New Lead To Possible Killers Of Abducted Colonel Emerges

A new lead has emerged about the possible abductors and killers of late Colonel Smaila Inusa, whose body was discovered on Tuesday, three days after he was kidnapped by unknown assailants.

According to a military intelligence source, the authorities are exploring a new possible lead to the death of Inusa, who was earlier thought to have been kidnapped for ransom.

The source noted that the shocking discovery that the senior officer was killed by his abductors has created suspicion that it might have been an insider job, as much as the external hit.

According to the military insiders, external kidnap and murder of an Army officer would have been too risky a mission without an insider collaboration.

Also, the fact that the killers did not ask for ransom rankled the authorities to start expanding the scope of their search as well as consider a possible inside connection.

“The Colonel was finally confirmed murdered on the day he was abducted, apparently the killers are not after ransom, the murderers must have other reason for their action. The general public are kindly requested on this unfortunate incidence with any information that can assist in tracking them,” a message noted.

The Nigerian Army had on announced that late Colonel Inusa who was kidnapped on Saturday night, March 26, 2016, was found dead at about 6.00pm on Tuesday.

The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman who confirmed the development said that preliminary investigation revealed that most likely the late senior officer was killed same day he was kidnapped by his abductors.

“This is because the body was found already decomposing around Ajyaita village off Eastern Bypass Kaduna, Kaduna State,” Usman noted.

Woman Strangles Her Ex Lover’s 10-Year-Old Daughter To Death With A Pair Of Tights In Revenge For Being Dumped

This is why we should be careful who we date. What an evil woman!

A Russian beauty queen contestant strangled the 10-year-old daughter of her ex lover with a pair of tights in revenge for being dumped.

Ekaterina Poberezhnaya, 23, was found guilty of murdering the girl, called Nastya, in the small village of Lazo, in the Primorsky Krai region of south east Russia.  She was later sentenced to 12 years in prison for the shocking crime.

A court heard how Poberezhnaya was heartbroken after her lover decided to end their relationship in
order to patch things up with his family.

Succumbed by rage the scorned woman, who was an entrant in the 2012 beauty pageant ‘Miss Dalnerechensk’, seized her moment when the girl came round to her apartment.

Once the little girl was in her home she strangled her with a pair of tights the youngster had brought with her.
Poberezhnaya plead not guilty to charges and even appealed for her lengthy sentence to be reduced.

However, the court dismissed her appeal and she now faces 12 hard years in a Russian jail.

Children are revered in Russian culture and anyone who abuses them automatically becomes marked by other convicts inside as the lowest of the low.

Penal experts believe it is likely that Poberezhnaya will have to serve most or all of her incarceration in solitary confinement for her own safety.

Granddad Describes How He Drowned Grandson In Bath Tub

A man accused of murdering his own grandson today told how he drowned the youngster in a bath – but he continues to plead not guilty to murder.
Stewart Greene, 65, killed Alex Robinson, nine, while his mum was out shopping for a Christmas turkey.

Giving evidence in court he apologised to his daughter Joanne, ex-wife Andrea and Alex’s dad John.
Greene said: “I’m so sorry to Joanne and Andrea and to John Robinson.

“The truth is I killed Alex. I thought about it the night before. “I walked Alex into the bathroom and put him in the bath. I’d run the bath before I called him. Two taps running quicker.

“I think at the time he asked me if I was going to wash myself. “I picked him up and put him in the bath and drowned him. He was struggling. He struggled until I drowned him.”

He told the jury that after he realised Alex was dead he had a cigarette and sat down.
He admitted that he did nothing to help Joanne and Andrea when they made desperate attempts at CPR.
Greene was discharged from a psychiatric unit against his will two weeks before the killing on December 23 last year.
Lincoln Crown Court heard he later told a psychiatrist “I’m just an evil murdering b*****d who killed his grandson”.
During cross-examination Michael Evans QC asked Greene: “You knew you wanted to kill Alex. Is that right?”
Greene replied: “Yes… I knew I was killing him. Yes. I killed Alex.
Greene then added: “I don’t think I can say any more. I’ve admitted the offence. “I’ve done what I’ve done.”
The trial continues.

Four Agbara Bank Robbers Arrested, Admit Stealing N28m

Four suspected members of the armed robbery gang which unleashed terror on commercial banks in the Agbara area of Ogun State last Thursday have confessed to carting away N28m during the operation.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspected gang members were arrested by the police in the Sapele area of Delta State.

Their correspondent learnt from a reliable police source that the suspects confessed in their statements that they were also responsible for the killings of seven operatives of the Department of
State Service on September 16, 2015.
It was learnt that the suspects, who were picked up by the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, engaged the policemen in a shootout during which another policeman was killed.

The robbers, numbering 40, had stormed four commercial banks in the Agbara area of Ogun State killing a corporal identified as Kadiri Aliyu, and making away with millions of naira from Zenith Bank.

It had also been reported that the robbers, who were clad in police and military uniforms, gained entry into the bank after blowing up the bank’s rotor doors with dynamite, sacking policemen inside the Armoured Personnel Carrier in the area, during which Aliyu was shot dead.

The source told PUNCH Metro on Sunday that the gang leader – identified as Kelly Fotor – told the police that the robbery was carried out by a combination of two gangs from Lagos and Delta states.

He said Fotor told the police that after the Thursday robbery, he divided the N28m between the two gangs before returning to his base in Sapele.

He said:

“The gang leader told the police that he and his boys made away with about N28m from the Agbara bank robbery. He said he had given N14m to the other gang he worked with in Ishawo, Ikorodu area of Lagos, before travelling to Sapele, Delta State, on Friday.

The operatives tracked down the 35-year-old and three of his gang members on Saturday and he engaged the policemen in a heavy gunfire. The four robbers were eventually arrested after sustaining bullet injuries.

The others actually escaped and they are currently hiding in Ondo and Delta states. One policeman was also shot dead in the shootout. The four suspects have started confessing. They are currently in a cell in Abuja as investigation is ongoing.”

The source added that the suspects, who admitted to the murder of the DSS operatives, said they buried the operatives in a vandals’ camp in the Ishawo area of Ikorodu. He said:

“Fotor also narrated how his gang killed the DSS operatives in September. He said that the gang never intended to kill them. But as they were asking the operatives questions after abducting them, one of the vandals who had become drunk, came in and interrupted the interview, opening fire on the operatives.

The suspect also described where the operatives were buried inside the vandals’ camp in Ishawo. But investigation is also ongoing, so other details are kept secret.”

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olabisi Kolawole, could not be reached for comments as her phone rang out.

The Ogun State Police spokesperson, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrest. He added that weapons were recovered from the suspects as efforts were on to get other members of the gang.

Aunt Creates A Fake Facebook Profile To Check On Her Niece And Ultimately Saves Her Own Life

An Alabama aunt thought her 19-year-old niece was spending too much time on Facebook recently, so she created a fake profile and befriended her to see what she was up to online. But as AL.com reports, the answer she got was more troubling than anything she could have imagined.
The niece is Marissa Williams. Williams’ aunt was puzzled by the constant stream of strangers always at her house, so she created a profile posing as a boy named Tre ‘Topdog’ Ellis and befriended her niece and that may have ultimately saved her life.
On the first day the two talked online, Williams invited Ellis over to her house to get drunk with her. She sent the fictitious boy her phone number and home address, and said she would have sex with him if he agreed to pay her $50 cell phone bill. As troubling as that is, things were about to take a much darker turn.

Just a few days later, Williams told Ellis that she hated her family and wanted to get out of Alabama. She asked Ellis to come kidnap her and said he should shoot her aunt if she tried to stop him.

As time went on, the conversations grew increasingly unnerving. Williams told Ellis, who to her was a strange man she had never met, how to break into her aunt’s room so he could kill her aunt and her aunt’s fiancée. Williams asked Ellis if he could leave his car parked outside during the break-in so she could pack her belongings into it while he killed her entire family.

After hearing the plan, Williams’ aunt decided she’d had enough and called the Sheriff’s Department. Williams admitted to the plan, but says she did not actually mean for anyone to be killed. Nevertheless, she was arrested and charged with the solicitation of murder. She is being held on $30,000 bond.

Brothers Behead Sister And Parade Her Head In The Name Of Honored Killing

2 Indian brothers decapitated their teenage sister and paraded her severed head through their village because they disapproved of her ‘romantic relationship’ with one of their cousins.

Several people watched in horror as Phool Jehan, 17, was dragged out of her house, severely beaten and beheaded by her 2 brothers this past Monday. They however, did not tell the police what had happened.

The crime was only later reported by a local security guard, one officer explained.

According to Indian Times, Police have been unable to find the two brothers, named Nanhe and Gul Hasan, whose ages are not known. After killing their sister, they left her body on the street as they roamed around the north-Indian village with her head.

According to reports, they shouted: ‘This is what happens as punishment for having an affair.’

Honour killings are common across India, but such brutal slayings are extremely rare. While the brothers are on the run, police have detained Jehan’s cousin to question him, said another police officer.

Ogun Police Issue Shoot-At-Sight Order Against Ritualists, Human Parts Dealers

Police in Ogun state will henceforth shoot armed cultists and “ritualists” at sight, the state command announced Thursday.

The commissioner of police, Abdulmajid Ali, gave the order shortly after parading 23 suspected criminals at the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, saying that the command will not tolerate ?the rising cases of cultism and ritual killings.

He said the shoot-at-sight order will not amount to extra-judicial killing because the intention of armed criminals is either to kill or maim.

Mr. Alli said police would soon raid various campuses to apprehend suspected cult members, adding that the command had identified their abode and would get rid of them at all cost.

At the briefing, the commissioner announced that the suspects paraded were arrested in connection with murder, kidnapping, cultism and unlawful possession of human skull while several weapons, including guns, cutlasses, assorted charms and expended cartridges were recovered from them.

On the killing of Iyaloja of Ijebuland, Sadiat Elewuju, who was murdered on July 8, the police commissioner disclosed that one person had been charged to court for the killing but declined to reveal the identity of the suspect.

“Our investigation so far confirmed that he perpetrated the act? but tried to hide under a cover that six people were seen.

“We didn’t want to parade him because it’s a case that we have already charged to court. From all available information and the investigation conducted, the boy is a very close person to the woman. He was the person that saw the Iyaloja last, ?he was also the one that took care of her,” the police boss said.

16 Year Old Girl Who Was Stabbed At Jerusalem Gay Pride March Dies From Her Wounds

Israeli high school student, Shira Banki, 16, (left and the one in green with the knife in her back) was one of six people stabbed by ultra-orthodox jew Yishai Shlissel during a gay pride march in Jerusalem on Thursday July 30th. She died today at Hadassah hospital from injuries sustained during the attack. She wasn’t gay…she went to the march in support of her LGBT friends. Sad…

In a statement her family said:
‘Our magical Shira was murdered because she was a happy 16-year-old – full of life and love – who came to express her support for her friends’ rights to live as they choose. For no good reason and because of evil, stupidity and negligence, the life of our beautiful flower was cut short. Bad things happen to good people, and a very bad thing happened to our amazing girl.
‘The family expresses hope for a less hatred and more tolerance.’ The family requests the public respect their privacy as they grieve. We won’t permit the terrible murderer to challenge the basic values on which Israeli society is built.’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement after sending his condolences to the family.
‘We reject with disgust any attempt to impose hatred and violence among us and will bring the murderer to justice. Shira was murdered because she bravely supported the principle that everyone has the right to live their lives respectfully and with security.’
\Candlelight vigils held tonight in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem in memory of Shira.
Of the remaining five people wounded in the attack two are still in hospital in a serious condition, while three others have been released from hospital.

Two Zimbabweans Appear In Court For Helping American Dentist Kill Cecil The Lion

Two Zimbabweans accused of helping an American dentist hunt Cecil the lion have appeared in court amid growing anger over the protected animal’s slaughter. Professional hunter Theo Bronkhorst (right) and local landowner Honest Ndlovu (left) allegedly assisted Dr. Walter Palmer, who has since received death threats, catch and kill the lion.

Dr Palmer claims he had trusted his local guides to meet legal guidelines on his trip to Africa, during which he shot Cecil with a crossbow on July 1 before skinning and beheading him. Continue…

The two Zimbabwean men appeared at Hwange magistrates’ court charged with poaching, about 435 miles west of the capital Harare and were both released on bail of $1,000.

The Zimbabwean prosecutors’ documents accuse Bronkhorst of failing to ‘prevent an unlawful hunt’ and documents say Bronkhorst was supervising while his client, Palmer, shot the animal. The court documents made no mention of Palmer as a suspect.

But Americans while reacting to the killing of the loved lion stormed Dr Palmer’s working place and home leaving different messages there for him. Dr Palmer’s whereabout at the moment is unknown according to reports but he has issued an apology letter which a lot of people say is not enough. See the protests in photos below;

Police Arrest Fed Poly Oko Graduate For Beheading Friend in A’Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command on Wednesday arrested a 32-year-old graduate of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, Mr. Stephen Onona, in connection with the death of his close friend and employee, Mr. Daniel Solomon.

Onona is from Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State while Solomon was from Uruan LGA of Akwa Ibom State.

Onona was said to be an employee of Africana First Publisher, Uyo, where he worked for four years.

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Mr. Gabriel Achong, said Onona invited
Solomon, who worked for him as a professional barber, to his house over a misunderstanding bordering on about N1m.

He stated that as soon as they had discussed the issue, Solomon went to bed while Onona took up a machete and cut off Solomon’s head before cutting other parts of the body in pieces.

The CP added:

“After cutting off Solomon’s head, he removed his two arms and laps, put them into his bag and threw them somewhere. He put the remaining parts of the body in ‘Ghana Must Go’ and dumped them in the gutter. He put Solomon’s head in the dustbin and dumped it in the bush.

When I got the news on Tuesday morning that somebody was killed and thrown into a gutter, I swung into action. I did every possible to get him arrested. I had to locate the owner of the house where the murderer lived.

We got the landlord and asked whom he gave the house to; and he disclosed the guy’s identity to us. And with the help of tracking device, we called the gentleman (Onona), and he told us that he was in Onitsha.

We tracked his number and in the evening on Tuesday, he was arrested in a street here in Uyo. He led the police to where he dumped all the body parts of Solomon. He has some friends and we used these friends number to get to him.”

Achong stated that when he reported the matter to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, he said the IGP wondered if Onona was of a sound mind.

He added that in the course of his interaction with Onona, he discovered that the suspect was of a sound mind, saying nothing was wrong with him.

Onona admitted to committing the crime, saying he was provoked because Solomon could not tell him how he had spent the N750,000  he gave him to set up the barbing business.

He said:

“I am 32 years old and working here with Africana First Publisher. I am in the police net because of my boy, Bassey Solomon. He took my money, N750,000, which I obtained from a bank for him to set up barbing business.

The barbing saloon was at 55, Itu Road. I am angry with him to the extent of carrying machete and killing him.”

Incredible! Man Cuts Off Wife’s Hand Over Adultery Allegations

Man, identified as Jacob Nwachukwu from Abala in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, has cut off his wife’s left hand over allegation of infidelity. The man’s wife, Mrs Nwadiokeonu Nwachukwu, is now at a hospital in Aba, while her severed hand had been taken to her husband’s village at Abala for burial.

The incident happened, Monday, at Ogbor Hill Area of Aba, where the woman had lived for years, while the husband lived at their Abala village.

A female co-tenant of Mrs Nwachukwu, who craved anonymity, told Vanguard that the couple had lived in the city for years before the husband lost his job and had to relocate to the village, leaving his wife, a trader, in the city.

She said: “The couple had always quarrelled any time the man visited his wife in the city, to the extent that all the tenants are aware and intervened in their quarrels.”

The man was said to have visited the wife on the day and during their usual quarrel, brought out a machete, cut off the wife’s hand and left with it to the village, while neighbours rushed her to the hospital.

The suspected lover of the woman is said to be on the run, while her landlord reported the incident to a police station close to the hospital along Ogbor Hill, where the woman is currently on admission.

Area Commander, Aba Police Command, Mr. Peter Wabara, in a response to a text message, said the incident was yet to be reported to him.

However, a police officer at Ogbor Hill Police Station, confirmed the incident and said investigation into the matter had commenced.

38 People Dead: Boko Haram Members On The Run, Chadian Forces In Pursuit

The Chadian army has launched a “major operation” to flush out Boko Haram jihadists from islands in Lake Chad, sparking violent clashes on Monday between soldiers and the Islamic State-affiliated group. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will, meanwhile, travel to neighbouring Cameroon on Wednesday for talks on combating the regional threat posed by the extremist group, whose six-year insurgency has claimed 13,000 lives and caused about 1.5 million people to flee their homes.

On Monday, “violent clashes” raged near Baga Sola, one of the main towns in the shallow, marshy waters of Lake Chad, a Chadian security source told AFP. He added that Chadian forces had earlier “intercepted fleeing Boko Haram elements” around 20 kilometres (12 miles) to the southeast.

The four countries bordering the lake — Chad, Cameroon,Nigeria and Niger — set up a military coalition against Boko Haram early this year headquartered in the Chadian capital N’Djamena. Chadian forces have “around 1,000 men positioned to occupy all the islands and neutralise Boko Haram”, the security official said.

The jihadists, now affiliated with the Islamic State group, have been using the islands as a rear base after being routed from their traditional strongholds in Nigeria by the four-country offensive. The network of hundreds of islets separated by channels hidden by tall grass provides cover for the militants to steal livestock and crops from local inhabitants.

According to the security official, the Lake Chad clashes erupted Saturday on Midi Koutou island, leaving six Boko Haram fighters dead and 15 wounded. A Chadian soldier was also said to have been killed. The source said Boko Haram “kidnapped many women and children” as they fled Saturday’s fighting.

Evacuating residents

A source close to local authorities said that, following a request from the central Chadian government about two weeks ago, an operation was launched “to evacuate the islands” on the Chadian side of the lake and that about 90 percent of residents had been moved to the mainland since. “The army forcibly entered almost all the (Chadian) islands,” the source said, adding the militants were dispersed across “mainly little islets and villages”.

Buhari, meanwhile, will travel to Cameroon on Wednesday for talks with his counterpart Paul Biya on the Boko Haram insurgency, Nigerian presidential spokesman Femi Adesina said. A new wave of violence has claimed 800 lives since the Nigerian president came to power in May vowing to crush the insurgency.

Recent days have seen a spate of Boko Haram raids and suicide bombings in the region, with seven people killed in Cameroon at the weekend, three of whom were beheaded. Boko Haram earlier this month claimed responsibility for twin suicide bombings in N’Djamena that left 38 people dead, the SITE Intelligence Group reported.

Three days later, at least 15 people were killed in a suicide bomb attack at a crowded market in the Chadian capital. The European Union on Monday expressed solidarity with the anti-Boko Haram campaign. “Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria are sparing no effort in fighting terrorism in the region… The European Union supports the efforts for comprehensive bilateral and regional cooperation to tackle these challenges,” it said in a statement.

2 Teenagers Stab Their Parents And 3 Siblings To Death

2 Oklahoma teenagers, 18 year old Robert Bever and his 16-year-old brother, Michael Bever, have been accused of stabbing and killing 5 family members.

They were arrested after their 13-year-old sister who survived the attack identified them as the attackers in the Wednesday night massacre in Broken Arrow, OK.
The news comes as it was revealed the one of the victims, 12-year-old Daniel, had called 911 just before dying alongside his parents, David, 52, and April, 44, and siblings Christopher, 7, and Victoria, 5.
Although police originally said a 911 call from the home was silent, resulting in a welfare check, it has now been revealed in documents filed to support the teenager’s arrest that a caller from the home was able to tell police that ‘their brother was attacking their family’.
The family were found dead at 11.30pm on Wednesday in their luxurious house in Broken Arrow, southeast of Tulsa.
Crystal Bever, 13, is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
Her two-year-old sister, Autumn Bever, was discovered unharmed and is in state custody. She was allegedly born prematurely and her parents had recently started a nonprofit to help other families who have premature children.

Investigators said a 12-year-old male called 911 at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday and said they needed help because their brother was attacking the family. When officers arrived to the 700 block of Magnolia Court, they found blood on the porch and could hear a faint female voice inside asking for help.

When they made their way inside to the gruesome scene, they found the girl, who had been stabbed multiple times, the document says. The 12-year-old who called 911 was dead, they said.

“The young girl was still alive and made statements to the officers that her brothers [were] responsible for attacking her and her family,” the arrest report says.

As reported earlier, police and a K9 officer were able to track down Bever and his 16-year-old brother in a wooded area behind the home, and the new report reveals they found fresh footprints in the back yard. The two were arrested and placed in the Broken Arrow city jail then transferred to the Tulsa County Jail on Friday.

Bever was booked on five first-degree murder complaints and one count of aggravated domestic assault and battery with a deadly weapon. In his mugshot, Bever appears to have blood splatters and mud on his face, and BAPD Cpl. Leon Calhoun said that many of the officers who have been involved in the investigation are disturbed by his demeanor.

“He has a smirk on his face …I don’t know if there’s any remorse whatsoever based on that picture,” Calhoun said of Robert Bever’s first mugshot. A second mugshot was taken once he was transferred to Tulsa County.

At this time, the youngest brother’s name has not been made public in any news releases sent out by Broken Arrow police. A Tulsa County jailer, however, identified him to News On 9 as Michael Bever.

The 13-year-old girl survived surgery and is said to be stable at a local hospital.

Police said on Thursday that multiple knives and a hatchet were found in the home and are believed to be the murder weapons.

Woman Took Explicit Photos Of Her Lover Before She Stabbed Him To Death In The Shower

The final moments of Travis Alexander’s life were nothing short of horrific. He was stabbed multiple times and almost decapitated before being shot and left for dead in his shower. Travis’s flat was covered in blood where his body had been dragged and his killer had washed their bloodied hands.

Crime scene photos were shocking, but they were nothing compared to the chilling images found on a digital camera at the scene.

Last photo of Travis before he was killed

Investigators retrieved deleted photos that showed Travis alive in the shower, posing for the camera as water cascaded over him. Then, in a final photo, the water turned red with blood as his killer accidentally took a snapshot of his murder.

Handsome Travis Alexander, 30, was a marketing salesman who lived in Mesa, Arizona. He was a practising Mormon and a charismatic motivational speaker.

In September 2006, Travis met Jodi Arias, 27, at a conference in Las Vegas. She was a saleswoman living in California and had a passion for photography.

The pair began an intense long-distance relationship, exchanging over 80,000 emails and speaking on the phone for hours. Jodi was so smitten she joined the Mormon faith, but after just five months, their relationship hit the rocks. Travis told Jodi it was just physical and ended it.
Jodi was devastated and moved to Travis’s hometown of Mesa to work as a waitress. Travis told his family that she was stalking him – even claiming she’d crawled through a dog flap, so she could sleep on his sofa. But he continued to secretly have sex with her.
While Jodi thought they were back on track, Travis still refused to commit and, after two years, she moved back to California to live with her grandparents. But it wasn’t over.

A deadly obsession

Two months later, Jodi hired a car and drove to Mesa to see Travis. She filled
up petrol cans for the journey so she wouldn’t have to stop, and turned off her phone. On 4 June 2008, the estranged couple had sex one last time and took explicit photos of each other.
A few days later, Travis’s worried work colleagues couldn’t contact him. Friends went to his flat and discovered the bloody scene. Travis was slumped dead in the bottom of his shower with his throat deeply sliced from ear to ear and a gunshot wound to the head. There were over 27 stab wounds on his body.

Travis had been shot with a 25-calibre gun – the same type of gun that had been stolen from Jodi’s grandparents in a mysterious burglary a few months earlier.
The most disturbing discovery was a damaged digital camera in the washing machine, along with bloodied clothes that had been put through a wash. Police recovered deleted sexual images of Jodi and Travis.

Jodi changed her appearance and has courted the limelight since

Graphic shots

There was a picture of Travis alive and wet in the shower – then another photo that showed the back of Travis’s head, with his arm raised and blood tricking down his neck. Police believed it had been taken accidently as Travis was being killed.
Jodi was interrogated. At first she denied even being at Travis’s home, but when confronted with evidence she changed her story. She claimed two intruders had broken in, murdered Travis and attacked her. It was unlikely.

Finally Jodi broke down, saying she was a victim of domestic violence and that night Travis had violently attacked her. “It was self defence,” she sobbed. When police pressed for details, Jodi’s story was inconsistent and when left alone, she giggled and even did a headstand. She was charged with murder.

14 Killed In Twin Suicide Bombings By Boko Haram In Cameroon

Two bombs planted by suspected Boko Haram militants in Fotokol, a northern town in Cameroon, went off killing at least 15 people on Sunday. The first explosion went off inside a bar near a Cameroon special forces camp just after sundown as people were breaking the Ramadan fast. The second explosion followed as soldiers approached the bar. According to Colonel Didier Badjeck, military spokesman, three Chadian soldiers were among those killed.

ISIS Beheads Two Women In Syria For Witchcraft

Islamic State beheaded two women over the weekend accused of witchcraft and working with elves in eastern Syria
The 2 women have become the first to be beheaded by Isis after being accused of witchcraft, sorcery and working with elves by the Islamic extremist group, according to reports emerging from eastern Syria.
The executions, for a supposed breach of sharia law, were carried out on Sunday and Monday respectively, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group based in Britain, said.
In separate executions, both women were put to death alongside their husbands in Deir ez-Zour province – the first in Deir ez-Zour city on Sunday, the second in Mayadin on Monday after being accused of using un-Islamic medicine by the extremist group.

The group says that this would be the first time the self-styled caliphate has killed women in this way.

Previous executions of women have involved stoning or firing squads, mostly for adultery.

The SOHR said this week in an audit of the year since the declaration of the ‘caliphate’ that Isis had executed 3,000 people in the past 12 months, 1,800 of them civilians, 86 of them women and 74 of them children.

Sugary Drinks Kill 184,000 Adults Around The World Every Year, Says Study

Sugary drinks are killing 184,000 adults around the world every year, and should be eliminated from people’s diets, medical experts have warned. The global death toll from sugar-laden drinks – ranging from soft drinks to fruit smoothies – has been revealed in a new paper published in the American Heart Association’s Circulation journal.

Most of the deaths are from people who die from diabetes, estimated at some 133,000 a year. Around 45,000 people die each year from heart disease and another 6,450 from cancer, according to the study – which is the first comprehensive assessment of the global deaths attributable to sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs).

Researchers estimating the deaths from diabetes, heart disease, and cancers in 2010 defined SSBs as any sugar-sweetened fizzy drinks, fruit drinks, sweetened iced teas, sports/energy drinks, or homemade sugary drinks. Pure fruit juice was excluded. The study drew on 62 dietary surveys including more than 611,000 people conducted between 1980 and 2010 across 51 countries – representing almost two thirds of the world’s adult population. This information, along with data on the health harms of sugary drinks, enabled researchers to estimate the number of deaths attributable to such beverages

When it comes to the total number of deaths annually, the United States tops the list – with 25,347. But when it comes to the actual death rate, Mexico is top – with 404.5 deaths per million adults. Most of the deaths are concentrated among adults aged 20 to 44 years of age in low and middle income countries, say researchers. Britain has 1,316 deaths a year, with an estimated mortality rate of 30.5 per million adults.

The findings “indicate the need for population based efforts to reduce SSB consumption throughout the world through effective health policies and targeted interventions directed at stemming obesity-related disease,” states the paper. The study was conducted by an international team of researchers from Harvard, Tufts and Washington universities in the US, and Imperial College London in the UK.

“Many countries in the world have a significant number of deaths occurring from a single dietary factor, sugar-sweetened beverages. It should be a global priority to substantially reduce or eliminate sugar-sweetened beverages from the diet,” commented Dr Dariush Mozaffarian, senior author of the study and dean of the Friedman School of Nutrition Science & Policy at Tufts University in Boston.

But responding to the research, Gavin Partington, director general of the British Soft Drinks Association, said: “In no way does this study show that consuming sugar-sweetened beverages causes chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease or cancer.”

He added: “The researchers provide no evidence when they illogically and wrongly take beverage intake calculations from around the globe and allege that those beverages are the cause of deaths which the authors themselves acknowledge are due to chronic disease.”

Tunisia Attack: ‘Paralysed’ Police Let Gunman Run Amok For Half An Hour, Says Witness

Armed policeman were “paralysed by fear” and allowed the Tunisian gunman Seifeddine Rezgui to freely massacre British tourists for more than half an hour before shooting him dead, witnesses claim.

Even though two police officers arrived at the scene within minutes, it was said to have been around half an hour before Rezgui was killed. In that time, 38 people, including at least 30 Britons, were fatally wounded. The armed policemen who arrived at the beach were “paralysed by fear”, a Belgian tourist told The Independent, speaking anonymously because she said she was afraid. “Some youths told the police, ‘We’re not afraid of dying, give it [the gun] to us.’”

The youths took the gun and ran up to the pool area, shooting in the air to get his attention, but then the gun jammed. The gunman turned around, threw a grenade at them and chased after them.

Tour Guide Reveals Moment He Threw An Ashtray At The Tunisian Gunman, In A Bid To Save Tourists

The man, known only as Mahdi (top left) attempted to thwart the killer by throwing an ashtray at his head after seeing him gun down dozens of tourists as they sunbathed on Friday. The 26-year-old tour guide has since told of trying to pile tourists into a little fishing boat to escape the beach, describing those murdered as ‘like family’. He said the fear of losing his job was what spurred him to attack Seifeddine Rezgui, the ISIS terrorist responsible for the attack. Despite Mahdi’s efforts, Rezgui continued his rampage, murdering 38 people before he was shot down in an alleyway while he prayed. (UK Daily Mail)

Missing Ex-Cult Leader Found Dead + Read Bizarre Way Cult Members Killed Him

Thirty-year-old Godwin Victor, aka Sangba, who was abducted by members of his former cult group for embracing normal life, has been found dead.

Sangba’s hands and legs were tied, while a log of wood was also tied to his neck before he was thrown into the Lagoon.

Policemen reportedly recovered his corpse around the UNILAG waterfront on Thursday. Sangba had quit his group due to fear for his safety and police harassment.

Some of his friends, who did not support his decision, attacked him. He was said to have moved to Port Harcourt after increased threats to his life. However, when he came back to check his family, he was abducted.

How he was abducted:

Family sources that Sangba was kidnapped by cultists, who were his friends and members of the gang he once led.

The gang members were said to have been displeased with his decision to quit the group and embrace normal life.

Sangba reportedly left the group due to constant harassment by the police and for safety concerns.

The 30-year-old Akwa Ibom indigene had recently returned to the community from Port Harcourt, when he was abducted on Friday.

His wife, Eniola, said her husband had returned from Port Harcourt where he relocated to due to threats to his life.

She said, “My husband is very popular in this community. Because of that, whenever there was a fight involving his friends and people’s property were destroyed, the police would arrest him.

“He became unhappy with the bad name they were giving him, and he called them and said he wanted to quit street fighting.

“He met other cult groups and appealed to them to embrace peace and lay down their weapons.”

She said the groups agreed to a truce in December last year.

A few months after the truce, sanity returned to the area. But some of Sangba’s friends, who were opposed to the development, attacked him.

Eniola said one of her husband’s friends shot him at a party in April, adding that he narrowly escaped.

“From that time, he stopped coming to the house and started lodging in a hotel nearby.

“When the stress became too much for him, he decided to relocate to Port Harcourt. While he was away, there was another bloody clash in Bajulaiye and Ebute; two people were killed. When he heard, he was disturbed and told his friends to stop the fighting. He wondered what they were fighting for.”

The victim later returned to Lagos on Wednesday, June 3, to look after his family and perfect plans to travel outside the country.

“When he arrived, he called one of those boys, who he trusted, and told him that he only came to get his travelling documents,” Eniola added.

The victim went to a club on Friday, when the gang attacked and abducted him.

Another friend, who was with him, Toheeb Akinpelumi, was said to have been injured before he escaped.

Sangba’s mother, Eme, said the family reported the matter at the Bariga Police Division.

She lamented that her son had yet to be found, urging the kidnappers to release him.

She said, “Since they kidnapped him on Friday, his phone numbers have been switched off. I have not been able to eat. He is my source of happiness and joy. I appeal to his friends, Anarchy, Ade and others, to release him. If he offended them, they should forgive him.

“Ade and Anarchy lived with me for two years and I fed them.

“After the disagreement started, they chased my son with guns, saying they would kill him.

“At another time, they came to the house and when they did not meet him they broke the television and said they would return.”

A police source said the victim was kidnapped by Anarchy, Rotimi, Lati, Ade and others, who were loyal to late Segun Ogere, aka Shaggy.

Shaggy was killed by suspected cultists while returning from a court, where he was the principal witness, sometime in 2014.

Men Suspected To Have Killed 148 Kenyan Students in Terror Attack Denied Bail In Court

Five suspects arrested in connection with a terror attack at a Kenyan university that killed 148 people were denied bail yesterday when they appeared before a court in Nairobi for the mention of their case.

Police had accused the suspects of supplying guns to the four gunmen who carried out the deadly attack in April.

The accused, Mohamed Ali Abdikar, Hassan Aden Hassan, Sahal Diriye and Osman Abdi who are thought to be Kenyan or Somali nationals, and Rashid Charles, a Tanzanian national, have denied the charges and were remanded in custody until later in the month when their trial is expected to commence.

While making the ruling, the chief magistrate said granting bail would compromise investigations as security officials were still compiling evidence.

The prosecution has said it intends to call more than 30 witnesses to testify in the case, and the trial is scheduled to begin in earnest on June 24.

After the attack, officials announced five arrests, including three alleged “coordinators” captured as they fled towards Somalia and two others seized at the university compound.

The two arrested on campus included a security guard and a Tanzanian found hiding in the ceiling holding grenades.

It will be recalled during the university attack, the extremists lined up non-Muslim students for execution while Muslim students were spared.

US jails Ex-Bin Laden Aide For Embassy Attacks

A former aide to Osama bin Laden has been sentenced to life in prison by a court in the US for conspiring in the deadly 1998 bombings of two US embassies in Africa.

Judge Lewis Kaplan said on Friday that Khaled al-Fawwaz was an eager supporter of bin Laden’s goals even before the attacks in Kenya and Tanzania that killed 224 people, including a dozen US citizens.

Fawwaz turned toward victims of the bombings and spoke of his remorse minutes before his sentence was announced.

“I can’t find words to describe how terribly sad and sorry I am,” Fawwaz said.

“I don’t support violence…I hope one day people will find other ways to live with their differences other than violence.”

Kaplan announced Fawwaz’s sentence after three victims spoke, including Ellen Karas, who was left blind by the attacks, the Associated Press news agency reported.

“I worship the same God as you,” she told the defendant. “But he is not an angry God. He is not a vengeful God”

Fawwaz lawyer had asked that he be sentenced to less than life in prison, saying he was less culpable than others

Police Hunt Killers of Suspected Female Suicide Bomber

Police in northeast Nigeria on Wednesday said they were hunting the mob who beat a woman to death and burnt her body after suspecting that she was a suicide bomber.

The woman, identified by her mother as 33-year-old Thabita Haruna, was killed on Sunday in Bauchi after she allegedly refused to undergo a security screening at a city market.

Boko Haram has increasingly used women and young girls as human bombs against so-called “soft targets” such as crowded bus stations and markets.

But Bauchi state police spokesperson Haruna Mohammed said Sunday’s victim was not a bomber. “All our investigations have proved that this woman was mentally sick and had nothing to do with suicide bombing,” he told AFP, without specifying her condition.

Appropriate action

“We as law enforcement agents will not stand by and allow people to take the law into their hands.

“We are continuing with [the] investigation and as soon as the perpetrators of this act are arrested we will take legal action [against] them.”

The woman’s mother, Rahab Haruna, said she hoped the authorities would take “appropriate action”.

“There is law, therefore her assailants should not have taken the law into their hands. They just killed and burnt my daughter,” she added.

She described Thabita as “a normal young woman” who worked as a trader until she became mentally ill, which saw her treated at a psychiatric hospital on and off between 2007 and 2013.

Burnt to death

“She would get an occasional bout of the illness and when that happened she would go wild and destroy things. She would gather household articles and burn them.

“When she got out of the fit she would calm down and became normal and help with domestic chores.

“She left home on Saturday, we didn’t know where she went. We looked for her all over our neighbourhood but we didn’t find her until the next day.

“She ended up in Muda Lawal [market] where she was assaulted, humiliated and burnt to death. Before she was killed they searched her and found on her the identification card of her sister Alheri.”

She was traced back to the family home from the ID card, she added.
