He explained that Solape died at the hospital where she was rushed to.

“An airman and an airwoman were involved. They had a love relationship which resulted in the shooting. We do not yet know what transpired between them,” PUNCH quoted him as saying.

“She was initially rushed to NAF hospital, but when it was beyond their control, she was transferred to the state hospital where she died. The body has been recovered to our base now.

Disquiet In Otukpo, David Mark’s Hometown Over Buhari’s Victory

There’s currently anxiety in Otukpo, the ancestral headquarters of Idoma land following the victory of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the APC in the just concluded presidential election.

Reporters observed that Buhari’s victory in Benue was courtesy of votes from the Tivs speaking parts of the state.

All the nine local government areas in the Benue south, famously known as Zone C voted overwhelmingly for the PDP candidate.

Their reason for backing Jonathan for second term might not be unconnected with the fact that their political leader and current Senate President, David Mark had urged them to vote for the incumbent so they could create the long awaited Apa State.

He had also informed them to vote for him so they could still remain number three citizen in the nation.

However, the Idoma people were shocked after results from other states put Buhari ahead of their preferred candidate.

Similarly, the national assembly election showed that the APC won more seats than the PDP.

With the emergence of Buhari as the president elect, the leadership stool will surely leave the zone and obviously Mark would step aside as senate president.

In fact, as at 8pm on Tuesday when it became obvious that Jonathan was going to lose, many Idoma natives began to express open regret on social media for falling into Mark’s trap.

Our reporter learnt that GRA Otukpo, where Mark’s residence is located was deserted when Jonathan put a call across to Buhari to concede defeat.

As at 10 pm on Tuesday, major hot spots in the place literarily became graveyards as only few people could be seen on the streets.

However, some ardent supporters of PDP who spoke with reporters said Mark remained their hero despite the outcome of the election.
