#SmartStart #PursuitSeries (2): Kunle’s Story: It might be your Story

Looking back at the number of years I have spent all in a pursuit for a better expressed and fulfilled me, I would say, it’s been actually worth every pain, every slap, every set back because in your pursuit lies true happiness.

Good day, My name is Haastrup Steven Adeshope. Today, I would be sharing with you on THE TRAVIALS OF PURSUIT.

As Kunle sat on the stairs, still corporately dressed but with ties loosed and heads bowed, I was equally lost for words to tell him. He wasn’t ready to listen to whatever I had to say, because at that point no advise mattered anymore, all he wanted and I understood that was needed at that point were results; results for the 3 years of intense mental and physical labour on an IT project that hasn’t gotten any investment or even social credibility to start with.

Tunde crying silently with tears dripping off his eyes, He said… Steven, I have just two trousers but with leaking pockets, my only shoe in no time will completely fade out, I have just three good shirts and just one blazer that’s fading. He continued by saying… Look at Tobi who started  a year after I did and Segun who I even taught during his time with me, both of them are Lagos big boys now, they are doing so well. Actually, what is wrong with me Steven?

At this point, I was close to tears with him because I know Kunle to be studious, smart and always not giving up. I came in terms with Tunde’s narration, although painful but was real.

You might be Kunle or even have worse experiences than that of Kunle, but today, I would share with you 3 factors that will ease your travail during pursuit.

  1. Dissect: Experientially, you shouldn’t want to make a big dream happen all at once, more than 95% of such cases end up in frustration. So the simple way out is, when you get clear about what you want, dissect it into smaller and very clear components that makes up the bigger dream so as to achieve them easily with same effort and passion.

  1. Review, Measure & Appraise: This keeps your passion in pursuit alive. Always learn to review, measure and appraise each component goal and let it be enough to motivate you to do better or to sustainably keep it at the best last move.

  1. Keep Adding: This is a summation process of all components that makes up the BIG DREAM. Keep adding your measured up components for your BIG DREAM and overtime, you will find yourself getting to the finish line.

Listen! Setbacks will surely pop but don’t give up, it’s either that phase needs you to be stronger than what you are now or the job needs you to execute it more excellently than you are doing or will do.

Finally, in the travails of pursuit, don’t be ill-focused; get involved in some other productive and project related activities which can keep you financially sustainable over the stretch of time that you are in the job of your pursuit. The frustration of being broke can be killing during pursuit, it can be related to being thirsty with no drop of water in your bottle during a desert journey, motivational speakers wouldn’t tell you this but it’s really key. When you are productively and relatively engaged and also practicing the 3 highlighted factors that eases your travail, it would just be a matter of productive time, before you find yourself chilling in the fulfillment of your pursuit.
