Trump Campaign Defends Son’s Skittles Tweet

Donald Trump’s campaign on Tuesday stood by a controversial tweet issued by the candidate’s son, Donald Trump Jr., in which he likened Syrian refugees to a bowl of Skittles.

On Monday, Trump Jr. tweeted a graphic that likened Syrian refugees to Skittles, which swiftly triggered a wave of criticism.
“This image says it all. Let’s end the politically correct agenda that doesn’t put America first. #trump2016,” he tweeted, with a graphic that said: “If I had a bowl of skittles and I told you just three would kill you. Would you take a handful? That’s our Syrian refugee problem.”
Despite widespread condemnation, the campaign stood by the tweet and in a statement called Trump Jr. “a tremendous asset to the campaign.”
“America has become less safe under Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and Clinton’s planned 550% increase in Syrian refugees is a dangerous proposal that will put American lives at risk,” said senior communication adviser Jason Miller. “Speaking the truth might upset those who would rather be politically correct than safe, but the American people want a change, and only Donald Trump will do what’s needed to protect us.”
Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s campaign manager, also defended the comparison to CNN’s Erin Burnett.
“What we do know is that many Americans are concerned with the lack of vetting that’s going on. We see what’s happening all across Europe … that has been a disaster,” she said Tuesday on “Erin Burnett OutFront.”
But Mars Candy, which produces Skittles, said in a statement, “Skittles are candy. Refugees are people. We don’t feel it’s an appropriate analogy. We respectfully refrain from further commentary as anything we say could be misinterpreted as marketing.”

Amber Rose Shuts Down Pink & Defends Kim Kardashian’s Nude Selfie

Pretty much everyone has weighed in on Kim Kardashian West’s nude selfie this week. But now we can all go home because Amber Rose has jumped into the fray to defend her new BFF, Kim.

Amber had Kim’s back today, commenting on P!nk’s hot take, which read: “Shout out to all the women across the world using their brains, their strength, their work ethic, their talent, their ‘magic.'” P!nk never actually named Kim in her message, but it was pretty clear who she was directing it at.

Amber took a screenshot of P!nk’s post and put it on Instagram today with this caption:

Damn Pink we were all born naked society sexualizes our breast and bodies. If a grown mother of 2 is comfortable with her body and wants to show it off that’s none of ur business or anyone else’s. Now, if u wanna talk to kids and be a mentor to young teens, tell them to go to school and to not use their bodies to get ahead?! I’m all for it! But please as a grown woman let another grown woman live as she wishes. That’s our problem! We’re so quick to down each other instead of uplifting! Pink, We’ve seen u damn near naked swinging from a rope( Beautifully) but what’s the difference between a rope, a pole and a pic on Instagram? Classism. Because u sing while ur half naked does that make it “Classy” or is it because u have a “talent”? I’m not dissing at all Pink just curious after u said “You’ll never have to make a silly excuse for yourself”.

Amber posted one of Kim’s nude photos on Instagram with a message directly to Kim, inviting her to participate in the SlutWalk with Amber Rose. The caption reads:

And @kimkardashian I don’t know u well but I saw u speak about slut shaming and as u know I’m an activist feminist so it spoke to me. Being Slut shamed and ridiculed is not fun it’s hurtful and mean. Us women deal with it everyday and I’m happy u can speak openly on this now because if anyone knows what it’s like to be Slut Shamed it’s u! Live it Kim! Make a difference and speak on it! Not only when it’s convenient for u but when u can help others. Last year at my Slutwalk I told my Slut shaming story. This year I would love for u to come and tell urs. This is an open invite from me to u and ur sisters are welcomed too ? Let’s let the naysayers know u are so much more then a sex tape (13 years ago) ? fuck it own it. Ur a mom and a business woman, a wife, sister and daughter. Hope we can make this happen #AmberRoseSlutWalk2016

FEC Defends Buhari’s Foreign Trips

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has been assessing President Muhammadu Buhari’s foreign trips, describing them as good for the image of Nigeria.

This was part of the outcome of the Wednesday meeting of the Council held at the Council Chambers and presided over by President Buhari.

Members of the Council were disturbed by criticisms that have trailed the President’s frequent trips abroad and the Minister of Foreign Affairs came with a memo to explain to the Council the gains from such trips, as enumerated by the Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed, whose ministry had also been involved in some of the trips.

“The investment that we make with the President’s travel is well worth, already, the returns that we are getting from those visits.

“We hope to continue to see the President going out and advocating for this country to get investments so we can take everyone out of poverty.  That is really what is important and we see it as an investment with a return that is worthwhile,” she stressed.

Oprah Winfrey Defends The Kardashians After Rebel Wilson’s “Famous For No Talent” Comment

Oprah Winfrey has no problem with the Kardashian family’s celebrity status. In fact, she admires their work ethic. The TV personality defended the reality TV family during KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show in Australia on Monday, Nov. 9.

“I interviewed the Kardashians two years ago and I can’t believe how hard they work. People don’t understand that, people think, Oh, if a television camera’s just following you, then that’s just easy,” Winfrey, 61, said during the radio show. “To really create a reality series that looks like something’s actually happening, it means you have to be on all the time.”

She continued: “I went to film them as a family and I couldn’t believe how hard they worked. We were there for seven hours and they were gonna tape another seven hours after I left. No matter who you are, that is work.”

Winfrey’s comments were in response to a remark Rebel Wilson made earlier this month. As previously reported, the Pitch Perfect actress refused to present with Kendall and Kylie Jenner at the MTV Video Music Awards in August.

Reno Omokri Defends Buhari Over Alleged Lopsided Appointments

Former Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri  on Tuesday made a case for Buhari over the president’s alleged lopsided appointments saying appointments should be made on merit and not sectional interests. Omokiri made the statement in his article titled As Buhari blazes the trail for merit.

Read article:

Recently there was a big uproar about the appointments made by President Buhari. I disagreed with those who complained that the President’s appointment were lopsided.

Appointments should not be made on the basis of ethnicity, region or religion.Appointments should be made strictly on merit!

As far as I am concerned, the President can appoint all his appointees from the same state as long as they are the best Nigeria has to offer.

Appointments Will Be Balanced By September, Buhari Defends Appointments

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday defended the appointment of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal and five others.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, yesterday assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari’s political appointments will balance out soon. Adesina spoke on a radio programme, Political Platform, on RayPower 100.5FM.

Adesina said the President was aware of federal character and expressed the belief that there will be balance by the time he makes more appointments in September.

While admitting that appointments are Buhari’s prerogative, the presidential spokesman also said that nobody can fault the fact that those that have been named so far were appointed on merits.

Adesina said: “Nobody can fault the fact that the persons appointed were appointed on merits.

“In terms of the spread, the President has prerogative to appoint and he knows there is federal character. I am sure that there will be balance in the future.

“These are still early days. At the end of the day, we will have a balance.

“By the time more appointments are made, it will balance out. The President is trying to get the very best of Nigerians. The issue of key positions and no key positions should not be the issue.

“He gave a deadline of September for the appointment of ministers, and he will keep to it.”
