Teenager Runs Mad After Allegedly Swindling Pastor

A teenager, who deals in clothing at the popular Onitsha market, has reportedly run mad after he allegedly swindled an Asaba based evangelist, simply identified as Mr. Uzor. (surname withheld).

The boy (names withheld) was said to have sold two red pieces of male underwear (commonly called boxers) to Uzor who is also believed to be a personal driver to a Japanese expatriate working with a multinational construction company in Nigeria.

Uzor was said to have taken his boss to the Onitsha market axis where he saw the teenager who engages in mobile retailing (hawking). Sources narrated that he (Uzor) picked the two pieces of red shorts worth N250 each and he was said to have paid the seller a total N500.

Upon collection, the teenager was said to have demanded another pay, insisting that he had received no dime form the evangelist. Amazed at boy’s claim, the evangelist reportedly made several attempts to explain how he had paid the teenager, but his efforts yielded no success. This, according to sources, was in spite of the fact that a N500 note that matched his (Uzor’s) exact description was found in the boy’s pocket.

In frustration, the evangelist reportedly gave out the last N500 in his pocket to the boy, but added another N30 to it, thereby making him penniless at that moment. He was said to have intoned some inaudible statements after which he said in “Jesus name, amen”.

Few hours after the evangelist left Asaba, sources said the teenager became restless and could not continue with his business. He was said to have returned home without telling his colleagues the reason behind his early retirement for the day.

On getting home, he reportedly undressed, started screaming and danced around the neighborhood playfully. The unusual act was said to have attracted his neighbours’ attention.

Teenager Kidnapped In Ibadan, Rescued In Calabar

A Teenager kidnapped in Ibadan, Oyo State, has been rescued in Calabar, Cross River State.

Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, Jimoh Ozi-Obeh, made this known yesterday in Calabar while briefing journalists on the activities of the police command in the past one month.

Ozi-Obeh said the 16-year-old kidnap victim was abducted in Ibadan on November 7 and brought to Calabar the following day. He said the minor, a student of St. Barnabas Academy at Daramola Street in Ibadan, was abducted on his way to school.

The police boss explained that the command had got across to the Ibadan Police Command with a view to safely hand over the boy to them so that he can be re-united with his family.

Also, he said one of its personnel, Kingsley Iyeke, killed another policeman, Edet Archibong, during a gun duel between the police and suspected cultists in Calabar. The commissioner said that after the incident, the police swung into action by tracing the cultists to their hideout where some of them were arrested.

He explained that during interrogation, one of the suspected cultists mentioned Mr. Iyeke, a police corporal, as their member “and that he was the one that shot the police inspector during the clash. It would be recalled that we lost one of our inspectors last month during an exchange of fire with some cultists here in Calabar.

“During our trial, we found out that truly he was their member. We have dismissed him and he will face the full wrath of the law,” he said.

Iyeke, 35, from Rivers, was attached to the Marine Police base in Calabar. Responding to questions from journalists, Iyeke denied being a member of any cult group, saying that he was only being set up by the suspected cultists.

In another development, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected notorious hawkers of marijuana popularly called ‘Indian hemp’.

The plain-clothed undercover policemen attached to Ikeja Division, who disguised as customers, arrested the suspects at Ipodo area of Ikeja.

Following intelligence received by the Ikeja Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Olasoji, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) that the Ikeja area has become a hub for cartels, who deal in illicit drugs, the policemen swooped on the hoodlums, arresting three suspects in the area.

One of the suspects, John Albert told The Guardian that he ventured into the business to raise money for hospital bill. “I don’t hawk Igbo always. I just started the business because I needed to raise money for my operation. We know what we are doing is illegal, that is why we run whenever we hear the sound of a siren.

“In this business, policemen are our enemies. I used to repair big generating sets and it is a job that requires too much strength. I was no longer coping, so I decided to venture into sales of Indian hemp. My friends told me that the business is lucrative.

“I make N6,500 profit after selling a full tray. I use to smoke it before but I stopped recently because I know it is bad for me,” he said.

According to another suspect, Ayo Ojo, “I was arrested by the police because I was with my friend, Albert. I don’t sell Indian hemp, but I smoke it a lot.”

World’s Tallest Teenager Reaches Record-Breaking 7ft 8ins & He Is Still Growing

The world’s tallest teenager has reached a record-breaking height of 7ft 8ins and he is still growing.

Broc Brown, who was officially the world’s tallest teenager before becoming too old for the 18-and-below classification, is growing at the rate of six inches a year.

If he maintains that rate, the 19-year-old from Michigan could easily surpass the current world’s tallest man, Sultan Kosen, who stands at 8ft 2ins.

His mother, Darci said: “I’d say Broc was around 5ft 2ins when he was in kindergarten. When he got into middle school he was around 6ft tall and by high school he was 7ft tall – he could easily grow six inches in a year. It’s a genetic disorder and there’s nothing that can stop him from growing – I don’t know if he will ever stop.”

He was diagnosed with Sotos Syndrome, known as cerebral gigantism, when he was just five-years-old and his mother was told that he would not outlive his teenage years.

The condition effects one in every 15,000 people but doctors are now confident that Broc will have a normal life span despite his health problems .

Along with his gigantism Broc also suffers from learning difficulties, strain on his heart, curvature of the spine and narrowing of the spinal cord.

He was also born with one kidney so is unable to take painkillers despite suffering constantly with his back.

Teenager Sues Parents For Invasion Of Privacy

In this day and age, parents are always posting pictures of their kids on social media. Before they’re even born, their faces will be on the internet in the form of scan pictures.

And from first steps to the first day of school, every new milestone is documented – including some embarrassing ones.

But parents might want to think twice about what they share online after it emerged that a teenager is suing her parents for invasion of privacy.

Why? Because they posted pictures of her when she was a baby that include having her nappy
changed and sitting on a potty.

The 18-year-old woman, who lives in the Austrian state of Carinthia, claims that since 2009 her parents have made her life a misery by constantly posting new pictures of her on their social media accounts from when she was an infant.

She said the pictures allegedly included embarrassing and intimate images from her childhood and added that they were shared with her parents’ 700 online friends.

Michael Rami, the woman’s lawyer, says that to date her parents have posted 500 images of her on social media sites without her consent. He believes she has a good chance of winning the court battle.

The teenager said: “They knew no shame and no limit – and did not care whether it was a picture of me sitting on the toilet or lying naked in my cot – every stage was photographed and then made public.”

She told local media that despite her requests, her parents have refused to delete the photos, which prompted her to sue them.

She said: “I’m tired of not being taken seriously by my parents.”

Her father believes that since he took the photos he has the right to publish the images.

Yet Rami said that if it can be proven that the images have violated her rights to a personal life, her parents will lose the case.

And it might also mean the parents have to pay money to the child.

Nigerian Teenager Hacked To Death With A Machete In London

Parents of Andre Aderemi, a Nigerian teenager who was brutally macheted 20 times after being pursued by three others carrying machetes, at Monks Hills estate, Selsdon, Croydon, have pleaded for an end to the cycle of violence on the capital’s streets.

The 19-year old boy later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital and died. The stabbings may be gang related because many of those he fraternised with have been killed in a similar fashion. Andre was friends with Myron Isaac Yarde, a 17-year-old rapper who was fatally stabbed in New Cross in April.

Aderemi was an ex-pupil at John Ruskin College in Croydon, and an amateur rapper said to be friends with two other young musicians stabbed to death in south London in the past three months.  He is also said to have performed with 16-year-old Leoandro Osemeke, known as Showkey, stabbed to death outside a party in Peckham on August 5.

An eye witness, Rebecca Shaw, 18, said she heard “screams” after the terrifying attack in Selsdon, Croydon. She said: “Andre’s mother came running down the road. He was on the floor screaming out for her. I heard the screams and lots of people came running to him. They tried to give him CPR and put pressure on the wounds.”

And another onlooker added: “I saw Andre running for his life and three others were coming up behind him. They were just chasing him and not shouting. They chased him behind a row of shops. I called the police, as I knew if they got to him he’d be done. They were armed with machetes about a foot long. I was told Andre was stabbed 20 times.”

More than 100 friends and relatives of Andre Aderemi, 19, last night gathered for a memorial church service on the Croydon estate where he was murdered on Tuesday.

His mother Yemi Hughes told the congregation: “I’ve lost my baby. He’s my everything, my rock… my other two boys are broken.”

Tragic Andre is the eighth teenager to be stabbed to death in London this year.

Lagos Prophet Accused Of Abducting Teenager

A 26-year-old prophet with Immaculate Ministry in Satellite Town, Lagos, who allegedly abducted a teenager, has revealed that he did it to liberate the victim’s family from a spell.

Parading the suspect yesterday at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, the command’s boss, Fatai Owoseni, said: “The suspect, David Ifunaya, abducted the victim for three weeks after the victim told him that her father is a herbalist.

“Throughout her stay in his place, neither did he nor his victim call her parents, who were searching everywhere for her. She was later traced to the suspect’s home in Satellite area of Lagos, following which her parents reported the case to police.”

However, the suspect claimed that he did what he did to cast out a spell from the teenager. He said: “I met the girl earlier this year and ministered to her. I told her that her family was under a spell and later gave her a handbill, which she rejected saying that her aunt would be angry with her for collecting a Christian handbill, since they are Muslims.

“She, however, requested for my number which I gave to her. Since then, she calls me for prayers and counselling. I even prayed for her and she passed her JAMB exams.

“When she called and told me she was coming to my house without the knowledge of her parents, I refused but later agreed because she kept pleading that she needed spiritual help.

“She also lamented that nothing was going on well for her and her family and attributed it to the spell in her family. She said she was convinced I am a man of God because since I prayed for her, things have been going on well with her.”

A teenager has died from an overdose after his friends clubbed together to buy ecstasy to celebrate the end of exams, a coroner heard. Toby Fairclough suffered a cardiac arrest on playing fields in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire after taking a lethal dose of MDMA.

The student of Akeley Wood School was rushed to Stoke Mandeville Hospital, where he later died.

An inquest heard the 17-year-old had chipped in some money with friends to buy a gram of MDMA – known most commonly as ecstasy, which he swallowed and mixed in his drink.

Toby and the group of teens had then headed down to a paddock about 200 yards away from his friend’s house which was out of the view of any adults, on the night of May 22
Friends described seeing the schoolboy jumping around and talking very quickly, but said he was still able to hold a conversation with others.

He was put in the recovery position and given blankets to keep him warm but when his breathing suddenly became very shallow at half past midnight, his friends called an ambulance.
Detective Sergeant Simon Johnson of Thames Valley Police Force CID told the inquest:

‘Paramedics arrived on scene but had already instructed Toby’s friends to carry out CPR.

‘He was then taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury, by stretcher but was pronounced dead at 1:45am having arrived at 1:39.

“I ask my victims if they are interested in working in Nigerian National Oil Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, or any other blue chip company. They get carried away and I usually ask the victim to pay N26,850 into my bank account for application forms and processing fee.

“It was while I was attempting to defraud the fourth person that I was arrested.

“I am really disappointed in myself. I want my mother to know that I loved her so much that I went into fraud to enable me take care of her medical expense.”
