The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) hinted it would appeal the Lagos High Court to acquit Wale Babalakin, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, on a myriad of charges.
The anti-graft agency had sought the prosecution of the legal practitioner on a 27-count charge of fraud, conspiracy, and retention of proceeds of criminal conduct.
“The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been drawn to the ruling by a Lagos High Court, presided over by Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo which discharged and acquitted Wale Babalakin, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria,” said Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC Head of Media and Publicity.
