Man buys three-year old boy for N500, kills him for ritual.

A mother of four children, Mrs Chinasa Okereke, has revealed how a 15-year-old boy collected N500 from an Alfa to abduct her three-year-old son for ritual at Ijegun, Lagos State.

Chinasa, who spoke with newsmen on Sunday, alleged that the teenager, who is also a neighbour stole her son, Chiagozie.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports the teenager identified as Simon had earlier confessed to the police that an unidentified Alfa, now in police custody, asked him to supply a three-year-old child.

When the three-year-old was finally located by detectives from Isheri Police Station, he was already dead.

Chinasa, who broke down in tears, said that she was not only grieving for her murdered son, but also scared about strange men on motorbikes coming to threaten her and her husband, Augustine Okereke.

The woman who lives in a multi-room building, has three other children, apart from Chiagozie. The eldest is 10years old, the second child is eight years old. Chiagozie was her third child. Her fourth child is just nine months old.

She explained that on a fateful day, she wanted to give three of her children a bath outside the house when the three-year-old child was abducted.

According to her account, she had briefly stepped into the house to get a wrapper to strap the nine-month-old to her back. But when she returned Chiagozie was nowhere to be found.

When she asked her eight-year-old daughter the whereabouts of her little brother, the girl said that Simon, the 15-year-old living in the building next door had taken him away.

“When my daughter told me that Simon took Chiagozie, I immediately rushed to his house, but his guardians said they had been looking for him too. When it was getting late, we went to the police station to report that Simon took our son and that we couldn’t find him.

“Police took over the case and soon located and arrested Simon. He was taken to the station. Singing like a bird, he revealed how the Alfa came to pick him and Chiagozie with a car.

“When detectives asked questions from residents of the community, they were told that they saw the Alfa driving off with Simon and Chiagozie.

“The suspect led police to the scene where the Alfa took him and Chiagozie. The corpse of Chiagozie was found laid out on the ground. A big stone was beside his head and a red cloth tied around his neck.

“Asked how Chiagozie was killed, Simon said that he saw when the Alfa lifted Chiagozie mid-air and made some incantations before dropping him to the ground,” the woman recalled in tears.

Reacting to the incident the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, alleged that the Alfa used the deceased for a ritual.

“Parents should be proactive and know the kind of people they leave their kids with.

“Parents and guardians shouldn’t allow the economic situation in the country to affect their vigilance and care towards their kids,” Owoseni stated.

My wife slept with her ex-husband on our matrimonial bed, man tells court.

A barber, Gbenga Akinade, on Friday at an Ibadan Grade C Customary Court, Agodi-Ibadan, secured the dissolution of his six-year-old marriage on grounds of infidelity.

Mr. Akinade told the court that his wife, Busayo, had sex with her former husband on his (Gbenga’s) matrimonial bed, adding that he could no longer tolerate her adulterous way.

He testified that he met the defendant when she was hawking herbal liquor (Agbo-jedi), and that both of them agreed to marry after few months of courtship.

“I did not know that she was a divorcee with two kids until she got pregnant for me. I began to suspect her adulterous ways after she gave birth to our second child.

“She used to go out for two or three days, leaving the children with neighbours,’’ he said.

“Her immoral affairs with her ex-husband came into open recently when I caught her having sex with the man on our matrimonial bed.

“I beat the hell out of her that day but allowed the man to go because unpleasant things might happen if I beat him.

“I decided for divorce in order to forget how I met her with her ex-husband on my bed,’’ he said.

The petitioner prayed the court to allow him to have the custody of his children.

“I promise to take good care of them,’’ he said.

The respondent, in her defence, said that her estranged husband was aware that she had two children before he met her.

She, however, was silent on the allegation that she had sex with her ex-husband on Mr. Akinade’s matrimonial bed.

Busayo added that Mr. Akinade regularly beat her.

She pleaded with the court to peacefully resolve the conflict.

“I am not ready to leave my matrimonial home and my children,’’ she said.

The president of the court, Mukaila Balogun, dissolved the marriage on the ground of lack of love.

“The opinion of the court is that there is no more love between the parties based on the testimonies of the couple,’’ he said.

Mr. Balogun ordered that two of the three children should be in the custody of their father while the last child should be with the mother.

The president of the court ordered the petitioner to be paying N4, 000 monthly to the respondent for the upkeep of the only child with her.

The Cable: Gender equality bill does not seek to erode the rights of men

Contrary to the belief that the gender equality bill seeks to violate religious laws, the legislation just promotes fairness and justice for both sexes and adherents of all religions in Nigeria.

Biodun Olujimi, a senator from Ekiti state, first presented  the bill in March 2016, but it was shot down by a faction of senators led by Ahmed Yerima from Zamfara state.

Yerima had said the bill was against the tenets of sharia law because it proposed to erode men’s rights by eliminating discrimination in areas of marriage, divorce, education, employment opportunities, ownership of property and inheritance.

He was supported by senators like Adamu Aliero (Kebbi state) and Emmanuel Bwacha (Taraba state).
Majority of the senators voted that the bill be trashed.

Senate President Bukola Saraki had assured Nigerians, who protested the non-passage of the bill, that it could be re-introduced after being reworked to pull out paragraphs that an all-male opposition described as offensive.

Olujimi reintroduced it to the senate five months later, precisely in September, rewording certain parts that were considered “offensive”.

Senator-Biodun-Olujimi

This time, with watered down contents, it scaled through second reading. Yet some people received it with angst. Sa’ad Abubakar, the sultan of Sokoto, rejected the bill.

The sultan, who is the president-general of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs(NSCIA), had rejected the bill on the premise that it negates the principles of Islam.

But it wasn’t only the Sultan opposed the bill, Muslim women under the body of federation of Muslim women association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) aligned with the sentiments of the monarch.

But the bill, long titled “A bill for an Act to Incorporate and enforce certain provisions of the United Nations Convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women, the Protocol of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights on the rights of women in Africa, and other matters connected therewith, 2016 (SB. 301)”, rather than violate Islamic laws, buttresses chapters 2 and 4 of the constitution, the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and the protocol to the African Charter on the Rights of Women in Africa.

Man who set own son ablaze banished from community

For killing his biological son, the Omu-Aran Traditional Council has banished a commercial motorist, Kehinde Akangbe, from the community.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, learnt that the directive for Mr. Akangbe, a.k.a. Surutu, to vacate the community within one week emanated from the council after its weekly meeting last Friday.

NAN reports that late last year, Sola, a 22-year-old wheelbarrow pusher, died from wounds he sustained from a fire allegedly set on him by his father.

The late Sola was accused of stealing an undisclosed amount of money from some road-side beggars in Omu-Aran when he was caught and handed over to his father.

The father was said to have allegedly taken his son to a nearby bush along Omu-Aran/Isanlu-Isin road, tied his hands and legs, and set him ablaze.

Sola, who was still alive when he was rescued, told his rescuers that his father was responsible for the act.

The father has since been on trial by the council for the crime.

Speaking on the development on Monday, Azeez Adeniyi, the spokesperson for the Omu-Aran Traditional Council, said Mr. Akangbe’s action was a bad precedence and contrary to the community’s laid down rules and regulations.

Mr. Adeniyi said the council could not come to terms with Kehinde’s actions and took the step to send a strong warning to other would-be criminals or offenders in the community.

He disclosed that the council had formally informed the Isin Traditional Council in Isanlu-Isin, where Mr. Akangbe hails from, about the vacation order.

Mr. Adeniyi said Mr. Akangbe had also been duly informed of the council’s directive, adding that failure to abide by the directive would attract further sanctions.

The traditional ruler of Omu-Aran, Charles Ibitoye, said the community would continue to extend its hands of hospitality and friendship to peace-loving and patriotic citizens, irrespective of ethno-religious or political affiliations.

He urged the people to imbibe unity and peaceful co-existence, and to shun acts capable of heating up the polity.

36 year old man rapes 11-year-old boy in Abuja

A 36-year-old man, Idris Ayuba, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old boy.

Ayuba is facing a charge of unnatural offence.

The prosecutor, Mr. Adeniyi Oyeyemi, told the court that one Kelechi Agba of ECWA church, Kogo, Bwari, reported the matter at the police station on November 29.

Man allowed to wear goat horns in his driver’s license.

An ordained Pagan priest finally has gotten the OK to sport goat horns in his Maine driver’s license photo.

Maine resident Phelan Moonsong said that unless he’s sleeping or bathing, he always wears his goat horns, which serve as his spiritual antennae and help him educate others about Paganism.

But Moonsong is questioning why he had to appeal his driver license’s photo to the state after explaining his religious beliefs to Bureau of Motor Vehicle staff. Plus, he adds, the horns didn’t obstruct his face.

The Maine Secretary of State’s office said the state was not familiar with his choice of headdress and had asked Moonsong for more information to review the issue. A spokeswoman said the state allowed the goat horns because Moonsong cited their religious purposes and also because they didn’t obstruct his face.

Maine motor vehicle staff can hold license photos for review if they have a concern about religious headdress.

Moonsong said after he applied for an updated driver’s license in August and explained his religion to a motor vehicles employee, he was told to appeal his photo to the Secretary of State’s office.

He said he provided more information to the Secretary of State’s office. But when he contacted the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in late November, he said he was told his ID was rejected — which was news to him.

Moonsong then filled out an application for legal assistance from the American Civil Liberties Union, which recently told him it was unable to take his case.

“What I was requesting should have been accepted according to what was written in statute and in guidelines,” he said.

It should be no different than a nun wearing a habit, or a Sikh wearing a Turban, Moonsong said.

But, he said, he was happy to receive his new driver’s license last week.

“Suspect who gave his name as one Alhaji Samaila Garuba, aka Bakassi, was earlier implicated by Ibrahim Adamu as the one that sold the AK-47 rifle to him.

“Garuba escaped when he got the information about the arrest of Ibrahim Adamu.

“His luck however ran out when intelligence information by the operatives paid off as he was trailed to a motor park situated at 9th Mile in Enugu early this morning, where he was nabbed after several efforts by him to escape.”

Amaraizu added that Garuba is currently helping the police in investigations into his “nefarious” activities.

The herdsman that implicated Garuba, Adamu, a 20-year-old man from Nasarawa State, was earlier arrested with an AK-47 assault rifle and 24 rounds of live ammunition in a bush in Affa community in the Udi area of Enugu State.

Until his arrest, Adamu resided at Hausa Quarters in the 9th Mile Area of Enugu State, but rears cattle in communities within the Udi environs.

Adamu had tried to evade arrest by firing several shots into the air, before the police took him into custody.

Many communities in Enugu State have recorded violent attacks by herdsmen, in which several persons have lost their lives.

A 22-year-old man is believed to be responsible for the fatal shootings of three of his family members before allegedly turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide at a hotel in Fairbanks, Alaska on Friday.

According to People, the Fairbanks Police Department’s initial investigation shows that McKay Hutton allegedly shot his mother, Linda Hutton, 54; wife, Emily McDonald, 22; and two-month-old son, Teagan Hutton, before killing himself. The motive for the killings is still under investigation at this time.

Man Allegedly Rapes Pregnant Woman While She Was In Labour

A woman in Hull, East Yorkshire has accused her boyfriend of raping her after she began going into labour in their bedroom at home.

According to the Daily Mail, the woman was allegedly on her hands and knees in order to try and relieve the pain from her contractions when her husband woke up and saw her. He then allegedly claimed he was “horny” before proceeding to rape her, even though she repeatedly asked him to stop and was screaming from the pain. After the attack occurred, the woman alleges that her partner “acted as if nothing happened” and offered to run her a bath.

A few hours later, she gave birth to their son at a hospital.

During the court proceedings on Wednesday, the woman’s lawyer Michael Greenlaugh went into further detail of what allegedly happened on the evening the rape occurred.

“She was in bed, naked as she normally would be,” he said. “In order to try and relieve the pressure and the pain of the contractions, she got onto all fours because she had been told that was a way of relieving the pain.”

The prosecutor went on to state that she was in this position when her boyfriend woke up, and declare he was aroused — to which she responded, “Are you serious?” He then allegedly got behind her and began to rape her, despite the fact she was “crying in pain from the contractions” and said to him “please don’t.”

After their child was born, the Daily Mail reports that the woman went to stay with her mother due to a heating problem at the couple’s home. When she returned to the home and the scene of the alleged attack, and saw that her boyfriend was acting in an “inappropriate way” with their child, she decided to report the incident to police.

Meanwhile, the woman’s boyfriend plans to fight her allegations in court, and claims he is not guilty and does not remember having intercourse with her.

Man Drags Woman Behind Car With Rope Around Her Neck

A man has been detained by police in northern Germany after he tied a rope around a young woman’s neck and dragged her down the street behind his car.

The small town of Hameln in Lower Saxony has been left in a state of shock after the crime, which occurred on Sunday evening.

“The brutality and contempt with which this crime was carried out is horrifying. Everyone in the town is shocked,” said town spokesperson Thomas Wahmes.

The exact motive for why the 38-year-old man tied a finger-thick length of rope around the woman’s neck before tying her to the tow-bar of his car and dragging her 250 metres along asphalt and cobbled roads, remains unclear.

“But we suspect that relationship problems were behind the crime,” said police spokesperson Jens Petersen.

Police say that the woman was only freed from her torment when the rope came loose.

“It is still unclear whether the rope broke or whether it came loose from the tow-bar,” said Petersen.

The 28-year-old woman was found lying on the pavement by passersby, among them a police officer on his way into work.

After receiving emergency care, the young woman was taken to hospital in Hanover by helicopter but remained in a coma on Monday morning, with doctors describing her condition as life threatening.
The man, who is from the nearby town of Bad Münder, later handed himself into police and admitted to the crime.

He did not however give a statement that would clear up the motive.

Both the assailant and the victim are German citizens of Kurdish heritage and belong to two larger families.

Fearing possible retribution, police have taken special precautions to protect the assailant’s family. As of Monday no such act of retribution had occurred.

Now the town of Hameln is trying to come to terms with the brutal crime.

“It is hard to believe that such an act of violence took place here, just a few streets away from the town hall,” said town spokesperson Thomas Wahmes.

Shakiru, popularly called Jarule, was found hanging from the ceiling of his 56, Oduduwa Street, Mushin home.

Relatives told newsmen that the father of two was being expected in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Saturday for the event. Shakiru was said to have sent a suicide message to his sister, Mariam, which reads: “I’m sorry. Forgive me.”

Mariam had reportedly insisted on his arriving early for the event on noticing his attitude of late. But when the message came in around 6:30pm, she did not read it immediately. When she did, she tried to reach some of his friends, but all to no avail. She then got their elder sister who lives near him to go and find out what was happening. His sister found his room locked from inside indicating that he was at home.

But when he did not respond to her knocks, she called Mariam, who asked her to look through the window from where she found his lifeless body dangling from the ceiling.

The late Shakiru also left some notes in his jotter, bordering on love and his life trajectory. They included “I’m Done”, “If you are reading this, it’s too late.” He also wrote phrases such as “I love you” on the pictures of his two children.

Some relatives described his death as embarrassing and unfortunate. They said he was an introvert who hardly picked their calls. It was learnt that his wife is about eight months pregnant. He was said to have proposed an abortion which his doctor warned against because “it was too late.”

His niece, who didn’t mention her name, believes he committed suicide over financial difficulties.

According to her, he became frustrated after the death of his mother three years ago.

It was learnt that the police are detaining four persons living with the late Shakiru.

Policeman Gets Life Sentence For Killing Man Over Cup Of Tea

An Egyptian court sentenced a policeman who killed a man over the price of a cup of tea to life in prison on Wednesday, a rare lengthy punishment for police violence in a country that rights activists say has a culture of impunity.

Public anger over allegations of police brutality has been bubbling over the past year, with several incidents spilling over into skirmishes and protests, five years after an uprising in which police officers were a major focus of discontent.

The policeman sentenced on Wednesday shot three people in a Cairo suburb after an argument over the price of a cup of tea, killing one of them and causing a riot. The sentence, issued after he was convicted of murder, can be appealed. Life sentences in Egypt normally run for 25 years.

Activists say police brutality is widespread in Egypt, enabled by a culture of impunity. The Interior Ministry says abuses are isolated and incidents are investigated.

Anger over perceived police excesses helped fuel the 2011 uprising that began on a Police Day holiday and ended the 30-year rule of autocratic President Hosni Mubarak. Since then, police have regained considerable powers and human rights groups say they have returned to their old ways.

In February, a policeman shot dead a driver in the street in an argument over a fare, prompting hundreds of people to protest outside the Cairo security directorate.

There were also riots in the northern, Suez Canal city of Ismailia and southern Nile city of Luxor over the authorities’ handling of at least three deaths in police custody in a single week in November last year.

Man Sues Casino For Giving Him Free Drinks After Being Arrested For Beating His Girlfriend

Pennsylvania man who spent four years in prison for beating his girlfriend at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem is suing the casino for allegedly serving him too many free drinks before the assault.

Nicholas Mullins, 31, is still on probation for the January 2012 assault. The casino contends Mullin alone is to blame for beating Caitlin Shields, of Pottsville, so badly that her brain swelled and she nearly died.

But Mullins claims he’s the long-term victim because he wound up in prison and can’t find a job as a result of his conviction —not to mention being kneed in the groin and having his nose broken during the argument, according to his attorney, Stuart Niemtzow.

“His life is the one that got ruined here,” Niemtzow said.

A 31-year-old Navy veteran, Mullins has claimed to have post-traumatic stress disorder and pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in June 2012. He contends the Sands should have known he drank to the point of having alcohol poisoning at another casino months before and that his girlfriend was also allowed to drink, even though Niemtzow contends Sands security knew she was on probation for drunken driving at the time.

Mullins is suing the Dram Shop Act, a law on the books in Pennsylvania and 37 other states. It holds that businesses selling alcohol to visibly intoxicated people can be held liable for injuries they suffer as a result. Mullinswas given at least 15 drinks before he and Shields returned to their room and got into a fight, Niemtzow said.

A Northampton County jury was picked to hear Mullins’ lawsuit Monday, before which Common Pleas Judge Paula Roscioli expressed “shock” at Mullins’ claim.

Shields “chooses not to file the suit against the Sands, but the man who ended up hitting her and causing her injuries, he wants to be compensated,” Roscioli said.

Mullins told police Shields attacked him after he lost $800, and contends he only slapped her in self-defense. But a doctor concluded Shields’ head trauma was consistent with being punched repeatedly, police said. She wasn’t criminally charged.

Man on Trial for Allegedly Raping Housewife

A taxi driver, Ikechukwu Onyia, 48, was on Monday arraigned before an Enugu High Court judge for allegedly raping another man’s wife.

Onyia was earlier brought before an Enugu South Magistrates’ Court for forcefully having the carnal advantage of another man’s wife.

He was subsequently granted bail and the case transferred to the high court for trial.

Narrating the incident, the accused said that on Sept. 20, 2012, his female friend of more than three years called him to pick her at the motor park with his cab and that he took her to his house.

He said, “After staying with me in my house, she told me her problem and I gave her some money, dropped her at a bus stop and went my way.”

He alleged that it was in the course of dropping her that the complainant showed her a man she identified as her cousin.

The accused said that he was surprised when the police invaded his house the following morning requesting him to follow them to Udi Police Station where the man she identified as her cousin accused him of raping his wife.

“I took them with my cab to the police station and the man was threatening me that I will not go scot free for sleeping with his wife.

Man Arrested For Raping, Impregnating 15 Year Old Stepdaughter

A 40-year-old man, Victor Emafolomi, has been detained by the police for allegedly raping his wife’s daughter, Keji.

It was learnt that the suspect was apprehended on Sunday by the police from the Agbado division after the mother of the victim reported the case.

Keji (pseudonym) lived with her mother and Emafolomi on Olukososi Street, Jafa, Agbado, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Emafolomi was said to have raped Keji on two occasions in October, threatening to kill her if she informed her mother.

It was gathered that the first time she was raped, Keji was at a shop where she was learning hairdressing within the community when her stepfather called her on the telephone to come home to prepare lunch for him.

While the teenager was immersed in the cooking, Emafolomi reportedly descended on her and dragged her into the bedroom.

She said, “That afternoon, he was drunk. He beat me up when I resisted. I explained to him that he was like a father to me, but he didn’t listen.  He used a pillow to cover my mouth and raped me. He said he would kill me if I told my mother about the rape.

“Two days after, he had sex with me again. That evening, he beat me up because I insisted that I would tell my mother when she came back from work. He went out and came back with two men after about 30 minutes. The men stared at me and left. He said they would be monitoring my movement and that if I reveal what he did to me, they would kill me.”

It was gathered that the suspect left home after the second encounter and did not return until about two weeks later.

“Before the incident, he had warned a boy called Owolabi to stay away from me because he didn’t want us to have a relationship,” Keji added.

Keji’s mother, Taiwo, said she was abreast of the time her daughter usually menstruated, said she became worried last Tuesday, October 24, when Keji did not do so.

“I took her to a clinic in our area and it was confirmed that she was pregnant. I begged her to tell me who impregnated her, but she refused,” Taiwo said.

After much pestering, Keji was said to have confided in her mother, who reportedly passed out afterwards.

“I was very shocked, but I could not fault the revelation because my husband had abandoned home for some days and there was no misunderstanding between us. I think it was because of what he did,” she added.

However, the suspect, who hails from Delta State, refuted the allegations, saying it was Owolabi, who impregnated Keji.

He said, “I am a driver. I left home because my wife is stubborn; she doesn’t take corrections. I left home to punish her so that she would change for better.

“I never had sex with her daughter and I didn’t know anything about the pregnancy. I don’t want it aborted. When she is delivered of the baby, we will carry out a DNA test on the baby.”

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ambibola Oyeyemi, said the case would be transferred to the command’s headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

“The victim confirmed that the suspect had carnal knowledge of her several times and the pregnancy test conducted on her was positive,” he added.

Too Much Money! This Man Spent $9 Million On A License Plate

For high-rolling drivers in the United Arab Emirates, no car is complete without a single-digit license plate.

The oil-rich country’s wealthy elite are willing to drop millions of dollars to get their hands on one.

Dubai property developer Balwinder Sahni wanted a highly coveted plate bearing the number 5. He wanted it so much, he bid 33 million dirhams ($9 million) for it at a government auction earlier this month.

It was one of the largest sums ever spent on a license plate, although still lower than the $14 million record set in 2008 by an Abu Dhabi businessman.

Sahni found that his big purchase also brought him a lot of attention. He says he can’t go out in public without people stopping him and asking to take a photo — and some aren’t impressed, accusing him of wasting his money.

“It’s hard, people giving comments without knowing the type of person I am,” Sahni told CNNMoney. He described himself as “a simple man.”

The single-digit plates now adorn two of his six Rolls Royce cars. (He also has two more of the luxury vehicles on order.)

It’s also not the first time Sahni has spent serious money on a license plate. He secured a No. 9 plate with a winning bid of 24.5 million dirhams ($6.7 million) at a government auction last year.

Since Dubai has no income tax, Sahni says he sees the hefty license plate purchases as his contribution to the public coffers. He says he believes the money will go to charity and toward improving the city’s infrastructure.

“I believe in giving back,” he said. “This city has given me a lot.”

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority declined to comment on how the proceeds from the license plate auctions are spent. The authority holds several a year. Bids can start in the millions of dirhams.

Man Begins Trekking From Lagos To Abuja To Support Sheriff

A trekker, Muhammed Isa, 32, has once again embarked on a walk from Lagos to Abuja in solidarity with the Ali-Modu Sheriff’s Peoples Democratic Party faction.

Isa, who started the walk from Berger footbridge along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, told newsmen before departing at about 9.12 a.m. that youths of the party support Sheriff as the Chairman.

“I am on solidarity trek from Lagos to Abuja to show my support and the support of youths to Sheriff as the authentic national Chairman of PDP,’’ he said.

The  internal leadership squabbles had factionalised PDP with Alhaji Ahmed Markafi leading the other.

Isa, a graduate of Psychology, claimed that the youth felt that Sheriff was the best person to manage the affairs of the party.

“I want to make something clear, Ali-Modu Sheriff is someone who is honest and listens to grassroots politicians; he has been working tirelessly to ensure that PDP regains its lost glory.

“This is the type of person we need as a leader to move the party forward,’’ he said.

The indigene of Borno said he hoped to finish the trek within 23 days.

“I have already planned my journey, I will be trekking from morning to evening, wherever dusk meets me, I look for an accommodation there.

“After morning prayers, I will resume trekking,’’ he said.

Asked about the security measures he has in place, Isa said he had none but believed God was with him.

“I believe with Allah on my side, no evil will befall me because I am not doing something that is bad or injurious to the country,’’ he said.

Isa also trekked when former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, conceded defeat on March 28, 2015 President Muhammadu Buhari.

Then, he trekked from the same Berger area of Lagos to Abuja with the reason that Jonathan made a great sacrifice for the unity of the country.

“The fact that I am a Muslim does not mean that I should not celebrate Jonathan for the sacrifice he made for this country by accepting defeat.’’

Isa, who expressed optimism that he would meet the President and present him an award then, however, said that “if I did not see him, I don’t care.

“If I die on the road, I still believe that I die for what is right,’’ he said during the trek that began on May 6.

Man jailed 10 years for raping 13-year-old hawker.

A Katsina State High Court in Malumfashi on Friday sentenced a 28-year-old farmer, Yusuf Umar, to 10 years imprisonment for raping 13-year-old hawker.

The trial judge, Justice Abbas Bawale, convicted Umar after he was found guilty of unlawfully having carnal knowledge of one Salima Nuhu on April 13, 2014.

Delivering judgment, Bawale said the prosecution had successfully established the charge beyond reasonable doubt as required by law.

The judge, however, said he had taken into the consideration the ill health of the convict, being a cancer patient in his judgment.

He said the punishment for the offence under section 283 of the penal code law attracted a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The judge said the lead prosecution Counsel, Mr. Aminu Garba, had led four witnesses and three exhibits, including the medical report on the victim.

He sentenced the convict to 10 years imprisonment without option of fine to serve as deterrent to others.

The convict, who was not represented by a counsel, defended himself during the trial.

The convict had lured the 13-year-old into his house on the pretext of buying mangos from her and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.

The case was first mentioned on Dec. 17, 2015

Man Beats Wife To Stupor Over Accusation Of Snoring

A 30-year- old, commercial motorcyclist, Tukur Paul on Friday beat his wife, Mrs Jennifer Paul to stupor over her accusation of snoring. It was the intervention by neighbours and passers-by that saved her from further attack.

One of the neigbhours Lawrence Oluwanishola, who witnessed the fight, told NAN that the couple who resides at Masaka, Nasarawa State, were fond of constituting nuisance to the environment through constant query.

According to him, it all started at about 9 p.m. on Thursday when neighbours ran outside at the shout of the wife who was seriously beaten by her husband.

“How on earth in this present modern world will a man beat up his wife over trivial issue? We learnt that the wife preventing the husband from sleeping just because he was snoring,” Oluwanishola said. He said that so many cases of divorce in the society could be prevented, if minor issues like this are promptly settled by couples.

“This is not a case of extra-marital affairs that usually lead to divorce, but a mere misunderstanding that could be controlled with little patience,’’ he said.

However, when NAN spoke with the husband, he said his wife prompted him to beat her after several warnings. “She prevented me from sleeping after having a hard day, I pleaded with her but refused,” he said. Paul said having gone through a hectic day, that he decided to have some rest but was prevented by his wife because he was snoring.

“What happened, I will say is the devils handiwork? I lost my motor bike which has been helping me to fend for the family.

“I immediately contacted the police who was able to help me get it back. I brought it back home and all these while my wife could not call to know where I was. I got home only for me to have some rest and after dozing off; my wife woke me up to tell me I was disturbing her with my snoring,” he said.

Paul who later apologised to his wife thanked the neighbours for the brotherly love they have extended to his family. The wife said the incident was due to communication gap, which was misinterpreted.

“I was angry because the husband left me and the children without telling us where he went. The couple had been living together for past nine years and the union is blessed with three children.

Man Catches Driver Having Sex With His Wife On Matrimonial Bed In Ogun.

A 60-year-old trailer driver, Lawal Bankole, was weekend, almost lynched by a security guard, Abdullahi Muhammed, at Iya Abiodun area, Ifo, Ogun State, after he was caught having sex with the latter’s wife, Tope, on their matrimonial bed.

The 45-year-old embattled man, an indigene of Kano State, said Bankole took advantage of his wife’s unstable mental condition to rape her.

According to the Punch, Muhammed had returned from a trip to Lagos Island only to meet Bankole on top of his wife.

Narrating the incident, Muhammed said, “I had returned from my trip when I met him on top of my wife. I had a cutlass and a knife at home and I wanted to kill him. But I had a rethink and I decided to hold him.

“But he tore my clothes and bit me. He fought me and took hold of the cutlass; I held him. We were fighting when people separated us and he escaped.

“However, I held on to his trousers, which contained his driving licence, some cash, phones and ATM cards. I used the items as my evidence. I reported the matter at the Ifo Police Division after which he was arrested.

“My wife has mental problem, which started during her first marriage. She had a surgery that time, but there was a complication which led to the problem. Her ex-husband rejected her, saying he could not live with a mentally-ill person.

“Her family had taken her to different prayer houses for solution to no avail before I came into the picture. I assisted them with money and they decided to hand her over to me in marriage.

“I made sure she stayed indoors always. All she does is to cook and wash my clothes. However, once in a month, she goes to visit her mother and returns. We have a child together, who is about two years old. Her condition is improving, but she is not totally sound yet.”

Reports say the two men could have killed each other but for the intervention of residents who separated them.

The wife, 24-year-old Tope, said the suspect gave her N200, adding that she never met the man until the day he had canal knowledge of her.

Tope, an indigene of Osun State, said, “I have never met the man before. That day, he entered our compound and asked if I wanted to eat and I said yes.

He gave me N200 and went away.

“He later returned and asked me to UnCloth and I did. He put me on the bed and had sex with me. I knew he wasn’t my husband, but I couldn’t shout or do anything. Then my husband entered and caught him.
“The two men started fighting. I ran downstairs to call people. Our neighbours separated them.”

Confirming the incident and arrest, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said, “The police have arrested the man and he has confessed to the crime.

“He took advantage of the woman’s mental condition and will be charged to court soon,” the PPRO stated.

“She loved the dildo more than me” says jealous boyfriend arrested for smashing ex-girlfriend’s sex toy

A jealous man appeared before a court for or breaking his ex-girlfriend’s sex toy in a fit of rage.
Rich Moore, 33, a builder from south east London got the hump with the toy after his seven year relationship with the woman ended. In a fit of anger while collecting his belongings from her house, he smashed up the vibrator along with a £200 pair of her sunglasses.
“I was fed up. I’ve gone to get my stuff and I came across the glasses and smashed them,” he told The Sun. “Then I found the dildo and I just ripped it up. It was one of those bullet ones. She loved the dildo more than me, that’s why I got the hump with it.

I bought it, it cost me £30.”
Moore’s ex, Sarah Mills, who he has a two-year-old daughter with, reported him to the police and he was charged with criminal damage. He admitted to the charges at Croydon Magistrates’ court.
“It’s all so petty and a waste of taxpayers’ money. It’s ridiculous if you think about it. I told the police I had broken the dildo and offered to pay for it to save us all going to court but they weren’t having it,” Moore said. “I wanted to go to court with a T-shirt saying ‘Save The Dildos’ but I decided it was probably best not to.”
Moore was released on conditional bail until October 19th.

Man’s penis amputated after being for four days in bottle he used as sex toy.

A man has had to have his penis amputated after using a bottle as a sex toy and getting it stuck for four days.

The 50-year-old man used a plastic bottle as a sex aid, according to a surgeon who operated on him, but was too embarrassed to get help.

Four days later he was suffering from necrosis – his penis was black and decaying – and had no choice but to go to hospital.

Dr Dennis Chirinos said the man will never have sex again as a result of the operation in Honduras.

He said he had repositioned the patient’s urethra so that he can urinate. He also warned that necrosis starts within four hours.

Dr Chirinos told HSH Television Digital: ‘It’s a strange case, it’s happened before, bit it’s still strange.

‘We had a 50-year-old patient, that, because he didn’t have a girlfriend or a wife, wanted to relieve his sexual frustration.

‘So he put his penis in a bottle and this caused the death and necrosis of the penis.

‘When he arrived four days later we had to amputate the penis completely because it was completely dead.

‘When you put your penis into a bottle it causes a constriction in the blood vessels of the penis and within four hours you can lose the penis.

‘This is an embarrassing emergency. The situation with this patient it that he didn’t get the medical attention in time and this caused the penis to begin to decay and die completely.

‘There was no choice but to completely remove the penis.

‘It wasn’t just the case here that it had died, it had gone completely black and had begun to decay. The necrosis was very severe.’

Dr Chirinos has taken the opportunity to remind men to keep their penis, particularly behind the foreskin, clean in order to prevent infection or diseases that could develop into cancer.

He added, according to La Prensa, that the penis should be cleaned three times a day and after sex to reduce the chances of problems arising.

Man Adopted A Free Puppy & Later Found Out It Was A Wolf

A free puppy may sound great in theory, but one Arizona man got more than he bargained for when his new pet behaved, um, rather interestingly. The young pup acted very nervously, needing constant companionship and peeing and pooping all over his owner’s car. That’s pretty run-of-the-mill for a puppy, but the dog also became quite the escape artist.

He’d dig under or jump over the fence to play with the neighbors’ German Shepherds, and when the owner installed a bigger barrier, the animal just chewed through it. Caught visiting next door, he didn’t respond to treats and avoided eye contact.

Soon the neighbors had enough, and brought the canine to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. Even before they entered the front door, their suspicions were confirmed. “I approached the couple and asked, ‘You know that isn’t a dog, right?'” Maureen O’Nell, the shelter’s former CEO, told The Dodo. “They responded, ‘we were wondering.'”

Neo is actually what’s called a “high content wolf dog,” meaning he’s an interbred mix of the two species, but his physical features, behavior and communication style align more closely with a wolf. Not only does Neo have a coarse coat and long legs, but he also acts exactly like pack animal. His urge to escape came from a natural need to find his family. Since many states restrict or ban wolf dog ownership, Neo needed a new home, and his owner agreed to give him up to special rescue center.

Evangelist & Church Worshippers Kill Man With Stones In Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the murder of a man, Philip Ugwu, 60, by suspected worshipers following a land dispute in Afikpo Local Government Area.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, George Okafor, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abakaliki on Monday that the incident occurred at Amebo-Ndebo village.

Mr. Okafor said that the matter was reported to the police on September 30 by the wife of the deceased, Abani Ugwu, adding that one Tochukwu Okoh, an evangelist, had been arrested in connection with the incident.
He said the deceased’s wife alleged that Mr. Okoh and three others attacked her husband with stones.

The officer also quoted the widow as saying that her husband who could not withstand the attack eventually became unconscious and was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead.
He said that his body had been deposited in a mortuary and would undergo autopsy.

The spokesperson said the divisional police officer for the area led a team of detectives and anti-crime patrol officers to the scene and arrested the suspect.

“We are currently on the trail of other suspects and I am sure that they will soon be arrested due to the useful information at our disposal,” he said.
“We assure the public that the matter will be investigated thoroughly while the culprits will be duly prosecuted,” he said.

NAN learnt that the victim, popularly called Boxer or Coach, had argued with the worshippers in a new generation church over the Attention of a fence to demarcate their lands.

“We heard Boxer’s wife screaming that her husband had been attacked by some worshippers and before we could get to the scene, he was lying unconscious.

“He was immediately rushed to the hospital but his wife identified one of the attackers still with a stone who was immediately apprehended and handed over to the police.

“The victim’s wife explained that he had purchased and built on the parcel of land even before the church came to lay claim over it,” a witness who preferred anonymity said.

The witness said that the matter had previously been reported to the traditional council during which the head pastor of the church, still at large, was invited.

Man Stabs Another For Refusing To Buy Him Beer

A Lagos court has slammed a N300, 000 bail on an unemployed man, 32-year-old Debo Adisa, for allegedly stabbing a man with a broken bottle at a hotel for refusing to buy him a beer. Adisa was released on bail on Tuesday by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court after he pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

The Magistrate, Mr A.A. Adesanya, who gave the ruling, said the accused should produce two sureties as part of the bail condition.

Adisa, whose address is unknown, is being tried for breach of the peace and assault. According to the prosecutor, Insp. George Nwosu, the accused committed the offences on Oct. 3 at Donmorgan Hotel, Dopemu, Lagos.

He said the accused assaulted Mr Temitope Segun by stabbing him with a broken bottle for refusing to buy him a beer. “The accused used a broken bottle to stab the complainant repeatedly all over his body.”

Nwosu said the complainant was in the hotel taking a drink when the accused approached him and ordered him to buy him a beer but he declined.

“The accused started hitting him. The complainant hit him back and the accused got angry, broke a bottle and started stabbing him. “Blood was gushing out of the complainant’s body and people in the hotel ran away while the management of the hotel quickly alerted the police to arrest him,” he said.

According to the prosecutor, the complainant is still receiving treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

32 Year Old Man Charged With Raping & Murdering His Girlfriend’s 10 Month Old Baby

A 32-year-old man in West Virginia was arrested on Monday after allegedly sexually assaulting his girlfriend’s 10-month-old infant daughter, who later died at a local hospital.

“It is with an extremely broken heart to announce that our sweet innocent baby girl’s fight is over,” the family wrote on a GoFundMe page on Wednesday. “She has succumbed to her extensive injuries.”

According to People, Benjamin Ryan Taylor has been accused of violently assaulting the infant, Emmaleigh Adkins, in the basement of his girlfriend’s home while everyone else was asleep. In a statement to police, the girl’s mother, Amanda Adkins, said that she had found her child naked, battered, and covered in blood early Monday morning, and immediately called 911 for help. The baby was then rushed to the hospital. In addition to her injuries from sexual assault, doctors stated that the 10-month-old also appeared to have been violently shaken and struck multiple times in the face.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered multiple articles of clothing and blankets covered in blood. The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports that Taylor told police that he had brought the baby with him downstairs to the laundry room and attempted to change her diaper, but that he “blacked out” afterwards and couldn’t remember anything else.

Taylor reportedly had blood on his chest and stomach when Adkins discovered him in the laundry room with her baby. When officers went to put him in handcuffs, he also “vigorously” tried to wipe something off his groin area, later discovered to be the baby’s blood.

“I’ve been here 25 years, and we’ve never encountered something of this nature,” Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs told the Charleston Gazette-Mail, voicing his horror over the monstrous assault.

At the time of the attack, three other children were reportedly staying in Adkins’ home, but police have confirmed all three of them are safe.

Taylor is currently being held on $2 million bond at the South Central Regional Jail. If convicted, he faces between 25 and 100 years in prison.

Man Thrown Off Plane For Saying ‘Inshallah’

A Muslim man in the United States was thrown off a plane for saying the Islamic phrase of “inshallah”, which means “God willing” in Arabic, a report says.

Khairuldeen Makhzoomi, a 26-year-old Berkeley graduate, was removed from a Southwest Airlines flight at Los Angeles International Airport in April after another passenger overheard him speaking Arabic on his mobile phone, The Independent reported on Thursday.

Shortly after sitting on his chair Makhzoomi called his uncle in Baghdad, Iraq, to tell him about his excitement of having a brief encounter with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Before ending the call, he used the Islamic phrase of “inshallah.” The man noticed a female passenger staring at him but he thought she was irritated because he spoke loudly.

But within two minutes one guy came with police officers, and told him to get off the plane, he told CNN. “I can’t believe how fast they were.”

An agent escorted him outside and questioned him why he spoke Arabic in “today’s political climate.”

“You need to be very honest with us with what you said about the martyrs. Tell us everything you know about the martyrs,” the agent said to him.

Makhzoomi said then dogs were brought in to sniff his luggage, and he was body-searched and his wallet was captured.

“The US is the land of freedom. People respect the rule of law. How could people be humiliated like this? That was the real shock,” he told The Independent.

“I lived under Saddam Hussein. I know what discrimination feels like,” he added.

The airline did not allow Makhzoomi to re-board the Oakland-bound plane.  He booked another flight with Delta.

Southwest Airlines spokeswoman Brandy King said in a statement to The Independent the passenger was investigated after he made “potentially threatening comments.”

“This is what islamophobia got this country into,” said Makhzoomi, “They discriminated against a student who came to this country as an Iraqi refugee to pursue his dreams.”

Paedophile Spared Jail After He Tells Judge He Wants To Start A Family

A paedophile who was caught with more than 137,000 child porn images on his laptop and phone has been spared jail because he wants to start a family.

Richard Arrowsmith, 41, was facing up to five years in prison but was let-off with a suspended sentence after telling a judge he wanted to become a father.

The married man, of Church Gresley, Derbyshire, was arrested after police received a tip off in February that an IP address linked to his Sky account was used to download depraved pictures.

Officers executed a warrant at his home and seized a computer, external hard drive, laptop, mobile
phone and USB sticks on April 19 this year.

A court heard a police computerised scanning system flagged up at least 10,000 indecent images and videos on the devices.

But a large number couldn’t be categorised due to the sheer amount of movies and pictures – including 4,336 videos and 137,000 images.

Arrowsmith pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images and videos of children when he appeared at Derby Crown Court yesterday.

But he was spared jail after a judge heard he was hoping to start a family with his wife who was still supporting him.

Sentencing Arrowsmith to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, Recorder Martin Butterworth, said: ‘You are 41-years-old, with no previous convictions and you pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

‘There are three charges against you in relation to the possession of indecent images of children.

‘I am taking into consideration your previous good character, you have a wife who supports you, a steady employment and your hopes to start a family in the near future.

‘These are not victimless crimes, they encourage serious abuse of sometimes very young children.

‘You were less than honest about the nature of the images.’

Arrowsmith was also ordered to pay £250 costs and carry out 160 hours of unpaid work as well as being made the subject of a curfew restricting him from leaving his house between 7pm and 5am.

He was also banned from working with children and was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register.

Man Arrested For Playing Porn On Giant Video Billboard

Indonesian police have arrested a man who they say has confessed to broadcasting a pornographic film onto a large electronic billboard on a busy road in Jakarta.

The 24-year-old IT worker, identified by his initials S.A.R., was apprehended in a police raid at his company offices on Tuesday, Senior Adjunct Commissioner Roberto Pasaribu, of the Jakarta Police Special Crimes Unit said.
The suspect told police he approached the video billboard last week and saw the login name and password for the computer system that controls it displayed on the screen.
According to police, the suspect took a photo of the information with his mobile phone. When he got back to his office, he logged into the computer system, accessed a porn site and started playing a film.
About five minutes of the sex film was shown on the billboard before people in the area cut off electricity to it.
During the unscheduled show, passersby took photos and shared videos on social media that trended under the hashtag #videotron.
The suspect told police he played the film unintentionally, Pasaribu said.
If convicted, the suspect could face up to seven years in prison.

Girl Agrees To Her Own Kidnap By Lover, As He Impregnates Her, Demands N1.5m From Parents

Things are happening. SS 1 Student? I give up! Soldiers attached to the 144 Battalion stationed at Ngwa High School, Aba, Abia State have arrested a 30-year-old man identified as Michael Alozie for allegedly conniving with one Nneoma (not real name), an SS.1 student, to fake her kidnap and demand a ransom from her parents.

Alozie, who claimed the student was his girlfriend, was arrested in a hideout at Chokoneze, Mbaise, in Imo State by a team of soldiers, who stormed the village after investigations revealed that he held the victim hostage in the area.

It was learnt that Alozie had earlier threatened the girl’s parents through repeated calls and text messages, demanding a ransom of N1.5m.

It gathered that during interrogation, Alozie claimed he planned to marry the student and blamed his friend, now at large, for sending threat messages to her parents, demanding ransom.

The suspect also allegedly impregnated the student and threatened to kill her if her parents failed to pay.

However, the parents who didn’t know that their daughter agreed to her own kidnap and got pregnant for the suspect, agreed to pay N1m as ransom.

While agreeing to pay the ransom, the parents alerted soldiers who traced the suspect to their hideout at Chokoneze, Mbaise, where the girl was also arrested.

A medical report made available to Southern City News revealed that the student was confirmed to be five months pregnant for her lover.

Things Strong Women Should NEVER Do For A Man

1. Change your appearance.

If your SO is a decent human being, they won’t ever force you to alter the way you look for their benefit. They should love you for you, and all of you. If your weight, hair, or style really bothers him, he’s clearly not with you for the right reasons. Any physical changes you make should be made because you want them, not for attention or for someone else.

2. Compromise your passions.

Absolutely no one should get in the way of your goals. It is your life, after all, and nobody else will regret leaving any dreams behind more than you. The decision to pass on a job opportunity or put an idea on hold might seem best at the moment, but the future is never guaranteed. Your partner should support your endeavors, and if he’s willing to come along for the ride, that’s just a bonus.

3. Wait for his approval.

A strong woman plays by her rules and doesn’t sit around for instructions. You should be assertive and go forward with your own decisions rather than seek validation from someone else. You’re grown enough to know what’s best for you.

4. Cancel already-set plans.

It’s different to reschedule when something important comes up, but it’s problematic when you drop what you’re doing just to be with him. Your friends and family should not be on the sideline and only brought in when he’s unavailable. You should never be on standby, and if he’s respectful, he won’t mind catching you another time.

5. Let him change who you are.

Don’t change who you are for anyone but yourself. And if you do decide to make any self-adjustments, they should be improvements that will better you. It’s possible that he’d be more interested if you do x, y, and z, but he wouldn’t genuinely like you for you. Never lose sight of who you are.

Man Batters His Wife In Lagos Over Missing N2,000

The police in Lagos State have launched a manhunt for a resident of Azeez Olaosebikan Street, Agege, Babatunde Igbara, after he allegedly battered his wife’s eyes.

The man reportedly rained punches on the 38-year-old woman, Gbemisola Igbara, in the presence of their four children until her eyes became swollen.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Babatunde had approached the victim on Monday morning, two days after he was released on bail from the Kirikiri prison, demanding if she took the N2,000 he kept in the room.

He was said to have accused her of stealing the money and resorted to violence when she refuted the allegation.

Our correspondent gathered that it took the intervention of the couple’s neighbours to restore order to the household while the incident was reported at the Abattoir Police Division.

Gbemisola told PUNCH Metro on Thursday that the 12-year-old marriage had been fraught with quarrels, adding that she decided to endure the assaults because of her children.

She said, “I was very weak that morning because of the stress I passed through to secure his bail from the prison over a land matter. He woke me up and asked if I took N2,000 from his clothes. I said no. When he continued to accuse me, I asked him why he thought I would steal his money when I spent over N20,000 and borrowed money from friends to facilitate his release.

“I told him to stop disturbing me. He then started punching me in the face and my eyes became swollen. My children begged him, but he refused. It was our neighbours who rescued me from him. I am fed up; but I don’t want to pack out because of my children,” she said.

Gbemisola explained that a similar incident happened about a year ago and she reported to the police at the Ile Epo division.

She said her husband’s mother prevailed on her to withdraw that case from the station.

“I can no longer bear the beating. He beats me to the point that I won’t be able to open my shop for days. I took a loan of N200,000 to start the business, but it has been difficult for me to repay it because of these troubles. I have reported to the police at the Abattoir division and they promised to get him arrested,” she added.

However, Babatunde, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone in Yoruba, denied assaulting his wife, saying she slipped during the altercation and got injured.

“I didn’t beat her. It was a lie. It was true that we had a misunderstanding that day but I never used my hands on her. She fell and hit her face on an object. I need to see you so that I can explain better. Our families have been trying to resolve it,” he said.

But some neighbours of the couple, who spoke with our correspondent, said they had advised Gbemisola to quit the relationship due to the violence.

One of them, Akeem Alabi, said, “Many people on our street know he has turned the woman to a punching bag. I decided to take her picture and post it on the internet after he beat her on Monday. I want rights activists and security agencies to come to her aid and ensure justice is served.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, had yet to reply to a text message sent to her phone on the incident as of press time.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim, who lived on 21 Road, K Close, FESTAC, was stabbed to death after winning a lot of money from a lottery.

Our correspondent gathered that Onyejekwe, to celebrate the winning, bought drinks for his friends and threw a party last Thursday and Friday.

It was learnt that on Friday evening, he was heard arguing with an unidentified person on the phone.

He allegedly told his friend he was going to see the man, but never returned.

His corpse was allegedly discovered the next day on one of the estates.

A resident, who did not want to be identified, said the chairman of the estate called the attention of residents to the corpse on Saturday.

He said, “I was sipping tea around 7am when I heard the chairman blowing a whistle. I thought it was strange, but my wife called my attention to the surging crowd on the estate.

“I went downstairs and saw the corpse on the road. Like everybody, I was alarmed. We could not tell how the corpse got there or who he was. He had multiple stab injuries in the head. We all resolved that the case should be reported at the FESTAC Police Station.”

It was learnt that some of the victim’s friends later identified him.

The corpse was said to have been deposited in a morgue, while the police arrested and detained the chairman of the estate and his secretary; they were later released.

A source told PUNCH Metro that the victim won a lottery few days to his death.

He said, “The man won a lot of money in a lottery and from last Thursday to Friday, he was asking his friends to drink at his expense.

“He was called on the phone that Friday evening and he went to meet a man. I suspect that a gang stabbed him and used an object to hit him in the head. There were bruises on his knees and it appeared they dragged him on the floor as well.

“When the police were removing his corpse, blood was dripping from his mouth and nostrils. He was murdered in cold blood.”

A friend of the victim, who did not identify himself, said his relative had visited the community.

“I can’t say why he was killed. Nobody knows. He just returned from a visit to the village,” he added.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.

She added that the police had already arrested two suspects in connection with the death.

She said, “The chairman of one of the estates reported that at about 7am, he woke up and saw the victim lying lifeless with injuries on his head and body. The corpse was deposited at the Isolo General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy. Two suspects, Suleiman Ahmed and Ibrahim Yusuf, were arrested and the case transferred to the SCIID for further investigation.”

Banker Knifed Wife To Death With 124 Blows After She Asked For Divorce

A banker killed his wife by stabbing her 124 times with a knife and an axe, a jury has heard.

Sanjay Nijhawan, 46, was struggling to cope after quitting his highly paid job with Barclays, a court heard. The crisis came to a head when his wife Sonita, 38, asked for a divorce, a jury at Guildford Crown Court heard.

Nijhawan stabbed her repeatedly in the head and neck before slitting her throat.

He was found sitting beside her body by worried family members who came to their luxury, gated
property in Weybridge, Surrey.

Opening the case, prosecutor Sally O’Neill said his defence was expected to be that he had an abnormality of mental function at the time “which substantially impaired his ability to form a rational judgement or exercise self control.”

The jury heard that after he was arrested by police, Nijhawan told officers that he had become “deranged” and had suffered a nervous breakdown.

Ms O’Neill said: “The number and nature of her cuts make it clear that she was the victim of a fatal and sustained attack.

“She had a very large number of cut and stab injuries to her neck and head.

“Underneath her body was an axe. He (Nijhawan) was sitting on the kitchen floor next to her body repeatedly stabbing himself to the legs with a small knife.

“Sonita had 124 significant injuries to her body including 40 cut and blunt force injuries to her head, of which 18 were to the back of the head, 11 to the side and 10 to the left hand side of her skull.

“These were all likely to be caused by an axe.

“There were 25 stab wounds to left side of her neck, more likely to have been caused by a knife. The defendant was immediately taken St George’s Hospital in Tooting.”

The cause of death was neck and head injuries, said the prosecuter.

Ms O’Neill said Nijhawan made Google searches before the killing on how to commit suicide and on how to identify the “soft parts of a female human skull.”

The jury was told that family relatives rushed to the mansion home after Nijhawan made bizarre phone calls and sent text messages about keys to the house.

Ms O’Neill said the husband had taken away his wife’s mobile phone, even though she was on call 24-7 as a director of two care homes run by her family.

Jurors heard he claimed he took away the phone so his wife could not tell family members about the divorce discussion before a family event on the upcoming weekend.

The court also heard that police seized a note from Nijhawan which he wrote in hospital and which stated: “I would like to issue a statement immediately offering my severe remorse.

“The mindless act has lost the life of a beautiful and amazing woman.

“I have failed in my duty as a son-in-law and a brother.”

Ms O’Neill told jurors: “It seems that in the preceding months leading up to this event Sanjay Nijhawan began to suffer from stress and anxiety partly as a result of his job and he was finding it very difficult to cope.

“He also felt under financial pressure because of the move to the house although it is not clear exactly why this was as both of the family were wealthy.”

The trial continues.

Dad Films Himself Eating Wife’s Placenta As Part Of Breakfast

A father has sparked uproar after posting a video of himself eating his wife’s placenta with an English fry-up breakfast a week after his baby boy was delivered .

Ross Watson, 32, even added pepper and brown sauce to the placenta, declaring that it was “edible and nutritious”.

In the video, Mr Watson sits down at a dining table with a raw piece of placenta on a plate, a plate of cooked placenta and a normal English breakfast plate of beans, sausages and toast.

“I’ve always said I’m going to eat my wife’s placenta,” he said in the clip. It’s definitely better cooked. Nine months in the cooking and about 10 minutes in the eating. Cheers!”

Watson, of Darlington, County Durham, later posted the clip to Facebook, saying it tasted like a bad steak as the video went viral and was viewed almost 20,000 times.

One responder posted a Hannibal Lector meme saying: “Dr Lector here, I approve this message.”

Another replied: “I’m no a fussy eater but just nooooo. You’re practically a cannibal.”

Man Wins Nobel Prize For Living As A Goat

A man lived like a goat in the Alps for three days. Researchers who dressed rats in woolly trousers to understand their sex lives. And scientists who investigated the personalities of rocks.

They shared a stage Thursday night, but they weren’t actors in the world’s weirdest pantomime.
Instead, they’re just some of the winners of the 2016 Ig Nobel Prize held at Harvard University.
“It’s like the weirdest f-ing thing that you’ll ever go to… it’s a collection of, like, actual Nobel Prize winners giving away prizes to real scientists for doing f’d-up things…it’s awesome,” Amanda Palmer, a performer and writer, was quoted as saying on the Ig Nobel website.
The spoof awards — which aren’t as famous as the real Nobels — are held annually and were inspired by the Annals of Improbable Research, an American science humor magazine that celebrates and honors the wackier inventions from the scientific community.
The main aim of the Ig Nobels is to make people “laugh, then think,” and incite the public’s interest in STEM, according to the Ig Nobel website.

Man Who Drowned 3-Year-Old Stepdaughter In Pool Jailed For 100 Years

A man who was caught on camera throwing his three-year-old stepdaughter into a swimming pool before leaving her to drown has been jailed for 100 years.

Harrowing CCTV footage shows the killer, identified only as Jose David N., repeatedly tossing the child into the water.

The little girl who could not swim is seen struggling to stay afloat as her stepfather stands by and watches. Other bathers as shown hastily exiting the pool, leaving the man to condemn the tot to a
horrific death.

The shocking surveillance footage was filmed in the city of Morelia, in the south-western Mexican state of Michoacan on August 12, 2015. It sparked outrage across South America when the video was made public.

The incident took place while the child’s mother was sleeping in a hotel room.

Jose David N. pleaded surprise after being told that the youngster had drowned, a court heard. But the CCTV footage was enough to convict him and see him jailed with no possibility of parole.

After deliberation, judges Juan Salvador Alonso Mejia, Ana Lilia Garcia Cardona and Noe Reyes Millan found him guilty of killing her.

Judge Garcia Cardona told the court how the stepfather even dragged the little girl’s hair and held her tiny body in such a position in the water that she was unable to breathe.

The defence had tried to suggest that the little girl had died outside the pool and not in the water, but this was rejected by the judges.

Man who battered wife’s niece declared wanted by police in Lagos

A man, identified as Rasak Alabi, has battered his wife’s niece, a 27-year-old beautician, Latifat Adeyemi, for allegedly turning on an air conditioner in their house in Solebo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

According to Punch, Alabi claimed that the air conditioner consumes excessive power, and allegedly hit the victim with a spanner in the face and flogged her with a piece of cable, which led to her admission in a private hospital.

It was gathered that the victim and her grandmother had been living in the house located on Ile Eye Street for the past 10 years.

The bungalow was reportedly built by Alabi’s wife.

It was learnt that Alabi, who had earlier separated from his wife for the past 20 years, moved into the building in 2015 after reconciling with his wife, a nurse, who is based in the United States of America.

According to the report, ever since Alabi moved into the house, there had been misunderstandings, which had led to the eviction of some relatives in the house.

Latifat pointed out that she was only staying in the house because she had to cater to her grandma.

She said, “My aunt is a nurse and she is based in the US. She put her mother in the house and asked me to cater for her. Grandma and I had been living in that house for over 10 years.

“Alfa (Alabi) and my aunt separated over 20 years ago. They never had a child together. But last year, they reconciled and the family said we needed a man in the house; so he moved into the house. He evicted our last born, but I stayed behind because of grandma.

“Last week Friday, when I returned from Surulere around 7pm, I saw that he had broken into my apartment and removed the AC there. He said the AC consumed too much power.

“I made a call to my uncle and I told him that I would be packing out of the house because I was fed up. As I turned around, he hit me in the eye severally with a spanner and as I ran off, he picked a cable piece and flogged me.”

She said she went to the Ipakodo Police Station to report the incident, adding that operatives who followed her to the house met the gate locked.

Latifat said the police turned back when they could not gain entrance.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, while confirming the incident, added that the suspect had been declared wanted by the police.

“The suspect is evading arrest, but we will get him,” she added.

Man Reportedly Abandons Wife in Hospital Over Unpaid N520,000 Bill

A mother of seven, Uzoamaka Onu, 39, has been abandoned by her husband at the New Mayor Hospital and Fertility Centre, Nkpor in Anambra over a bill of N520,000.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the woman had stayed in the hospital for four months following the non-payment of the bill.

Uzoamaka, a food vendor from Okpoto community in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi, told NAN that the husband had absconded and abandoned her to her fate.

She said that she had lived in the hospital for four months and every attempt to reach her husband had failed.

“My husband stopped visiting the hospital after I successfully underwent a surgery on my right breast,” Uzoamaka said.

She said she did not blame her husband for absconding because he had suffered a lot since 2013 when signs of cancer started manifesting.

“My husband sells rat poison and cannot afford the money to pay the balance and I think that is why he has run away. I am appealing to good spirited Nigerians to come to my aid and help me to get back home.

My problem started in 2013 when I started experiencing excruciating pain in my body, specifically in my lungs. I started visiting patent medicine stores for solution, but unfortunately that compounded my problems.

However, it was on the advice of some friends and family members that I decided to visit General Hospital, Abakiliki where I was diagnosed with breast cancer,” Uzoamaka said.

She said she had visited the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu and Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for solution.

Uzoamaka said that she also went to the New Mayor Hospital and Fertility Centre where she had a successful surgery, leading to outright removal of her right breast.

She said that N750,000 was the total amount by the hospital management for the surgery, with her family paying N230,000, leaving the outstanding balance.

The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Ben Ossai, confirmed the incident, describing Uzoamaka’s case as pathetic.

Ossai said that the woman’s right breast was in a deteriorating state and was emitting offensive odour due to the devastation the ailment had caused.

“We decided to perform a surgery on her to remove the affected breast,” he said.

Ossai said that Uzoamaka underwent a successful surgery and had long been discharged pending when her family would pay the balance of her medical bill.

“But for four months now, her husband has not visited and we suspected he has absconded,’’ he said.

Manchester United Players Grant Dying Man his Final Wish

A 73-year-old man died 45 minutes after his dying wish of meeting Manchester United players came true.

Paddy Lawler, a lifelong supporter of the Red Devils and a prostate cancer patient, had told his family he would love to meet with the United squad before his death.

Despite the request seeming like a long shot, Lawler’s granddaughter, Kayleigh, posted an appeal on Facebook for anyone to help get in touch with the club in order for his wish to be granted.

The post was seen by the cousin on United’s player, Jesse Lingard. The winger, alongside Marcus Rashford, Ashley Young and Timothy Fosu-Mensah, visited Lawler three days later and 45 minutes after the visit, he passed on.

Kayleigh’s original post had read, “Please, can everyone share? I’m trying to get a few of Manchester United players to come and visit my grand dad. We asked him the other day if he would like to do anything before his time comes and he said to meet the team. I’ve emailed the MUFC Foundation, but no reply yet!

“And not sure how long we have left with him, so I want to get this as a surprise. He’s a massive fan; even tried his hardest to keep his eyes open yesterday to watch the match, but, sadly, he missed it!

“I know he will be so gutted that he didn’t watch it. I’m sure he will be a very happy man if I can get his last wish

“Thank you to u all. Xxx”

Kayleigh, 27, later thanked the players on the same social media platform.

She described them as “incredibly selfless”.

She wrote, “Top lads, all four of them. Thanks so much to everyone who helped. Sure my grand dad’s over the moon.”

Man Accidentally Gets His Testicle Trapped In A Chair

After a knee injury, Claus Jørstad of Alta, Norway invested in a MARIUS Stool from IKEA to sit on while he showered — but that plan backfired big time. While sitting on the chair during a recent rinse, one of Jørstad’s testicles got stuck in a hole on the seat when the hot water caused them to expand.

“Sitting there and noticing the accident, I bent down to see what happened, I realized the little nutter has got stuck,” he told Daily Mail. He sat there so long, in fact, that the water turned cold. However, Jørstad thinks the freezing water was actually his saving grace. You see, the temperature drop caused his testicle to shrink again, which allowed him to safely free his little guy.

But after the incident, he decided to warn others about his experience by taking to Facebook and alerting IKEA in a post that has since gone viral. According to Daily Dot, Jørstad told IKEA, “Sitting there and noticing the accident, I bent down to see what the f*ck happened, I realized the little nutter has got stuck.” He also said, “The water turned cold by itself. So I started freezing. The water got cold. Even more cold than my mother-in-law’s smile when I married her daughter.”

Man Who Named Dog ‘Buhari’ Names Newborn Daughter ‘Aisha’

The man, Joe Fortemose ?Chinakwe, who named his dog after President Muhammadu Buhari, has sparked another social media ‘discourse’ as he named his newborn baby girl, Aisha.

The 30-year-old trader named his child Aisha, purportedly after the wife of the president on Sunday.

It would be recalled that for naming his dog Buhari, Chinakwe was arrested and charged to the Ota Magistrate Court 2, Ogun State by the police with conduct likely to cause breach of public peace, in a case with suit number MOT/617c/2016.

He was, however, freed from detention after he fulfilled his N50, 000 bail condition.

A Lagos based lawyer and human rights activist, Inibehe Effiong, made this disclosure on his Twitter handle.

While some persons are of the opinion that Chinakwe was just after cheap publicity, others say he is a controversial man who would stop at nothing to ‘look for trouble.’

?

The lawyer tweeted @InibeheEffiong: “Joachim Iroko Chinakwe, the man who named his dog ‘Buhari’ has done it again. He has just called to inform me that he has named his newly born baby/daughter after the wife of @NGRPresident.

He has given his 3-day-old baby two names; Mise and Aisha.

According to him, Mise is a native Delta name which means ‘I am doing it.’ He said that he also named his daughter Aisha, after the wife of @NGRPresident and that she will bear the two names concurrently.

Sincerely, I am short of words. I never for once contemplated this. As a matter of fact, I deliberately refused to ask Iroko what name he intended to give his daughter when he called last Friday, September 2 to intimate me that his wife had given birth.

I do not know what Nigerians will say about this. It is my prayer that this will not also end him in jail since some names seem to have special protection of the @PoliceNG.

Let us hope that this is not another conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace,” he tweeted.

“The stranger said he would ride on a motorcycle with the bags of rice, while my girl followed with the children on foot. But on reaching the purported restaurant, the owner said she never saw any one with bags of rice, neither did she admit knowing the children.

“They walked to Ijegun end of Satellite without any sight of the abductor. When we asked the children about him, they said that the abductor was not their father.”
Also speaking to a correspondent, an eyewitness, Ifeoma John, said that immediately the abductor left with the bags of rice, a man who claimed to be the biological father of the children, arrived, alleging that his children could have been hypnotised by the abductor.
He contacted policemen from Satellite Division, who took everyone involved to the station, from where the children were released to their parents.

MTN told them that they had no roles for them at the moment and didn’t want to renew their contracts immediately. So right now, everything is pending. It may not be unconnected with the fact that the giant telecommunication company is paying over three hundred billion Naira fine to the Nigerian Govt for not disconnecting subscribers when they were supposed to.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said a child between ages 12 and 14 detonated a bomb at a wedding late Saturday that killed 51 people and injured 69 others.

Erdogan said the Islamic State was behind the attack during a broadcast by NTV.

The blast occurred in the city of Gaziantep, about 60 miles north of the war-torn Syrian city of Aleppo. More than 200 people were packed into a street in the district of Sahinbey for the Kurdish wedding when the explosion occurred around 11 p.m.

The United States condemned the killing in the “strongest possible terms.”

“The perpetrators of this barbaric act cynically and cowardly targeted a wedding, killing dozens and leaving scores wounded,” National Security Council spokesman Ned Price said in a statement. “We stand with the people of Turkey as they defend their democracy in the face of all forms of terrorism.”

Mahmut Togrul, a lawmaker with the Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party, said the the bride and groom, Besna and Nurettin Akdogan, survived the attack and are in stable condition,” Togrul said.

“Many of the victims that died were children,” he added.

Man Arrested After Punching His 4-Year-Old Daughter To Death

A man in Minneapolis, Minnesota was charged with second-degree intentional murder on Tuesday after repeatedly punching his 4-month-old daughter to “quiet her” when she was crying. The child was later pronounced dead at a hospital as a result of her injuries.

According to The Star Tribune, Cory Morris, 21, told police that he was watching television when his daughter, Emersyn Morris, began making “baby talk,” and he carried her to the changing table in her bedroom. When she continued making noises, he punched her with a closed fist to get her to stop. CBS reports that he hit the child 15 times in the head and seven times in the chest.

Morris reportedly showed no signs of remorse over the murder and turned himself into police after the violence occurred. When authorities arrived at his home on Saturday, he was covered in blood and his right fist was swollen. Family members tell The Star Tribune that they had been trying to get Morris psychological help for at least a year, but that he’d never previously showed violent tendencies. Both they and the child’s mother, Jennifer Anderson, said they would not have left Emersyn under his care if they had believed he was capable of hurting her.

“We never thought he would hurt the baby,” his mother, Ginny Morris, said. “We would never allow him to be with the baby if that was the case. We were worried he was going to hurt himself, not the baby.”

On Monday, Anderson took to Facebook to voice her grief over losing her child.

Suspected Nigerian Thief Brutalized In Liberia

The brutalized man in the photos above is believed to be a Nigerian man accused of being part of a robbery gang that terrorized citizens in Monrovia, the Liberian capital. He was caught after an alleged botched robbery on Monday August 15th. A Liberian, Arrington Ballah, who put up the pics wrote;

“This guy is alleged to be a member of a robbery group that has a black four-door pickup moving around Monrovia. Unfortunately, on Monday, August 15,2016 they had an unsuccessful mission that led him to how you see him in this photo. Before I arrived on the scene, it was said that one of the guys managed to escape into the 72nd Community swamp (directly opposite the new health ministry in Congo Town with with the fire arm they use for operation. He was never found. However, the angry crowd managed to get this guy (believed to be a Nigerian National) and brutalized him as you can see. Thanks to the LNP for having this guy transferred to the Police Station and listening to my advice. The unidentified black car escaped and on lookers alleged that the car was taken off by on quote-un-quote white man. The young lady who was victimized, after being thrown out of the car, was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Hummmm! Liberia, Where are we now in terms of security?”

Why I Named My Dog ‘Buhari’ — Trader

The Police in Ogun State, yesterday, released unconditionally, the 30-year-old trader, Joe Fortemose  Chinakwe, who was arrested last Saturday for naming his pet dog ‘Buhari’.

The embattled trader, who was visibly angry after his three-day incarceration in police cell, was let off the hook around 5pm on Tuesday after the intervention of both the Serkin Hausa and President-General of non-indigenes in the state.
It was learned that the prompt intervention of the elders made the complainant to withdraw the case he reported against the trader at Sango-Ota division which was later transferred to Police headquarters at Eleweran.
However, police sources said both the complainant and suspect were made to sign an undertaking not
to cause any breach of peace again.
Speaking to Vanguard after this release, the trader, a father of two from the Niger Delta, who trades on second hand clothing lamented that he was made to suffer for no just cause.

Complainant from Niger Republic
Narrating his ordeal, Chinakwe said “It is annoying because the complainant is from Niger Republic and I am sure he is one of those illegal aliens in this country.  He connived with one Police Sergeant from the Northern part of Nigeria called Musa, who works at Sango Police division to humiliate me.  Worse still, the Divisional Police Officer there, did not help matters as he refused to entertain any plea from me after I was arrested that Saturday night. He simply ordered his men to throw me into the cell.”

Why dog was named Buhari
Continuing, he said “I did not commit any offence. I named my beloved pet dog Buhari, who is my hero. My admiration for Buhari started far back when he was a military Head of State. It continued till date that he is a civilian President. After reading his dogged fight against corruption, which is like a canker worm eating into the very existence of this country, I solely decided to rename my beloved dog which I called Buhari, after him. I did not know that I was committing an offence for admiring Buhari.

Ordeal with Police
“I was intimidated and thrown inside the cell with hardened criminals for about three days. While I was there, the complainant from Niger Republic and Sergeant Musa from the North kept on taunting me saying people from my part of the country are trouble makers and that after detaining me, they will throw me into prison where I will die unsung.
”Even when my wife came with our baby on her back, they stopped her from giving me food.  One of my friends that came to see me was also maltreated.
“While taking me to Eleweran the next day, they handcuffed and chained me together with that my friend. Fortunately, when we got to police headquarters, both the Commissioner of Police and other officers were angry with their colleagues at Sango-Ota.
”They were wondering loudly why I was brought to the headquarters over such a minor case. It’s very unfortunate that I have to be so humiliated in my own country because of the antics of a foreigner in connivance with my brother from the North.”

‘Zookeeper’ In The Viral Leopard Attack Video Says The Leopard Was Playing, Not Trying To Attack Him

Eduardo Serio, a ‘zookeeper’ at the Black Jaguar White Tiger Sanctuary in Mexico City was supposedly saved from a potential leopard attack by a tiger. A video of the dramatic incident shows Serio playing with a group of six lions around him oblivious to the danger behind as Dharma the leopard tries to sneak up on him. Aztlan the tiger sees the danger however and stops Dharma in its stride. But Eduardo, who rescues & trains the animals, says he was never in any danger
Here’s the thing. Eduardo doesn’t regard the sanctuary as a Zoo and says he’s more of a father to the wild animals. The sanctuary/foundation is a non profit organization whose aim is to rescue animals in need from circuses, breeding facilities, from private owners and providing the a safe home with good medical care. He shared a statement via his IG page and it read,

“There is an old video that is going viral all over the world where my boy Dharma is stalking me like he always does and Aztlan intercepted him. Again, we are all over the Planet. Great exposure. The only problem is that they called me a zoo keeper. I’m a father, but well. I rescued Dharma from a private owner that was feeding him Cow and condensed milk, so he was dying and had no hair when he arrived. I cured him. I taught him to respect his family members, including our Dog Chiquitin. I taught him to climb Trees since he was afraid of doing it. I Love my boy with the same intensity that he Loves me back. Super proud of him being a beautiful, healthy and Lovely 3 year old Leopard.”

Ogun State Trader Arrested For Naming Pet Dog ‘Buhari’

A 30-year-old trader named Joe Fortemose Chinakwe, has been arrested by the Ogun state police command for naming his pet dog ‘Buhari’. This was after after one of his neighbours, a man from Northern Nigeria, filed a complaint that Joe named his dog after his father, Alhaji Buhari. According to Vanguard, after the complaint was made at Sango Police Station, the trader was arrested, detained and would reportedly be arraigned in court today.

Efforts by the police to recover the dog, which they intended using as evidence failed. The trader, allegedly instructed his friends to secretly to kill the dog. Now, appeals by his friends and relations
for the police to grant him bail failed as the complainant and his kinsmen reportedly threatened to kill the trader if he was released on bail.

A relation to the suspect expressed fears that he may either be poisoned inside a police cell or thrown into jail. According to the person, “Chinakwe is a lover of dogs and he names them after things that tickle him. He bought this dog a year ago and named it Buhari.  Unfortunately, some Northerners, who dominate the vicinity where he resides misconstrued his intention and connived to take him up. The complainant then claimed it was derogatory because his father answers Buhari.”

The acting Police spokesman in Ogun State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, ASP, stated that indeed Joe bought a dog, but he inscribed Buhari on both sides of the dog’s body and paraded the dog around the area.

“One Mallam lodged a complaint and when our men got there, we found out that it was true. You know such thing can cause serious breach of the peace and ethnic or religious unrest. We are charging him to court for conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.”

Man Murders Wife’s Lover On Matrimonial Bed

A 32-year-old businessman, Ezekiel Igbokwe, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife’s lover, Victor Olatundun.

Igbokwe was said to have killed Olatundun after he caught him having sex with his wife at their matrimonial home. The suspect allegedly committed the offence at about 12am at Peace Lodge on Itura Street, Awa Ijebu, Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The suspect, who committed the crime on Wednesday, July 27, was arrested by the police the following day.

Igbokwe and his 28-year-old wife were among the 23 suspects paraded at the Ogun State Police Command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday, for various offences ranging from murder to illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Igbokwe, who said he was a businessman, explained that he had returned from his trip to Onitsha and met Victor on top of his wife on their matrimonial bed. He said he picked a machete in the toilet and cut the victim in the neck and hand.

Olatundun reportedly died on the way to the hospital. Igbokwe, who deals in electronics, said he was born in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.

He said, “I travelled to Onitsha on July 25, and when I came back on July 27, I met a man inside my room making love to my wife. Then we started fighting. The man was stronger than me. When I saw he could overpower me, I got a cutlass in my toilet and dealt him blows in the hand and neck. On the way to the hospital, the fuel in the car finished and he died.”

Igbokwe said he committed the crime due to anger, adding that he never meant to kill the victim. He claimed that he had never met Olatundun before, saying he also never suspected that his wife was having an extra-marital affair with anyone.

Punch Metro learnt that Igbokwe and his wife, Juliet, have three children aged nine, seven and five. Juliet, who sobbed intermittently, said her alleged lover had been pressurising her for a relationship for some time.

She explained that she had always told him she was married, but the victim never gave up until he ended up at their matrimonial home on that night. Juliet, who said she sold snuff, said Victor was her supplier and he pestered her for six months before she finally gave in.

She said she suspected that the deceased used a charm on her, as she could not explain how it all happened. She said, “He had been disturbing me that he wanted to marry me, but I said I was married.

“On the day of the incident, I really can’t say if he used a charm on me. All I know is that he called me that he wanted to see me and I told him not to come; he knew my house and when he came, I didn’t know what happened.

“He used to come and deliver snuff to me in the house. On the day of the incident, he told me he was coming from somewhere and that it was already late. He wanted to sleep in our place till the next day. He didn’t know that my husband was away. He tried to sleep with me, but later he didn’t.”

Juliet, who claimed that she got married to her husband in 2005, said the husband did not take good care of her and the children.
She said their marriage had been turbulent and fraught with fights and quarrels.

The mother of three said each time there was a fight, her husband would leave the house for months.

Man Beats Wife To Death For Denying Him Sex

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ court has ordered the remand of a 42-year-old man, Josiah Johnson, in prison custody for allegedly beating his wife to death.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 3 at Erio-Ekiti in Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

He said that the accused, on the said date, unlawfully caused the death of his wife, Mrs Julianah Johnson by beating her to death.

According to him, the husband wanted sexual intercourse with his wife, now deceased, but she declined saying she did not want to get pregnant after having seven children.

He told the court that the man, infuriated by his wife’s refusal, beat her to submission and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her, all of which led to her death.

Oriyomi said the offence contravened Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State. 2012.

The prosecutor, however, sought an adjournment of the matter as he still needed legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The plea of the accused was not taken because of the development while his counsel, Mr Tunde Falade, did not object to the request for a short adjournment pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.

Magistrate Taiwo Ajibade consequently remanded the accused in prison custody and adjourned the case to September 12.

Man Ran Over His Wife, Crushing Her Leg After Accusing Her Of Having An Affair With a Politician

Margaret Wambui, who has been detained at Nairobi Women’s Hospital for four months over unpaid bill, has accused her husband of running over her with a minibus after he accused her of infidelity.
The 37-year-old mother of four claims she was attacked by her husband, Stephen Gichuhi on February 18, this year.
Mr Gichuhi, then a bus driver plying the Wangige-Kiambu route asked her to accompany him to visit a neighbour but instead drove to the home of a politician he accused her of having a relationship with.
The politician confirmed to The Standard that the couple visited his house at around 7pm.
“They found me unpacking things from my car. I asked them if they needed any help. I thought they had come, just like many other constituents, looking for help. The man said the person they had come to see was not there. He then directed his wife to get into the matatu,”  the politician said.
Ms Wambui said they had a confrontation outside the politician’s home as her husband accused her of having an affair with the man and warned that he would not share her with other men while he was still alive and sped off.
“After a few metres, he opened the passenger door and violently pushed me out. I was not expecting this and clung desperately to the door which was swinging. Then I fell.”
When Wambui fell, Gichuhi stopped the bus, reversed and ran over her right leg, crushing it. He reversed again and drove over the leg a second time. An eyewitness, Julius Kimani was driving by and claims to have witnessed the incident.
“I was coming from the highway and had just branched into a feeder road. Then I saw a speeding matatu. The driver pulled over and started reversing as if he was looking for a way out as my vehicle was blocking the exit. I saw a woman clinging to the door of the matatu but then she fell.

The driver reversed and ran over the woman’s leg.”
Kimani jumped out of the vehicle screaming as Mr Gishuhi ran over his wife’s leg a second time.
“I ran towards the driver and who started attacking me with his car keys but with the help of my brother, Joseph Maina, we subdued him, grabbed the keys and forced him to sit in the back of the vehicle.”
While his brother took over the bus at the scene, Kimani asked Gichuhi if he had money to so they could take the victim to the hospital but he said he had no money.
“I reassured him not to worry as I would show him where the money would come from. As I slowed down at some bumps before entering Kikuyu Police Station, he opened the door and vanished,”
He drove to the nearest police station and two police officers accompanied them to Kikuyu Hospital. Wambui’s mother, Mary Nyambura, said she received the news the next day that her daughter had been admitted to the hospital.
Ms Nyambura claimed that police at Kikuyu Police Station have never recorded the incident in the Occurrence Book and issued an “irrelevant” P3 form not captured in their records. When she went to the police a few days later, she found the matatu had been released to Gichuhi who has never been arrested.
Ms Nyambura said her daughter was admitted in hospital for two months and re-admitted at Nairobi Women’s Hospital after the leg developed complications.
She said even after traffic police at the station wrote a report, they said the incident was an accident.
“When I demanded the OB number, they gave me the wrong one referenced 46/18/2016. And after going to several offices within the police station, I realised the OB was recorded in reference to six people who had been arrested for being drunk and causing disturbance,”  Nyambura said.
Kikuyu OCPD Brigen Kiptoo said the injury was as a result of a domestic violence, not an accident.
“Both the accused and the victim gave conflicting statements. There were only two people in the vehicle and this is a complicated case,” he said.
Meanwhile, the politician said the infidelity allegation was being used by his opponents to end his political career.

Dead Man Gets Two Obituaries Side by Side from Both His Wife and Girlfriend in the Same Newspaper

Leroy Bill Black, a 55-year-old New Jersey man died on Tuesday.

But due to dueling obituaries for him — one apparently submitted by his wife, the other apparently by his girlfriend — the whole thing has got people talking.

Both obituaries were published in The Press of Atlantic City, one on top of the other, and both included the same photo of the deceased, who lived in Egg Harbor Township.

The first obituary identifies the man as Leroy Bill Black and says he was survived by “his loving wife, Bearetta Harrison Black and his son, Jazz Black.” It says Black died at home on Aug. 2 surrounded by his family. No cause of death is given.

The second obituary identifies him as Leroy “Blast” Black and also says Black died at home — but makes no mention of any family being there. It says in addition to his son, Jazz, Black is survived by his siblings, other family, friends, and his “longtime girlfriend, Princess Hall.”

That obituary also says he was a fiberglass technician who died of lung cancer due to fiberglass exposure.

According to NBC News, neither the wife nor the girlfriend could be reached.

A viewing is set for Saturday afternoon and Black’s funeral is scheduled for Sunday at Greenidge Funeral Homes in Atlantic City. A staff member at Greenidge who did not identify herself told NBC News that she had received a phone call from a mourner “asking if there’s going to be a problem between the wife and the girlfriend” at the funeral.

Joseph Greenidge Jr., the funeral director at Greenidge Funeral Homes, told KYW Newsradio in Philadelphia it isn’t unheard of for there to be multiple obituaries written from different perspectives. But, he said, they took direction from Leroy’s wife regarding the funeral arrangements.

“We follow the state law, which is that there is one point of contact. And in this case, as in any case, it would be the spouse, and so we followed the direction of the spouse,” he told the station.

Woman Runs Mad After Husband Shaves Her Pubic Hair

A mother of three, simply identified as Remilekun, has ran mad after her husband, identified as Oriyomi, allegedly shaved her pubic hair and that of her head.

Vanguard learned that the couple, who have been living together since 2008 in Ikorodu area of Lagos, have three kids, but were yet to formalise their union.

According to a close family source, who spoke to Vanguard, the victim became “mentally ill after her husband reportedly shaved both the hairs on head and pubic area.

“They have been living together since 2008 without any formal wedding. They have three children.
The eldest of their children is seven years old. After she developed mental disorder, Oriyomi sent her out with their three children. Ever since, the children have been living with their grandmother. He neglected the children because their mother is not in a good state of mind.”

Vanguard gathered that the case was reported at Igbogbo Police Station, but was not documented since there was no proof that shaving her head and pubic area were responsible for her mental illness.

When contacted, the victim’s mother said she would want to consult with her husband’s family before speaking out.

Anambra Big Boy, Vincent Chidiebere, Nabbed with Drugs worth N1.78b

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Vincent Chidiebere, a 31yrs old guy in Anambra State for allegedly peddling hard drug worth N1.78 billion.

Addressing reporters in Onitsha on Tuesday, the Commander, Mr Sule Momodu said the suspect was nabbed in Awka, the state capital, on July 28 with methamphetamine weighing 25.2kg.

He said the arrest followed a tip-off that a shipment of the drug would pass through Anambra from Enugu to Lagos.

“Based on the information, we set up a team to search vehicles from a particular company. About 11am we intercepted a vehicle carrying the substance and nabbed the suspect.”

Mr. Momodu, who said the substance tested positive, described the drug as “one of the most potent illicit drugs in the world, which has a lot of destructive tendencies on the user.”

He someone under the influence of methamphetamine can be influenced to make disastrous decisions and can make criminals test the nation’s security to its limit.

The commander said besides the security threat posed by the users, the drug posed a health hazard.

He said chemicals used for the production were highly toxic and could cause permanent destruction to the eco-system.

“The waste from the drug is more toxic than the extracted substance. The people around where it is being produced are likely to be exposed to cancer and other incurable diseases, while children born in the area are likely to be deformed.”

NDLEA had discovered three methamphetamine laboratories at Nanka, Ozubulu and Obosi all in the South East, and the commander believed that more laboratories exist. They would track them.

He said Vincent Chidiebere will be charged to court according to law.

Malawi Orders Arrest Of Man Paid To Have Sex With Children

Malawian President Peter Mutharika ordered the arrest Tuesday of a man paid to have sex with more than 100 adolescent girls as part of a traditional ritual marking their passage to womanhood.

The order was issued after the man from the southern district of Nsanje gave a media interview confessing to have slept with the girls for a fee of between four and seven dollars paid by each of their families.

“I order police to immediately arrest Mr Eric Aniva, investigate him and take him to court forthwith for defilement cases,” Mutharika said in a statement.

This little-known local practice is performed in southern Malawi by men known as “hyenas” at the behest of a girl’s parents after her first menstruation.

The ritual is believed to train girls to become good wives and to protect them from disease, or misfortune could fall on their families or their village.

But it is blamed for spreading AIDS.

In a BBC interview broadcast last week, Aniva confessed to being infected with HIV and sleeping with virgin girls without using protection.

Aniva said that the girls were as young as 12.

“All these girls find pleasure in having me as their ‘hyena’,’ he said. “They actually are proud.”

Mutharika said Aniva should “be investigated for exposing the young girls to contracting HIV and further be charged accordingly.”

He also ordered an inquiry into the role of parents, saying “harmful cultural and traditional practices cannot be accepted.”

The sexual cleansing ritual by a “hyena” is also performed on bereaved widows in Nsanje district to exorcise villages of evil spirits or to prevent another death occurring.

Aniva said a “hyena” was selected by the community based on good morals and that custom did not allow him to use condoms.

Malawi, which has one of the highest HIV infections in the world, criminalises sex with a person under the age of 16.
