Woman Allegedly Plots Grandfather’s Kidnap

A trader, Ayisat Amodu, who allegedly conspired with two others to kidnap her grandfather, was yesterday remanded in prison custody by an Ilorin Magistrate’s Court. Magistrate Mohammed Ibrahim ordered the accused remanded at the Federal Prison, Okekura, Ilorin, while the case was adjourned till March 22 for mention.

Amodu, a resident of Ilesha Baruba in Kwara, is facing trial with Ali Mohammed and Adamu Hassan in the court. The Prosecutor, Inspector Nasiru Yusuf, told the court that the trader, along with Mohammed and Hassan, kidnapped her grandfather, Yakub Bello, for a ransom.

Yusuf said that the trio committed the offence sometimes in March at Tunbuyan Fulani Camp in Ilesha Baruba in Baruteen Local Government Area of Kwara State. The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 1, 2 and 6 of Kwara State Prohibition of Kidnapping Law, 2010.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

PDP Plots To Return Mark As Senate President

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is allegedly plotting a sensational return of David Mark as the Senate President in the Eight Assembly.

The party is seriously mobilizing its members in the Senate to ensure Mark is re-elected for the third consecutive time.

The party’s calculation is that senators from the All Progressives Congress (APC) may split along ethnic lines in their choice of who becomes the Senate President.

The party hopes to win to its side some APC senators to vote for Mark along with the PDP senators. The APC has 60 elected senators while the PDP has 49.

Senate Presidency: PDP Plots Against APC

As the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senators await the leadership of the party on the zoning of positions, especially the principal officers of the National Assembly, there are indications that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is plotting to snatch the Senate President from the party.

The APC has about 60 Senators elected on its platform in the March 28 National Assembly election, while the PDP that  before now had the majority, only has 49 senators elected in the election.

Investigations revealed that as the North East and North Central zones are lobbying for the Senate presidency, the PDP, is putting its house in order to come out with a candidate anticipating that the APC might not agree on a sole candidate.

APC Accuses PDP Of Plots To Impeach Aregbesola

Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party is plotting to rig during Saturday’s House of Assembly election.

APC’s Director of Publicity, Kunle Oyatomi, said in a statement on Friday that the PDP was “violently mobilizing to snatch victory in 16 of the 26 House of Assembly seats, in a desperate bid to put the PDP in the comfortable position to eventually impeach the governor.”

Meanwhile, the 26 lawmakers in the Osun State House of Assembly are all members of the APC. The APC has, however, vowed it would resist plans by the PDP to rig in the election.
