The i360^o OAU Face-Lift project

History is about to be made as over 5000 students  of Obafemi Awolowo University step out to give their institution a face lift on the 13^th of October 2012. The students are to paint strategic places on the campus including their hostels, road sides; renovating laboratories; cleaning off  posters from walls in lecture rooms; Departmental Facelift; and so on.

This project tagged, ‘i360^o OAU Face-Lift’ is an initiative of G-Next Youth Initiative, an interdenominational youth Christian organization geared towards positively impacting youths towards practical change. For over seven (7) years of existence, we have reached thousands of youths in about five (5) states. Impact i360^o is the project arm of G-Next, which has a mandate to create visible impact and sustaining transformation in our immediate environment. G-Next believes in creating a NEW NIGERIA and igniting the change from their immediate environment.

The i360^o OAU Face-Lift project is aimed at spurring students towards positive, constructive, and impactful contributions towards the growth of Obafemi Awolowo University and also towards a positive mindset. Also to ignite the passion to protect and conserve facilities and structures; contribute a quota to OAU’s 50th Anniversary and to re-define the institution’s motto: ‘for learning and culture’. It intends to motivate and mobilize over 5000 students from all faculties and organizations in Obafemi Awolowo University, to sign up for this epoch-making event as their contribution towards maintaining a serene environment, especially this 50th Anniversary celebration. The anniversary will also aid the involvement of students in this Reformative Process, to help them have a sense of Ownership and sustain the change and not destroy it.

The i360^o OAU Face-Lift project would last two days. The first day, 12^th of October would feature Fela Durotoye, Dayo Israel and other renowned speakers, sensitizing the students towards a positive change, in the prestigious Amphitheatre, OAU. Interview sessions would be conducted and entertainment from famous and highly applauded artistes, comedians, and bands. Day 2 would feature the painting and face-lift of the university environment. This would be done by the students as well as alumni, top celebrities, such as Fela Durotoye, Dayo Israel, BOUQUI, Gbenga Adenuga, Gaise, Infinity, and a host of others.

The brains behind i360° OAU Face-Lift project are students of the university and this is their way of exhibiting leadership as well as influence. They are change agents and hope this project causes a ripple effect that would cause a total change in Nigerian universities as well as a revolution in the Nigerian education.
