Confusion As N2 Billion Is Declared Missing From Rivers State Government House

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has accused the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, of squandering a whopping sum of N2 billion ?of State funds, in supporting the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in last Saturday’s Governorship poll, in Ondo State.
The APC, in a statement on Sunday, November 27, and made available to Post-Nigeria, asked Wike to immediately retrieve and return the N2 billion he donated to the Ondo State branch of the PDP.
APC, made the demand on Sunday, through ?the Rivers State Publicity Secretary, Senibo Chris Finebone, in Port Harcourt, ?shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announced Chief Rotimi Akeredolu, as winner of the election.“It is unfortunate that Gov. Nyesom Wike is still playing Father Christmas with the commonwealth of Rivers people, for his personal egoistic political voyage, despite that the Governor has cancelled hundreds of overseas scholarships, and the students repatriated home, among other important programmes.
“Agriculture is in its worst state, since Rivers State was created.“Songhai Farm is gone; the Banana Farm at Tai is gone; RSSDA is now a ghost of its former self, with the staff owed 17 months salaries.“The various fish farms at Buguma, Andoni, and other places that provided jobs for thousands of Rivers people, are now history.
“It saddens the heart that our Governor prefers to neglect important matters calling for attention at home, but rather lavish our commonwealth on his personal political pursuits.“Can you imagine that Governor Nyesom Wike, willingly donated a whopping N2 billion to the Ondo State chapter of the PDP?
“It is horrible, mind-boggling, and indefensible. ”Just like in the case of Edo, the PDP has lost, and the Governor should not wait to be reminded to return the N2bn back to the treasury of Rivers State immediately,” the APC demanded.
The party Spokesman speaking further, ?decried the rate at which the Governor, since his assumption of office, has been wasting the resources of the people on matters concerning the PDP, rather than concentrate on frugally applying the State’s resources to the needs of the people of Rivers State.
??”Whereas the PDP has States like Akwa Ibom, and Delta, that collect high monthly federal allocations, it is only Governor Wike that plays the party’s godfather.
“So far, he has wasted billions of Naira, hosting two failed National Conventions of the PDP, in Port Harcourt.“He has profligately donated billions of Naira, belonging to Rivers people to faraway Bayelsa, Edo, and Ondo PDP chapters, for purposes of elections, while medical workers, pensioners, and teachers, are owed back home.
?”Is it that Rivers State has been conquered by a small band of buccaneers, led by Governor Wike, and genuine elders are keeping quiet?” the Party queried.
?Finebone concluding, ?warned that if the Governor did not return the N2 billion he gave out to Ondo PDP, he will be forced to do so at the appropriate time.

Police Step Up Security At Abia Government House

The Police have stepped up security around the Abia Government House in Umuahia, following report of the issuance of Certificate of Return to Dr Uche Ogah as Governor-elect of the State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the news, which filtered into the state around noon, caused anxiety among residents of Umuahia.

At the city centre, popularly called Isi-gate, some traders, tricycle riders and passersby expressed happiness over the development.

However, the situation was different at the Government House, where political office holders were seen moving hurriedly out of their offices, while workers simply watched.

Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, who was on his way to deliver an inaugural lecture at the Abia State University, Uturu when the news filtered in, cancelled the event and made a quick return to Aba.

Ikpeazu had operated from the Government House Liaison Office in Aba since he assumed office on May 29, 2015.
NAN learnt that hundreds of Ogah’s supporters have moved to Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport, Owerri, to receive him.
Many other supporters were seen at the Government House main-gate in anticipation of his inauguration.

Attempts to get the reaction of officials of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state on the development were unsuccessful.

The Chairman of the party, Chief Johnson Onuigbo, did not pick calls made to his cell phone.

Fayose Threatens To Sack SSS Officials From Ekiti Government House

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said he will have to reconsider the presence of operatives of the State Security Service at the Government House and other establishments in the state following the alleged invasion of the state House of Assembly on Friday.

He said the SSS under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari was now operating outside its constitutional mandate.

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Mr. Fayose said he and the people of the state would not be intimidated by one million armed men of the SSS.

“The government of Ekiti State may have to reconsider the usefulness of men of the DSS in the government house and other institutions of the State government,” Mr. Fayose said.

He said the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government was pursuing a clandestine agenda of truncating democracy in Ekiti State and other Peoples Democratic Party-controlled states like Rivers and Bayelsa.

“If Buhari likes, let him relocate all DSS men in Nigeria with the entire ammunition in their armoury to Ekiti, the will of Ekiti people can never be broken,” he said.

“They will only try, and like they have always done, they will fail because dictatorship has never triumphed over the people.
