FCTA Restructures Existing Traffic Light Technology To Curb Congestion

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced the upgrade of 28 out of the 74 existing traffic light installations in the Territory from the old technology of incandescent light to Light Emitting Diode (LED) with solar back-up.

The FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, who disclosed this in a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Hazat Sule on Sunday, said the upgrade was aimed at drastic reduction of traffic light problems associated with those powered by conventional electricity supply.

Mohammed was quoted as saying over the weekend, after meeting with some senior officials of the FCT Transportation Secretariat in his office at Area 11, Garki I District, Abuja that the development will enhance traffic management and security of commuters within the Federal Capital City.
