N4,000 Print Out, Not Compulsory for all Corp Members – NYSC DG, Brig. Gen Olawunmi

A live tweet conversation between and NYSC DG, Brig. Gen. Johnson Olawumi, conducted Friday reveals that the N4,000 payment for print outs of call up letters is optional.

Using  hashtag  , questions were raised surrounding issues that affect corps members, but most importantly was the N4,000 call up letter print outs fee.

When asked what was the idea behind the N4,000 NYSC charge, he said, “it is for those who want to process their call-up letters online… It is for those who want to avoid the cost & risk of travelling to their schools to collect their call-up letters,”  adding that, “the fee is totally optional,” and that “Those who wish to pick up in their schools are still allowed to do so at no cost.”

Olawunmi went further to state that “Those whose documents have been verified by NYSC for 2014 Batch C can print their call-up letter anywhere.”

He also complied to the assertion that  students don’t have to pay the N4,000 and international students can use the service, which will always be optional. In other words, prospective corps members now have the option of not travelling to their various schools to collect their call up letter.

When asked it is true that from 2015 Batch A, the N4000 charge will become compulsory, he said, “No. The initiative is optional now and will remain so.”
