I escaped from my burning house with my dog…like James Bond – Banky W

Nigerian entertainer Banky W has shared details of how he escaped the fire outbreak at his Lekki home, assuring fans that he and his dog were unhurt.

While the music star and actor sought to make light of the incident, he made it clear, it could have been worse. And thanked God and the neighbours and workers who helped put out the fire.

“Thank God we caught it early enough and the damage wasn’t so bad.. it basically burnt some of the stuff that was around it. So awards, portraits, and some small electronics. But thank God, Duke and I are alive and well. We only had to form James Bond and climb down from the top floor balcony LOL,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

“Thank God for my neighbors and the amazing workers in and around the compound for helping us escape via the balcony, helping put out the fire, and helping with the aftermath/cleaning. Thank God for life. And I’m not even upset.. I’m just grateful for life and health and for the grace and mercy of God on my life.”

The Cable: The N125m ‘invisible’ house rented for Nigeria’s Senate President.

A N125 million building purportedly rented for Senate President Bukola Saraki by the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) could not be traced by TheCable after several searches.

And, curiously, nobody is willing to comment on the mystery as all the key players in the affair refused to pick calls or reply SMS from TheCable.

The property is said to be located at Plot 973, Mban Close, off Pope John Paul Street, Maitama, Abuja, rented at N50 million per year on a two-year tenancy, with fees and VAT bringing the total cost to N125 million.

The property is described in the tenancy agreement as a five-bedroom detached duplex with two-room guest chalet boys quarters, a swimming pool, air conditioners and 1,350 square metres with “ample parking space”.

Felix Akpoti, the director of Legendark Consultants, the lessor, signed for his company while Omoniyi Olaloye, an engineer, signed for AMMC, which is under the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

The only problem, though, is that Plot 973 could not be physically traced.

Yusuph Olaniyonu, Saraki’s spokesman, has denied knowledge of the property, insisting that the senate president knew nothing about the rent as he lives in his own house at Lake Chad Crescent, Maitama, Abuja.

Download the tenancy Agreement for Plot 973

“I am telling you, it is a lie. The senate president lives in own house, and he does not take rent. He has no link to this issue,” he told TheCable.

Also, a second house purportedly rented for Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu at Plot 22, Vaal Street, off Rhine Street, Maitama, Abuja, is unoccupied.

It was described in the rent agreement as a five-bedroom detached duplex with a guest chalet of 3-bedroom boys quarters.

It costs N40 million per year for two years, starting from May 7, 2016 and terminating on May 6, 2018.

Again, Akpoti singed for Legendark Consultants, while Olaloye signed for AMMC.

However, the house is unoccupied as Ekweremadu still lives at his personal residence at the Apo Legislative Quarters.

His media aide, Uche Anichukwu, also told TheCable the deputy senate president is not aware of the property.

Download tenancy Agreement for Plot 22

Anichukwu said: “I’m not aware of any residential accommodation rented for the deputy president of the senate. A group known as CATBAN, supposedly a civil society group, initially alleged that the deputy president of the senate was paid over a hundred million by the FCT in lieu of accommodation. We refuted that allegation. We still stand by our statement because was a sponsored mischief. Nobody paid any money was to Senator Ekweremadu.

“Now that they have shifted to that a property was rented for him, my response is that I’m not aware that the deputy president of the senate was given any residential accommodation you. I know he lives at App Quarters. However, even if the FCT does give him any residential accommodation, it is still within his statutory right. Everybody knows that the FCT provides accommodation for president, vice-president, senate president, deputy president of the senate, speaker of the house of representatives, deputy speaker of the house, and the chief justice of Nigeria.

“Meanwhile, I’m also aware that the the presiding officers turned down over N10 Billion proposed by the FCT in the 2016 budget for the construction of their residential accommodation as as they said that it did not reflect the hardship in the country.”

Akpoti, who signed the agreements, refused to speak to TheCable on phone, demanding to see the documents first.

However, he did not give his location and failed to respond to further phone calls from.

He later told TheCable to email him the queries. But instead of responding to them he directed TheCable to the FCDA and the senate committee on FCT.

FCDA refused to comment, while Dino Melaye, chairman of senate committee on FCT, did not respond to an SMS query.

He was quoted by Daily Trust as saying the documents are “made in Taiwan”.

A series of offers

After a brief meeting on Monday, Muhammad Sule, FCDA spokesman, directed TheCable to Safiya Umar, acting director of the AMMC, to get details of the transaction. He said he had no idea of it because it was not within his purview.

TheCable called Umar repeatedly, and even sent her an SMS, but she did not respond as well.

A letter of contract award from AMMC to Legendark Consultants, dated 30 March, 2016, showed that Plot 973 was for the senate president.

“I am directed to inform you that provisional approval has been given for an emergency of contract to your company in line PPA Section 42 (1b &1f) for rented house for the senate president in Maitama AO5 (Plot No 973 Mban Close) for two years at the contract sum of N125m only with expiration period of two years,” the letter signed by Ibrahim Ibrahim Gusau, secretary tenders board, read.

A series of “offer for property” letters from Legendark was written to the senate committee, and not the FCDA.

Acknowledgement copies of the letters were received and signed by one Samuel Melaye.

One of the letters signed by Akpoti, entitled ‘Offer for property on Plot 2 Pechora Close, Panama Crescent, Maitama, Abuja’, read: “Sequel to our letter dated 19th January, 2016 to your good office, we are glad to inform you that we have secured a property on the above named address, that meets your kind request.

“The facilities of the property include: a seven-bedroom duplex with a mezzanine floor, a ballroom, a movie room, a four-bedroom boys’ quarters, a swimming pool (and) internal parking space for 10 cars.

“We hereby offer the property for rent/lease to you at the market/asking price of N45m per annum.”

The account details were stated as Guaranty Trust Bank, account number 021211999, sort code 058083228 and account name Legendark Consultants.

‘Phoney residences’

The Citizens Action to Take Back Nigeria (CATBAN), an advocacy group, had initially alleged that the presiding officers of the national assembly received over N630m from FCDA as rent for “phoney” residences.

Olaniyonu had then dismissed the allegation as false.

He said the four presiding officers of the national assembly had been living in their personal residences, and that “they do not get paid by any federal government agency”.

“There is no truth to the claim by this group. In fact, during the preparation of the budget, the senate president and speaker directed the FCDA to remove the N10bn voted for the construction of their official residences to save cost. The current leadership of the national assembly will not be part of any illegal payment to anybody,” he said.

However, Turaki Hassan, Dogara’s spokesman, said the presiding officers of the national assembly are entitled to official accommodation, “which is provided by the FCDA”, and that how the agency does it is “entirely its business”.

“Presiding officers of the national assembly are entitled to official accommodation, which is provided for by the FCDA as the host of the national assembly. The same is applicable to the president, vice president and the chief justice of Nigeria because their offices were not covered by the monetisation policy,” he said.

“Consequently, no national assembly presiding officer receives any money from any other source for accommodation or rent. The FCDA is solely responsible for providing official accommodation for presiding officers of the national assembly and how it goes about it is entirely its business and not that of any presiding officer. It’s callous, wicked and evil for any news medium to seek to perpetuate the mendacity that national assembly presiding officers collected money from FCDA without any form of evidence whatsoever.”

Lagos to commence ‘Rent to Own’ scheme December 8.

The Lagos State Government on Thursday said it would commence its `Rent to Own and Rental Housing schemes’ with 12 housing estates on December 8.

Gbolahan Lawal, the Commissioner for Housing, said at a news conference in Alausa that the policy was in response to the yearnings of residents for affordable and decent housing.

He said that the `Rent to Own’ policy would target low income earners in both formal and informal sectors, while the `Rental Housing’ policy would cover the working class.

According to him, the `Rent to Own’ policy will also cover those with regular income, with the rent deducted from source.

He said that the government would kick-start the project with over 1,000 units out of the 3,192 units earmarked in the first phase.

Lawal said the first phase of the project would be sited in the following areas: Epe, Agbowa, Ojokoro, Alimosho, Igbogbo, Igando, Iponri, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Ajara and Badagry.

He said that five per cent value of the housing unit would be paid as commitment fee on the Rent to Own Policy, while the balance would be spread for 10 years.

On the Rental Housing policy, Lawal said that rent would be collected on monthly basis, and tenants were required to pay one month deposit, according to the prevailing rent in each location.

According to him, rented apartments are not transferable.

Mr. Lawal said that applicants must be primarily residents in the state and would be required to submit a copy of their Lagos State Residents Registration Card.

He said that applicants must be first time home buyers, must be 21 years old and above, as well as be tax compliant, among others.

The commissioner urged members of the public to make enquiries online on www.lagoshoms.gov.ng or visit the ministry.

He assured that the selection process for both policies would be credible, fair and transparent.

House probes Budget Office for alleged breach of appropriation law.

The House of Representatives on Wednesday commenced investigation into an alleged breach of appropriation laws by the Director-General of the Budget Office, Ben Akabueze.

The lawmakers accused Mr. Akabueze of issuing a directive to the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, to return N8 billion to the federal treasury.

The allegation was brought to the attention of the House by Agbedi Frederick, a PDP member from Bayelsa State, under matters of urgent national concern.

Mr. Frederick said he observed that Mr. Akabueze, in blatant violation of budget provisions, had ordered FERMA to return N8 billion out of the N10 billion so far released to the agency for road maintenance this year.

The lawmaker said the parliament approved N21.8 billion for FERMA to carry out maintenance of dilapidated roads across the country as a matter of urgency.

But through the directive, Mr. Akabueze had effectively hindered the agency from carrying out its duties as required across the country, the lawmaker said

“The directive from the Director-General cannot be said to be virement as virement can only be appropriately approved by the National Assembly, which has not done so in this case,” Mr. Frederick said.

Consequently, the House raised an ad-hoc committee to investigate the matter and revert within a week.

WOW! See The $5.3Million House The Obamas Will Move Into After Leaving The White House

The Obamas settled on a post-Pennsylvania Avenue house to call home after the president leaves office at the end of this year, according to Politico. They will lease the home until their younger daughter, Sasha, finishes high school.

The home was listed for sale at $5.3 million before going off the market in May.

Though it’s smaller than their current, more famous abode, it’s still a lavish residence in a desirable area of the nation’s capital. It was built in 1928, with 8,200 square feet and nine bedrooms.

It’s being leased to the Obamas by Joe Lockhart, former President Bill Clinton’s White House press secretary.

The Obamas are trading white for brick at their newly leased mansion in the Kalorama section of DC.

Democrats gain one U.S. Senate seat so far, as Republicans hold House.

Majority control of the U.S. Senate was up for grabs in Tuesday’s election, with 27 out of 34 results called by major TV networks, including one pickup by the Democrats in Illinois.

A handful of extremely tight Senate races remained too close to call, while the networks declared that Republicans, as expected, retained their majority in the House of Representatives.

The outcomes in both chambers will help determine how hard it will be for either Democrat Hillary Clinton or Republican Donald Trump to get things done as president.

The following are facts on the stakes and races to watch:

U.S. Senate, 100 seats.

Senators serve six-year terms. A third of the Senate is up for re-election every two years. Procedural rules in the Senate mean 60 votes are needed to advance major initiatives.

Republicans entered the election with 54 seats, led by Kentucky’s Mitch McConnell, versus the Democrats’ 44 seats and two independent seats. The Democrats’ leader in the next Senate is expected to be New York’s Chuck Schumer.

The Republicans this year were defending 24 seats; the Democrats, 10.

U.S. House, 435 seats

Members of the House serve two-year terms and all are up for re-election every two years.

To advance most bills in the House, 218 votes or more are needed. Republicans went into the elections holding 246 seats to the Democrats’ 186. There were three vacancies.

The Republican leader is Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin; the Democrats’ leader is Nancy Pelosi of California.

To win a majority, Democrats needed to gain 30 seats.

Senate races, with projected results where available:

Alabama – Senate Banking Committee Chairman Richard Shelby, as expected, won a sixth term, defeating Democrat Ron Crumpton.

Arizona – Veteran Republican Senator John McCain, 80, defeated Democratic U.S. Representative Ann Kirkpatrick, 66.

Arkansas – Republican Senator John Boozman beat Democrat Conner Eldridge.

California – State Attorney General Kamala Harris, a Democrat, won the seat held by retiring Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer. Harris defeated fellow Democrat Loretta Sanchez.

Colorado – Democratic Senator Michael Bennet won a third term, turning back a challenge from Republican Darryl Glenn.

Connecticut – Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal won a second term, defeating Republican Dan Carter.

Florida – Incumbent Republican Marco Rubio, the failed presidential contender, defeated Democratic Representative Patrick Murphy.

Georgia – Republican Senator Johnny Isakson won his race against Democrat Jim Barksdale.

Idaho: Republican Senator Mike Crapo defeated Democrat Jerry Sturgill.

Indiana – Democrat Evan Bayh, 60, failed in his bid to recapture his Senate seat, defeated by Republican Representative Todd Young, 44.

Illinois – Democratic Representative Tammy Duckworth unseated Republican Senator Mark Kirk. Duckworth, 48, is a double-amputee Iraq War veteran. Kirk, 57, suffered a stroke that sidelined him for much of 2012.

Iowa – Republican Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, 83, won a seventh term, defeating Democrat Patty Judge.

Kansas – Republican Senator Jerry Moran won a second term, defeating Democrat Patrick Wiesner.

Kentucky – Republican Senator Rand Paul won a second term against Democrat Jim Gray. Paul unsuccessfully ran for president earlier this year.

Louisiana – Republican Senator David Vitter is retiring, opening the door to a crowd of would-be successors. Two dozen candidates from both parties are on Tuesday’s ballot. If no candidate gets at least 50 percent of the vote, a runoff election between the top two will be held on Dec. 10.

Maryland – Democratic Representative Chris Van Hollen will replace retiring Senator Barbara Mikulski. Van Hollen defeated Republican Kathy Szeliga.

Missouri – Republican Senator Roy Blunt, 66, faces a stiff challenge from Democrat Jason Kander, 35, a veteran of the Afghanistan war who is now Missouri’s secretary of state.

Nevada – Republican Representative Joe Heck, 55, and Catherine Cortez Masto, 52, a former Democratic state attorney general, are fighting to replace retiring Senator Harry Reid.

New Hampshire – Democratic Governor Maggie Hassan, 58, is trying to oust Senator Kelly Ayotte, a 48-year-old Republican.

New York – Senator Chuck Schumer, who is expected to become the next Senate Democratic leader, defeated Republican Wendy Long in the heavily Democratic state.

North Carolina – Republican Senator Richard Burr, 60, won re-election against Democrat Deborah Ross, 53, a former state legislator.

North Dakota – Republican Senator John Hoeven won a second term, defeating Democrat Eliot Glassheim.

Ohio – Republican Rob Portman, 60, defeated Democratic challenger Ted Strickland, 75, a former governor. Portman initially endorsed Trump, but later withdrew that and pointedly refused to appear with Trump or talk about him.

Oklahoma – Senator James Lankford won a second term, defeating Democrat Mike Workman in this overwhelmingly Republican state.

Oregon – Senator Ron Wyden, the senior Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, defeated Republican Mark Callahan.

Pennsylvania – Republican Senator Patrick Toomey, 54, faces Democrat Katie McGinty, 53, in the most expensive U.S. Senate contest in the country. Toomey has refused to take a position on Trump. An Oct. 30-Nov. 4 poll by the Allentown Morning Call and Muhlenberg College had Toomey with a small lead, 43 percent to 42 percent.

South Carolina – Senator Tim Scott, the only African-American Republican in the Senate, beat Democrat Thomas Dixon.

South Dakota – Senator John Thune, a member of the Senate Republican leadership, won a third term, defeating Democrat Jay Williams.

Utah: Conservative Republican Senator Mike Lee, in this heavily Republican state, won against Democrat Misty Snow.

Vermont – Senator Patrick Leahy, the longest-serving Democrat in the Senate, beat Republican Scott Milne.

Washington – As expected, Senator Patty Murray, a member of Senate Democratic leadership, defeated Republican Chris Vance.

Wisconsin – Democrat Russ Feingold, 63, failed to oust Republican Ron Johnson, 61, according to projections. Johnson unseated Feingold in 2010 and was seen as one of the most vulnerable Republicans going into the 2016 campaign.

“Bukola Saraki lied about buying a house from proceeds of rice.” – Witness

Michael Wetkas, a detective of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday, said Senate President Bukola Saraki borrowed money to buy a piece of property in Lagos, but that he claimed the money was from the sale of rice and sugar.

Wetkas, while being cross-examined on counts two and three of the 16-count charge of false asset declaration against the senate president at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), said the defendant borrowed the money from Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB).

Paul Usoro,  Saraki’s lawyer, examined him.

Acknowledging the charge which read in part: “You (Saraki) falsely declared a property at 17 A and B Ikoyi, Lagos, which you said you bought from the proceeds of rice and sugar whereas it was a loan from Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB),” Wetkas insisted that it was? valid.

The EFCC detective said Saraki bought the property in 2006 from a loan of N400m from GTB, but that he allegedly did not declare it in 2011 at the end of his eighth term as governor of Kwara state.

However, Wetkas admitted that Saraki declared the property  in 2007 at the end of his first term as governor.

?Saraki had made several attempts to halt his trial at the CCT, but he failed at every turn.

He maintains that his trial is politically motivated.

The trial was in progress as of the time of filing this report.

Jibrin warns House against suspension

Erstwhile chairman of the House of Representatives Appropriation Committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin, Tuesday expressed deep apprehension over his imminent suspension from the House that may follow the outcome of the Ethics and Privileges Committee’s investigative hearing which he shunned.

Jibrin at a press briefing Tuesday, warned the House over his suspension on a matter, which he said was already in court.

The lawmaker who said slamming suspension on him would amount to contempt of court, said he refused to attend the
committee’s sessions as it never communicated to him in his letter of invitation the offences that he was accused of.

He further said the committee was not able to restore his confidence on it as he had severally complained of the meddlesomeness of its chairman, Ossai Nicholas Ossai, on the allegations he raised against Speaker Yakubu Dogara that led to his alleged misconduct.

“I was not served notice of the allegations by the Ethics Committee. I didn’t know what I was to defend myself of. They only told me in their invitation that the House referred a motion to them and that I should come with relevant documents,” Jibrin claimed.

He said he was interested in knowing how he breeched the privileges of members and those he breeched their privileges and not for the House to lump everything together.

Jibrin said he was giving the committee till the end of this week to investigate the allegations he raised against Dogara and others, otherwise, he would go out of his way to expose the shoddy deal of each member of the committee.

He said he was not ready to stop the anti-corruption struggle and would never lobby any member to join him if that is what they are waiting for, adding that he is ready to stand alone to the end.

He was however of the opinion that the support Dogara was enjoying presently was cosmetics, as he allegedly blackmailed members into it, assuring that he would expose the blackmail soon.

House To Investigate Budget Padding Allegations

The House of Representatives on Wednesday resolved to conduct an investigation into the allegations of tampering with the 2016 budget by some of its members.

This followed a point of order brought under Matters of Privilege by the Chairman, House Committee on Rules and Business, Rep. Emmanuel Oker-Jev.

It would be recalled that former Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Rep. Abdulmumin Jibrin, accused the Speaker of the house, Mr Yakubu Dogara and some principal officers of padding the 2016 budget.

Jibrin (APC-Kano) also demanded that Dogara should resign to allow investigations to be conducted into the matter.

Moving the point of order, Oker-Jev called for the suspension of Jibrin, describing his allegations as “sundry act of misconduct’’ against the members and institution of the House of Representatives.

According to him, Jibrin embarked on campaign of calumny and denigration by making publications in the media and internet against the entire membership of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly as an institution.

He said, “Jibrin’s comments were contemptuous of the House of Representatives and a breach of collective privileges of the members of the house.”

Lagos Government clarifies N500bn bond approved by House

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has clarified the N500bn Bond Programme approved by the State House of Assembly, saying the Bond was a pool fund that would span over a period of time and not just for the current Appropriation year.

The Governor, who spoke to journalists on Wednesday, said that it was pertinent to clarify the Bond Programme as it had been technically misrepresented in some section of the media.

Explaining the modalities of the Bond Programme, Governor Ambode said that the State, since 2007, has had two Bond Issuance Programme, adding that the one recently approved by the Assembly was the third and would run for a period of three to five years.

He said that for the current Appropriation Year, the State can only draw N60billion from the pool of N500billion, saying that the State would draw from the fund for subsequent years as approved by the House.

Before you can actually even appropriate it in your budget, you need that programme and that programme was what was approved by the House.

But in the appropriation of 2016, what is in the Appropriation law for 2016 is just N60billion. So, it’s from this Programme that we are pulling out this N60billion.

So, for next year’s budget, if the House approves for instance N80billion as bond, we don’t need to go back to the House again after they have approved that budget, you draw from that issuance programme and take another amount which is approved for 2017 budget.

If they approve any amount for 2018 budget, you take from that pool of N500billion, which can take the next five to ten years. So it’s just a lump sum which you now draw down based on the authorization by the House. That is the technical explanation. It’s not as if the State wants to go and take another N500billion, it’s just a requirement by Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) so that you follow the procedure on a yearly basis.”

The Governor also assured that the N60billion Bond Programme approved for the current year would be used to accelerate the aggressive infrastructural development ongoing in the State.

17-Year Old Commits Suicide Over Pregnancy, Drops Note

A 17-year-old girl, (first name withheld) Saka has died after drinking local insecticide, Sniper in Igando area of Lagos State.

Lagos Metro gathered that the victim allegedly blamed her grandma for her death in a note which she left behind.

The elderly woman was arrested after Saka’s boyfriend had reported the case at Igando division.

A source explained that Saka was taken to her grandma’s house in Mofoluwasho Close to live with her after the death of her mother because she was the only child of her parents. Saka’s mother died
when the victim was only three years old.

The source said, “She had been living with her since then. The woman is a trader in Ikotun market and that was how the girl met with a guy whom she started dating. Whenever the woman was not around, she would bring the man home and he would spend the night with her.”

Another source disclosed that the woman was not pleased with the news that Saka was pregnant so, she insisted she packed out of the house.

“The grandma insisted that she moved out of the house to her boyfriend’s house. The woman packed her luggage outside the gate and the girl angrily left the house, took Sniper and drank it,” he said.

Residents said the victim began foaming in the mouth at her boyfriend’s house and was rushed to the Igando General Hospital where she was confirmed dead.

When the boyfriend saw the suicide note, he was said to have reported to the police.

A resident said, “The girl and the boyfriend loved each other. The man did not even reject the pregnancy. It was from the suicide note that the boyfriend saw that the girl accused her grandma of causing her death. He reported to the police with the note in his hand.

“The Police took the suicide note and arrested the woman. She was in tears at the bus stop as she kept saying she didn’t mean her any harm. It was a sad sight,” another resident said.

A resident, who identified himself as Goddey, appealed to the government to intervene in the increasing teenage suicides in the community.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.

She said Saka’s corpse had been deposited in a mortuary. “Her corpse has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy. Investigation is still ongoing,” he added.

Sex Scandal: U.S. Ambassador To Testify At House Thursday

United States Ambassador James Entwistle is expected to testify before the House of Representatives panel probing the allegation of sexual misconduct against three lawmakers on Thursday

The lawmakers- Mohammed Garba Gololo, Samuel Ikon, and Mark Gbillah – were accused of sexual impropriety while on a training programme in Cleveland, Ohio, United States between April 7 and 13.

The ambassador blew the lid on the scandal in a June 9 letter to Speaker Yakubu Dogara. He said the members brought disrepute to the parliament by soliciting for sex from prostitutes and one of them grabbed a hotel housekeeper in a bid to rape her.

While Dogara insisted that unless evidence is provided, the onus of proof is with those making the allegations as the lawmakers are legally presumed innocent.

On June 21, the House during plenary mandated its joint committees to investigate the allegations. The committees are: Ethics and Privileges, and Foreign Affairs.

The invitation for the ambassador to appear before the committee today was moved till Thursday on the request of the embassy.

The Speaker said no evidence had been forwarded to his office apart from the letter, and that there can be no conviction without a trial.

“Together with the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, we will get to the bottom of this matter”, he said.

Sources said yesterday that Entwistle may shock members by providing video evidence of the alleged misdeeds based on the continuous denials of the three members and the posture of the House that the Ambassador must show proof. But this information could not be independently confirmed.

Others expected to appear before the probe panel are : Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyema; Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, the three accused lawmakers and seven other lawmakers that attended the leadership Programme.

Chairman of the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges, Ossai Nicholas Ossai, said yesterday the committee decided not to extend the invitation to the hotel management.

Court Slams Zuma For Use Of Public Funds To Renovate House

South Africa’s top court on Thursday delivered a damning verdict against President Jacob Zuma, saying he flouted the constitution over public funds used to upgrade his private residence, sparking immediate calls for him to be impeached.

Zuma “failed to uphold, defend and respect the constitution as the supreme law of the land,” Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng said in a strongly-worded ruling from the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg.

The court judgment came as Zuma fights back against separate allegations that a wealthy Indian family influenced ministerial appointments in a scandal that has rocked his government.

Zuma has also been battered by the country’s sharply declining economy. But he retains a strong grip on parliament through his dominant leadership of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party, and any impeachment bid looked unlikely to succeed. The so-called “security” upgrades at Zuma’s rural homestead, which were valued in 2014 at 216 million rand (then $24 million), included a swimming pool, a chicken run, a cattle enclosure and an amphitheatre.

“The president must personally pay the amount determined by the national treasury,” Mogoeng said on Thursday.

I Caught My Wife With Her Boyfriend In My House, Man Tells Court

A middle-aged man, Dare Falana, on Tuesday told an Igando Customary Court that he caught his wife, Ganiyat, eating “Tantalizer’’ take-away with her boyfriend in his living room.

Dare had urged the court to dissolve his marriage blessed with three children because of his wife’s infidelity, sex starvation and frequent fighting.

“Usually I come home late at night, but on this faithful day I decided to come home early, only for me to meet her with her boyfriend eating Tantalizers in our home.

“I was too shocked to say anything; I left them there and went out but by the time I came back the man had left.

“There was a time I went to Abuja before I came back she got into a fight and was arrested. I spent the N40, 000 I brought from Abuja on that case.’’

He told the court that “my wife starves me of sex whenever I demanded for it.

“I have to beg my wife for sex as if she is still my girlfriend. She plays all sorts of unimaginable pranks to escape having sex with me.

“She only comes to me for sex when she feels like and not the other way round.

“When I complaint to her sister, she told her that he have a disease that’s why she stopped having sex with me.

“I’m feed up, I can’t continue this way,’’ he said.

The respondent denied allegations of infidelity, but admitted that she usually starve her husband of sex.

“He married me a virgin, how can I be so bold and bring my supposed boyfriend to my husband’s house, the supposed boyfriend is my distance relative.

“I called my distant cousin, and told him I was hungry and that my children don’t have food to eat when they return from school.

“I specifically told him to get food for me and my children from the eatery.

“My husband’s ways are questionable, he acts and talks desperately about making money at all cost.

“He keeps comparing me to his friend’s wife.

“My husband told me that his friend’s wife is an ogbanje (witch) and she uses that to bring goodluck to her husband, that I should be doing same for him, which I refused.

“He beats me up, but in spite of this I still love my husband,’’ Ganiyat said.

The court President, Adegboyega Omilola, ordered the couple to attend an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) on March 17.

He adjourned the case till March 29 for hearing.

Buhari Moves To Stop Senate, House From Buying Over N4.7 Billion Exotic Cars

President Muhammadu Buhari has frowned at plans by the National Assembly to buy over 400 new vehicles valued at over N4.7 Billion at a time the nation is facing cash crunch.

Mr. Buhari criticised the plan on Wednesday during his first televised Presidential Media chat, saying he had rejected a plan to buy new vehicles for him in the 2016 budget estimates.

“I turned down a N400 million bill for cars for the presidency, because the vehicles I am using are good enough for the next 10 years,” he said.

The president said he was having problems with the National Assembly because they were refusing to subject themselves to the new policy of a Treasury Single Account, TSA, and were planning plan to buy new vehicles.

“As for the National Assembly, we are having problems with them. I think everybody has to subject themselves to TSA as far as federal money is involved,” Mr. Buhari said.

When reminded that as the president, he might have the power to try to stop the purchase, Mr. Buhari said “I will explore that power to stop the expenditure of N50 billion for cars by the National Assembly.

“If I can turn down N400 million for the presidency that I do not need any new car because of the economy, I can’t see the National Assembly spending more that N47 billion to buy cars, on top of transport allowance they collect.

“I have to revisit that story. The budget for their transport allowance comes up to a N100 billion. With the kind of money that goes into the National Assembly, we have to look at it conscientiously and see how we can live within our means,” he said.

Blac Chyna Doesn’t Want Her Son In Kylie Jenner’s House

It looks like Blac Chyna, 27, and 18-year-old Kylie Jenner’s feud is heating up again — and a new report claims she is getting her son, King Cairo, 2, involved!

A new report claims Blac doesn’t want her ex-fiancé and baby daddy, Tyga, 26, taking the little one when he spends time at his girlfriend’s house.

“Blac recently tried putting King to bed at her house and he threw the biggest tantrum she’d ever seen. He was crying and didn’t want to sleep. He said ‘I don’t like my room here, I want my room at Kylie’s!’” a source tells Hollywood Life.

The source adds, “Blac was stuck. She was completely still for at least three minutes and started crying. She let King play because she needed to grasp what he had just said. She calmed herself down, texted Tyga and told him that she never ever wants King inside Kylie’s house again!”

We could see why this would upset Blac, especially since she’s been struggling to cope with the controversial couple’s relationship.

Wife Takes Revenge On Cheating Husband By Selling House While He Was Away

A cheating husband was shocked and in despair after returning from a business trip to find his wife had sold their house.
Builder Craig Arnolds returned home from New York to find the locks changed – and six students in his lounge.Wife Laura, aged 42, had packed her bags and gone.

She took the extreme measure after discovering an incriminating message on her partner’s iPhone.
44-year-old Craig  forgot his iPhone 6 when on a business trip to America. When the phone flashed an unknown number, suspicious Laura swooped. The steamy message was from an American woman who described the kind of hot reception Craig could expect in New York.It was then she hatched her revenge plot.

Laura told The Sunday Mercury:

“Things aren’t great between us at the moment.I could do it because my parents came up with the deposit for our home and when we struggled with the mortgage, they came in.”

Craig, who now lives in London, described the baffling scene that greeted him at the former family home.

“All the lights were on and the TV was blaring,” “I remember thinking it was really out of character for Laura to be up past 11pm. I had no idea what on earth was going on.
“At this point I was seriously freaked out, jet lagged and frantic – I started banging on the door and shouting Laura’s name – but was greeted instead by what looked like a 21-year-old hippie.”

He added: ‘

I noticed all Laura’s furniture was gone, but the chairs and tables I’d inherited from my late father, plus my set of golf clubs and vintage radio – which Laura always hated – was sitting on the kitchen table in all its glory.“She’d included my most prized possessions in the ‘fixtures and fittings’. I was gutted. I still can’t get my head around how she did this in the space of a two week holiday.”

Last time I marry an Italian, that’s for sure.“I made a mistake and paid for it dearly.
“I was very annoyed at first but life is too short to dwell on these things and I made the decision that for the children’s sake, we should stop the hostilities there.
“Who knows, maybe by getting this out of her system will allow us to build on the existing amicable relationship?”

DSS Explains Siege To Dasuki’s House

The Department of State Security, DSS, has debunked the claim that its operatives invaded the home of the former National Security Adviser in defiance of a court order granting him permission to travel abroad for medical treatment.

The DSS in a statement, explained that the action by its officers is caused by the refusal of Mr. Dasuki to honour an invitation by a committee investigating his alleged involvement in the 2 billion dollars arms procurement process by the past administration.

The statement added that his refusal to appear before the committee compelled the DSS to adopt a legal means to ensure his attendance.

Press Release

The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been brought to the report making rounds that its operatives illegally blocked the residence of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo DASUKI (Col/Rtd), in violation of a subsisting court order granting him a relief to travel oversea for medical services. This is to say the least that such report is not only unfounded and malicious but aimed at tarnishing the good image of the Service.

  1. It may be recalled that SAMBO was initially arrested and charged to court for unlawful possession of firearms and money laundering, for which reason his international passport was seized and on the order of the court, returned to the registrar for custody. What has however brought the seeming standoff between SAMBO and the Service, despite the court-ordered release of his international passport on 4th November, 2015, is his refusal to appear before a Committee undertaking the investigation of an entirely different case.
  2. The public may wish to note that the government set up the Committee to investigate procurement processes relating to a two billion dollar ($2billion) arms transaction by the last administration, under which SAMBO was the NSA. It was on this premise that he was invited by the Committee to shed more light on his involvement in the deal. It, therefore, remains surprising and shocking that SAMBO has refused to honour invitations of the Committee but instead resorts to grandstanding and subtle blackmail of the Service. His refusal to appear before the Committee has left the Service with no option than to adopt legal means to ensure his attendance.
  3. Therefore, without doubt, SAMBO is pulling all strings available to him to evade justice and put the Service in bad light. The simple fact is that the DSS is not persecuting him. Nigerians are therefore enjoined to disregard the impression being created by him. This Service wishes to re-emphasise its commitment to the rule of law and strict adherence to democratic ideals. However, any person or group, no matter how highly placed, that may wish to test the will of the present democratic dispensation, will definitely be checked through the legal provisions of the law.

DSS Lays Siege To Dasuki’s House

There seems to be a fresh attention on the home of the former National Security Adviser, Retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki, as men of the Department of State Security (DSS) have increased their presence.

It is not exactly clear why the fresh occupation is taking place but there are strong indication that Colonel Dasuki is being prevented from seeking medical attention abroad.

Although agency report says he has been placed on house arrest as his home in the nation’s capital, Abuja is currently surrounded by men of the DSS.

The former NSA was charged to court with illegal possession of arms following a siege to his Abuja home and subsequent arrest in July. The charge against him was later expanded to include money laundering.

Oscar Pistorius House Where Reeva Was Killed, Now To Serve As Weekend Party Venue

The house where Oscar Pistorius shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp is set to be used as a party venue by two businessmen. The pair have insisted there was “no disrespect” over their plans for the building in Pretoria, South Africa.

Beers in hand, business partners David Scott, 33, and Kagiso Mokopane, 23, were seen in a footage giving a tour of the property where they intend to host parties on weekends, claiming it is perfect for entertaining people.

They will be renting the house from owner and mining consultant Louwtjie Louwrens, who bought the house for 4.5 million rand (£220,000).

Pistorius had to sell the property to pay for mounting legal fees during his trial.

Ms Steenkamp, a model and reality TV star, died when Pistorius fired four shots though the bathroom door at his home on St Valentine’s Day in 2013.

The 28-year-old said at his trial he believed there was an intruder and that Ms Steenkamp was in the bedroom at the time.

The judge accepted his version of events and cleared him of murder, but he was found guilty of culpable homicide and jailed for five years.

The Paralympic gold medallist was given an additional three-year sentence, suspended for five years, for firing a gun in a restaurant.

He was set to be released on parole in August, but this has been delayed.

Standing in front of the crime scene, Mr Scott insisted: “It’s not too soon. No disrespect to anything that happened.”

He said: “We can decorate the house in honour of what happened here and then we’ll invite people over.

“This is definitely an entertainer’s house, Oscar built this house to entertain.

“Hot girls can invite themselves.”

Mr Mokopane said: “We really enjoy life, entertainment but work comes first obviously, but every weekend it’s going to go down here. Find me here, find us here, Silver Woods Country Estate.”

He added: “I feel bad for Reeva’s parents and you know my heart goes out to her family, indeed. What he did was wrong, it was never supposed to happen that way.”

Wealthy Man Forced To Live On The Lawn Of His $1.3m Home After Wife Kicks Him Out

A 69-year-old man has been forced to live on the front lawn of his $1.3million mansion for six months after his angry doctor wife kicked him out.
Sharafat Khan is homeless but sleeping just a few feet away from the front door of his lavish Seabrook, Texas, home because the mother of his two children, Shahnaz, 61, changed the locks in the midst of an ongoing domestic dispute.

Someone close to the situation said Khan’s wife claims she can’t file for divorce because she and her husband practice Islam and they strictly follow Sharia law. Khan told KPRC this has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with money.
“She doesn’t want to hand over half her fortune,” he said.
He can’t file for divorce because he claims he can’t afford to.

He has no access to the couple’s money and has been barred from using the washing facilities, even though he owns half the suburban property.

Neighbours are very worried because he is elderly, in poor health and in a fragile state.

“He’s wearing the same clothing, it’s dirty,” neighbor Debbie Scoggins said. “He has no bathroom facilities, no shoes.”

“The weather is starting to get colder,” Laurel Stout, who lives across the street, said. “He’s very frail, he can’t even walk. I’m afraid he is going to die out here in his yard.”

Khan doesn’t feel like he should have to leave because the home and property are just as much his. He said he wants to be allowed inside and he’s hoping he can pressure his wife into changing her mind.

“She doesn’t want me to have any sort of comfort,” he said.

Night after night he sleeps on the front porch wrapped in a sheet. During the day he tries to find shade under the trees. On Monday he was eating saltine crackers and drinking a warm bottle of water.
Neighbors said if they take him blankets and pillows, the wife takes them away.
There are signs posted all over the home instructing the neighbors not to help him or feed him.
Khan said the dispute is over his relationship with other family members. She wanted him to cut ties but he refused.
Police officers who are familiar with the situation said they have been called out to the home 20 to 30 times in the last six months. There is nothing legally they can do because Khan has every right to be there and they can’t force his wife to let him in.

“Our hands are tied,” one officer said.

Adult Protective Services are involved but can’t release specific information about the case because of confidentiality laws. A spokesperson for the agency said they cannot force someone to get help.

“I’m just hoping we can find help for him,” Scoggins said.

“Allowing this to continue is not in the best interest of anyone,” Stout said.

KPRC 2 reached out to the doctor for comment, she said it was a private matter and did not wish to speak about it.
Some problems stemmed from a 2008 assault charge, that’s when Sharafat Khan was accused of hitting his wife, according to court documents.
Family members also said they have tried to get Khan help but he refuses. They’ve spoken with social workers and he’s been in and out of certain facilities but often leaves against medical advice.

I Don’t Have A House Outside Nigeria- Dangote

Africa’s richest man and foremost business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has disclosed that despite his wealth, he has no residential property outside Nigeria. Dangote, whose 2015 net worth was put at $21.6billion, according to Forbes, also revealed how the late Chief M. K. O. Abiola discouraged him from investing in the media.

The business mogul stated this during an interactive meeting with senior media executives in Lagos at the weekend.

He said, “Somebody asked me, how many houses do you have abroad? I said, well, to tell you the good news, I don’t even have a nine-inch block outside Nigeria, and that is the truth; I don’t have a house anywhere abroad.”

Dangote also recalled a meeting with the late Abiola at his Ikeja, Lagos residence where the latter told him about the dangers of mixing media interests with other business interests.

He said, “I went to see Abiola and I said to him, you look a bit worried. And he said he could not sleep because of a publication…How many times will I be chasing reporters and running my business. Let me advise you, don’t go and do this newspaper business.”

Woman For Free: Buy This Lovely House And Get A Free Wife

A woman is not and cannot be equal with a man. If you still think that their must be equality between man and woman, the joke is on you. A forty years old man can marry a 25 years old girl and it is cool but a woman of forty can’t go and marry a 25 years old boy. If you do, be ready to face the society.

This woman just realized that. Now, she is ready to offer herself as a wife to any mature man who can buy the house her late husband left behind for her. She doesn’t just want to be sleeping around with small boys, but be a decent woman with a husband. Read her story below…

An advert for a house in Indonesia has gone viral online after the woman selling it offered to throw in an unusual extra feature for free — her hand in marriage.

The Internet ad reads for the most part like a regular house listing, saying that the single-storey property has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a parking space and a fish pond.

But it also proposes to buyers a “rare offer” — “when you buy this house, you can ask the owner to marry you”, alongside a picture of Wina Lia, a 40-year-old widow and beauty salon owner, leaning against a car in front of the house.

The ad said that terms and conditions apply, and notes the offer is “for serious buyers and non-negotiable”. The house in Sleman, on the island of Java, is on the market for 999 million rupiah (about $75,000).

News of the offer quickly spread among Internet users in social media-crazy Indonesia.

A user on popular online forum said Wina Lia is “quite smart — even though the house will be sold, she will remain the owner.”

But the mother of two explained that she had asked a friend who was a property agent to help her find a buyer — and in the process a husband — but she had expected him to pass on the news to a limited number of people, not put an ad online.

“I told a friend of mine who also works as property agent that if there is a buyer who is a single man or a widower who wants to buy a house, and at the same time look for a wife, he can let me know as I’m also a widow,” she said.

She added that a potential buyer had visited on Wednesday, but refused to give further details about him.
