#BringBackOurGirls: So We Should Go Protest At Boko Haram? – Soyombo Ayomikun

We didn’t go to the polls

To vote in Shekau & his cohorts

We committed our lives

To a leader we trusted

Sadly we are now being asked

To go to hell & plead for salvation

If we can no longer cry at you to help

Then just know you’ve failed

Nobody hates you Mr. President

But Nigerians need your reassurance as oxygen

We don’t expect you to be a superman

Be not afraid to show your weakness

However, looking into your eyes we want to keep seeing the drive

That sense of divine purpose springing hope in us

Once we stop crying at you to help

‘Oga,’ just know you’ve failed

We bury the dead daily

And you don’t want us to ask questions

Any rubbish can proceed out of our mouths now

As we’ve been chased beyond sanity bounds

All these calls to test your strength

As a leader that can steer change

Telling us to go protest at our enemies

Then you’re implying you’ve failed

Admit that you’ve not done your best

But that all hope is not lost

Tell us that though we’re together weak & mourning

Our teary eyes can glisten again

Gather us to lay wreaths in honour of those we’ve lost

That in national mourning our hearts may heal some more

Please don’t tell us not to raise placards in protest

Because once we stop, then you’ve failed

We have been through hell

We now live with terror

Daily our eyes behold horror

Our hearts being drowned by uncertainties

Please as we daily cry at you

Don’t tell us to go cry at the enemies

We elected a leader to shield us from pains

Reason why we won’t stop shouting #BringBackOurGirls
