The police boss said from his interaction with the woman, she had depression as a result of unpaid loans, adding that “she is still insisting that she wants to end her life.”

He said the woman would be taken through post-trauma programme to ensure that she had hope and not commit suicide, adding that the police would do a medical evaluation on her to ascertain her condition.

Owoseni lamented the rate at which people commit suicide in the country, describing it as worrisome, adding that the police had begun patrol of bridges across the state to forestall other cases of suicide.

Man live streams himself committing suicide over his girlfriend

Richard Nhika, a 38-year old Zimbabwean gospel musician and church pastor took his life while filming himself. According to him, he was prompted to commit suicide as a result of a conflict he had with his girlfriend, Nomatter.

In the video, he said:

“This is where I am seated, just close to the road… I think it’s about 15 to 20 metres so take care.”

In the video Richard says: I will always love you Nomatter, which is why when I saw you I never insulted you or said anything bad.

I have decided to die next to this tree so that everyone can see, this is real poison you can even see for yourself.”

After consuming the poisonous substance believed to be cotton pesticide, Richard who was now an Apostolic Faith Mission junior pastor was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where he died the following day.

Family spokespersons Pauline Busu and Nyasha Nhika said they were saddened by the death of their relative.

They said they never thought Richard would decide to end his life considering his spiritual background.

“When we got to the scene where he committed suicide, we found the video in his phone which he had shot taking away his life.

“We are convinced that this was a spiritual attack that happened to him because in his normal senses, he would not have done something like this.

“He was a pastor at AFM Church and he was actually launching his album he featured Mathias Mhere, Dereck Mpofu and Sharon Manyonganise and no one ever expected him to do such a thing.

“We are receiving calls from many people who he ministered to, even some influential people are also calling us sending their condolence messages.

“Two days before he died, he would wake up in the middle of the night praying and no one ever bothered to ask what was going on in his life,” Pauline said.

When asked whether they knew the reason he committed suicide, Nyasha interjected:

“He was fine, he never shared with us if he was facing any problems with anyone, we only heard of him mentioning a lady called Nomatter in his video.

“From what he was saying in the video, it seems she was his girlfriend and they were having some challenges.

“However, no one from our family had ever met her, but we are looking forward to seeing her so that she explains to us what really went wrong between her and Richard.

“So far from the investigations we made, we were informed that they go to the same church and they were in love.”

Meanwhile, mourners are gathered at Nhika’s family house in Chitungwiza.

His body will be ferried from Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals straight to Marondera Cemetery.

IG raises alarm over the rise of suicide cases in the Police force

The Nigerian Police Force is worried over the rising cases of suicide among its officers across the country.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zone 5, Abubakar, Mohammed, lamented the development in an interactive session with policemen in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on Thursday.

He said recent statistics confirmed that more policemen are taking their lives.

Mohammed, a former Director at the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) office in Lyon, France, said the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has ordered senior police officers to have close relationship with their subordinates.

He disclosed that the IG asked them to close their ranks with their subordinates to know their problems and stop them from taking their lives in order to stop the problem.

“The IGP has asked us to now go close to our officers as well as the rank and file to know what their problems are because the level of suicide within the police is getting higher. Police officers are killing themselves without us knowing what their problems are,” he said.

“If you have family problems or in the office, it is very important to talk to your senior officer who will try to help you. I do not know why it is increasing. Whether it is because of family problems.

“But if you have any issues bothering you, talk to your immediate senior officers who will approach a more senior one to resolve it.

“The police need to relate more with members of the public and develop confidence in their minds without being compromised. Many civilians are afraid that if they give police information, we will divulge the source of the information.

“When that is done, the confidence of the informant disappears and this will be detrimental to our crime fighting strategy.

“When you harass members of the public, you lose confidence. When you torture suspects, it creates problems between you and civil society in terms of human rights abuse”.

“An intelligent police officer can deal with a suspect in a prescribed, acceptable manner rather than using coercive methods. In essence, you change your attitudes. The way you portray yourself will determine whether the person you are getting information from will help you.”

German Officials Demand Answers After Suspect’s Suicide

German authorities are under pressure to explain how a detained Syrian man suspected of planning an airport bombing attack was able to take his own life, with politicians demanding answers and calling the death in custody a “fiasco” and a “tragedy”.

Sebastian Gemkow, Saxony’s justice minister, said in a press conference in Dresden that Jaber al-Bakr, 22, strangled himself on Wednesday evening by tying his shirt to the bars of his jail cell.

“This should not have happened even though we did everything we could to prevent it,” Gemkow said on Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday, Bakr’s defence lawyer Alexander Huebner said that he had been informed his client was “under constant surveillance.

“How could this happen?” asked Huebner.

“I’m unbelievably shocked and absolutely speechless that something like this could have happened,” he said.

Rolf Jacob, the head of the prison where Bakr was held, told reporters that a trainee guard checked on the prisoner at 730pm on Wednesday, and that when he returned for another check 15 minutes later he found him dead.

Jacob said authorities who assessed him when he entered the prison had noted there was a suicide risk but did not consider it acute. He said the suspect was checked on every quarter of an hour and given pants without a belt as a precaution.

17-Year Old Commits Suicide Over Pregnancy, Drops Note

A 17-year-old girl, (first name withheld) Saka has died after drinking local insecticide, Sniper in Igando area of Lagos State.

Lagos Metro gathered that the victim allegedly blamed her grandma for her death in a note which she left behind.

The elderly woman was arrested after Saka’s boyfriend had reported the case at Igando division.

A source explained that Saka was taken to her grandma’s house in Mofoluwasho Close to live with her after the death of her mother because she was the only child of her parents. Saka’s mother died
when the victim was only three years old.

The source said, “She had been living with her since then. The woman is a trader in Ikotun market and that was how the girl met with a guy whom she started dating. Whenever the woman was not around, she would bring the man home and he would spend the night with her.”

Another source disclosed that the woman was not pleased with the news that Saka was pregnant so, she insisted she packed out of the house.

“The grandma insisted that she moved out of the house to her boyfriend’s house. The woman packed her luggage outside the gate and the girl angrily left the house, took Sniper and drank it,” he said.

Residents said the victim began foaming in the mouth at her boyfriend’s house and was rushed to the Igando General Hospital where she was confirmed dead.

When the boyfriend saw the suicide note, he was said to have reported to the police.

A resident said, “The girl and the boyfriend loved each other. The man did not even reject the pregnancy. It was from the suicide note that the boyfriend saw that the girl accused her grandma of causing her death. He reported to the police with the note in his hand.

“The Police took the suicide note and arrested the woman. She was in tears at the bus stop as she kept saying she didn’t mean her any harm. It was a sad sight,” another resident said.

A resident, who identified himself as Goddey, appealed to the government to intervene in the increasing teenage suicides in the community.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.

She said Saka’s corpse had been deposited in a mortuary. “Her corpse has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy. Investigation is still ongoing,” he added.

Landlord Commits Suicide In Ibadan, Leaves Three-page Suicide Note.

A 48-year-old landlord on Tuesday hanged himself in Ibadan, leaving behind a three-page suicide note.

The incident happened in Idi-Ose along Akan road in Ona Ara Council Area of the city. The deceased, Popoola Adepoju, was found in his room dangling from a rope tied to a ceiling fan. Residents of the area said the father of three sent his children on an errand before taking his own life.

Adepoju’s wife told the police that her husband left the defunct National Electric Power Authority in Abeokuta two years ago but his entitlement was yet to be paid. She added that he had engaged himself in cement business on a small scale before his death.

His family initially refused to hand over the suicide note to the police but after the intervention of the general chairman of the Idi Ose community, Taiwo Alimi, it was taken to the Akanran Police Division. The deceased was interred in his house after the Divisional Police Officer at the station, Aliko Dankoli, gave the family permission to proceed with his burial arrangement.

A member of Four Square Gospel Church, where Adepoju worshipped with his family, said he attended Monday morning service in the church and never gave a sign of depression. He said, “Adepoju was a devout Christian, pious and was talented. He was always offering tangible suggestions whenever the Welfare Committee of the zone met. What could have informed this action is unclear.

We were together at the early morning service at our church on Monday. We usually have such service on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of every month. When I saw him last on Monday evening after the evening service, he never gave the premonition that he was going to commit suicide.”

A landlord in the area, who did not give his name, however gave a hint that the deceased was going through a difficult period.

He said that the deceased had wanted to sell his Honda car for N250,000 but only got a buyer who was ready to pay N150,000. He said Adepoju had planned to buy a smaller car to be used as taxi to supplement what he made from the small cement business he was doing.

He said, “he wanted to sell the car so he could buy a small vehicle which he would be using as cab to serve as a sustaining means of livelihood for his family. He however said that the amount being offered was insufficient.

He sometimes complained that things were no longer as they were before he was disengaged from work. It was a surprise when we discovered that this unfortunate incident had happened.

Why Our Staff Committed Suicide – FCMB Management Explains

First City Monument Bank Plc says its official, Olisa Nwakoby, who committed suicide on Friday in front of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Lekki, Lagos State, had personal challenges and became frustrated.

Why Our Staff Committed Suicide – FCMB Management ExplainsThe bank, however, noted that neither the management nor colleagues of the deceased were aware of the challenges, adding that it was working with Nwakoby’s family and the police to unravel the nature of the challenges.

Forty-four-year-old Nwakoby, said to be the manager of the bank’s branch in Lekki, shot himself in the head over a bad debt estimated at N350m on Friday.

The deceased was said to have given out the sum as loan to a bank customer, who allegedly failed to service the loan. He was reportedly under pressure from the bank’s management to repay the loan and became frustrated as he could not meet the demand.

But the Acting Group Head, Communications and Brand Management of the FCMB, Lola Egboh, said on Sunday that the suicide had nothing to do with the bank, adding that she did not have the knowledge of any loan.

Egboh, who described Nwakoby’s death as shocking, said the bank would have come to his aid if it was aware that he had emotional challenges.

She said, “It is rather unfortunate that the incident happened. Mr. Nwakoby was a member of staff of the FCMB. We are not aware that he was facing personal challenges, which led to the incident. As a bank that caters to the well-being of its workers, we have counsellors who could have helped him. This came as a surprise to us as it was to the public. It is such a trying time for the family; we have been in touch with them. There is a lot of speculations going on at the moment, a lot of them unfounded.

“We are working closely with security operatives and his family to understand what could have led to the personal challenges. I am not aware of any loan. I can’t comment on speculations.”

Efforts to speak with the family proved abortive as of press time. But a source close to the family said, “They were too distraught to speak to the press now.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said a pistol and live cartridges were recovered from the scene, adding that Nwakoby  corpse had been deposited at the Lagos Island Hospital’s morgue.

She said, “At about 9.45am on Friday, one Olisa (Nwakoby) allegedly shot himself in the head with a pistol in front of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Northern Foresore Estate, Lekki.

“A team of policemen attached to the Ilasan division visited, examined and photographed the scene. The exhibit, a silver America pistol with five rounds of unexpended ammunition, was recovered to the station while the corpse was removed and deposited at a morgue for autopsy. Investigation is ongoing.”

Six Killed In Suicide Attack At Mosque In Borno

Nigerian Army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman said the attack happened at about 5:15 am (0415 GMT) in the town of Damboa, some 90 kilometres (56 miles) southwest of the Borno state capital, Maiduguri.

He blamed the attack on “two Boko Haram terrorists”.

“The first suicide bomber targeted Damboa Central Mosque but due to stringent security measures he could not gain entry. Obviously frustrated, he exploded and died near the central mosque,” he added.

“However, the second bomber veered off and gained entry into another smaller mosque and detonated the bomb, killing himself and six other worshippers and injuring one other person.

“The wounded have been evacuated to a hospital while efforts are on to clear the rubble. Troops and other security agencies have been mobilised to the area.”

The attack is the latest against a mosque in northeast Nigeria and the wider Lake Chad region, as part of a campaign of violence by the Islamist group against civilian “soft” targets.

On June 27, two would-be suicide bombers were killed in Maiduguri, as they tried to target an overnight Ramadan vigil at a mosque on the Damboa Road.

Man Kills Wife, 8 Children, 2 Sisters & Parents, Commits Suicide

A 35-year-old chartered accountant allegedly stabbed and killed 14 members of his family and then committed suicide by hanging himself, around 30km from India’s financial capital Mumbai. The incident occurred on 28 February.

Hansil Warekar stabbed eight children, his wife, three sisters and parents at his bungalow at Ghodbadar road in Thane district at 2am IST (8.30pm GMTon 27 February). Local police said there was a party organised at his residence on Saturday (27 February) after which all the family members had gone to sleep, when the accused may have attacked them.

“Prima facie evidence suggests that the accused bolted all the doors of the house and murdered his family while they were asleep with a knife that we found near his body. The accused then hanged himself after killing his family. There were three rooms in the house. While he was in a room with his wife and two daughters on the first floor, his parents and sisters were in separate rooms on the ground floor,” said joint commissioner of Thane Police Ashutosh Dumbare.

Police learnt of the incident when one of the victims raised an alarm and Hansil’s in-laws who were in a house nearby called them. “Hansil slit the upper part of this victim’s throat. She survived the attack and screamed for help. The survivor’s in-laws, who were in the neighbouring house heard her cries and tried opening the door, but it was locked. The in-laws broke open the grill of a window on the ground floor and entered the house. It was then that the police were alerted about the incident,” the joint commissioner added.

Now, police are waiting for Hansil’s sister Subia Bharmar, the lone survivor of the attack, who has been admitted to a hospital, to reveal the reason behind the incident. “We have recorded the survivor’s statement. However, the exact cause that triggered her brother to kill her family and himself is still unclear. Our investigation is still underway,” Dumbare said.

The murder weapon, a knife, was found near Hansil’s body.

Texas Teenager Kills Mom, 2 Neighbors And Commits Suicide

A 19-year-old killed his mother and two neighbors before turning his gun on himself in a shooting that brought SWAT and various emergency vehicles to a rural area in Texas, authorities said Sunday.

Uvalde County Sheriff Charlie Mendeke said Dylan Westerburg gunned down his mother Friday afternoon in their home near Uvalde, about 85 miles west of San Antonio. He then went next door and killed two brothers, Arthur and Phinny Norton, Mendeke said.
Mendeke said investigators haven’t determined a clear motive for the shootings. Westerburg lived with his mother in a small cabin about 20 yards from the Nortons’ mobile home on the brothers’ property.
Phinny Norton, 60, had some “sort of romantic relationship” with Westerburg’s mother, 42-year-old Jennifer Diane Jacques, Mendeke said. Deputies had been called out to the property in the past because of domestic disputes but “nothing violent,” Mendeke said.
Authorities arrived at the scene after a teenage witness called them. The teenage boy was with Arthur Norton, 58, when they saw shotgun shells and broken glass as they approached the Nortons’ mobile home, Mendeke said.

“Mr. Norton enters the house,” Mendeke said. “The kid who was with him hears and sees a gun blast and sees Mr. Norton fall to the floor” before running to call authorities.

When officers arrived they heard another gunshot. Not knowing whether there were multiple gunmen or whether the gunman was dead, authorities surrounded the homes and began evacuating people nearby.
It was during that search that they found Jacques’ body. The family’s dog had also been killed.
Mendeke said he called in about 50 to 60 officers from different agencies as well as a Texas Department of Public Safety SWAT team out of caution. Authorities closed the road leading to the property and they stayed there overnight.

“I didn’t know how many shooters I had in the Norton residence when I found the mother,” he said. “You’re looking at farm- and ranchland. You could get into a dangerous situation.”

The SWAT team finally entered the Nortons’ mobile home on Saturday afternoon and found the Norton brothers and Westerburg dead inside. Mendeke said Westerburg had shot himself in the head.

Paedophile Commits Suicide On The Day He Was Due To Be Jailed

A paedophile committed suicide by throwing himself off a bridge on the day he was due to be sentenced, a court has heard.

Michael Fiek, 40, who was originally from Shoreditch, east London, was due to be sentenced at Leeds Crown Court – along with two other men.

But on the day of sentencing, Judge Tom Bayliss QC was told that Fiek had jumped to his death in London.

Fiek had been facing a lengthy jail sentence, after previously pleading guilty to 14 offences – including meeting a 15-year-old boy with another man and paying him for sex.

The men then took photos of the sexual activity before swapping them over the internet, Leeds Crown Court heard.

As the photos were exchanged, the men were said to have discussed their ‘strong sexual interest in young boys.’

Sentencing will proceed for the men accused alongside Fiek –  Andrew Lynes, 51, of Deighton Road, Huddersfield, and James Bould, previously of Swindon Road, Dewsbury.

The court previously heard how the men had described themselves as ‘committed paedophiles’.

19-Year-Old Girl Commits Suicide In Ebonyi, As Boyfriend Rejects Pregnancy

A 19-year-old lady, identified simply as Chiamaka, at the weekend committed suicide for being pregnant. Chiamaka took her life in her residence at No. 17 Nwike Street, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The lady, who hailed from Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state, was said to have hanged herself after her parents told her that they could not buy her what she had demanded for the Yuletide because they discovered she was pregnant.

A source close to the family said Chiamaka had, after discovering that she was pregnant, informed her boyfriend responsible for the pregnancy and who also lives in the same building but the boy
denied being responsible for the pregnancy.

“Chiamaka was not happy that her boyfriend denied her in her trying moment because her parents threatened to sanction her for being pregnant. “The parents were very angry about it because we, the neighbours, always hear when they quarrelled with her because of the pregnancy and she thought the best thing to do was to go to her boyfriend, at least to have a rest of mind.

“But she was disappointed that the boy denied her and I think this might be the reason why she hanged herself,” the source added. When our correspondent visited the house, most of the residents had fled the building for fear of arrest while residents of the street were discussing the incident in groups. When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) George Okafor, said he was yet to receive official report on the matter.

Wanted Paris Jihadist Changed His Mind As Suicide Bomb Belt Is Found In Paris Dustbin

A suicide bomber’s explosive belt – containing a volatile chemical nicknamed ‘Mother of Satan’ for the ease at which it is detonated – was tonight found by police dumped in the southern Paris suburb where terrorist fugitive Salah Abdeslam escaped the city.

The 26-year-old fled the bloodbath that left 130 dead on November 13th, rather than blowing himself up. Tonight’s find in a dustbin in Montrouge, in the Hauts-de-Seine department, is hugely significant because it supports the theory that Abdeslam abandoned his mission.

Police said the explosive belt was found in the place where Abdeslam’s mobile phone was operating on the day of the Paris attacks.

According to NBC News, a spokesperson for the prosecutors’ office confirmed a cell phone had also been found near the belt.

Investigators believe the jihadist gang that carried out eight coordinated attacks planned to strike another target but Abdeslam changed plans at the last minute.

Abdeslam’s brother, Brahim Abdeslam, blew himself up in a cafe near the Place de la Nation, but he chose to escape.

Abdeslam is thought to have driven the three Stade de France bombers to the stadium before moving on to the 18th arrondissement.Abdeslam, a French national, infamously hired the vehicles and hotel rooms used in the attacks. The next day he and two accomplices were stopped by a traffic patrol close to the Belgium border but then let go.

Groom Commits Suicide Because Of Pressure To Buy ‘Betrothal Gifts’

A man from east China’s Anhui province killed himself two weeks before the date of his wedding, reportedly due to the immense pressure to buy “betrothal gifts” for the bride’s family, according to his parents.

Xiaolei got engaged to his sweetheart, Lanlan, last December and was soon asked by his fiancé’s family for 10,000 yuan and other gifts. The total value of the “bride-price” came to more than 30,000
yuan.
A month later, however, the woman’s family asked for another 20,000 yuan and more gifts such as cigarettes and wine, which is thought to be the breaking point for Xiaolei. Sadly, he jumped from a construction site in Shanghai where he worked just two days after the family’s request.

Overwhelmed by their son’s death, Xiaolei’s parents have pointed the finger of blame at the family of the bride-to-be, Lanlan. They said Xiaolei complained to them once that the “endless” requests for gifts were “extortion” and unbearable.

On March 30, the parents sued Lanlan, demanding that they return all the cash and other gifts including jewelry worth more than 30,000 yuan and an iPhone. The court gave the verdict that all cash should be paid back but rejected the request of returning other goods

Mother Of Paris Suicide Bomber Says “STRESS” May Have Caused Her Son To Blow Himself Up

The mother of a Paris suicide bomber says her son ‘did not mean to kill anyone’ – and claims he may have blown himself up because of stress.

Ibrahim Abdeslam, 31, launched a solo attack outside the cafe Comptoir Voltaire, close to the scene of the Bataclan concert hall massacre on Friday night.

His brother Mohamed Abdeslam, a former council worker, was arrested in Molenbeek in western Brussels, a day after the attacks in the French capital, in which at least 129 were killed and hundreds more were injured.

Police missed their chance to bring in the third brother, Salah, when he was questioned as he crossed the border to Belgium after the attacks. He is now the object of a massive international manhunt.

Today their mother defended Ibrahim, suggesting his suicide jacket may have done off by accident and said he could have carried out the attack because he was ‘stressed’.

Speaking outside the family home, the Abdeslam family claimed that they were ‘surprised’ that Ibrahim blew himself up near the Stade de France, even though he had spent time in Syria.

Their mother, speaking to a reporter through her nephew – the bombers’ cousin – on the doorstep of the family home in Molenbeek, told Het Laatste Nieuws that they were sure he had not planned to kill anyone

‘This was not his plan, that’s for sure,’ she said. ‘The fact that his suicide belt exploded without killing anyone says a lot.’

The family added: ‘We even saw him two days before the attacks. There were no signs that they has plans to do anything violent.’

The family admitted he had spent ‘a long time’ in Syria.

‘We were really surprised that Salah was involved. Ibrahim was different. We did see that he had been radicalised, at least in part. But not so much that we ever thought he would commit an atrocity like this.’

Another family member at the brothers’ home claimed that he would not have wanted to become a suicide bomber: ‘Maybe the explosives went off prematurely by accident. Maybe it was stress.’

Prosecutors have identified Ibrahim, who seriously injured a bystander when he detonated his suicide bomb, as the man who rented a Seat car used in the attacks.

The vehicle was used by the terrorists who murdered diners outside the Casa Nostra pizza restaurant and the La Belle Équipe cafe.

It was found abandoned 20 minutes away in Montreuil with a cache of weapons inside.

  • The game was being watched by 80,000 spectators, among them was President Francois Hollande who had to be evacuated from the stadium.
  • The first explosion, a suicide bombing, was at an entrance to the stadium. A suicide bomber approached the gate with a match ticket when he was frisked by a security guard who turned him away.
  • He backed away from the gate and detonated his vest at about 8.20pm GMT near Gate D of the stadium, killing one other person. A passport with the name Ahmed Almuhamed, 25, from Syria, was allegedly found nearby.
  • A second suicide bomber, Bilal Hadfi, 20, blew himself up near Gate H several minutes later. No one else was reported killed. Hadfi is said to have fought with ISIS in Syria.

THIRD ATTACK: LE PETIT CAMBODGE AND LE CARILLON BAR

  • At 8.25pm GMT a separate team of gunmen arrived in a Black Seat and attacked diners at popular Cambodian restaurant Le Petit Cambodge and Le Carillon bar in the trendy Canal Saint-Martin area of eastern Paris, killing 15.

FOURTH ATTACK: LA CASA NOSTRA PIZZERIA AND LA BELLE EQUIPE BAR

  • The same unit then drove about 500 yards to La Casa Nostra pizzeria and opened fire on diners on the terrace of the restaurant, killing at least five people.
  • From there, the militants drove around a mile south-east – apparently past the area of the Bataclan concert venue – to launch another attack, this time on La Belle Equipe bar in Rue de Charonne. At least 19 people died after the terrace was sprayed with bullets at 8.38pm GMT. The attackers then drove off.

FIFTH ATTACK: CAFÉ ‘COMPTOIR VOLTAIRE’

  • Five minutes later, Ibrahim Abdeslam, 31, set off a suicide vest outside the outside cafe ‘Comptoir Voltaire’ on the Boulevard Voltaire and close to the Bataclan theatre. He hired a black Seat car used in the attack.

SIXTH ATTACK: BATACLAN MUSIC HALL

  • At 8.49pm GMT, the third group (believed to be three men and a woman) armed with AK-47s stormed the Bataclan music hall and began shooting members of the crowd. Survivors claim three blew themselves up and a fourth person was shot dead by police before they could detonate their bomb.

SEVENTH ATTACK: NEAR STADE DE FRANCE

  • At around 8.50pm GMT a third blast took place near the Stade de France, this time by a McDonald’s restaurant on the fringes of the stadium. The boom caused terror among spectators who had already been attempting to flee the stadium following the first two explosions. The attacker who detonated his suicide vest was identified as a 20-year-old French man living in Belgium.

AFTERMATH:

  • On Saturday morning, ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks across Paris, saying ‘eight brothers wearing explosive belts and carrying assault rifles’ conducted a ‘blessed attack on… Crusader France’.
  • On Saturday afternoon, three people travelling in a grey VW Polo were arrested at the French/Belgian border when police traced the car after it was sighted outside the Bataclan theatre at the time of the attacks.
  • One of the Stade de France suspects was found carrying a Syrian passport under the name Ahmed Almuhamed who travelled to France as a migrant through Greece on October 3. Ferry tickets reveal he travelled with another man named as Mohammed Almuhamed.
  • However, the French minister of justice Christiane Taubira said on Sunday that the passport under the name Ahmed Almuhamed was a fake.
  • Omar Ismaël Mostefai, 29, from Courcouronnes, Paris was also named as a Bataclan suicide bomber. The petty criminal and father-of-one was known to police as a radical and had travelled to Algeria and Syria. He was identified by the fingerprint on a severed digit found after he detonated his suicide belt.
  • Mostefai is believed to have been radicalised by a Belgian hate preacher of Moroccan descent claimed to have regularly preached at his mosque in South West France. His father, a brother and other family members have been held and are being questioned.
  • The black Seat Leon used by the terrorists who murdered diners outside the Casa Nostra pizza restaurant and the La Belle Équipe cafe was found abandoned 20 minutes away in Montreuil with a cache of weapons inside.
  • Seven people were detained in Belgium linked to the atrocities – three at the border and four in Brussels. Five are from the Molenbeek area of Brussels known as a ‘den of terrorists’.
  • Iraqi spies warned the West of an ISIS suicide bomber threat the day before the Paris atrocities, it was revealed on Sunday, as more details of major intelligence failures began to emerge. The US-led coalition in Syria was apparently told by Iraqi security sources that 24 extremists were involved in the terror operation planned in the ISIS capital Raqqa and it would involve 19 attackers including five others including bombmakers and planners. No detail was given of when or where an attack might take place.
  • It has also emerged that Turkey’s authorities foiled a plot to stage a ‘Jihadi John revenge attack’ in Istanbul – involving a high-profile British jihadist – on the same day as the deadly massacre in Paris.
  • From as far back as August, France’s authorities possessed information that militants were said to be planning attacks on French concert halls after a tip-off was received from a 30-year-old man who was detained on his way back from Syria.
  • On Sunday night there were 42 people still said to be in intensive care in hospital following Friday’s terrorist attacks.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

  • French police are still hunting for three gunmen on the run, including Brussels-born Frenchman Salah Abdeslam, and an ISIS bombmaker likely to have made the suicide vests.
  • An international arrest warrant has been issued for Abdeslam, 26, who is accused of renting a Volkswagen Polo used by the suicide bombers. He is one of three brothers believed to be at the heart of the eight-strong ISIS cell.
  • It emerged on Sunday night that police found Abdeslam near the Belgian border early Saturday but let him go after he showed them his ID card. Officers pulled over the car being driven by Abdelslam on Saturday morning on the A2 motorway between Paris and Brussels. Two other men were also in the Seat car. At the time, officers in Paris knew that Abdeslam had rented the car used by the killers which had been abandoned near the theatre but the information had not been transmitted to those responsible for conducting the border checks.
  • His brother Ibrahim, 31, blew himself up in a solo attack outside cafe Comptoir Voltaire after renting a black Seat found abandoned today filled with AK-47s and ammunition. A third sibling, named as Mohamed Abdeslam, has been arrested in the Belgian capital.
  • On Sunday evening the French defence ministry announced that the country’s warplanes had bombed Islamic State’s stronghold in Syria’s Raqa, destroying a command post and a training camp, the defence ministry said. Ten fighter jets were involved, dropping 20 bombs.

Minutes after Ibrahim launched his solo attack, another group of militants – believed to be three men and a woman – armed with AK-47s stormed the Bataclan music hall and began shooting members of the crowd.

Survivors claim three blew themselves up and a fourth person was shot dead by police before they could detonate their bomb.

Salah Abdeslam, 26, from a suburb of Brussels known as the ‘jihadi’ capital of Europe, is now the subject of a vast international manhunt – but incredibly he was stopped and then released by officers guarding the Belgian border hours after the attacks.

One of his brothers, Ibrahim Abdeslam, 31, was one of seven terrorists who died on Friday night after he blew himself up in a solo attack outside cafe Comptoir Voltaire. He had rented a black Seat found yesterday in Paris packed with AK-47s and ammunition.

The third sibling, Mohammed Abdeslam, was in custody in Belgium last night after being arrested in a Brussels, where the ISIS terror cell may have met before the raid to gather automatic weapons and suicide vests.

Seven people have been detained in Belgium linked to the atrocities – three at the border and four in Brussels. Five are from the Molenbeek area of Brussels known as a ‘den of terrorists’.

Police revealed today they had found the other vehicle used in the terror attacks – a black Seat Leon - abandoned in the Montreuil area of France. The car is not shown in this photo but smashed glass, believed to be from the vehicle, remains on the floor after it was driven off

It has emerged that a car rented by Salah Abdeslam was abandoned by the Bataclan Theatre, while a Seat rented by his brother Ibrahim was dumped in Montreull with three AK-47s and some ammunition. Adeslam was questioned as he approached the Belgian border and Sunday morning in a third car which was later abandoned in the Jihadi hotspot of Molenbeek, where he disappeared

French police have said homegrown terrorist Omar Ismaël Mostefai, 29, from Courcouronnes, Paris, was one of the Bataclan suicide bombers where 89 died while Belgian Bilal Hadfi, 20, who had spent time fighting with ISIS in Syria before returning to Europe, detonated his suicide vest at the Stade de France where three died.

One of Bataclan suspects was found carrying a Syrian passport under the name Ahmed Almuhamed who travelled to France as a migrant through Greece and blew himself up at the Stade de France.

Greek ferry tickets reveal he travelled to Europe with another man named as Mohammed Almuhamed.

This morning French security sources claimed the fourth terrorist now identified is Frenchman Samy Aminour, 28, after a series of raids on addresses on the Parisian suburbs of Seine-Saint-Denis and Bobigny linked to his family overnight.

Police believe he was a part of the team of four terrorists who killed 89 at the Bataclan rock gig.

He is said to have been known to French anti-terror police since 2012 when he was prosecuted for trying to flee France for Yemen.

The French interior ministry confirmed that anti-terror police conducted 168 raids across the country overnight.

They have arrested dozens of people following the deadly attacks in Paris on Friday.

Heavily armed tactical units launched dozens of raids in Toulouse, Grenoble, Calais and two Paris suburbs.

Wanted man: Serbian media says this is 25-year-old Ahmed Almuhamed, left and right, whose Syrian passport is pictured, who blew himself up at the Bataclan concert hall and is believed to have sneaked into France with another terrorist by posing as refugees from Syria

As the three brothers were identified the latest terrorist was named as Belgian Bilal Hadfi, 20, (pictured) who had spent time fighting with ISIS in Syria before returning to Europe and detonating his suicide vest at the Stade de France

Officers searched the Molenbeek area of Brussels (pictured), which is home to a large Turkish and Moroccan community, after a parking ticket found on a grey VW Polo parked outside the Bataclan theatre in Paris was found to have been issued from the Brussels district

They have arrested dozens of suspects and have seized a cache of weapons including a rocket launcher.

The down-at-heel suburb of Molenbeek in Brussels has been dubbed ‘a den of terrorists’ by Belgian media because it has repeatedly featured in attacks

The Islamist who killed people at a Paris kosher grocery in January at the time of the attack on the magazine Charlie Hebdo acquired weapons in the district.

Ayoub El Khazzani, the man behind August’s foiled attack on an Amsterdam-Paris train, had been staying in Molenbeek with his sister before initiating his strike.

Moroccan-born gunman Khazzani, 26, lived with his sister in Molonbeek, Brussels, weeks before his attempted attack on the Thalys train.

He stayed with his sister, who lives on the same road where two of the arrests were made in relation to the Paris attacks.

Several people spotted El Khazzani in the area where his sister lives in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek.

The sister was questioned by anti-terror detectives in Brussels. Now part of their investigation is around whether El Khazzani and the suspects planned the separate attacks.

Independence Day Bombing: Okah Attempts Suicide In Court

There was a mild drama at the Federal High Court in Abuja as the alleged mastermind of the October 1, 2010 Independence Day bombing, Charles Okah, threatened to end his trial when he attempted to take his life.

Okah, who is standing trial for terrorism, sought the permission of the trial judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole, to air his views over what he termed “endless trial”, due to his lawyer’s absence in court.

Justice Kolawole obliged his request, and Okah said that he had been incarcerated for about five years now and he had a family to cater for.

He further said that his children would grow up without feeling the warmth of their father.

Charles Okah, who expressed frustration about the endless trial, ended his emotional statement after about five minutes, reached for a chair in the court and quickly moved towards a window.

He was, however, overpowered by lawyers and other litigants who prevented him from breaking the louvers.

Man Commits Suicide Over Unpaid 13 Months Salary

Tears flowed freely in the home of a middle aged engineer with the Bayelsa State Water Board, Peter Ogiero, who committed suicide by taking a popular insecticide ‘Sniper’ over unpaid 13 months salaries by the state government.

Ogiero took his life on Tuesday after waiting in vain for 13 months without salary and without a kobo to take care of his family and his failing health, as government failed to meet its financial obligations to the board’s employees.

It was gathered that the deceased, a father of four, whose only means of livelihood was his salary, succumbed to frustration after he was diagnosed to be hypertensive. He had a stroke about one year ago when he found it extremely difficult to care for himself, let alone his wife and four children.

A neighbor, who was seen wailing uncontrollably, said that in the midst of the man’s travail, his second wife (who he married after the death of his first wife) abandoned him and left for their village along with three of their children.

A promising vet who accused her husband of having an affair hung herself in a hotel room and left a note to the ‘other woman’
Nicole Putney, 32, was once named Vet Student of the Year and was described as a “very talented young lady” but had become extremely depressed following the breakdown of her five-month marriage.
She killed herself after travelling to Manchester to attend a business conference and that she left a suicide note for a woman she believed was having an affair with her scientist husband.

The accomplished animal welfare expert told her dad that she was about to commit suicide.
Staff at the Novotel in Worsley, Greater Manchester were alerted by a friend of Ms Putney but were unable to get to her in time.

In his statement,Simon Mueller, a physicist at the International Energy Agency claimed her mental illness caused a strain in their marriage. He said

My relationship with my wife was harmonious to begin with. She quit her job and moved to Paris to be with me and our goal was to move to London.Nicole moved her things to Paris in late September 2014 but didn’t handle the transition very well. Our relationship deteriorated over a period of time.”

Mr Mueller said his wife had first attempted suicide by taking an overdose at some time in 2014, after he’d left their home to meet a friend. He said he called an ambulance after he returned home and found his then fiancee with a knife, pills and a note.
In another failed attempt just before their wedding, the statement said his wife had tried to hang herself.

“She made another suicide attempt in January 2015, she tried hanging herself and the fixation point collapsed.Despite those events, we decided to follow through with our planned marriage which was on January 9 2015.”

After their wedding Ms Putney began looking for jobs in London and it wasn’t long before she accepted an offer but that led to additional strain in their relationship.

“In the following months, she started looking for jobs in London,She was offered one and we continued to have problems because I decided I would not quit my job in Paris straight away. We visited London on March 7. We had an argument and she told me she was going out to get a drink, then she text me saying she was going to jump in front of a train. “She was found and taken to an emergency care ward where she was hospitalised until 27 April.

Later that month and ten days before her death, Mr Meuller told the inquest that his wife had asked for a divorce.

Man Sets Himself On Fire Outside Japanese Embassy

An 81 year old South Korean man identified simply as Choi set himself on fire this morning Wednesday, August 12th outside the Japanese embassy in Seoul during a large protest over Japan’s forced recruitment of sex slaves to service military brothels during World War II.

Other protesters tried to douse the fire with blanket and bottled water before emergency services arrived. He was eventually removed to an ambulance and rushed to the hospital. Fortunately his condition is not critical and he is expected to recover eventually.

The protest on Wednesday drew close to 1,000 protestors to the embassy ahead of Saturday’s 70th anniversary of the end of Japan’s 1910-45 colonial rule over the Korean peninsula. Although Japan insists the issue was settled in the 1965 bilateral agreement that restored diplomatic ties between the two nations, which saw Tokyo make a total payment of $800 million in grants or loans to its former colony, South Korea says Japan has still not done enough to atone for the forced recruitment of South Korean women to work in Japanese military brothels as so-called “comfort women”.

The issue has strained relations between South Korea and Japan for years with South Korean President Park Geun-Hye saying there can be no meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe until Japan makes full amends.

Self-immolation in South Korea was common during the pro-democracy movement of the 1980s and early-90s, when a number of student activists set themselves on fire during public demonstrations. A 56-year-old disabled man died after setting himself on fire in a dispute with his landlord five months ago.

Healthy Nurse Decides To Die At 75 Rather Than Grow Old

A healthy former nurse decided to end her life than grow old and be a burden to her family.
Gill Pharaoh, 75, was not suffering from a terminal disease or depression .She travelled to the Lifecircle clinic in Basel, Switzerland where Dr Erika Preisig assisted in her suicide on July 21st.

In a blog post she wrote just days before her journey to Switzerland, she explained the events that led up to her decision to end her life.

“Until I was seventy I was very fit and able to fully participate in any activity I wanted to do. I felt I could still be busy and useful and fairly productive. “Then I had a severe attack of Shingles and it all changed. At seventy five I am told I look ok and I take no medication. However, I feel my life is complete and I am ready to die. My family are well
and happy –their lives are full and busy. I can no longer walk the distances I used to enjoy so the happy hours spent exploring the streets of London are just a memory now.”There is nowhere I want to visit enough to spend hours in an aeroplane or airport,” she wrote.

She insisted she was not depressed and enjoyed her life day to day. But she said she did not want to deteriorate to the stage where she needed a lot of help.
She didn’t want to become a burden to her children, or have a professional carer, whom she said are frequently “abused, poorly paid, poorly trained, with no prospects of developing a career.”
Her family, including her two children, Caron and Mark, struggled to cope with her decision.

“I have had to make my exit while I am in my right mind and capable of doing so without too much assistance, because I am afraid of compromising the people around me whom I love.I have had to do this outside my home, and without telling too many people for the same reason. I have written my goodbyes and tidied my life and hope I have managed to exit as unobtrusively as possible. I have always held a donor card but that will be redundant now.”
“If I could have booked my death quite openly, I could have had a party before I died, in the way that people have done, and continue to do, in Switzerland and other places.
“In which case, perhaps any of my body parts that could be reused could be collected immediately. I could also be sure that I will never be an old lady blocking beds in a hospital ward. This would save the NHS a fortune.”

She was accompanied to the Swiss clinic by her husband, John, who she described as the “love of her life”.
She spent her final night alive wandering through the old part of Basel, before sharing a meal on the banks of the Rhine.

John told the Sunday Times: “The whole evening was very tranquil and enjoyable. I think it is what we both wanted. Gill had been thinking about it for years and I had no intention of spoiling it by getting emotional and heavy.”

Man Commits Suicide in Abuja Over Failed Marriage

A father of four, who lived at Jiwa in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), last Saturday, committed suicide.
He allegedly drank a dangerous substance, suspected to be an insecticide after several attempts to bring back his wife, who left her matrimonial home along with their children.
Family sources, who spoke to City News on condition of anonymity, informed that the late Sunday Ogul, who hailed from Kogi State, parted ways with his wife about three months ago, during which he threw out her belongings at night after a misunderstanding.
He, however, became more worried recently when he unsuccessfully tried to bring her back from their village, the family source added.
A family member of the deceased, who did not want his name mentioned, explained that the deceased had visited his wife in their village to negotiate how she would return with their children.

The source added that he gave her the sum of N10,000 for transportation from the village to Abuja.
“When he came back, he sent additional N5,000 to her through a bank, and lastly, N15,000, all in an effort to bring her back. But all his efforts were in vein, as she had informed him that her parents did not give their approval for her return,’’ the source said.
Also speaking, the deceased’s landlord, said he once told him that he was more worried about their children’s education, especially as they were not in school since they relocated. He revealed that his tenant’s lifeless body was first discovered by a friend, who visited him.
“The friend, who called his name severally from outside without response, had to go inside, where he also called him without response. It was at this juncture that his friend discovered he was no longer breathing, and noticed an empty container of insecticide behind him.
The deceased wife could not be reached for comment on the incident as she was said to be in their village in Kogi State.
When our reporter visited the Gwagwa Police Station, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) was not on seat but a senior police officer at the station confirmed the incident.

Irish Schoolboy Blackmailed by Nigerian Gang Kills Himself

The parents of a 17 year old boy who took his own life have said a Nigerian gang was blackmailing him over intimate photographs.

According to the BBC, Gerard and Teresa Hughes said the gang tricked their son, Ronan, into posting the intimate images on a social networking site, demanded more than £3,000 from him and then sent the images to his friends on social media.

Speaking to the Irish News, they criticised police “inaction” after the 17-year-old revealed what was going on. Ronan’s parents told the newspaper that his death, less than two weeks ago, could have been prevented.

Speaking for the first time since their son’s death on 5 June, the couple described their son’s online
blackmailers as “relentless”. They said he was being blackmailed over images he posted online after receiving photographs from a girl.
His mother said:

“We want there to be changes so if a child out there is being bullied online they can go to the police or other authorities with their concerns. We don’t want another family to go through what we’ve gone through.”

Ronan’s parents told the Irish News that their son, a pupil at St Joseph’s Grammar in Donaghmore, had confided in them three days before his death about a fake Facebook account. He said the blackmailers said they would send the images to his online friends unless he paid £3,300 within 48 hours.

Ronan died just hours after learning that his blackmailers had carried out their threat.

  • ‘Worried’

His parents believe he would still be alive if his case had been treated more urgently by the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

“His biggest worry was that his friends would see these images, ” Mr Hughes said.

But when he took his son to Dungannon police station, they were told there was only one officer on duty.

“A policeman said to us there was very little they could do as he was there on his own that night.
“He scribbled down a few notes and told us to ignore the blackmail. He told us to come back the next morning.
“I knew Ronan was looking for help and I told him that all my son wanted is for these images not to be posted. He told us that he couldn’t guarantee that. For Ronan, it was totally dismissive.”

He said if the police had given Ronan an assurance that they would close the site down, he “would still be here today”. They returned to the police station the next day where they spent several hours and Ronan’s phone was taken. However, they heard nothing more from the police.

The Nigerian site was closed within two days of the tragedy.

A 32-year-old housewife, Nancy (surname withheld) in Okpanam Community, near Asaba Delta State, has allegedly stabbed herself to death following the failure of the husband to fulfill his conjugal responsibility at the weekend.

It was reliably gathered that the woman, an evangelist with a prominent church in the area, had complained bitterly to her relations about her husband’s “weakness” during sexual intercourse, threatening that she cannot stand it anymore.

But insiders said that she got married to the man, a highly placed mechanical engineer (name withheld) without premarital sex, and is said to have grumbled after the situation confronted her.

Father Executes Whole Family, Then Himself After Googling Depression & How To Slit Human Throats

A father has stabbed his wife and two daughters to death after researching how to cut someone’s throat – then lived with their bodies for a weekend before hanging himself, an inquest has heard.

The bodies of Jitendra Lad, 49, his wife, Dukshaben Lad, 44, and their daughters, Trisha, 19, and Nisha, 16, were discovered at their home in Clayton, Bradford, last October – days after celebrating Diwali as a family.

Mr Lad was found hanged and the three other members of the ‘model’ family had all been stabbed in their beds with a knife, in what a coroner described as a ‘scene of unimaginable horror’.

Bradford Coroner’s Court heard that Mrs Lad, also known as Daksha, and her two daughters were probably killed in the early hours of Saturday October 25.

But Mr Lad was seen by a number of people later the same weekend and probably killed himself on the Monday afternoon, two days later, the court heard.

The hearing was told how Mr Lad had no medical history of mental illness and relatives and friends said they appeared to be a normal, loving family.

But Detective Sergeant Duncan Jackson told the hearing in Bradford how Mr Lad had accessed the internet on his phone in the weeks before his death to research depression and, just days before the tragedy, he searched ‘how to cut someone’s throat and executions’.

The hearing also heard that Mr Lad had been stressed at work as an IT manager, and was concerned he had been overpromoted.

Det Sgt Jackson however told the court about an incident in Ibiza in August 2014 when the family was on holiday.

He said a woman, Lee Cartwright, told officers about a conversation she had with Mr Lad by a swimming pool in which he said he ‘disliked his current job and wanted to do something better’.

She said he went on to say how he was ‘dreading turning 50’, said he did not like Bradford and wanted to live abroad but had a duty of care to his mother.

According to the police officer, ‘Mrs Cartwright was left with the impression Jitendra was unhappy with his life’.
