidence, stating that it does not disclose the commission of the offence in the charge. The duo pleaded not guilty to the charges.

It is alleged sometime between 2008 and 2012 they stole the sum of N31, 72 million meant for the payment of bursaries to students of Delta State origin.

These were said to be studying in various institutions of higher learning in the 2008 to 2010 sessions.

Amromanoh and Nkwor allegedly paid the money to ghost students and thus fraudulently converted the said sum to their own use.

At the end of the month, they will be arraigned at the court sitting in Asaba on a five-count charge.
