APC Challenges Kashamu’s Victory

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has filed a petition against the Senator-elect for Ogun East, Buruji Kashamu at the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in the state. The petition was filed on Wednesday by the party’s candidate in the election, Dapo Abiodun.

Abiodun in the petition argued that Kashamu was not qualified to contest the election and did not score the highest number of lawful votes as required by law.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the state Resident Electoral Commissioner were joined as the 2nd, 3rd and 4th respondents respectively in the petition. Kashamu was declared winner of the National Assembly election held on March 28 after polling 99 540 votes to defeat eight other candidates.
