The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, Mr. Dan Bature, has claimed that governor Rotimi Amaechi asked him to release some criminals in their custody.

Bature was reacting to a statement attributed to the state governor, that the state police command was endangering the life of governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, by exposing him to assassination.

The police boss, yesterday asserted that Amaechi was only accusing them wrongly because of their refusal to release some criminals involved in cases of murder as requested.
