Alibaba Shows Off His Pet Dogs Named After Obasanjo, Others

Veteran comedian Alibaba shared a photo of himself with his pet dogs on social media on Wednesday.

Alibaba revealed he named the dogs over past leaders including Obasanjo, Abacha etc.

Read below what he wrote alongside the photo above

My dogs and I back in the day. Must have had like 12 at a particular point in time. Interesting time. That time I mean. I had traveled and returned at night, but was too tired to relate with them. OBJ, the big Alsatian was the head of the pack. Then Obama was the big black and white Great Dane, the Alsatian on the bummer was Thatcher. Thatcher must have given me like 18 puppies. In her good days (X120k per puppy) the ridge back by Thatcher was called Madiba. It arrived from South Africa on the birthday of Mandela

The Second Harlequin Great Dane was named after Queen Amina… But the fiercest of my odds were Chaka, IBB AND Abacha. They took no prisoners. In fact, if I gave you anything I had used before, like shoes or clothes,my advice is not to wear them to my home. Because if Chaka, or Abacha caught a whiff of that item on you… You will not like yourself. They were my trusted securities and my friend. One time in LEKKI, 1997 or so, a guy scaled the fence into my compound in the night. I was woken up to a shouts of “Oga come o!!!!!”

“Oga I am finished!” And Usman my maiguard was having a good laugh. At 2am! The petty thief was on the roof of my V-Boot. I was more scared for his life than he was of it. Because then we had Chaka, Ghadaffi and Clinton. Those who new these dogs will testify to their brutality. Goask@basorge_tariahand@officialbunmidavies… But with hind sight now, I am just thanking God. Yes oooo! O have to thank God ooo. That it was not now, that I named my dogs after any sitting president and foreign leaders. In fact, Obasanjo himself was very impressed years later when his friend that brought me a gift from Baba, told him how a dog called OBJ in Ali Baba’s house nearly killed him. Baba used to warn my wife then, that if she ever decided to have a dog meal, she should not touch OBJ… But then again,

OBJ had a different kind of personality and a high sense of humor. Everyone can not be the same. So I understand. An that is all I have to say.

Why OBJ Picked Jonathan As VP In 2007, Alamieyeseigha Opens Up

Revealing the intrigues that led to the choice of Jonathan as vice president in his country home in Yenagoa, former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, said it was part of Obasanjo’s grand plan to stop Alhaji Atiku Abubakar from succeeding him in 2007.

The former governor said from the discussions he had with Obasanjo, he knew that Jonathan was going to be the vice president of Nigeria as far back as August 25, 2005.

He said Obasanjo’s fear then, was that Atiku had secretly endorsed Alamieyeseigha as his running mate and had perfected plans to succeed him (OBJ) at the expiration of his second tenure.

Alamieyeseigha said the choice of Jonathan as vice president was to frustrate the emergence of Atiku and himself as  PDP flag bearers in 2007.

He expressed regrets that his impeachment, imprisonment and travails in office were part of the plot by Obasanjo, who he described as “devil incarnate” to stop him from becoming Atiku’s deputy.

His words: “For Goodluck, I knew that Jonathan was going to be vice president of Nigeria as far back as August 25, 2005.  Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, told me that since  Atiku and I wanted to take his job, that it would be over his dead body; and that unless he died, Atiku cannot be president of Nigeria.

“Obasanjo said since Atiku had picked me as his running mate, he would make sure that he dealt with and disgraced us. He said  he was going to use my deputy to rubbish me before everybody. So, I knew.”

On why he picked Jonathan as his deputy, Alamieyeseigha said he needed an establishment person and somebody who was not too ambitious.

He described Jonathan as humble and a man with strong character, who could be relied upon to handle a position of responsibility.”

Turai Yar’Adua Runs To OBJ For Help As EFCC Goes After Her Daughter

Former First Lady, Turai Yar’Adua, on Saturday visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

Mrs. Yar’Adua, reportedly accompanied to the former president’s residence by businessman Kenny Martins, met privately with Mr. Obasanjo for more than an hour before departing in a convoy of three cars, our sources said.

It is the former First Lady’s visit to Mr. Obasanjo since her husband died in office in 2010 after prolonged illness.

Those close to her said during the visit, she thanked the former President for finding her late husband a worthy successor, and pleaded with him to forgive her and her family for whatever wrong was done to him (Obasanjo) during Mr. Yar’Adua’s tenure.

Mr. Obasanjo, who helped the late president to power in 2007, had grown critical of the former President’s immediate family and associates who he accused of mounting a “cloak and dagger operation” to conceal Mr. Yar’Adua’s health status and block his then deputy (Goodluck Jonathan), from assuming power.

Our sources said Mrs. Yar’Adua also pleaded with Mr. Obasanjo to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari not to harass or victimize her family members or those who worked with her husband.

“She specifically intimated the former President of the ongoing probe of one of her daughters, Zainab, by the EFCC. She believed it is a witch-hunt, a ploy by the Buhari government to get at her family,” one of our sources said.

An aide of Mr. Obasanjo confirmed the visit.

“It is true that she visited on Saturday,” the aide said. “I don’t know exactly what she discussed with Baba (Obasanjo). But I think it is safe to say she came to greet him and discuss issues relevant to the two families.”

Obasanjo Recommends Soludo As Finance Minister To Buhari

General Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in the historic March 28th presidential elections have turned the political structures of the PDP on its head in a manner that marveled many within the country.
However, the uncertainties surrounding the staffing of the incoming Buhari administration appears to pose a more intriguing scenario. This is as sources say the horse trading for the sensitive ministerial positions within the Buhari administration has already commenced.

Ex-CBN Governor, Charles Soludo is said to have been presented by President Olusegun Obasanjo as the new Minister of Finance for the Buhari administration. But some APC big men are not happy…

Soludo had served as a member of the economic team for the Obasanjo administration prior to becoming the governor of the CBN.

Soludo’s presentation to the incoming administration as the likely minister of finance is reported to have raised eyebrows within the inner circles of the APC – who explained that Soludo remains a card carrying member of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, a party that hates the APC with passion. They complained that Soludo cannot be allowed to reap where he did not sow. But Soludo is not really an APGA man, he only went to Anambra to contest governorship election and has since left.

It is also believed that APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is not comfortable with Soludo but since he has a lot of respect for Obasanjo, he is open to further discussion ahead of May 29.

OBJ Writes Buhari, Urges Him To Mobilize People Of Goodwill To Reform Nigeria

Former Nigerian head of state Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday reached out to president-elect Muhammadu Buhari, in a possible sign that he is prepared to help the country’s leader-in-waiting.

“I am sure there are men and women of goodwill, character and virtue… that you can mobilise to join hands with you in the reform, repairs and re-direction that will be imperative to put Nigeria back on fast lane,” Obasanjo said in a letter to Buhari.

Both Obasanjo, 78, and Buhari, 72, are both former military rulers of Africa’s most populous nation who have gone on to become elected civilian president.

His public letter to Buhari so soon after his election win will likely be interpreted as a pitch for a job, after he made encouraging noises to Buhari’s candidacy on the campaign trail. “With so much harm already done to many national institutions, including the military, which proudly nurtured you and me, you will have a lot to do on institution reform,” he wrote.

OBJ Disowns Social Media Accounts, Denies Calling Fani-Kayode Democracy Wrecker

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has dissociated himself from any socio-media account in his name, saying he does not operate any.

The former President was reacting to a twitter account, @newsvergeonline, which had posted a tweet on Sunday, claiming that Obasanjo had described the Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode, as a “democracy wrecker.”

He said the fake tweet account with his name, Olusegun A. Obasanjo posted the story with the caption, “Fani-Kayode is a democracy wrecker, who’s very fluent in stupidity. Give him food, and he will sing and do “shoki” dance for you.”

Why Obasanjo’s at War with Jonathan, GEJ Refused to be his Errand Boy- Owie

Former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Rowland Owie, has alleged that the reason former President Olusegun Obasanjo was at war with the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan was because the latter refused to be an errand boy to the former President.

He said that Nigerians were suffering today due to the faulty foundation laid by the former President.

He said: “The former president should apologize to Nigerians rather than blame the administration of President Jonathan which is doing very well for Nigerians.

“I am impressed that more and more Nigerians are getting to know that Obasanjo is not truthful and claims to be what he is not. Obasanjo ran the most corrupt government since the amalgamation of Nigeria. The revenue that Obasanjo got in only one year of his wasted eight years regime was almost the total revenue that Ibrahim Babangida’s regime got in eight years. While many legacies were left behind by IBB’s regime, there is nothing good that can be traced to Obasanjo’s regime.

“All Obasanjo was known for was election rigging both within the PDP and the general elections. Obasanjo openly rigged out late Sunday Awoniyi at the PDP national convention in 2000 at Eagle Square in favour of colourless opponents. He used the police to invade the Apo Mansion, all in his bid to ruin the independence of the National Assembly. Obasanjo is worse than Hitler. Obasanjo is like a poisonous crop that germinated on Nigerian soil.

“He should hide his head in shame as he is the forerunner of the anti-Christ. In the Benin Kingdom before the arrival of the whites, a man like Obasdanjo who failed woefully in public administration would have been banished. The problem between Jonathan and Obasanjo is that Jonathan refused to be his errand boy.

“There is no President of Nigeria that Obasanjo has not fought. Even the late Musa Yar’Adua, whom he brought without the consent of the North, he fought, even after the latter’s death.”

Obasanjo’s Book Sells Out, SSS Block Importation Of More Copies

Capture

The controversial autobiography of former President Olusegun Obasanjo titled “My Watch” has reportedly sold out just four days after it was officially launched.

An associate to the former President who spoke with Sahara Reporters, said Obasanjo has exhausted the first copies of the book. “Baba sold all the copies that were brought in,” the associate said

The book sold out despite a high court injunction to stop it from circulating. A judge had ordered that copies of the book be confiscated by the police and the DSS after Obasanjo went ahead to launch it despite a court order not to do so…

The associate of the former President who spoke to SR said SSS have stopped the importation of more copies of the book. “The SSS people have told us that they won’t allow more copies of the book into the country,”

The three volume book among many things, critiqued the leadership style of President Jonathan as well as his former VP Atiku Abubakar, Late President Yar’Adua as well former Governors Ibori, Tinubu and Saraki.
