The trial of former governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, is expected to resume at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja later on Thursday.

Audu and former Alpha Mustapha, Director General, Directorate of Rural Development in his administration, are facing prosecution for offences bordering on criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of N10,9 billion.

The trial took a new twist on Wednesday when a witness claimed some documents had been forged to insinuate the pair had executed some projects.
Lewechi Terry Ozoemenam, managing director of Leoflench Nigeria  told the court that his company executed most of the water projects of the Directorate of Rural Development from 1999-2003.

When shown exhibit including a document containing a voucher, receipt and cheque for construction of borehole in Ogbonicha valued N49, 6 milion, Ozoemenam denied ever executing such project, nor collecting such money.

According to him, the receipt was forged as the signature was not his. The case has been adjourned to later on Thursday for continuation of hearing.
