Why Zahra Buhari`s Wedding Was Postponed

The wedding ceremony of Zahra, the 21 year old daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari, earlier scheduled for this weekend has been postponed.

The postponement is reported to be as a result of President Buhari`s insistence on a low-key wedding as he is not comfortable with the attention the media is giving to his daughter’s wedding.

Recall that there were media reports that the family of the groom, Ahmed Indimi presented about 30 LV bags to the bride, Zahra.

The 30 bags which allegedly cost about £120, 000 (approximately N47,144,502, using the official rate of N392.87 to a pound) are said to have been delivered in 30 exotic cars.

An introduction ceremony between both families had earlier held at the Aso Villa, Abuja on Friday, November 18, with the wedding programme scheduled between Wednesday 30th November and Sunday 4th December, 2016.

Federal Executive Council Meeting Postponed

The Federal Executive Council meeting earlier scheduled for Friday morning has been postponed till Monday, December 21.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, told newsmen that the postponement was to allow the ministers reflect on some of the corrections made on the 2016 budget proposal during a meeting of the National Economic Council held on Thursday.

“We are being given time between now and Monday to go and rejig our figures because when the National Economic Council met yesterday, certain issues were thrown up which if not resolved will distort the entire budget proposal.

” So we are all going to get back on areas in which each ministry will go and do its own rejigging,” he said.

Real Reason Inauguration Of 8th Lagos Assembly Was Postponed

On Wednesday, the Lagos State House of Assembly postponed the inauguration of the 8th Assembly of the state. While the statement did not give any reason for the postponement, PREMIUM TIMES gathered from sources close to the assembly that the postponement was connected to the lingering tussle and ongoing horse trading among various interests and power blocks within the All Progressives Congress in the state on who to replace outgoing speaker, Adeyemi Ikufuriji,

Though the party has not officially zoned the position to any senatorial district in the state, a source close to top decision makers who asked not to be named because he did not have the authority to speak officially on the issue, told PREMIUM TIMES it was taken for granted that the next Speaker should come from the Lagos Central Senatorial District.

It was assumed that since the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, and his deputy, Idiat Adebule, are from the two other senatorial districts – Lagos East and Lagos West, respectively, the position speaker, which is the number three position in the state, should come from Lagos Central.

But things appear to have fallen apart among politicians and elected assembly members from the Lagos Central Senatorial District who are working at cross purposes.
