Man who set own son ablaze banished from community

For killing his biological son, the Omu-Aran Traditional Council has banished a commercial motorist, Kehinde Akangbe, from the community.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, learnt that the directive for Mr. Akangbe, a.k.a. Surutu, to vacate the community within one week emanated from the council after its weekly meeting last Friday.

NAN reports that late last year, Sola, a 22-year-old wheelbarrow pusher, died from wounds he sustained from a fire allegedly set on him by his father.

The late Sola was accused of stealing an undisclosed amount of money from some road-side beggars in Omu-Aran when he was caught and handed over to his father.

The father was said to have allegedly taken his son to a nearby bush along Omu-Aran/Isanlu-Isin road, tied his hands and legs, and set him ablaze.

Sola, who was still alive when he was rescued, told his rescuers that his father was responsible for the act.

The father has since been on trial by the council for the crime.

Speaking on the development on Monday, Azeez Adeniyi, the spokesperson for the Omu-Aran Traditional Council, said Mr. Akangbe’s action was a bad precedence and contrary to the community’s laid down rules and regulations.

Mr. Adeniyi said the council could not come to terms with Kehinde’s actions and took the step to send a strong warning to other would-be criminals or offenders in the community.

He disclosed that the council had formally informed the Isin Traditional Council in Isanlu-Isin, where Mr. Akangbe hails from, about the vacation order.

Mr. Adeniyi said Mr. Akangbe had also been duly informed of the council’s directive, adding that failure to abide by the directive would attract further sanctions.

The traditional ruler of Omu-Aran, Charles Ibitoye, said the community would continue to extend its hands of hospitality and friendship to peace-loving and patriotic citizens, irrespective of ethno-religious or political affiliations.

He urged the people to imbibe unity and peaceful co-existence, and to shun acts capable of heating up the polity.

Man storms house party, kills ex-wife, son, 9 others, before shooting self in the head.

A gunman stormed a house party and killed 11 people, including his former wife and eight-year-old son, before shooting himself in the head during a New Year’s party in southeastern Brazilian.

Police say the shooter, 46-year-old Sidnei Ramis de Araújo, was angry over a split with his wife, Isamara Filier, 41, who is the mother of his son, João Victor.

Three other people remain hospitalized, police said, while four people survived the attack unharmed.

One party attendee managed to flee to a bathroom and phone the police when the shooting began at the property in the city of Campinas late on Saturday.

A gunman stormed a house party and killed 11 people in southeastern Brazil. Among the victims are the shooters ex-wife Isamara Filier, 41, and their son João Victor

Survivors, according to a police spokesman, said that just before midnight, the shooter jumped over a fence surrounding the house, burst through a door and began firing even as he berated Filier for taking their son.

Araújo possibly sought to take advantage of the commotion of New Year’s Eve to disguise the shooting, police said.

One neighbor told local television that he and his family heard shots, but had thought they might be fireworks until one of the wounded ran to their property, bleeding and pleading for help.

At least one of those wounded escaped by running to a neighbor’s house. Neighbor Christiano Machado said he heard the shots a little before midnight but assumed they were fireworks.

‘When we opened the gate to go into the street to see the fireworks, the celebrations, a wounded person came into our yard. He entered, asking for help,’ he said in a video posted on the G1 news portal.

Despite high rates of crime and violence in Brazil, including significant problems with assaults against women, the attack alarmed Latin America’s biggest country on a holiday associated with family gatherings.

The shooting took place in Campinas, an industrial and university city of over 1 million residents, is located about 100 kilometers (60 miles) northwest of the city of São Paulo

Gun deaths are common in heists, holdups and in confrontations among police, drug gangs and other criminals in Brazil, but targeted mass shootings are rare.

Police said Araújo, reported by local media to be a laboratory technician, used a 9 mm pistol and carried two additional clips, extra ammunition, a knife and unspecified but unused explosives.

Investigators are analyzing the explosives in addition to a cell phone and audio recorder found in a car he parked outside the home to determine whether Araújo left any sort of message about his attack.

Police said they did not yet know if Araújo had a history of violence, or whether he had been known to physically harm or threaten his former wife before the attack.

Campinas, an industrial and university city of over 1 million residents, is located about 100 kilometers (60 miles) northwest of the city of São Paulo, Brazil’s biggest metropolis.

Akwa Ibom government rejects NSE, SON’s plan to investigate church building collapse

The Akwa Ibom State government has rejected the plans by the Nigeria Society of Engineers, NSE, the Standard Organisation of Nigeria, SON, and any other interested organisation to investigate the collapse of a church building in the state.

The Nigeria police said 27 people lost their lives, while 37 were injured when an uncompleted structure housing the Reigners Bible Church, Uyo, collapsed on Saturday during a ceremony to enthrone the founder of the church, Akan Weeks, as a bishop.

The building collapsed shortly after the ceremony started around 10 a.m., with heavy iron beams falling on worshipers, including women and children.

The state governor, Udom Emmanuel, escaped unhurt, while the Secretary to the State Government, Etekamba Umoren, the Commissioner for Information, Charles Udoh, and the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ekerete Udoh, were said to have sustained some injuries.

The NSE and SON have reportedly made public their plans to investigate the tragic incident.

The NSE investigation committee, according to Channels Television, visited the site of the collapsed building.

The committee was led by Charles Ukoh, a former vice president of Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN.

Mr. Ukoh was quoted by Channels as saying that his committee would carry out proper investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to the incident.

“He (Mr. Ukoh) promised that the committee would present an unbiased report that can be confirmed anywhere in the world,” the TV station reported.

SON, through its Akwa Ibom State Coordinator, Dauda Mshelia, was reported to have also made a similar visit to the site, and took away samples of materials used for the construction for laboratory analysis to find out the cause of the collapse.

But the state government has come out to reject such plans by the NSE and SON.

“Government wishes to urge members of the public to discountenance any purported claims of enquiry or investigations into this tragedy by any organisation or entity,” the state government said in a press statement issued, Wednesday, by the spokesperson to the governor, Ekerete Udoh.

“The Panel set up by Government is made up of seasoned professionals in the engineering and building profession and the work of the panel will be independent, fair and thorough,”

The government barred unauthorized persons or groups from having further access to the site.

The panel of enquiry into the incident will commence work immediately, the government assured.

“We wish to restate for the avoidance of doubt that any persons found culpable would be made to face the full weight of the law irrespective of tribe, religion or status in the society,” the statement said.

“Government is set to streamline the processes involved in the monitoring and enforcement of relevant building regulations, especially with regard to public buildings to ensure that they meet professional standards.

“Henceforth only public buildings which have passed the necessary safety certifications would be allowed to host public events.

“Government is committed to doing all that is necessary to ensure that this unprecedented event never happens again.”

Chris Ekpenyong, an engineer and former deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, was part of the NSE delegation which visited the site of the collapsed church building.

When reporters contacted Mr. Ekpenyong, he said the aim of their visit to the site wasn’t to investigate the incident, but to rather have first hand information before making plans to pay a condolence visit to the state governor.

“We couldn’t commiserate with the governor, without first going to the site to see what happened.

“We are not supposed to set up a panel, it is the government that should do that,” Mr. Ekpenyong said.

N1tn Abuja Land Scam: EFCC Seizes 12 Properties From Bala Mohammed, Son

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has seized at least 12 properties from a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed, and his son, Shamsudeen Bala.

It was learnt on Tuesday that the seizures were part of investigations into a controversial land swap deal carried out by the minister to the tune of N1tn between 2010 and 2015.

“So far, we have seized about 12 properties from Bala Mohammed and his son, who he used in buying many properties. However, this is just a tip of the iceberg because we found out that there are still a lot of properties to be recovered’’, a source in the EFCC said on Tuesday.

“After investigations, we will arraign Bala (ex-minister) before an FCT High Court while his son will be arraigned before a Federal High Court anytime from now, the source added.”

Mohammed, who has been in EFCC custody for over six weeks, is alleged to have entered into some controversial land deals and allegedly gave some landed properties to his cronies for the construction of malls.

The source said, “We have evidence that the ex-minister diverted funds from Internally Generated Revenue. He also gave land arbitrarily to friends without following due process. Some of the land had even been allocated to other people but seized from them unjustly.”

Already, the commission has grilled a former Chairman of Skye Bank, Tunde Ayeni, who was also the Chairman of ASO Savings & Loans Plc over the purchase of the N7.5bn ASO Grove Estate at the Maitama area of Abuja by the bank through the ex-minister.

Mom Reportedly Poisoned Her Cancer-Stricken Son With Faeces

While her teenage son underwent hospital treatment for leukemia, 41-year-old Tiffany Alberts spent much of her time at his bedside, supporting him in his fight against the disease. Oh, and allegedly injecting his IV drip with “fecal matter” on multiple occasions, in what she later told police was an attempt to get him better treatment.

Alberts’ son, one of her five children, contracted a number of “unexplainable infections” while in hospital — infections which were later linked back to organisms normally found in feces. Following an investigation, surveillance footage from his hospital room, however, showed Alberts tampering with his IV line. (It’s not clear what suspicions led doctors to monitor the boy’s room.) At first she told police she was simply “flushing” the IV as the medicine prescribed was causing pain, but local news station Fox 2 Now reports she later confessed to the poop injections — court documents filed in the case against her reveal she claimed “she did it to get her son moved to another unit that had better treatment.”

Instead, however, she’s made her son’s condition far worse — the infections have severely affected his prognosis, though his condition is now said to be improving. Doctors told Fox 2 that “he’s required several surgeries to changes his central venous line due to concern for infection,” and that “he could have died from any one of the episodes of septic shock.” Also, the delays in his treatment have meant the chemo is less likely to keep his cancer in remission.

Alberts has been charged with six counts of aggravated battery and one count of neglect of a dependent.

EFCC Arrests Two SON Directors For Alleged N1.3bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two directors of the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) over alleged N1.3billion in the agency.

More staff of the organization might be questioned in the next few days.

Also, a prosecution witness has opened up on how $752,000 (about N229million) was deposited in the VISA Gold account of a former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Badeh.

The witness said the huge cash was lodged by Badeh’s aide-de-camp (ADC) and orderly.

But the arrest of two directors of the SON was a major breakthrough for the anti-graft agency.

A reliable source said: “The two directors have been arrested and questioned for their alleged role in a N1.3billion fraud scandal rocking the agency.

“One of the directors is currently in the custody of the anti-graft agency, while the other, who is an assistant director, was arrested a few weeks ago and released on administrative bail after making a statement before a team of detectives.

“The arrest of the directors was pursuant to the investigation into a petition received by the agency from a body known as Peculiar Systems Services dated February 24, 2016.

“The body alleged gross financial mismanagement and embezzlement of public funds to the tune of N200million in the SON.

“ But in the course of the investigation, EFCC operatives found that more than N1.3billion was siphoned from the coffers of the SON by the affected directors and their collaborators in bogus payments.

“What we are doing now is profiling the accounts of the affected staff to determine their levels of involvement. We are determined to bring all those directly involved n the fraud to book”.

Rapper Snoop Dogg’s Son Accused of Rape

Snoop Dogg’s 22 year old son, Corde Broadus is being accused of raping a pornstar. The pornstar, Leya Falcon went on Facebook yesterday and described a horrible encounter that she claims happened between her and the “son of a celebrity.”

She alleges she was drugged and raped.

She didn’t mention the person’s name but ‘Therealpornwikileaks.com’ identified the person she was talking about as Snoop Dogg’s son Corde Broadus and claimed they got Leya’s permission to post her full story on their site. Read after the cut…

Here is how she started off her allegations:

I remember way back when I was a young girl seeing your father, listening to your father, basically idolizing your father, so when I found out that he had a television show showcasing him and his family I was nothing short of ecstatic, I tuned into it every single week.

Though I watched it mainly for your father, I thought you were the cutest little thing and the way the show portrayed your family is that yourself and your siblings were raised very well, I was disappointed when the show was cancelled but that was that until a few years later about a year after

I started my career in adult films I came across something someone re-tweeted of you and I clicked and thought wow that cute little boy grew up into a very attractive man but I should have left it at that.

On the way to my car I took another sip of my drink and asked you to hold my cup for a second while

I put my jacket on because I was a little cold and that is where I firmly believe you very stealthily snuck something into my drink, something that would immobilize me, erase my memory and allow you to do whatever it was you wanted to do to me.

We got into my car, you went into the driver’s seat, I plugged in my ipod, took another sip of my drink and went back to trying to find a good song on my ipod to listen to on the way to wherever we were going to decide to go and the next thing I know is I wake up naked, completely disoriented, my vagina feeling swollen and torn like never before, I was covered in vomit and somehow made it upstairs to the room I was staying in.

My Son’s Death A Relief, Says Mother Of 23 Year Old Who Died Struggling For Gun

A vigilance group commander in the Oke Aro area of Ogun State, Quadri Adesina, has been arrested by the police after an alleged accidental discharge from his gun killed a 23-year-old man, Yusuf Azeez.

Azeez reportedly wanted to wrest the gun from the suspect when a bullet hit him in the thigh. He was rushed to a hospital in the area, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

It was learnt that the deceased’s mother, 42-year-old Toyin Akintayo, had invited Adesina and his colleagues to her residence on CAC Street, Oke Aro, around 8pm on Tuesday to apprehend Azeez, who allegedly threatened to kill her.

It was gathered that Azeez had arrived at home on that day at about 6pm and requested his dinner. The mother was said to have explained to him that she didn’t have enough money to prepare a meal.

Trouble started after the mother, who sells confectionery, gave him N200 to buy food, saying that was all she could afford. He reportedly smashed a bottle on the ground and vowed to kill her.

The mother said, “I wanted to break my fast on that day with garri when he arrived at home. I said there was no kerosene in the stove to prepare food for him and his younger brother. I gave him N200 and the brother N70. He said the N200 was small and threw it at me.

“I explained to him that it was all I had and that we wouldn’t have been in the situation if he did not steal the compressor of my freezer, which I used to sell ice blocks. I also advised him to find a job. He became angry and started threatening me with a knife and the shard of a bottle. He said he would not allow me to sleep at home that night and vowed to kill me.

“I sneaked out to call members of a vigilance group beside our house. They followed me home and tried to pacify him. He fought them and fought for the control of  a gun that one of them carried. The gun exploded in the process and he was injured in the thigh. He died at a hospital near here.”

Akintayo described her son’s death as a relief to her, saying she could no longer endure the shame his notoriety for “stealing and street fighting” had brought to the family.

She added that his son’s gang members stormed her house on Wednesday and threatened that she would pay for Azeez’s death.

She said, “I enrolled him in three different secondary schools, he dropped out. I took him to five different furniture experts to learn the work, he absconded. He went into barbing; I gave him N85,000 to rent a shop and furnished it for him. He didn’t go to the shop until the rent expired.

“His death is a relief to me and the family. He was too troublesome. There was a time he beat up an Oodua Peoples Cogress member while we were living in Idimu (Lagos). I spent a lot of money on the man’s treatment.

“A few weeks ago, he fought in Agege. He was seriously injured. He had been arrested many times by the police for several offences.”

The suspect, 48-year-old Adesina, who is in detention at the Agbado Police Division, said Azeez had beaten the two security guards that accompanied him to the scene, adding that he only wanted to prevail on him from causing further havoc when his gun exploded.

He said, “There was no light when we entered the building. He attacked us and two of my boys fled. I told him that I came to make peace. He said he didn’t fear my gun. He descended on me and wanted to snatch it. We were dragging it with each other when it exploded. I didn’t kill him. He would have killed me and his mother if he had access to the gun.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The Divisional Police Officer of the station, CSP Abioye Shittu, led operatives to the scene and the suspect has been arrested. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta.”

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has said that it will double its efforts to help Nigeria achieve her quest for a diversified economy.

The Director General (SON), Mr. Osita Aboloma, during an inspection visit to the agency’s offices in Enugu and Anambra States recently, said SON has a vital role to play in turning around the nations’ fortune, noting that the Nigeria’s quest for a robust agricultural economy and a strong Industrial development will be realised if the machines and equipment in the SON engineering laboratory, Enugu are fully utilised.

Aboloma noted that the diversification of the economy will bring to bear, doubled efforts in terms of quality and standards, streesing that Nigerians should expect more from the organisation, and therefore, charged staff of the agency to be upright in all aspects of their duties in order to win the confidence of Nigerians.

He emphasised the need to achieve zero tolerance to substandard products in Nigeria, and enjoined the staff to make the best use of the equipment in a way that manufacturers in the country would have no cause to look outside the shores of the country in standardisation and quality assurance of their products.

The Director General noted that the equipment in the laboratory, if well and fully utilised, could cater for Nigeria’s industrialisation demands, which is a component of the National Quality Infrastructure that includes testing and conformity assessment.

Aboloma said though he is in SON to pilot the affairs of the organisation, but stated that his direction will be the same with that of the staff which is to take SON to the next level and also promised to improve on all laudable projects that are ongoing in the organisation including human capital development and staff welfare scheme.

He implored the staff to be good ambassadors of the organisation and change their attitude to work so that SON will be a pace setter for others to follow.

Mom Murders Her 17 Month Old Son As Punishment For Her Boyfriend’s Infidelities

A Pennsylvania mother-of-two was charged with murder and attempted murder on Tuesday after smothering her 17-month-old son to death and attempting to kill her 2-year-old daughter.

The terrifying attack allegedly took place after Christian Clark, 21, got into a fight with her boyfriend, Andre Price Jr., over text message after accusing him of cheating on her. Clark then began to threaten she would kill their two children if he did not return home, before following through with her threats to “ruin both our lives.”

After killing their son, People reports Clark blamed the death on her boyfriend, texting him, “Andre is dead cus daddy couldn’t tell the truth.” She allegedly then continued to berate Price with text messages, asking him to admit to his infidelities or else his children would suffer more harm. Eventually, she texted photos and videos of the children to her boyfriend as well, including one where their son is lying facedown on the bed and appears to be lifeless.

Later, Clark allegedly told Clark that he can just “make new kids” with whomever he was cheating on her with, before asking him if it was “easier planning your child’s funeral or telling your babies’ mom you didn’t want to be around her.” In her final text, she apologized — “Sorry I did this. I [swear to God] I didn’t mean to.” — then called 911.

Paramedics arrived on the scene and rushed Clark’s son to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Clark’s daughter suffered minor injuries.

Clark is currently being held at the Allegheny County Jail without bond. At this time, charges will likely not be brought against Price.

SON to check production of substandard blocks.

Worried about the persistent building collapse in the country, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has resolved to deploy the use of block testing machines to check production of substandard blocks in the country.

The Director-General of SON, Osita Aboloma, explained that block moulders play a very critical role in economic development, saying that the agency is strengthening its collaboration with block moulders in the country by rolling out these machines in large numbers to give block moulders the opportunity to test their blocks while also complying to standards.

The SON boss during a courtesy visit by block moulders to the agency’s operational office in Lagos, said: “This meeting is to keep up the collaboration we have been having with block moulders. We believe their job is very important and we cannot tolerate the incidence of substandard blocks that will lead to building collapse in the country. This menace is a threat to any society, a drain to the economy and danger to the lives of people and properties.

“We have a programme to train the block moulders in the six geographical zones, we have done three, we have three more to complete and in addition to that, we have just commissioned a made-in-Nigeria block testing machine. We are going to collaborate with them to roll out these machines in large numbers to assist them in testing the blocks and complying with standards.

“I have heard about the robust collaboration you have been having with SON, which I commend. In our efforts to diversify the economy from a single product, I came across your organization’s activities and this has given me the strong will to restate my support to the association. The task of building the economy is a collective responsibility.

“The menace of building collapse is very worrying. It is not rocket science to know that the actual people we will work with to address this menace is the block moulders at the grassroots. We are in the process of deploying about 55 locally made block testing machines. This is part of our efforts to increase the patronage of made-in-Nigeria goods as against the imported ones. This will go a long to help your association get the right and quality blocks.”

He however called on block moulders to insist on producing blocks that meet the minimum requirement of the Nigeria Industrial Standard (NIS) regardless of the current state of the economy, stressing that the value of human life cannot be quantified.

“There is no doubt that the economy is in recession, but at the same time, we must not compromise standards and anybody that falls short of the standards, will have to face the wrath of the law. You need to put more effort in sensitizing your members and collaborate with our field officers to certify the blocks you produce.

“This is going to be a continuous task. We will keep training and retraining people and also sensitize people about complying to standards, because the block moulders play a vital role in national development.

“We are here to support you and if there is another way you need our support, please do not hesitate to say. As you come to register with us, we will create a database so that we can have all the accredited block makers who comply to standards under one umbrella,” he added.

Earlier, the National President, National Association of Block Moulders of Nigeria, Rasheed Adebowale, (NABMON) said, “We are here to meet with you to bolster our collaboration with the agency to assist us in producing quality and standard blocks in the country. We believe this synergy is critical to address building collapse in the country.”

“I am so happy with this move by SON to deploy block testing machines, if we have this support from SON, it will go a long way to address the issue of quality. Although, we have a mechanism to check against substandard,” he added.

According to him, the association plays a major role in economic development in terms of employment, employing about 10 million people in the country with a membership base of over 45,000 producing blocks.

The Chairman, National Planning Committee, Block Makers of Nigeria, (NABMON), Segun Banjoko, tasked SON to establish a database of all block makers in the country to check production of sub-standard blocks.

Man Insists He is the Biological Son of Former President Bill Clinton

Rumors that Bill Clinton once fathered a child with a prostitute have reemerged, as the now 30-year-old man is trying to have the former president recognize him as his son. The man, Danney Williams started a Facebook page in December, under the new name Danney Williams-Clinton, with the intention of getting the Clintons’ attention.

The claim was initially made in the late 1990s by Williams’ mother and in 1999, a DNA test reportedly conducted by Star magazine said that Danney couldn’t be Clinton’s son but the result of the test wasn’t really clear.

Danney’s story first garnered international attention in 1992, as then-Arkansas Gov Clinton
was getting ready to run for the presidency.

The Globe interviewed Danney’s mother, a former prostitute named Bobbie Ann Williams, who gave them the exclusive story of how she allegedly met and began an affair with Clinton in 1984.

She said when she was 24 years old in 1984, Bill Clinton went out for a run one day in Little Rock, Arkansas when he jogged by her housing project and introduced himself to her. She was 24 years old at the time.

A few days later, Clinton allegedly jogged by the housing project again and paid Bobbie $200 for sex with him behind some bushes.

After that, Bobbie says that she and Clinton became a regular customer, sometimes alone, sometimes with other female partners.  he said she eventually became pregnant and thought the baby was Clinton’s child after she had the baby on December 7th 1985 and saw that the baby was mixed. She added that Clinton was her only white customer at the time she got pregnant.

She said when she told Clinton who was a Governor at the time that she had had his child, he allegedly laughed in her face.

Begging Is Lucrative, Woman Who Withdrew Her Son From School Tells Task Force

A mother of six, arrested by operatives of Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit Task Force for using her 11-year-old son to beg, while pretending to be victims of a fire incident, did not show any sign of remorse, saying begging was a lucrative business.

The suspect, identified as Chinagoro Uwenke, 40, was arrested yesterday in Oshodi area of Lagos. Uwenke was always seen in the company of her son, whose leg was usually in bandage, discovered to be stained with liquid, which several people believed was pus from untreated burns.

Luck, however, ran against them after operatives of the task force demanded to know the magnitude of the purported injury on the lad. When the bandages were removed, it was discovered to the astonishment of all that the boy had no injury at all. Both mother and son were then whisked away.

Preliminary investigation showed that the suspect had been engaged in the alms begging business for five years. She revealed, during interrogation, that she made between N3,500 and N5000 daily.

Trump Campaign Defends Son’s Skittles Tweet

Donald Trump’s campaign on Tuesday stood by a controversial tweet issued by the candidate’s son, Donald Trump Jr., in which he likened Syrian refugees to a bowl of Skittles.

On Monday, Trump Jr. tweeted a graphic that likened Syrian refugees to Skittles, which swiftly triggered a wave of criticism.
“This image says it all. Let’s end the politically correct agenda that doesn’t put America first. #trump2016,” he tweeted, with a graphic that said: “If I had a bowl of skittles and I told you just three would kill you. Would you take a handful? That’s our Syrian refugee problem.”
Despite widespread condemnation, the campaign stood by the tweet and in a statement called Trump Jr. “a tremendous asset to the campaign.”
“America has become less safe under Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and Clinton’s planned 550% increase in Syrian refugees is a dangerous proposal that will put American lives at risk,” said senior communication adviser Jason Miller. “Speaking the truth might upset those who would rather be politically correct than safe, but the American people want a change, and only Donald Trump will do what’s needed to protect us.”
Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s campaign manager, also defended the comparison to CNN’s Erin Burnett.
“What we do know is that many Americans are concerned with the lack of vetting that’s going on. We see what’s happening all across Europe … that has been a disaster,” she said Tuesday on “Erin Burnett OutFront.”
But Mars Candy, which produces Skittles, said in a statement, “Skittles are candy. Refugees are people. We don’t feel it’s an appropriate analogy. We respectfully refrain from further commentary as anything we say could be misinterpreted as marketing.”

Boko Haram Behead Village Chief, Son

Members of the Boko Haram, in the early hours of Monday, crept upon sleeping villagers of Talari where they slit the throats of the village head and his son, reporters learnt.

The attackers also shot dead two other villagers as they were trying to escape.

An official of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Borno state, Abbas Gava, confirmed the incident to journalists on phone.

“The gunmen invaded the village in the early hours of Monday and they stormed the home of the village head, Ba’ Lawan, where they slaughtered him and his son”, he said.

“After killing the village head and his son, they burnt his home down and as the villagers began to run for their lives, the gunmen opened fire on them killing two persons, while many of them escaped with injuries”.

Mr. Gava said Talari, an agrarian community in Damboa Local government, is located between Kilakia Village and Chibok.

Boko Haram insurgents have recently increased hostilities against villagers in remote communities especially around Damboa and Chibok local government areas of Borno State, which share boundaries with Sambisa forest.

90% of imported products not verified – SON

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria has disclosed that it had no opportunity to verify 90 per cent of the products imported into the country between September and December 2015.

The Acting Director-General, SON, Dr. Paul Angya, disclosed this during a two- day capacity building workshop organised by the SON for media executives in Lagos recently.

Angya said September to December 2015 was a-three-month window that was provided for importers to be able to register on the Nigeria Customs electronic platform, Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System.

He said, “The NICIS platform allowed all stakeholders in the maritime sector to view data on shipment. But because the World Trade Organisation required that we should allow time for importers to register on the NICIS platform, we left a window of three months between September and December and issued them Electronic Provisional Clearance Certificate as an alternative.

“EPCC permitted importers to bring in their goods without the mandatory SON Conformity Assessment Programme certificates.

“But when this window of opportunity was created, criminal-minded importers took advantage of the situation and brought in substandard products which they were able to take out of the Nigerian seaports without the SON’s verification. So, between the periods of September and December 2015, 90 per cent of the goods imported into this country had no SON verification.”

Angya disclosed that after observing how importers had taken advantage of the EPCC platform to bring harmful products into the country, the agency had gone ahead to close it and as a result, the management and staff of SON are now facing threats and blackmail from importers.

“When we tried to communicate this fact, they resorted to blackmail, threatening that if we close down the EPCC platform, they will react. So we shut down the platform in July and directed that whatever they were bringing into Nigeria should go through the SONCAP regime.

“So they have now gone to the Internet to vilify SON. My staff and I have also been threatened by some of them, violently.”

Angya added that the major challenge the agency faced was being able to intercept containers right from the arrival point noting that since 90 per cent of substandard products come into Nigeria through the seaports, the absence of the SON’s agents at the ports had made the job more difficult.

He said since they were not allowed at the ports, they resolved to chase containers on the highway any time they received information that the container carried harmful goods.

“My officers who are all graduates and engineers chase trailers on the highway like touts, risking their lives to jump on trailers to try and catch them,” he stated.

Guy Ritchie & Madonna Finally Settle Bitter Custody Battle Over Son Rocco

Guy Ritchie and Madonna have settled their bitter custody battle over where their son Rocco should live. The custody disagreement began in December 2015 during a falling out between Rocco and his musician mother when he abandoned her Rebel Hearts tour, heading to London to live with his father and his wife Jacqui and refused to return to America to start the school term in January.

This triggered a legal battle between his parents, especially when the teenager ignored a court order to fly back from Ritchie’s London home to live with Madonna in New York. They have fought constantly over child-rearing issues as Madonna was the disciplinarian and felt Guy was way too permissive.

The 47-year-old director has now reached a settlement with the pop star, 58, hours before they were due in court in New York on Wednesday. Although the terms of their agreement remain confidential, it was revealed that Rocco will be schooled in London, with regular visits from his mother, whom he reconciled with some months ago.
Speaking outside the court Guy’s lawyer, Peter Bronstein, said that the 16-year-old-year-old would continue to live with his father in London. Everyone’s agreed to that and there’s no further need for any kind of a court case.’
A Court spokesman confirmed Madonna and Guy reached a settlement. Madonna’s attorney however declined to comment on the matter.

Fake Products Contribute to Economic Recession – SON

The Director-General, Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Dr. Paul Angya, has disclosed that the unbridled influx of substandard products into Nigeria contributed to the current economic recession in the country.

While addressing journalists and other stakeholders during a-two day Capacity Development Retreat for media executives in Lagos, Dr Angya said the country was facing the most supreme challenge of economic downturn, facilitated by continual spread of substandard goods across the Nigerian market.

He said: “These substandard products are like weeds growing up among a farmer’s crop. It has been a major challenge for us at SON even though we have a lot of initiatives to get to the heart of these imported products. 90% per cent of them come in mainly through the seaports of this country. We are not allowed to operate at that port and by the conspiracy of a segment of our society; who are benefiting from the importation and circulation of these substandard products. They even mount a campaign against SON. So any attempt to communicate with the appropriate quarters on the need for SON to be repositioned to deliver on its mandate is resisted vehemently by the community that is controlling especially importation of sub-standard products.

“The resistance sometimes is violent. I personally and a lot of my staff have been subjected to intimidations, blackmail and outright open threat. This community of people we are talking about form less than 1% of the population, these people who have destroyed the economy control the importation of substandard products. They determine whether our economy can grow or not.”

The challenge, he said, does not stop at illegal ease of entry in that it contributes to the repression of mainstream sectors of the economy including manufacturing, agricultural among others.

Since the substandard products appear cheap to obtain, local producers with quality injected goods are relegated in competition with such goods, thereby leading to the closure of firms unable to cope with the overwhelming pressure of fake products.

“If they were able to do to our thriving manufacturing sector, enterprising climate what they have done to cripple it, they can still do the same for any initiative and investment that we can attract in Nigeria,” DG said noting that Nigeria’s current situation as a less producing economy is more endangered. But to stem it, revamp the economy and establish an atmosphere to safeguard investments of genuine manufacturers, the government needs to approve SON’s operation at the port,’’ he said.

It was however revealed that the thorns in the flesh of SON were numerous as the war against circulation of substandard goods cannot be treated in isolation of other accompanying bottlenecks. In as much the restriction of operating at seaports remains, the resolve to deploy means of checking the movement of the goods from the seaport.

According to the DG, rather than verify the authenticity of these products right at the seaports, the organization is compelled to hunt the innumerable spread of illegal operatives with a limited staff base of 1,500.

He said: “The whole of SON has a population of 1,500 country wide and we have offices in the 36 states of the federation. We are supposed to be manning all the border post which are about 400; we are supposed to operate laboratories in all the critical zones of the country; we have inspector who are going through the factory as a routine. On a daily basis we inspect production, audit management processes, and we have the administrators. If we only post like 4 or 5 people to each of the border post which are about 400; when you multiply four by 400, we don’t have anybody to work with.”

Japanese Father Stabs Son To Death Over Studies

Japanese father stabbed his 12-year-old son to death after complaining the boy was failing to study for a school entrance exam, media said Tuesday.

Kengo Satake, the boy’s 48-year-old father, told police that he “argued with his son for not studying” before a test to enter a private junior high school, public broadcaster NHK reported.

Competition for entry to the best schools in Japan is intense. Admission to a prestigious one is seen as having a decisive impact on a child’s future prospects.

The son, named Ryota, was taken to hospital Sunday after the stabbing but died from loss of blood, Aichi prefectural police in the central city of Nagoya told AFP.

“The father stabbed his son in the chest with a kitchen knife,” a police spokesman said, declining to provide details of the motive.

The father was arrested after police got a call from hospital staff, he said.

Satake reportedly told police he had stabbed his son “by mistake.”

The boy was aiming to enter one of the leading private schools in Aichi prefecture and his father had regularly scolded him over his studies, NHK said, citing people with knowledge of the family.

The boy’s mother was at work when the incident occurred, the Asahi Shimbun daily reported.

American Mom, Son In Love Charged With Incest Remain Defiant

An American  mother and son whose forbidden love affair could land them each a lengthy jail sentence have declared they are ‘madly in love’ and nothing will tear them apart.
Monica Mares, 36, and her son Caleb Peterson, 19, face up to 18 months in prison if found guilty of incest at a trial later this year in New Mexico, United States. But police soon found out about the clandestine affair during a call over a row between the family and some neighbors.
The couple was charged with incest, a fourth-degree felony in New Mexico. They were arraigned and appeared jointly in court in April but were held in custody for breaching their no-contact order. They were released on $5,000 bond and now face a trial by jury in September.
But the mother and son couple have vowed to fight for their right to have a sexual relationship and are appealing to the public to donate to their legal fund, London Daily Mail Online reported.
Currently Mares is not allowed to see any of her children or have any contact at all with Peterson. Yet she maintains that is has all been worth it. “It is every bit worth it,’ she said. ‘If they lock me up for love then they lock me up. There is no way anybody could pull us apart, and I really do love him.
“It hurts he is far away. It hurts really bad. I wish I could see him, talk to him, but I can’t risk it.’
The Online report quoted the couple as saying they are willing to risk everything to be together and have decided to go public with their affair in a bid to raise awareness of Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA) relationships.
GSA is defined as sexual attraction between close relatives, such as siblings or half-siblings, a parent and offspring, or first and second cousins, who first meet as adults. Mares said: “He is the love of my life and I don’t want to lose him. My kids love him, my whole family does. Nothing can come between us not courts, or jail, nothing.
“I have to be with him. When I get out of prison I will move out of Clovis to a state that allows us to be together.’
Incest is a crime in all 50 states of U.S., but the specifics of the laws and punishment vary greatly from state to state. Mother-of-nine Mares said she would even give up the right to see her other children if she was asked to choose between them and her lover.
The couple who currently live separately in Clovis, New Mexico and are banned from having any contact with each other by the courts, first embarked on their love affair towards the end of last year.
Mares was just 16 when she gave birth to Peterson whose pre-adoption name was Carlos and he was adopted as a baby. The 36-year-old, who didn’t raise Peterson, saw him for the first time in 18 years last Christmas when she picked him up at his adoptive father’s house in Texas and brought him to her home after the pair got in touch over Facebook.
The couple soon developed romantic feelings for each other and their relationship became sexual a few weeks later. “The first time I met my son in person I was so happy and excited I gave him a big hug,’ Mares said.’I went to go pick him up at his dad’s house in Texas.
“He gave me a call and asked me to pick him up, I got butterflies in my stomach. I met him outside and I knew it was him when he came towards me. He was crying and he gave me a hug. It was almost love at first sight but first it was mother love. He gave me a mother hug.
“He came home in the truck and came to live with me and we were both happy as mother and son.” Mares said that at first nothing happened but she then started getting these ‘crazy’ feelings.
She said it felt different because she didn’t raise him as her child yet after all these years he came back to her.
“It felt like I met somebody new in my life and I fell in love with him,” she explained.

Gas Vandalism Crippling Economy– SON

The blowing up of gas pipelines by the Niger Delta terrorists is negatively affecting the nation’s economy, especially the manufacturing sector.

This was the position of the Standard Organisation of  Nigeria (SON),  and a cross section of managers in Lafarge Holcim during an inspection tour of Lafarge Ewekoro Plant by SON.

The acting director-general of SON, Paul Angya, confirmed that the challenges faced by investors are the major factors responsible for high cost of production and expensive costs of Nigerian products, making them non-competitive.

He said, “Clearly, that is a major national challenge, the issue of gas supply and activities of the militants in the Niger Delta with the supply of gas nation-wide. It has of course, hampered the capacity of industries to produce.

“Also, with the downturn of economy, reduction in the inflow of forex because of oil prices, Nigeria has also faced challenge of amount of foreign exchange available to industries. These are problems government is tackling frontally, government is over driven to reverse these negative trends.

“Last week, we were in Lagos with captains of industries and entire industry stakeholders, looking at the challenges, and ways of ameliorating situation, and the situation is not exemption. Government is engaging the militants, trying to find solutions and I think within the shortest possible time, the challenges will be a a thing of the past.”

Two Lafarge personnel, Segun Shoyoye and Hannes Diedericks, managers of Ewekoro Cement Plants I and II respectively, lamented loss of working hours and underutilization of resources being experienced in manufacturing industries as a result of non-availability of gas.

Shoyoye, who jointly spoke with Hannes Diedericks, Ewekoro Cement Plant II on the challenges facing the multinational cement company bordering on lack of gas supply and foreign exchange, appealed to government to help investors fight all challenges that affect manufacturing industries in order to remain in business.

Couple Allegedly Abandoned Their Toddler To Play Pokémon Go

According to a statement released by the Pinal Country Sheriff’s Office, an Arizona couple was arrested on July 28 after abandoning their 2-year-old son to go play Pokémon Go.

The app, which is a virtual-reality type game for hunting Pokémon, requires users to travel around the area in order to play. Brent and Brianne Daley, who claimed they went out to get gas, were absent for up to 90 minutes, stopping at parks and shopping malls while their son was sleeping. However, the police were called when neighbors spotted the toddler outside the house, screaming, crying, and wearing nothing but a T-shirt and dirty diaper.

Sheriff Paul Babeu is all too familiar with the consequences of civilians getting too wrapped up in the game, but this was the worst offense yet.

“Our agency and many other law enforcement agencies have been warning people about personal safety while playing this interactive Smartphone game, but we never would have imagined that parents would abandoned a child to play Pokémon Go,” he said in a statement. “This goes beyond comprehension.”

Brent and Brianne Daley were arrested for child neglect and endangerment. The state Department of Child Services took custody of their son.

Man Abandons Son For Bag Of Rice In Kano

A middle-aged man, identified as Mallam Yusuf Bala, on Sunday at Singer Market, Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State forfeited his five-year-old son for a bag of rice.

According to an eyewitness account, Bala approached the rice dealer, Alhaji Suleiman Bagudu, to buy a bag of rice, which he carried home but left his son, with a promise to rush home to bring the money for the foodstuff.

This, he said, was because the money on him was not enough to pay for the bag of rice, selling for N14,000 per 50kg bag.

However, six hours after, the said man failed to show up as promised to settle the rice dealer and collect his son.

According to the source, the rice dealer became suspicious, following the Bala’s prolonged absence, a situation that prompted the trader to interrogate the toddler he left behind.

On interrogation, the five-year-old boy innocently led the rice dealer to their home, located at the abattoir area of Koki in Dala Local Government Area of the state.

Despite expressing embarrassment when the rice dealer arrived his home, alongside his child, Bala openly confessed that he was financially handicapped, hence his unbecoming conduct by abandoning his son as a last resort.

Mother Reunites With Son Abducted 21 Years Ago

A California mother, Maria Mancia, whose son was abducted in 1995 reunited with him on Thursday after 21 years.
The last time Mancia saw her son was when he was just 18 months old and only had a single photo of him.
Her son, Steve Hernandez, who is now 22 years old, was found living in Puebla, Mexico, by investigators in the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Child Abduction Unit and on Thursday morning was brought to the U.S. to meet his mother for an emotional reunion.

“Now this anguish I’ve carried is gone now that I have my son back,” Mancia said. “I spent 21 years looking for him not knowing anything.”

The SBC District Attorney’s Child Abduction Unit had been looking for Hernandez through the years, searching for him in several states until investigators received a strong tip in February that he was in Mexico.

According to authorities, his father, Valentin Hernandez, is said to be missing and believed to be dead.
Investigator Karen Cragg, who led the search, said they had to approach Steve Hernandez delicately.

“We used a ruse to contact him. We told him we were investigating his father and we needed his DNA to help locate his father,” Cragg told The Associated Press on Thursday. “We didn’t want to scare him off. We weren’t sure what the circumstances were down there. We had to tread very carefully.”

According to police reports, Mancia and Valentin Hernandez had been living with their son Steve Hernandez in Rancho Cucamonga, California, in 1995 but were having relationship problems. Mancia said she came home from work one day to find both the elder Hernandez and their son missing and all of their photos of the boy, including an ultrasound gone as well.

She immediately reported the boy missing and the investigation had been active ever since, first with the Sheriff’s Department, then with DA’s investigators.

Once investigators located Steve in Mexico, DNA sample was obtained in February to acertain that he was truly Mancia’s son.
Once they got a positive match, Cragg drove straight to Mancia’s house to give her the good news.

“She began to cry. She said she couldn’t believe he was still alive.”

Because Steve Hernandez is a U.S. citizen, there were no immigration troubles returning him to the U.S., Cragg said. He had no personal documents at all, but his mother had his birth certificate and more.
The boy’s father had told him that his mother abandoned the two of them.

Steve Hernandez  said:

“I lived all these years without my mother, then to find out she’s alive in another country, it’s emotional.”

He said he plans to stay in the U.S. and hopes to attend law school, which he already started in Mexico. He hugged his crying mother and wiped tears from her eyes.

Father Beats His 17yr Old Son Silly In Boxing Match As Punishment For Skipping School

A video posted to Facebook shows the father challenging his teenage son to a fight after learning that the lad walked out of lessons without telling him. He then proceeds to pummel the precocious young man leaving him a bloody, sobbing mess. The video has gone viral garnering nearly 1.5million views.

The clip starts with the unnamed father sitting in front of the camera explaining why he is about to go toe to toe in a boxing match with his son.

He tells viewers: ‘Hi Facebook world. So my son, 17 years old, decided he wants to go to school and cut up [mess around] like he don’t want to have to come home and see me.
‘So one day he walked out of the teacher’s class and, granted, I know teacher’s can be f****d up so I let him know he can walk out of class, but call me so I’m on your side.
‘All day went by, he didn’t call. So now, it’s discipline time because he didn’t do what I told him to do.’

He goes on to explain that he has chosen the specific form of punishment so it both disciplines the teenager and teaches him how to defend himself.
The father, who is wearing a white vest top, sports shorts and black gloves, then puts the camera down and shouts: ‘Put them gloves on, let’s go.’
He can then be seen helping his son put a pair of boxing gloves on.

The son, who has also not been identified, can be seen covering his face as he nervously stands in the middle of the room.
His father checks the camera to make sure the show is rolling before walking up to his son and starting to punch him.
The boy does his feeble best to cover his face with his gloved hands as his father repeatedly hits him while berating him about missing school and discussing the ways to punch someone. The teenager does not manage to land even a single punch in return.

Throughout the fight, the father continues to shout at him as he claims: ‘You don’t worry about this when you’re cutting up, do you?’ He also mocks his son, saying: ‘That one hurt didn’t it.’
The teenager can be heard gasping as his father states: ‘You don’t worry about blood. They don’t see this at school do they.’
The fight ends when the man lets his son go and wash his face under a tap.
The father then returns to the camera and states: ‘That’s how you discipline a teenager. Give them a chance to shoot back.
‘Let him show he he feels. He feel like he want to cut up at school – he knows the consequences. He has to deal with me when he gets home. That’s what it is – teenage discipline 101. And that wasn’t even the first round.’
The final shots show the teenager clutching a tissue to his nose with his white T-shirt covered in blood.
His father tells him to say ‘hi’ to his friends and ‘sorry’ to his teacher, which he does, before the camera is finally turned off.

The father has come in for both praise and criticism online.
Effective method of discipline or just too much?

How Ex-PDP Chairman, Son, Squandered N300 Million Arms Money- EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has told a Federal High Court in Abuja that the office of the National Security Adviser, paid N300 million to a former national chairman of PDP, Bello Haliru, to fund election campaign.

Roukayya Ibrahim, a forensic specialist with the commission, made the statement while testifying before Justice John Tsoho on Tuesday.

Ms. Ibrahim said the outcome of a forensic analysis on financial transactions in the Sterling Bank account used indicated that the money was not payment for contract executed.

She said the office of the National Security Adviser headed by retired Col. Sambo Dasuki authorised the payment.

“The bank account that was used belonged to Abbah Bello, son of the third defendant (Haliru Bello),’’ Ibrahim said.

She added: “Between October and November 2014, a special Task Force was created to investigate Defence and arms contract.

“Allegation of financial misappropriation in the office of the NSA has been reported at the commission.

“After the Task Force was constituted, we studied intelligence reports and commenced investigation.

“During the course of the investigation, we invited relevant government agencies and banks to discuss with them.

“Specifically, we spoke with senior staff from the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and Central Bank of Nigeria.

“One of the discoveries was a letter from the Ministry of Finance to the CBN requesting the release of N100 billion on March 2, 2015.

“The money was actually meant for disbursement to agencies of government with the office of the NSA getting N30 billion out of the fund, supposedly to be used for security issues.

“On March 3, 2015, the Accountant-General of the Federation sent a memo to the Ministry of Finance in respect of the N30 billion.

“And on March 5, the Accountant-General of the Federation sent another memo to the CBN requesting urgent release of the N30 billion which was eventually paid into the NSA office account on March 11.

“On March 17, the N300 million was transferred from the N30 billion into the Sterling Bank account operated by BAM Project and Properties Ltd owned by Abba Bello.

“When Abba was arrested and interrogated, he denied knowledge of the transaction that ran through his bank account.

“Then his father, Haliru Bello, was away in abroad, but the story changed when we spoke with him on telephone.

“During the course of the investigation, we got to know that Bashir Yuguda, former minister of State for Finance, was used to actualise the transaction.’’

“During forensic analysis, we discovered that on March 18, disbursement of about N137 million was made to Kumugumu Ltd, on the same day, another N178 million was sent to North pole Ltd from the N300 million’’.

“On March 28, Abba transferred the sum of N163 million to Hijra Textiles Ltd on the instruction of his father, Haliru Bello.

“Abba who is the sole owner of BAM Project and Properties Ltd whose bank account is being used, withdrew the sum of N20 million in two tranches of N10 million each.

“Then on May 28, Abba made another transfer of N50 million into another of his personal savings account.’’

Ms. Ibrahim said Abba had specifically confessed to the commission that BAM Project and Properties Ltd did not execute any contract for the office of the National Security Adviser.

The duo are standing trial for alleged unlawful collection of part of the funds meant for arms purchase for the military.

The judge adjourned the matter till Feb 23.

Texas Teenager Kills Mom, 2 Neighbors And Commits Suicide

A 19-year-old killed his mother and two neighbors before turning his gun on himself in a shooting that brought SWAT and various emergency vehicles to a rural area in Texas, authorities said Sunday.

Uvalde County Sheriff Charlie Mendeke said Dylan Westerburg gunned down his mother Friday afternoon in their home near Uvalde, about 85 miles west of San Antonio. He then went next door and killed two brothers, Arthur and Phinny Norton, Mendeke said.
Mendeke said investigators haven’t determined a clear motive for the shootings. Westerburg lived with his mother in a small cabin about 20 yards from the Nortons’ mobile home on the brothers’ property.
Phinny Norton, 60, had some “sort of romantic relationship” with Westerburg’s mother, 42-year-old Jennifer Diane Jacques, Mendeke said. Deputies had been called out to the property in the past because of domestic disputes but “nothing violent,” Mendeke said.
Authorities arrived at the scene after a teenage witness called them. The teenage boy was with Arthur Norton, 58, when they saw shotgun shells and broken glass as they approached the Nortons’ mobile home, Mendeke said.

“Mr. Norton enters the house,” Mendeke said. “The kid who was with him hears and sees a gun blast and sees Mr. Norton fall to the floor” before running to call authorities.

When officers arrived they heard another gunshot. Not knowing whether there were multiple gunmen or whether the gunman was dead, authorities surrounded the homes and began evacuating people nearby.
It was during that search that they found Jacques’ body. The family’s dog had also been killed.
Mendeke said he called in about 50 to 60 officers from different agencies as well as a Texas Department of Public Safety SWAT team out of caution. Authorities closed the road leading to the property and they stayed there overnight.

“I didn’t know how many shooters I had in the Norton residence when I found the mother,” he said. “You’re looking at farm- and ranchland. You could get into a dangerous situation.”

The SWAT team finally entered the Nortons’ mobile home on Saturday afternoon and found the Norton brothers and Westerburg dead inside. Mendeke said Westerburg had shot himself in the head.

Nigerian-Born Son Of A New Jersey Minister Kicked Out Of School For Alleged Rape Reinstated

They both played football for Temple University and got accused of raping women they met on campus, but that’s where the similarities between Praise Martin-Oguike and Bill Cosby end.
Martin-Oguike, a Nigerian-born son of a New Jersey minister, was kicked off the team and out of school in 2012 after a woman accused him of assaulting her in a dorm room.
Evidence  that the encounter was anything but consensual was so lacking that a prosecutor later dropped charges, but Martin-Oguike found that counted for little at the Philadelphia school.

“I was just trying to prove my innocence,” Martin-Oguike, who missed the 2012 and 2013 seasons as be fought to clear his name, told FoxNews.com. “There were times where people were negative, trying to give me different scenarios and how I could be sent to jail for a long time. And being black, the odds were against me.”

Martin-Oguike, a 6-foot, 2-inch, 255-pound defensive lineman, rejoined his Owls teammates for the 2014 season, and just completed a 10-3 season that culminated in a bowl game. Some believe Martin-Oguike even has a shot at the NFL, a dream that if realized, would be testament to his tenacity.

Martin-Oguike’s nightmare began in May of 2012 when he was arrested after a senior at Temple accused him of raping her inside his dorm room. Martin-Oguike, who grew up in Woodbridge, N.J., and had never been in trouble with the law, claimed the sex was consensual.

But the school moved quickly, revoking his scholarship and expelling him. He missed the 2012 season, moved back home and wondered if the clock had run out on his future. The next season, while his former teammates were laboring toward a brutal 2-10 record, Martin-Oguike was preparing to stand trial and facing prison time.

As jury selection was about to begin in October 2013, the Philadelphia district attorney’s office suddenly announced it was dropping charges due to a lack of evidence.

“Upon further investigation, it was determined there wasn’t enough evidence to proceed to trial,” Tasha Jamerson, a spokeswoman for the district attorney, said at the time.

But the jury was still out on Martin-Oguike’s future at Temple. He was forced to plead his case for reinstatement before a board comprised of students and faculty, and his accuser, who was well known on campus, remained adamant that she had been raped.

“The student conduct process is an internal university administrative process that is independent of the criminal process,” a spokesman for Temple University said in a written statement. “The resolution of a criminal matter does not resolve a student conduct matter.”

Martin-Oguike prevailed, and insists he harbors no ill-will toward the school.

“They did not know me as a person and they had a process. They were just doing what they had to,” he said.

As he approaches his final season next year, Martin-Oguike said he has heard of potential interest from various NFL teams for the 2017 draft.

“I’d like to go to whoever pays the most,” he joked when asked where he would like to play before giving his real choice.

“I would like to play for the [New York] Jets,” he said. “They are close to home and have a lot of connections to Temple.”

Political Associates, Friends Shun Dokpesi’s Son’s Wedding

As son of Dr Raymond Dokpesi got married in Abuja on Saturday, political allies of the embattled Chairman of the Africa Independent Television (AIT) were found wanting in attendance. The wedding of Williams Dokpesi to his heartthrob, Diane at Emerald Park and Recreation, Area 3, Abuja, which would have would have been a jamboree of some sort were the AIT Chairman not to have found himself in troubled waters, turned out to be scanty and was attended by few friends and family members.

Neither the church service nor the wedding reception was attended by any of his political friends or popular faces in the Nigerian polity. Photos from the event showed that the wedding fell short of expectations, as the venues were deserted. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a popular figure in the national polity, said the troubled Daar Communications owner got shunned because of his ongoing battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to him, the wedding would have become the talk of town but for the recent scandal which none of his politician friends want to get associated with. “It’s a pity that all his politician friends have left him at the most trying times. Nobody wants to associate with him because of his EFCC trouble. We all know that anyone who attends or appears in the photos, might be picked up on by EFCC as an accomplice in the ongoing probe. It’s better to be safe,” he said.

62 Year Old Grandmother Hides $12K Worth Of Drugs In Her Vagina To Smuggle Into Son’s Prison

A 62-year-old grandmother is facing serious charges after she allegedly smuggled drugs in her vagina into a Canadian prison where her son was doing time.

Linda Ethal Sheridan came to the Edmonton Institution with her 10-year-old granddaughter on July 22, 2013 to visit her son, who is serving time for home invasion. During a routine search, a drug-sniffing dog detected drugs on her.

She allegedly had three bags of drugs including heroin, meth, and marijuana hidden in her genitals and breasts. She seemed embarrassed that this happened,” said correctional officer Brandy Swenson. “She really wanted to remove the stuff from her body cavity.”

Officials estimated the value of the drugs to be more than $12,000. Her son told a court he did not ask her for the drugs.

The Huffington Post reports Sheridan said she only did it because she felt threatened by an anonymous caller who said he would kill her son if she didn’t bring the drugs.

“I wish I hadn’t been talked into this,” Sherida reportedly told police at the time she was arrested. “It was a stupid move and I should’ve known better.”

Zakzaky’s Son, Wife, Other Shiite Leaders Killed

No fewer than 20 members of the Shi’ite sect were killed, yesterday, as the military cracked down on the sect for blocking the highways during their public procession in Zaria, Kaduna State. The sect, however, claimed that hundreds of its members were killed by soldiers who stormed three of its locations with heavy military weapons. It was gathered that the  troops engaged members of the sect throughout the night as heavy shootings and sounds of explosions were heard in Gyallesu and Sokoto Road, where Hussainiyya, the spiritual centre of the sect,  is located.

The Nigerian Army and members of the sect have accused each other of instigating attacks that led to the death of members of the movement on Saturday.

While the Army accused the Shiite followers of attempting to assassinate Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, the Islamic movement said soldiers simply decided to attack “defenceless people”.

The army on its part vowed to put an end to the threats, delays and disruption caused by the group.

Meanwhile, the where about of the leader of the sect,  Sayyid Ibraheem Zakzaky was unknown as the sect claimed that its members, who were killed, included  the leader of the Kano Centre, Sheikh Muhammad Turi, the son of sect leader, Sayyid Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife.

In its account of the violent confrontation between it and the military, the sect, in a statement by its spokesman,  Ibrahim Musa said: “Following alleged blockade of the route of the Chief of Army Staff by the members of the Movement, the Nigerian Army brutally descended on armless members of the Movement with heavy military weapons killing indiscriminately.

Mum Who Was Told She Couldn’t Have Any More Kids Gives Birth To A Baby Boy

A mum, 36 year old Emma Bromfield, who was told she could never have any more children was shocked after she gave birth to a baby boy – just two days after she found out she was pregnant.
Emma and her husband Jason, 38, had not planned on adding to their family after already defying the odds to have Millie, seven, Molly, six, and 15-month-old George.

But after missing her period last month, Emma did a pregnancy test on Tuesday and was stunned when she realised she was expecting.
She went to her GP on Thursday morning after passing blood and was sent for an early pregnancy scan at the Queen’s Hospital in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffs.

Her doctor told her there was a heartbeat and that she was around nine weeks pregnant but could be having a miscarriage.

But Emma had the shock of her life when a midwife at the hospital told her she was actually 35 weeks pregnant.
Incredibly, the mum-of-four was taken to the maternity ward to be examined at 3.30pm where they realised she had dilated 5cm and was already in labour.

Emma then delivered a healthy baby boy Frankie, who weighed 6lb 1oz, just 40 minutes later at 4.10pm.

Sunday, Emma, who lives with her husband-of-nine years Jason in Newhall, Derbyshire, said she didn’t gain any weight or have any pregnancy symptoms.
She added:

“The nurse who was doing the scan said: ‘I don’t know what to say, this scan shows you are 35 weeks gone’. “I was in total shock. “I am not new to the signs of pregnancy and I had not had any of the morning sickness I had had with the other three.

“With George I was waddling around and couldn’t even do up my coat. “With this one I hadn’t put on any weight and I was still in my everyday jeans. “Amazingly, I’ve actually lost weight now and I’ve had to buy loads of new clothes.

“It was the best pregnancy ever. “I had read about this in magazines and always thought: ‘how could you go that long without knowing?’ And then it happened to me.”

Emma, who works as a lunchtime supervisor at a school, said everything happened so quickly that the sex of their new baby was a complete surprise.

Emma’s Husband who is a security officer said:

“I was only 15 minutes away from the hospital and probably drove through three or four red lights. “I called work to tell them I wasn’t coming in because my wife was in labour. “They said: ‘we didn’t even know your wife was pregnant ‘ and I said: ‘neither did I’.

“I got to the hospital ten minutes after Emma gave birth. “She did everything in a day instead of nine months. “We really have defied the odds. “It’s unbelievable.

“We are still in shock, but it was a nice early Christmas present for us.”

The surprise birth was made all the sweeter because when she was younger Emma had problems with her ovaries and was told she couldn’t have children.

Dad Jason added: “When I met her, we had two girls and then Emma suffered two miscarriages both at five weeks.

“She was then told she probably couldn’t have a baby boy and amazingly we’ve now had two.”

Emma added: “Our other children have taken to him really well, although Molly thought we had bought Frankie from the hospital shop and asked if it had run out of girls.

Kogi Election: APC Group Endorses Abubakar Audu’s Son

The All Progressives Congress (APC) critical stakeholders and delegates from Kogi East Senatorial District have resolved that the late political icon and APC candidate in the November 22 governorship election that was pronounced to be inconclusive, Mr Abubakar Audu, be substituted with his son Mohammed Audu in the event that the party goes for fresh primary.

This was contained in a communique read by Daniel Isah, the Kogi East Zonal Chairman at the party secretariat in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare Kogi State governorship election inconclusive has continued to generate controversies within the party.

Supporters and members of the party have appeared divided on who should replace Abubakar Audu as the party’s governorship candidate.

Getting a candidate to fill the vacant seat was one of the major reasons the delegates from the eastern senatorial district held the closed door meeting which lasted for one hour.

While the closed door meeting was going on, some youths under the auspices of Kogi APC Concerned Youths took to the streets with placards, demanding that the son of the late Abubakar Audu should be the substitute governorship candidate.

They claimed the son has been working closely with his father and understands his plans.

Kogi Governorship Poll: Audu’s Supporters Push For Son As Replacement

There were strong indications on Wednesday that the campaign organisation of the late Kogi State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Abubakar Audu, was preparing a ground for the emergence of the deceased’s son, Mohammed, as a replacement for his father.

Audu died on Sunday, a few hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the November 21 governorship poll in the state inconclusive.

The deceased had polled 240,867 votes in the election while the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate and incumbent state Governor, Capt. Idris Wada (retd.), scored 199,514 votes, leaving a gap of 41,353 votes between the two leading candidates in the election.

INEC had declared the election inconclusive on the grounds that cancelled votes or registered voters in the 91 polling units, where the exercise did not take place were 49,953, a figure higher than Audu’s lead of 41,353 votes.

A leader of the APC in the state, who confided in The Punch, said the dominant view in the organisation was that Mohammed should join the race.

It was gathered that a few members of the group had also suggested that Audu’s running mate in last Saturday’s election, Mr. James Faleke, should contest the primary.

It was gathered that members of the group, which dominates the APC in the state, met on Tuesday night following the party’s declaration that another primary would be held to produce a replacement for the late governorship candidate.

The commission had on Tuesday written the APC, directing it to submit a replacement for the late Audu while the party said it would hold a fresh primary to produce a replacement for the deceased APC standard bearer.

The APC leader, who confided in The Punch, said the late Audu’s political structure was still intact despite his death.

He stated that nobody could win the state governorship primary of the APC without the backing of Audu’s supporters.

The source said, “Abubakar Audu’s supporters, including his campaign structure, are rooting for either Audu’s son, Mohammed, or James Faleke for them not to lose out entirely. They are narrowing it to either Faleke or Mohammed because the APC machinery believes that the election has been won. But the party elders and leaders, who worked for him, will be more comfortable with Mohammed.

The spokesperson for the APC in Kogi State, Abdulmalik Suleiman, said, “We are mourning. This is the time for sober reflection and we are praying for our late leader and icon. At the appropriate time, the public will know because APC has a way of solving its issues and problems.”

One of our correspondents, however, learnt that despite the state of mourning in the party in the state, no fewer than four aspirants have started jostling to emerge as a replacement for Audu in the supplementary election on December 5.

These aspirants, it was learnt, included Faleke, who was Audu’s running mate in last Saturday’s poll; Yahaya Bello; a former PDP governorship aspirant, Jubrin Echocho, and Salihu Atawodi.

Granddad Describes How He Drowned Grandson In Bath Tub

A man accused of murdering his own grandson today told how he drowned the youngster in a bath – but he continues to plead not guilty to murder.
Stewart Greene, 65, killed Alex Robinson, nine, while his mum was out shopping for a Christmas turkey.

Giving evidence in court he apologised to his daughter Joanne, ex-wife Andrea and Alex’s dad John.
Greene said: “I’m so sorry to Joanne and Andrea and to John Robinson.

“The truth is I killed Alex. I thought about it the night before. “I walked Alex into the bathroom and put him in the bath. I’d run the bath before I called him. Two taps running quicker.

“I think at the time he asked me if I was going to wash myself. “I picked him up and put him in the bath and drowned him. He was struggling. He struggled until I drowned him.”

He told the jury that after he realised Alex was dead he had a cigarette and sat down.
He admitted that he did nothing to help Joanne and Andrea when they made desperate attempts at CPR.
Greene was discharged from a psychiatric unit against his will two weeks before the killing on December 23 last year.
Lincoln Crown Court heard he later told a psychiatrist “I’m just an evil murdering b*****d who killed his grandson”.
During cross-examination Michael Evans QC asked Greene: “You knew you wanted to kill Alex. Is that right?”
Greene replied: “Yes… I knew I was killing him. Yes. I killed Alex.
Greene then added: “I don’t think I can say any more. I’ve admitted the offence. “I’ve done what I’ve done.”
The trial continues.

Why I Had A Son Out Of Wedlock – Eucharia Anunobi

Nollywood veteran actress turned evangelist,Eucharia Anunobi has opened up on being a single mother and how having a son out of wedlock was a mistake.Excerpts from her interview with the New Telegraph Newspaper

You once said that your intimidating profile tends to discourage men from asking your hand in marriage; what is happening to your love life?

I can’t remember ever saying such a thing. I don’t know about men being scared of me (chuckles). Well, I will take it that what you are saying is that I’m not in a relationship. Of course you know I would not want to discuss my private life. But I have to tell you what I am doing and what is not happening, I believe in things that are incubating; if it’s meant to come out, it will come out. A lot of people do not know of my commitment to my Christian life too.

How is your son doing? He must have really grown now.

Very well, we thank the God Almighty, the Lord has been faithful.

What is it like being a single parent?

It was not a deliberate choice that I have made, it came by chance, it came by mistake. God does not kill His children who have made mistakes. He would rather sustain them and tell them that He is the owner of all things. The Lord has been sustaining me as a single parent I don’t think about it, all I know is ‘God, you are the one that created me and the child that you gave to me’. So whatever that is needed of me, it was a wrong choice that I made.

Have you tried to reconcile with the father of your son?

When somebody says that I do not want to be a responsible father what do you do? You don’t take a horse to the river and force it to drink.

Is there any plan of settling down, your ideal man?
Of course, why not? Every woman says I want tall black, handsome man. We all need good things. All the good things every normal woman wants, I want it too. He must be somebody who has the spirit of God, someone who has Christ as his backbone.

What is the name of the church or the branch you pastor?

I am an associate pastor with the Fresh Oil Ministry International Church at Egbeda in Lagos. I am an ordained evangelist as well as an apostle; I am a convent speaker in and around the country. I had gone to minister in the United States of America, a lot of West African countries, and I have ministered in a lot of churches in and outside the country and some churches and organisations invite me to be their speaker at their various meetings.

Mother Of Paris Suicide Bomber Says “STRESS” May Have Caused Her Son To Blow Himself Up

The mother of a Paris suicide bomber says her son ‘did not mean to kill anyone’ – and claims he may have blown himself up because of stress.

Ibrahim Abdeslam, 31, launched a solo attack outside the cafe Comptoir Voltaire, close to the scene of the Bataclan concert hall massacre on Friday night.

His brother Mohamed Abdeslam, a former council worker, was arrested in Molenbeek in western Brussels, a day after the attacks in the French capital, in which at least 129 were killed and hundreds more were injured.

Police missed their chance to bring in the third brother, Salah, when he was questioned as he crossed the border to Belgium after the attacks. He is now the object of a massive international manhunt.

Today their mother defended Ibrahim, suggesting his suicide jacket may have done off by accident and said he could have carried out the attack because he was ‘stressed’.

Speaking outside the family home, the Abdeslam family claimed that they were ‘surprised’ that Ibrahim blew himself up near the Stade de France, even though he had spent time in Syria.

Their mother, speaking to a reporter through her nephew – the bombers’ cousin – on the doorstep of the family home in Molenbeek, told Het Laatste Nieuws that they were sure he had not planned to kill anyone

‘This was not his plan, that’s for sure,’ she said. ‘The fact that his suicide belt exploded without killing anyone says a lot.’

The family added: ‘We even saw him two days before the attacks. There were no signs that they has plans to do anything violent.’

The family admitted he had spent ‘a long time’ in Syria.

‘We were really surprised that Salah was involved. Ibrahim was different. We did see that he had been radicalised, at least in part. But not so much that we ever thought he would commit an atrocity like this.’

Another family member at the brothers’ home claimed that he would not have wanted to become a suicide bomber: ‘Maybe the explosives went off prematurely by accident. Maybe it was stress.’

Prosecutors have identified Ibrahim, who seriously injured a bystander when he detonated his suicide bomb, as the man who rented a Seat car used in the attacks.

The vehicle was used by the terrorists who murdered diners outside the Casa Nostra pizza restaurant and the La Belle Équipe cafe.

It was found abandoned 20 minutes away in Montreuil with a cache of weapons inside.

The Cafe Voltaire bomb was one of seven deadly attacks carried out by jihadists on a night of bloodshed in Paris.

PARIS MASSACRE: WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR ABOUT THE DEADLIEST TERROR ATTACK TO HIT EUROPE IN A DECADE

At least 129 people are dead, and another 352 injured, after three teams of jihadis struck the Stade de France football stadium, a handful of bars and cafes, and then finally the Bataclan concert hall.

FIRST TWO ATTACKS: STADE DE FRANCE

  • The attacks began at 8.17pm GMT at the Stade de France where the French football team was hosting Germany in an international friendly.
  • The game was being watched by 80,000 spectators, among them was President Francois Hollande who had to be evacuated from the stadium.
  • The first explosion, a suicide bombing, was at an entrance to the stadium. A suicide bomber approached the gate with a match ticket when he was frisked by a security guard who turned him away.
  • He backed away from the gate and detonated his vest at about 8.20pm GMT near Gate D of the stadium, killing one other person. A passport with the name Ahmed Almuhamed, 25, from Syria, was allegedly found nearby.
  • A second suicide bomber, Bilal Hadfi, 20, blew himself up near Gate H several minutes later. No one else was reported killed. Hadfi is said to have fought with ISIS in Syria.

THIRD ATTACK: LE PETIT CAMBODGE AND LE CARILLON BAR

  • At 8.25pm GMT a separate team of gunmen arrived in a Black Seat and attacked diners at popular Cambodian restaurant Le Petit Cambodge and Le Carillon bar in the trendy Canal Saint-Martin area of eastern Paris, killing 15.

FOURTH ATTACK: LA CASA NOSTRA PIZZERIA AND LA BELLE EQUIPE BAR

  • The same unit then drove about 500 yards to La Casa Nostra pizzeria and opened fire on diners on the terrace of the restaurant, killing at least five people.
  • From there, the militants drove around a mile south-east – apparently past the area of the Bataclan concert venue – to launch another attack, this time on La Belle Equipe bar in Rue de Charonne. At least 19 people died after the terrace was sprayed with bullets at 8.38pm GMT. The attackers then drove off.

FIFTH ATTACK: CAFÉ ‘COMPTOIR VOLTAIRE’

  • Five minutes later, Ibrahim Abdeslam, 31, set off a suicide vest outside the outside cafe ‘Comptoir Voltaire’ on the Boulevard Voltaire and close to the Bataclan theatre. He hired a black Seat car used in the attack.

SIXTH ATTACK: BATACLAN MUSIC HALL

  • At 8.49pm GMT, the third group (believed to be three men and a woman) armed with AK-47s stormed the Bataclan music hall and began shooting members of the crowd. Survivors claim three blew themselves up and a fourth person was shot dead by police before they could detonate their bomb.

SEVENTH ATTACK: NEAR STADE DE FRANCE

  • At around 8.50pm GMT a third blast took place near the Stade de France, this time by a McDonald’s restaurant on the fringes of the stadium. The boom caused terror among spectators who had already been attempting to flee the stadium following the first two explosions. The attacker who detonated his suicide vest was identified as a 20-year-old French man living in Belgium.

AFTERMATH:

  • On Saturday morning, ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks across Paris, saying ‘eight brothers wearing explosive belts and carrying assault rifles’ conducted a ‘blessed attack on… Crusader France’.
  • On Saturday afternoon, three people travelling in a grey VW Polo were arrested at the French/Belgian border when police traced the car after it was sighted outside the Bataclan theatre at the time of the attacks.
  • One of the Stade de France suspects was found carrying a Syrian passport under the name Ahmed Almuhamed who travelled to France as a migrant through Greece on October 3. Ferry tickets reveal he travelled with another man named as Mohammed Almuhamed.
  • However, the French minister of justice Christiane Taubira said on Sunday that the passport under the name Ahmed Almuhamed was a fake.
  • Omar Ismaël Mostefai, 29, from Courcouronnes, Paris was also named as a Bataclan suicide bomber. The petty criminal and father-of-one was known to police as a radical and had travelled to Algeria and Syria. He was identified by the fingerprint on a severed digit found after he detonated his suicide belt.
  • Mostefai is believed to have been radicalised by a Belgian hate preacher of Moroccan descent claimed to have regularly preached at his mosque in South West France. His father, a brother and other family members have been held and are being questioned.
  • The black Seat Leon used by the terrorists who murdered diners outside the Casa Nostra pizza restaurant and the La Belle Équipe cafe was found abandoned 20 minutes away in Montreuil with a cache of weapons inside.
  • Seven people were detained in Belgium linked to the atrocities – three at the border and four in Brussels. Five are from the Molenbeek area of Brussels known as a ‘den of terrorists’.
  • Iraqi spies warned the West of an ISIS suicide bomber threat the day before the Paris atrocities, it was revealed on Sunday, as more details of major intelligence failures began to emerge. The US-led coalition in Syria was apparently told by Iraqi security sources that 24 extremists were involved in the terror operation planned in the ISIS capital Raqqa and it would involve 19 attackers including five others including bombmakers and planners. No detail was given of when or where an attack might take place.
  • It has also emerged that Turkey’s authorities foiled a plot to stage a ‘Jihadi John revenge attack’ in Istanbul – involving a high-profile British jihadist – on the same day as the deadly massacre in Paris.
  • From as far back as August, France’s authorities possessed information that militants were said to be planning attacks on French concert halls after a tip-off was received from a 30-year-old man who was detained on his way back from Syria.
  • On Sunday night there were 42 people still said to be in intensive care in hospital following Friday’s terrorist attacks.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

  • French police are still hunting for three gunmen on the run, including Brussels-born Frenchman Salah Abdeslam, and an ISIS bombmaker likely to have made the suicide vests.
  • An international arrest warrant has been issued for Abdeslam, 26, who is accused of renting a Volkswagen Polo used by the suicide bombers. He is one of three brothers believed to be at the heart of the eight-strong ISIS cell.
  • It emerged on Sunday night that police found Abdeslam near the Belgian border early Saturday but let him go after he showed them his ID card. Officers pulled over the car being driven by Abdelslam on Saturday morning on the A2 motorway between Paris and Brussels. Two other men were also in the Seat car. At the time, officers in Paris knew that Abdeslam had rented the car used by the killers which had been abandoned near the theatre but the information had not been transmitted to those responsible for conducting the border checks.
  • His brother Ibrahim, 31, blew himself up in a solo attack outside cafe Comptoir Voltaire after renting a black Seat found abandoned today filled with AK-47s and ammunition. A third sibling, named as Mohamed Abdeslam, has been arrested in the Belgian capital.
  • On Sunday evening the French defence ministry announced that the country’s warplanes had bombed Islamic State’s stronghold in Syria’s Raqa, destroying a command post and a training camp, the defence ministry said. Ten fighter jets were involved, dropping 20 bombs.

Minutes after Ibrahim launched his solo attack, another group of militants – believed to be three men and a woman – armed with AK-47s stormed the Bataclan music hall and began shooting members of the crowd.

Survivors claim three blew themselves up and a fourth person was shot dead by police before they could detonate their bomb.

Salah Abdeslam, 26, from a suburb of Brussels known as the ‘jihadi’ capital of Europe, is now the subject of a vast international manhunt – but incredibly he was stopped and then released by officers guarding the Belgian border hours after the attacks.

One of his brothers, Ibrahim Abdeslam, 31, was one of seven terrorists who died on Friday night after he blew himself up in a solo attack outside cafe Comptoir Voltaire. He had rented a black Seat found yesterday in Paris packed with AK-47s and ammunition.

The third sibling, Mohammed Abdeslam, was in custody in Belgium last night after being arrested in a Brussels, where the ISIS terror cell may have met before the raid to gather automatic weapons and suicide vests.

Seven people have been detained in Belgium linked to the atrocities – three at the border and four in Brussels. Five are from the Molenbeek area of Brussels known as a ‘den of terrorists’.

Police revealed today they had found the other vehicle used in the terror attacks – a black Seat Leon - abandoned in the Montreuil area of France. The car is not shown in this photo but smashed glass, believed to be from the vehicle, remains on the floor after it was driven off

It has emerged that a car rented by Salah Abdeslam was abandoned by the Bataclan Theatre, while a Seat rented by his brother Ibrahim was dumped in Montreull with three AK-47s and some ammunition. Adeslam was questioned as he approached the Belgian border and Sunday morning in a third car which was later abandoned in the Jihadi hotspot of Molenbeek, where he disappeared

French police have said homegrown terrorist Omar Ismaël Mostefai, 29, from Courcouronnes, Paris, was one of the Bataclan suicide bombers where 89 died while Belgian Bilal Hadfi, 20, who had spent time fighting with ISIS in Syria before returning to Europe, detonated his suicide vest at the Stade de France where three died.

One of Bataclan suspects was found carrying a Syrian passport under the name Ahmed Almuhamed who travelled to France as a migrant through Greece and blew himself up at the Stade de France.

Greek ferry tickets reveal he travelled to Europe with another man named as Mohammed Almuhamed.

This morning French security sources claimed the fourth terrorist now identified is Frenchman Samy Aminour, 28, after a series of raids on addresses on the Parisian suburbs of Seine-Saint-Denis and Bobigny linked to his family overnight.

Police believe he was a part of the team of four terrorists who killed 89 at the Bataclan rock gig.

He is said to have been known to French anti-terror police since 2012 when he was prosecuted for trying to flee France for Yemen.

The French interior ministry confirmed that anti-terror police conducted 168 raids across the country overnight.

They have arrested dozens of people following the deadly attacks in Paris on Friday.

Heavily armed tactical units launched dozens of raids in Toulouse, Grenoble, Calais and two Paris suburbs.

They have arrested dozens of suspects and have seized a cache of weapons including a rocket launcher.

The down-at-heel suburb of Molenbeek in Brussels has been dubbed ‘a den of terrorists’ by Belgian media because it has repeatedly featured in attacks

The Islamist who killed people at a Paris kosher grocery in January at the time of the attack on the magazine Charlie Hebdo acquired weapons in the district.

Ayoub El Khazzani, the man behind August’s foiled attack on an Amsterdam-Paris train, had been staying in Molenbeek with his sister before initiating his strike.

Moroccan-born gunman Khazzani, 26, lived with his sister in Molonbeek, Brussels, weeks before his attempted attack on the Thalys train.

He stayed with his sister, who lives on the same road where two of the arrests were made in relation to the Paris attacks.

Several people spotted El Khazzani in the area where his sister lives in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek.

The sister was questioned by anti-terror detectives in Brussels. Now part of their investigation is around whether El Khazzani and the suspects planned the separate attacks.

Married Mother Seduces Her Son With N50,000 In A Hotel

While we hear about incest between fathers and daughters on a daily basis, it seems this abominable act is also committed between mothers and sons, though in this case the mother drugged the son.

An Asaba Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Delta State last Friday dissolved an 18-year-old marriage over a sexual intercourse by a mother with her son.

According to the Punch, the 45-year-old Mrs. Nkulumenna Owefa admitted before the court that she seduced her son in a hotel in Abagana, Anambra State, after she offered him the sum of N50,000.

It was gathered during the proceedings of the court that the woman who sells trades at the popular
Ogbeonogonogo market, Asaba deceptively asked his son (name withheld) to accompany her to Abagana near Onitsha, Anambra State where she booked into an hotel against her initial plan of meeting with one of her business partners at her residence in Asaba.

The son, who testified in court on what transpired between him and the mother before Senior Magistrate, Sylvester Oboh, said he was called upon by his mother to accompany her somewhere where she had bought some materials for sale.

He said, “On our way to Abagana, somewhere around Toll Gate in Asaba, we were held in hold-up; I was with mum in her car and the glasses were wound up as the AC was on. So our conversation was not being heard by hawkers going about with their wares or other motorists.

“My mum told me that she was going to take over me as my father has taken over my sister and I thanked her, not knowing what she was up to. In Abagana, after a lengthy discussion with her friend, we retired into the hotel room, where my mum gave me a bottle of coke already opened and I felt weak when she now undressed me before putting my d**k into her private part.”

The husband, Mr. Owefa, who was in court with her daughter, Adlyn to seek the dissolution of their marriage told the court, “All I need is the dissolution of this marriage.

“My wife has committed the worst abomination and the only forgiveness I have for her is the dissolution of the marriage. My son remains my son because I know he was not seduced with ordinary hand.”

The Senior Magistrate (Oboh), having listened to both parties, granted the dissolution of the marriage, saying the man would take of the two children.

#BelieveItOrNot Woman Claims Micheal Jackson’s Ghost Impregnated Her,Sues His Estate

A woman claims that her mixed race baby was fathered by Michael Jackson’s ghost – and is now suing his estate for child support

According to Now8News, Kiera Johnson said that she was watching the 2-hour Michael Jackson 30 Year Anniversary Special on DVD.

When she got to MJ’s performance of Thriller, however, her eyes grew heavy and she found herself dozing off.It was at this point that things got a little strange…

The 32-year-old explained:

“All of a sudden, I was awakened by a hand caressing my face. But I was home alone; my husband was at work.“The next thing you know, I’m having this erotic encounter with Michael Jackson. But it wasn’t the white Michael Jackson, he was black, and dressed like he was straight out of the Thriller video. “I told him to stop, but he would listen.”

Kiera dismissed the  encounter’ with Michael Jackson as nothing more than a strange dream.
However, on 25th September 2015, she and her husband – also white – welcomed their third child together.

“Everything was going well with the birth,” said her husband Ken.“But then when I saw my son, and he was black, I said ‘What the hell is this!’ I was in absolute shock. That’s when Kiera told me about her terrifying dream.

“I think it’s wrong what happened and that’s why we are suing Michael Jackson’s estate. We just want a decent amount of child support to help raise his son.”

Kiera insists she has never cheated on her husband Ken with anybody of any race. And Ken, who dubs Kiera as his “queen”, says he trusts and believes her completely.

The Johnsons say they are willing to accept an out-of-court negotiation and are giving the Jackson family until 1st January 2016 to respond. The Jackson family have yet to respond publicly to the allegations.

Mom Kills Son Before Taking Her Own Life In Arizona Hospital

A mother of a patient at a suburban Phoenix children’s hospital took her son’s life before taking her own, police said.
Nurses at Cardon Children’s Medical Center in Mesa found the woman and her 5-year-old child dead inside the child’s room while conducting a 2 a.m. bed check Saturday, Mesa police spokesman Steve Berry said:

“Every two hours they do a check,” Berry said. “They were seen alive and fine at midnight and then found at 2 a.m.”

The mother had a fatal gunshot wound, Berry said. He could not describe how the child died.
Upon finding the pair, the nurses immediately called for trauma units as well as security. An off-duty police officer was already working at the hospital, according to authorities.

Investigators believe the mother killed the child and then herself. Nobody at the hospital recalls hearing any gunshots or suspicious activity, Berry said. The boy was in a private room.

Berry told KPHO-TV that the woman was 27-year-old Tammy Griffith, and the 5-year-old’s name was Helious.

Police have completed their investigation of the scene and the room has been turned back over to the hospital. No one else in the hospital was threatened or harmed.
According to Mesa Police Department Det. Steve Berry  “Everything was kind of confined to that one room,” he said.

According to police, the boy had been hospitalized for the past week. Berry declined to say why the boy was hospitalized, citing privacy rules.

Banner Health, which owns Cardon Children’s Medical Center, said in a statement that each of their health care centers have a policy that prohibits weapons of any kind.

“The safety of our patients, associates and visitors is paramount to us and is our top priority,” the statement said. “Our thoughts are with the family and their loss at this time.”

The mother currently had an open case with the Arizona Department of Child Safety but she was the boy’s legal guardian, Berry said.

Teen Finds Out He’s Been Missing for 13 Years When He Tries to Apply for College

Straight out of a Lifetime movie comes this insane story from Ohio about a missing boy found safe and sound 13 years after he was abducted. Guess what? He didn’t even know he had been abducted!

On Aug. 28, 2002 in Vestavia Hills, Ala. 5-year-old Julian Hernandez was reported missing by his mother. Ever since then Vestavia Hills Police have been following leads to find Hernandez, who police thought was kidnapped by his father and non-custodial parent, Bobby Hernandez. After 13 years, Julian who is now 18 years old and had no idea he had been kidnapped, just turned up in Ohio all because he was trying to apply to college.

According to Jefferson County District Attorney Brandon Falls, Julian discovered his Social Security number didn’t match his name when he was filling out applications. With the help of a school guidance counselor, the two found out Julian was listed in the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children database.

Julian’s father Bobby has since been arrested in Cleveland and is in jail. A Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office representative said he’s been jailed for faking information given to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and for altering records. He may also be facing an interference of custody charge in Alabama, where authorities are trying to extradite him to.

Julian’s mother is “ecstatic” about his return home and through a representative released this statement:

“Our family was overjoyed this week to locate Julian and learn that he is safe. We want to thank everyone for their prayers and support during Julian’s disappearance. Although we appreciate the interest our story has generated, we will have to decline any requests for interviews or additional information at this time. We ask that the media respect our privacy as we focus on Julian’s well-being during this difficult time in his life.”

Bizarre Moment Oprah Winfrey Gets Ambushed By Man Claiming To Be Her Secret Son

Oprah Winfrey was ambushed by a man claiming to be her ‘secret son’ after she left a recent taping of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The 61-year-old media mogul was photographed as she attempted to deal with the man, Calvin Mitchell, during the awkward encounter outside Colbert’s New York studio.
Mitchell told Radar on Wednesday that Winfrey once asked his mother to adopt him at age 11 after he and the billionaire mogul met on the 1992 set of ABC’s movie-of-the-week, There Are No Children Here.
In the interview which labelled him Oprah’s ‘long-lost secret son’, Mitchell claimed that he has been estranged from Oprah for 20 years.
Mitchell said:

‘I want to ask Oprah, “Why did you leave me? Why did you leave me?” I’m still empty. I’m still searching. I don’t have closure to this. I just don’t understand.’

Oprah was seen acknowledging Mitchell outside the studios following her October 15 TV appearance and pressed her hand against his chest in the familiar way she frequently does with fans – before he left his phone number with her reps for further contact.
When he was younger, Oprah would allegedly send gifts to the boy with notes addressed: ‘To my son Calvin, I love you.’
She also allegedly paid for Mitchell to attend the private Christian boarding school, The Piney Woods School, in Mississippi until he dropped out at age 17.

‘I was young. I made a dumb decision, and Oprah wouldn’t forgive me. I feel like what she did was wrong,’ said Calvin, who later became suicidal after she ‘abandoned’ him.

‘She told me, “Calvin, just try to work it out. You can do it. Just hang in there.” She was trying to inspire me to do what was right. But even after the long pep talk she gave me, I still left.’

He added: ‘I just wanted to come home, and Oprah didn’t understand that.’

Oprah has always been incredibly generous in donating money to young students, having given 400 scholarships to Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and the school she opened for girls in South Africa.

Man Begs Soldiers To Kill His Son For Joining Boko Haram

One of the internally displaced persons at Pompomari camp in Damaturu, Yobe state capital, has appealed to security agents to “arrest and kill” his son for being a member of the Boko Haram sect.

The man, who is from Turo Kira village in Yobe, said his son attempted to kill him when the sect attacked his community. “I have nothing to do with him; he should be arrested and killed just like he killed others,” he said.
According to the Cable, the man, while speaking with reporters stated that he ha disowned his son.

Musa Jidawa, executive secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), said the suspect was arrested after someone who identified him raised an alarm. “A member of his Turo
Kura village identified the suspect and raised an alarm, saying he belongs to the sect and the suspect’s father, also an IDP at the camp, confirmed it, which led to his arrest,” Jidawa told journalists.

He disclosed that apart from the boy’s father, his mother, wife and child, were all taking refuge at the camp. Jidawa added that two other suspects, who disguised as visitors willing to see their relations, were also apprehended. He said the agency had reinforced security checks and means of identification to ensure that non-members do not gain access to the camp.

Tyga Posts Video Of Son Next To Pile Of Weed?

Tyga posted an adorable video of his son King Cairo playing in his living room … problem is, there is a pile of what looks like marijuana right smack in front of the boy.

The 3-year-old is within arms reach of the green pile, which sits on a coffee table next to a package of Swisher Sweets cigars people typically use to roll blunts.

Tyga and baby mama Blac Chyna have been in an on-again-off-again custody war over the boy, and this can’t help Tyga’s cause.

TMZ reached out to Tyga’s lawyer for comment and got no response … but after we placed the call Tyga removed the video from his Snapchat.

The Director-General of Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Dr Joseph Odumodu, has said that the agency has seized substandard products worth four billion naira since the beginning of the year.

Odumodu who made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday, said that in September, the agency seized substandard telephone sets worth N350 million.

“In the last three days, we have confiscated over N350 million worth of telephone sets that are substandard.

Boy Fatally Shoots Thief Who Broke Into Their Home And Discovers That The Thief Was His Father

A teen fatally shot a masked intruder who broke into his home only to later discover the victim was his father, officials said.

Malachi Heisler spotted someone pointing a weapon at his mother when he opened his bedroom door early Tuesday morning, according to Florida’s Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. The 18-year-old opened fire after the man turned the weapon toward him, police said.

“It was a standoff between me and him,” Heisler told NBC affiliate WFLA. “He had his pistol and I had my rifle. A bullet is a bullet, one shot, you’re dead.”

Police spokeswoman Cecilia Barreda confirmed to NBC News that the assailant was found with two
BB guns.

The man died on the scene and was later identified as 46-year-old John Heisler, the sheriff’s office said in a statement. Authorities say John Heisler had tried to break into the St. Petersburg home his son shared with his sister, mother, and the mother’s boyfriend just about midnight.

After hearing a loud crash, Malachi Heisler’s mother Jolene Andrews, 37, who is also the suspect’s ex-girlfriend, went outside to investigate with her current boyfriend, Alton Pyles. They found the suspect wearing a ski mask with black tactical gear and retreated back into the house when he pulled out the weapon.

Authorities say John Heisler followed the couple into the house, grabbed Andrews and forced her to the ground. Pyles, 47, called out to her son for help.

“I woke up to my name being called,” Malachi Heisler told WFLA. “I heard the words ‘Malachi’ and ‘help,’ that’s all I heard when I woke up.”

Fearing for his life the teen ended up shooting his father in the upper body, officials said. Heisler’s 13-year-old sister was also in the home during the incident.

Earlier this year, the children’s mother took out a restraining order against John Heisler after he was arrested in April and charged as a felon in possession of firearms, Malachi Heisler told WFLA.

“He wasn’t a good dad, no (expletive) father of the year awards,” he added.

Police spokeswoman Barreda said that the incident was still under investigation but that no arrests were made and that “justifiable homicide” was been speculated as the situation on hand.

Mum Begs Chelsea Fans After Missing Son Was Spotted In Crowd At Stamford Bridge

A heartbroken mum has pleaded for the help of Chelsea fans in finding her missing son – who vanished 11 months ago – after she ‘spotted’ him in the crowd at Stamford Bridge.
Lesley Edwards, 54, has been desperately searching for Jon Anderson Edwards after he disappeared without a trace while working in Lagos, Portugal, in September 2014.

The chef, originally from Arbroath, Scotland, suffered head injuries in a fall and the 31-year-old then
failed to turn up for work.

His friends later discovered he had left his clothes, passport and phone in his apartment and a police search in both Portugal and the UK has so far drawn a blank
But Lesley, who initially travelled to Lagos to search for Jon, believes she may have spotted her son among Chelsea supporters in a picture taken at a recent game.
She told Mirror Online:

“We’ve been searching for him for almost a year now and we’ve had so many wrong sightings and different twists and turns but I saw that picture last night and said ‘God that looks like John’.
“My heart skipped a beat and I was up half the night. Even if we can find the information to discount it at least we can move on but if it’s not him it’s his absolute double…

Lesley is looking for help from anyone who may be able to confirm or rule out the sighting and an appeal has already been shared more than 1,500 times on Facebook.
She said:

“The search was really well publicised over in Portugal but we’ve never had any information, it’s a mystery.
“He went out on a Friday night and had a fall and said he’d been feeling sick and dizzy afterwards. He went missing without his phone, clothes and passport. How he’d have got back into the country I don’t know as the Portuguese police still have his passport.
“We’re contacting the club and police to try and get to the bottom of it but we’re hoping someone out there who was at the game or recognises him may be able to help us.”

Mother Stabs 7Yr Old Son For Raping His 2Yr Old Sister And A Neighbour’s Daughter

A seven-year-old boy, identified simply as Promise, has been stabbed by her mother with broken bottles for allegedly defiling his two-year-old step-sister and the daughter of a neighbour.

The incident happened on Monday on Tunde Olusola Street, in the Ijaiye-Ojokoro area of Lagos.

The mother, Mrs. Blessing Fred, was said to have gone out with her daughter on Sunday, leaving Promise behind.
While the mother was away, Promise went to visit five-year-old Yemi (pseudonym) ? the neighbour’s daughter ? at her parents’ apartment. He was said to have met Yemi alone and took her to his mother’s room.

On getting to the room, he reportedly told her to remove her clothes and lie down. He laid on top of the girl and fiddled with her private parts.

Yemi’s mother had left her with her sister, who was said to have left home when the incident happened.

Punch Metro reports that Yemi narrated what transpired between her and Promise to her mother when she came back.

A neighbour who spoke to Punch said that Yemi’s mother invited Promise to her apartment and verified the story in the presence of her daughter.

She said, “Initially, he denied. But when the woman assured him that she would not tell his mother, he opened up and said it was true. He said he had been doing it with his step-sister too. The woman later reported Promise to his mother and he confessed to her as well.”

“She first beat him with a stick on Monday for the offence. But all of a sudden, she smashed a bottle and stabbed him in the back.”

A resident, Bose Komolafe, said Fred had been arrested by the police from the Ijaiye-Ojokoro Police Division, while Promise had been admitted to a hospital in the area.

She said, “Some neighbours rushed to rescue the child from her. He is on admission at a hospital.

Court Orders Nyako, Son Remanded In EFCC Custody

Justice Evoh Chukwu of the Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday ruled that a former Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, and his son, Abdulaziz, should be remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission till Friday when applications for their bail would be heard.

In making the order, the judge overruled the argument of the defence counsel who wanted his clients remanded in prison. Mr. Nyako, his son and two others, are standing trial over a 37-count charge bordering on corruption and money laundering.

The EFCC arraigned the suspects on Wednesday after rearresting them on Tuesday. When the charges were read to them, they pleaded not guilty. The EFCC is prosecuting the governor and the three other suspects over allegations of stealing, abuse of office and money laundering.

The anti-graft agency  had interrogated them over alleged illicit funds traced to companies in which they have interest.

UCLA Football Staff Want Charges Against P Diddy Dropped

Football coaches at UCLA apparently want the felony charges against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs dropped.

According to TMZ:

Sources directly connected with the team tell TMZ, the coaches are regretful the situation escalated to an arrest. They think Diddy is a jerk who they’d like to make persona non grata, but they don’t want to make this a courtroom spectacle, largely because it would be bad for the team.

Sources with direct knowledge of the confrontation between Diddy and Sal Alosi tell us, after the incident the coaches all decided to just let it go. They believe an intern called UCLA police and when the cops arrived, they asked to see the video and that was enough to hook Diddy up.

We’re told head coach Jim Mora does not want a criminal prosecution. The interns who were present and allegedly threatened could press the case, but if Mora is against it they would probably follow suit.

Law enforcement sources tell us … the case will go to the L.A. County D.A. for felony review next week. The D.A. could prosecute even without victims … there is a video, but that’s problematic.

Diddy claims he picked up the kettlebell in self-defense after Alosi and 4 others made an aggressive move.

David Mark Sacks Son, Younger Brother, 120 Personal Assistants

Reports gathered that Mark decided to dispose them after his ruling party was ousted from the presidency on March 28. It was indeed a double tragedy for Mark as his party also failed to return to power in his own Benue State.

‘Emotionless’ Son Who Brutally Murdered His Mother As She Slept Gets 30 Years Jail Time

Sadistic Alexander McDonald tortured his mother by stabbing her through the neck with a knitting needle, a court heard.

The 27-year-old waiter had downed alcohol at a wine tasting evening at his work before taking cocaine. He then embarked on a sex texting conversation with a male friend which left him ‘in a state of sexual excitement’.
He was jailed at Exeter Crown Court after he was convicted of murdering his 57-year-old mother Catherine.

Mr Justice Dingemans said: “I am sure the attack was carried out in order to subdue Ms McDonald so that Mr McDonald could satisfy his sexual urges which were unsatisfied following his sexting conversation. This is another evidence based example of the destruction caused by the use of drugs in society. I do not doubt that Mr McDonald would have not have acted as he did but for the ingestion of the drugs which disinhibited him.
“But the jury found on overwhelming evidence Mr McDonald was both capable of forming an intention to kill, and in the course of his attack, did form that intention.”

Adams Oshiomhole’s Mother Explains Why Her Son Married A Foreigner

Aishetu Oshiomhole, the mother of the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has stated that she backed her son’s marriage to Iara Fortes to avoid crisis in the governor’s immediate family.

Mr. Oshiomhole married Cape Verdean Iara Fortes at a private wedding attended by family members and friends including Nigeria’s President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on May 15 in Edo State; five years after his first wife, Clara, died of cancer.

In an interview with Vanguard Newspaper, the governor’s mother described Iara Fortes as a very good woman who behaves like the governor’s late wife.

“I supported him to marry a foreigner so that the relationship between my son and his children will remain cordial. Our Nigerian women will go and destroy the family just because they want property. That was the main reason I supported him to marry a foreigner when he told me about it.

So I am happy about it. Besides, the new wife is a very good woman,” she said.

Mrs. Oshiomhole also spoke of her late daughter-In-law, describing her as a peace loving person.

“Normally, people spend two years or less before they marry again but Comrade decided to wait for five years due to the love he had for his late wife. And Clara was a good person, very lovely and nice to all of us. So we supported Comrade for taking time to re-marry because we loved Clara.

“Comrade and the former wife lived very happily, there was no quarrel, nothing at all and that was why he mourned for five years. I am happy that he brought a wife that will bring him and the children together,” she stated.

Speaking on her son’s new wife, she described her as “very accommodating, understanding and hard working.”
“And you know my son travels a lot as a governor. He needs a woman who understands his work and that is the kind of wife he married. She is just like Clara,” she said.

My Son Not Arrested For Money Laundering- Aregbesola

The governor of the state of Osun, Rauf Aregbesola, has debunked speculations that one of his sons was arrested for money laundering.

Mr. Aregbesola said through a statement by his spokesperson, Semiu Okanlawon, that “misguided elements” were behind tales that his son was arrested by security agents.

The statement reads, “It has become pertinent to inform Nigerians and others generally that there is no iota of truth in the story being peddled around by some misguided elements claiming that a son of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, Kabir Aregbesola was arrested at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos today Tuesday May 12, 2015 with a huge sum of money in foreign currencies.

“We have discovered the the authors of the wicked and malicious lie are doggedly pursuing their agenda by engaging in an aggressive push for the falsehood to reach a larger population especially using the social media.

“The younger Aregbesola neither traveled anywhere nor had any encounter with any security personnel today. It is obvious the evil minds at work are out to drag an innocent young man’s name into this dirt in order to get at his father.

“Obviously, part of the game plans of those behind this orchestrated lie is to whip up sentiments especially among the workers in Osun whose salaries are being delayed as part of the fallout of the national revenue crisis and demonise the governor.

“Aregbesola has maintained a life of a moderate family man with a set of highly disciplined children who cannot be found wanting on issues of morals and societal values

“Members of the public are therefore urged to dismiss the falsehood because it is just another handiwork of mischievous minds.”

Woman Detained in Lebanon Not ISIS Leader’s Wife, Says Iraq

Iraq says a woman detained in Lebanon is not the wife of the Islamic State (IS) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Lebanese officials said on Tuesday that the army had picked up a woman named Saja al-Dulaimi after she tried to enter from Syria with forged papers. But the Iraqi interior ministry said on Wednesday that while Ms Dulaimi was from a family of known militants, she was not married to Baghdadi.

Unofficially, the Lebanese army says it still thinks it is holding his wife. A source told the BBC it believed the woman was a current or former spouse of the IS leader. The Iraqi interior ministry said Baghdadi’s wives were believed to be named Asma Fawzi Mohammed al-Dulaimi and Isra Mahal al-Qaisi.

Wife of ISIS Leader Detained in Lebanon

Lebanese authorities have detained a wife and son of the leader of the Islamic State group, and she is being questioned, two senior Lebanese officials said Tuesday. A military official said the woman and her son were detained about 10 days ago while carrying fake identification cards.

Both officials refused to give further details about the woman who is believed to be one of the wives of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the group’s reclusive leader. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.

The military official said the woman is a Syrian citizen and is being questioned by authorities. The officials refused to give details about the son.

The Lebanese daily As-Safir was the first to break the news, saying they were detained near a border crossing point with Syria. It added that the arrest was in “coordination with foreign intelligence agencies.”

Very little is known about al-Baghdadi’s personal life, including how many wives and children he has. Conservative interpretations of Islam allow for a man to marry up to four wives.

Al-Baghdadi’s first wife is believed to be Iraqi citizen Suja al-Dulaimi, who was reportedly held by Syrian authorities and freed in a prisoner exchange with al-Qaida’s branch in Syria earlier this year. In March, the Nusra Front freed more than a dozen Greek Orthodox nuns, ending their four-month captivity in exchange for Syrian authorities releasing dozens of female prisoners.

ECSTATIC DOCUMENTATION OF REALITY: A Man Like Me by ‘Debayo Coker

AMLMTitle: A MAN LIKE ME:Noteography of A Father To His Son)

Author: ‘Debayo Coker

Pages: 153 pages

Published: April, 2014

Reviewer: Olutayo Irantiola
There comes a time in the life of a young man when he ascertains his manliness when he gives birth to a child after marriage. As Africans, a man is extremely proud when he has a son. This led to the foray of ‘Debayo’s writing as a father to his son. The 153 page-book is about an expectant father who went on an “adrenaline flight”. His desire was to write a short note on social media pages but the flow culminated into a collection of notes.

Although, ‘Debayo calls it a note, I see it as a letter. Each of the note ends in a sign off. As he wrote in the book, Debayo’s first son was born in 2014 and he wrote this book in a futuristic manner; this book has all the desires of a father to his son.

There are many instructional advices that are essential for living which include continuity of family traditions. ‘Debayo wants his son to teach his children what he has been taught by previous generations. He states that, “My mother was a very positive influence on me, I wish you had met her but don’t worry I will teach you all she taught me” page 9.

Unfortunately, his wife too had lost her father but from her account written by ‘Debayo,“MyPD could not stop telling the story of how her father would come pick her from school, bare her on his shoulders and talked with her as they walked back to his office… I love that act and since your maternal granddad is no more around to do that for you I will be helping him out” page 12.

Another advice for the son is putting God ahead in all things. This he mentioned using Biblical allusion in the book, there were 4 Bible verses mentioned, the parable of the talents, wealth that develops wings, story of Joseph, Pharaoh, Saul, Nebuchadnezzar, Joshua-like courage.

‘Debayo encouraged his son to volunteer for the collective good of the community. This was through his involvement in Environmental sanitation in their locality which comes up on the last Saturday of the month in some states in Nigeria. This is mentoring by examples.

Respect for everyone is also an advice for his son. Everyone has the trait of getting so full of one another but with such advice, the son has been taught humility. This was illustrated in the story of Aunty Kore and Uncle Charles.

Every child must be taught about responsibility. ‘Debayo made his son know some area that he needs to be responsible: in his dressing, in his academic pursuit, in handling properties, to adults and to humanity.

Parental discipline is crucial in the life of a child. ‘Debayo was able to portray that discipline goes beyond caning a child; he checked his son’s school bag to find an x-rated magazine there. He advised him against taking things from classmates. Similarly, he warned his son against unauthorized borrowing out of books from his study, this will be sanctioned by purchasing the missing books from his pocket money.

Realities of life was shown in the book through wrong exposure, loss of jobs, disaster, sickness, drunkenness, suffering, psychiatric challenges, teenage pregnancies, premarital sex, rape of a daughter by her father, gays in boarding schools and stealing of other’s items.

‘Debayo narrated a part of his growing up to his son, which shows the desire of a father that do not want his son to repeat the same mistakes that he committed while he was young. He, thus, laid bare his life before his son and got so close to him. The closeness helped his son to be free to tell his father everything about him. His father was able to detect his interest and helped him to pattern his life towards it.

The chapterization of the book deals with each topic per time, but it would have been expected that the chapters become longer because the young man has matured beyond short notes. It would have been expected that the chapters become longer from the time in which the young man got into Secondary school.

Although ‘Debayo attempted to answer questions that would have been asked by his readers.  The responses of the boy to his father’s notes. “In the meantime, I want to seek your permission to do a compendium of your responses to the notes I have written to you so far.”

‘Debayo knows that writing in another language in a book, the work must be italicized and also have the tonal marks. Yoruba language is tonal; a single word can have different meanings, for a reader of Yoruba language. The tonal mark is very essential. These are the proverbs in the book:

  1. Ile laa wo kato somo l’oruko-page 16.
  2. Ti omode bamo owo we oni lati ba agba jeun-page 103.

Likewise, there are a lot of Yoruba proverbs and sayings that would have embellished the book for global relationship.

Some of the missing gaps in the book also include, details of the siblings are very sketchy, and the detail of the son’s dating, when they met her parents and the eventual marriage. Every man feels greatly accomplished when his son is getting married, the age of the son at the time in which he got married, he is about 18 years old and name of the granddaughter. However, this is allowed for the reader to fill such gaps.

Despite all that has been said, this book is well crafted, direct and engaging. Every growing child should have this as a handbook to guide in the journey of life. As a father, are you true to your son as

‘Debayo made everything plan to his son? There are a lot of lessons to learn from this book which transcends ethnicity or gender.
