The Internet Is in Love With This 19-Year-Old “Melanin Goddess”

Khoudia Diop, the 19-year-old student and model from Senegal grew up getting teased and picked on because of the darkness of her skin, according to interviews she’s given to The Huffington Post and the Daily Mail. But somehow, she managed to embrace her difference instead of changing her appearance to feel more accepted.

And now the world is showing Khoudia with love. She’s been quickly amassing a social media fan base; her Instagram follower count is now above 300,000. She uses hashtags like #BlackGirlMagic, #MelaninOnFleek, and #DarkSkin on her gorgeous model shots.

Celebrating her skin tone wasn’t always easy. “Growing up, I faced it by confronting the bullies,” she told the Daily Mail. “As I grew, I learned to love myself more every day, and not pay attention to the negative people, which helped a lot.”

Though Khoudia still faces hateful comments online, she focuses her energy on inspiring others to love themselves. It seems to be working. “You are absolutely gorgeous!” wrote user kirstennicole126 on Instagram. “I’m glad you didn’t let the bullying destroy you! Wish i had your confidence!”

Khoudia is now working with The Colored Girl while pursuing a degree full-time in Paris. “I’ve learned to ignore the negative people and just be a living example of confidence and self-love,” she told The Huffington Post. “I let my life, and success, speak for itself.”

He Fell For Her When They Were 9, 84 Years Later, They’re Still In Love

When Thomas Howard was just a little boy, he and his family moved four doors away from the love of his life. According to Thomas, he knew when he first laid eyes on Irene that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

”I was only about 9 then and when I first saw Irene I thought, ‘what a lovely girl, she’s going to be my girl, this one’ and my fondness for her grew since then,” Thomas said.

It wasn’t long before Thomas and Irene became more than friends. As young teens, they would spend their time walking in parks together and sit in the back row of the movie theater holding hands. Even though Thomas was good friends with her brother, Frank, he says that Irene always came first.

“I would regularly go ’round to Irene’s house to call for Frank so we could go out to play but Irene’s mother got fed up with me turning up day after day,” he remembered. “In the end she joked ‘It’s not our Frank you want, it’s Irene,’ and she was right.”

Because he was so smitten with Irene, Thomas put his friendships on the line for her on more than one occasion.

“I nearly fell out with a friend over Irene but I liked the opposition. The other lad said that Irene was going to be his girl, but I said, ‘no she isn’t, she’s my girl,'” said Thomas. “Even though we both loved the same girl, we were still good pals.”

By 1931, Thomas and Irene were spending every waking moment together. But in 1941, the two were forced apart for some time after 19-year-old Thomas was called to care for troops on the frontline in World War II.

Thomas returned home safely and the happy couple were reunited. They soon moved in together and wed in May of 1945. This year, the couple celebrated their 70th anniversary.

“Throughout our lives together, we have only shown each other respect and good manners, and I think of lot of youngsters could learn a lot from that,” the 93-year-old shared.

He says that, above anything else, these two things are what have kept them together through thick and thin.

”When I was a lad, I was always taught to respect women, and if you saw a female in the street or one of your teachers, you automatically tipped your hat to them, otherwise you would be in trouble,” Thomas recalled. “I’ve always respected Irene — she’s been my lifeline. I may have been wrong on certain issues and so has she, but we always make up by the end of the day.”

Aside from respect and good manners, Thomas says that his undying love for his 93-year-old wife is something about his relationship that he has and always will cherish.

“We’re still in love all these years on. I still have her now and I’m proud of her,” Thomas added. “If I was fortunate enough to do it all again, I’d marry the same girl every time.”

American Mom, Son In Love Charged With Incest Remain Defiant

An American  mother and son whose forbidden love affair could land them each a lengthy jail sentence have declared they are ‘madly in love’ and nothing will tear them apart.
Monica Mares, 36, and her son Caleb Peterson, 19, face up to 18 months in prison if found guilty of incest at a trial later this year in New Mexico, United States. But police soon found out about the clandestine affair during a call over a row between the family and some neighbors.
The couple was charged with incest, a fourth-degree felony in New Mexico. They were arraigned and appeared jointly in court in April but were held in custody for breaching their no-contact order. They were released on $5,000 bond and now face a trial by jury in September.
But the mother and son couple have vowed to fight for their right to have a sexual relationship and are appealing to the public to donate to their legal fund, London Daily Mail Online reported.
Currently Mares is not allowed to see any of her children or have any contact at all with Peterson. Yet she maintains that is has all been worth it. “It is every bit worth it,’ she said. ‘If they lock me up for love then they lock me up. There is no way anybody could pull us apart, and I really do love him.
“It hurts he is far away. It hurts really bad. I wish I could see him, talk to him, but I can’t risk it.’
The Online report quoted the couple as saying they are willing to risk everything to be together and have decided to go public with their affair in a bid to raise awareness of Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA) relationships.
GSA is defined as sexual attraction between close relatives, such as siblings or half-siblings, a parent and offspring, or first and second cousins, who first meet as adults. Mares said: “He is the love of my life and I don’t want to lose him. My kids love him, my whole family does. Nothing can come between us not courts, or jail, nothing.
“I have to be with him. When I get out of prison I will move out of Clovis to a state that allows us to be together.’
Incest is a crime in all 50 states of U.S., but the specifics of the laws and punishment vary greatly from state to state. Mother-of-nine Mares said she would even give up the right to see her other children if she was asked to choose between them and her lover.
The couple who currently live separately in Clovis, New Mexico and are banned from having any contact with each other by the courts, first embarked on their love affair towards the end of last year.
Mares was just 16 when she gave birth to Peterson whose pre-adoption name was Carlos and he was adopted as a baby. The 36-year-old, who didn’t raise Peterson, saw him for the first time in 18 years last Christmas when she picked him up at his adoptive father’s house in Texas and brought him to her home after the pair got in touch over Facebook.
The couple soon developed romantic feelings for each other and their relationship became sexual a few weeks later. “The first time I met my son in person I was so happy and excited I gave him a big hug,’ Mares said.’I went to go pick him up at his dad’s house in Texas.
“He gave me a call and asked me to pick him up, I got butterflies in my stomach. I met him outside and I knew it was him when he came towards me. He was crying and he gave me a hug. It was almost love at first sight but first it was mother love. He gave me a mother hug.
“He came home in the truck and came to live with me and we were both happy as mother and son.” Mares said that at first nothing happened but she then started getting these ‘crazy’ feelings.
She said it felt different because she didn’t raise him as her child yet after all these years he came back to her.
“It felt like I met somebody new in my life and I fell in love with him,” she explained.
