Emefiele, Fashola Task Leaders On Accountability

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, have advised those at various leadership positions in the country to be transparent and accountable in their subjects.

They gave the advice at a conference organised by the Society for Corporate Governance of Nigeria (SSGN) in Lagos, themed, “Leadership and Governance in the Public Sector”.

Emefiele, who was the keynote speaker at the conference, noted that leadership and governance in the public sector are relevant to the CBN’s efforts to maintain price stability to drive economic growth. The CBN governor, who was represented at the event by the Director, Banking and Payment System, CBN, Mr. Dipo Fatokun, also pointed out that such growth would not only be sustainable, but could lead to the creation of jobs.

He added: “It provides an opportunity to access current effects to enthrone good leadership in the public sector and in developing strong institutions that would provide support to leaders, so that they are better able to fulfill the mandate of organisations they preside over.”
